What is Spectral Processing.

The easiest way to understand Spectral Processing is to think of it as manipulating the building blocks that make up a digital signal – rather than the actual signal.

Our algorithm uses Fast Fourier Transform – or FFT – to break the incoming audio into tiny particles, which are analyzed and processed separately, before being put back together as audio. This all happens in realtime and allows for a much more surgical approach to resonance detection and rebalancing than what would be possible with traditional audio effects.

While most spectral tools focus on audio restoration, we wanted Smooth Operator to be all about creative expression. The plugin is meant for shaping your tone.

Re-Head uses a head response model to recreate the effect of your head and skull on the audio coming in from your speakers.

Together with stereo processing, impulse response treatment, EQ and more, Re-Head takes care of the most common problems associated with headphone use in professional work: unnatural sound and ear fatigue.

For many audio professionals, listening on headphones is a necessary evil. Perhaps you need headphones when tracking? Perhaps you need to work away from your studio? Or perhaps your studio has that one neighbor that simply can’t enjoy your creative output at 3 AM in the morning? Listening through headphones creates an unnatural sound that’s quite different from how we hear music from speakers.

Nuance Deviation System

Analog domain components have some little tonal nuance differences which create some deviations concerning their theoretical values. Nuance Deviation System (NDS) is the NoiseAsh Audio proprietary signal processing model, which emulates the sonic character deviations of the analog components. Individual Left-Mid and Right-Side channels can be alternated with NDS. There are plenty of carefully modeled console channels and each number stands for a console channel bearing its deviation. MCabinet is a revolutionary cabinet simulator mainly for guitars and bass, but can be a great creative sound design tool as well.

Instead of thousands of IR files it lets you focus on the sound itself and gets you a virtually infinite number of cabinets!

Great sound, simple controls, creative results

A cabinet is an essential part of the guitar sound. Professional guitarists are usually either using physical cabinets, or bought thousands of impulse response files of these cabinets. In either case it is an extremely clumsy hit and miss process. MCabinet is based on statistical analysis of these real cabinets.

It lets you start with a profile of thousands of these IRs and start being creative from there. It provides 4 so-called resonators, which can give your new cabinet a unique tonal or resonant character, and 2 wideners, which provide a natural stereo widening and potentially a little ambience. Finally, MCabinet lets you post-process your new cabinet using simple knobs such as flattening or tilt. And there’s a dynamic equalizer as a cherry on top, just in case.

Exporting IR is a piece of cake

Just in case you want to use your new cabinet using a HW amp simulator, which allows loading an IR file, MCabinet can do that with a few clicks.

How about some creative sound design?

MCabinet is mainly designed for guitar and bass cabinets, but it can actually work with just about any kind of sound. You can analyze a profile of any set of samples and see where it gets you. Or you can use a flat profile and exploit the resonators and wideners on any audio you want. It’s the creativity that matters these days!

Modulators

MCabinet provides 4 fully-featured modulators which can control any set of parameters including other modulators. Each modulator works as an LFO, level follower, midi/audio triggered ADSR enveloper, randomizer or pitch detector, or even a combination and can listen to the plugin’s side-chain. You can make the sound move in time, be less static and more interesting. You can make various parameters depend on the input (or the sidechain) level or even listen to the input pitch.

MCabinet contains a powerful MIDI processor, which listen to MIDI controllers and MIDI keyboard and control any parameters realtime.

Automatic gain compensation (AGC)

Most plugins change loudness of the output audio, which makes browsing presets inconvenient, not mentioning randomization. MCabinet includes automatic gain compensation, which quickly adapts to current settings and ensures the output sounds as loud as the input. This even protects you from thinking that something sounds better in cases it is just louder.

Your ears should always be the main tool, but they are not the only way to judge your audio. Visual aids can be incredibly useful for a variety of reasons. Melda’s comprehensive metering system is extremely flexible and delivers you accurate information when you need it.

From classic meters to time-based graphs, you will see important visual feedback including; Input, Output, Stereo width, Loudness, Waveforms, Bands, Gain reduction and Sidechain, and some plugin dependent meters.

MTurboEQ is a unique vintage-style equalizer inspired by most of the well-known classic hardware. It’s not one of them, it’s all of them! For quick and easy equalization with pristine results.

Equalization reinvented for easier and faster workflow

MTurboEQ speeds up the workflow tremendously by providing access to so many classic equalizers in a single click. But it doesn’t stop there. The controls in each hardware were very different, and very weird in many cases, so one had to take a lot of time learning to work with such a clumsy interface. All models in MTurboEQ have pretty much the same user interface and features. There is always a low-shelf and a high-shelf, the most essential filters. Then there are usually 4 peak filters, even if the original had just one, and they always work the same way. And of course there are the classic goodies such as high-pass and low-pass filters (which are used on pretty much all tracks these days, but not many vintage equalizers actually had them), saturation to get some of the analogue feel, dry/wet for easy control of the amount of equalization, automatic gain compensation to avoid loudness trickery, mid/side/surround and more…

Stepped vs. Continous

Some people just like lots of versatility, others prefer having limited options. MTurboEQ provides both options. In Stepped mode almost everything has limited values – predefined frequencies for each filter, gain increasing by single decibels etc. It is much faster to make a decision this way, especially since bigger differences are easier to compare by ear. And when (if) you are ready, you can just switch to Continous mode for fine-tuning. MTurboEQ then lets you access all of the frequencies etc., even if the original hardware (and all emulations) didn’t have that. Courtesy of the digital world.

There is no doubt, that you could do 99.9999% of the sound of any analog equalizer using a versatile parametric equalizer, such as MAutoDynamicEq. It’s just frequencies and curves after all, there’s no hidden magic. But the analogue equalizers have one big advantage – the design. They provide access only to what you will likely use, configured in such a way, that it all just sounds good from the beginning. We analyzed these designs, copied what we considered useful, trashed the rest (such as noise, hum, pointless overall gain changes…) and now we serve you a finished equalizer, which you can just plug in, turn a few knobs and you are done. It’s fast and the results are great, that’s all, no magic.

Analog domain components have some little tonal nuance differences which create some deviations concerning their theoretical values. Nuance Deviation System (NDS) is the NoiseAsh Audio proprietary signal processing model, which emulates the sonic character deviations of the analog components. Individual Left-Mid and Right-Side channels can be alternated with NDS. There are plenty of carefully modeled console channels and each number stands for a console channel bearing its deviation. With NDS, real tonal differences can be captured quickly!

Shift Your Weight

Pivot is a simple to use tilt EQ, allowing you to shift the spectral content of your track around a mid-point like a seesaw. A little bass heavy? Turn the dial to the left. Treble a bit loud? Move it to the right. It features an adjustable slope and mid-way point to get the exact balance you need.

Mid/Side EQ

Along with normal mono or stereo processing, Pivot offers a mid/side mode. Useful for making your master sound more immersive, you can brighten up the side channel for a bright and wide feel, or reduce the level of stereo bass, tidying up the stereo spread of your bass frequencies.

Assign up to 12 scenes via MIDI and tweak to your hearts content, with multiple curve types and note divisions.

With many included presets, it’s easy to find the perfect starting point for your own volume shaping exploits. There are specific global presets dedicated to sidechain ducking, trance gates, arps and special FX. These are useful and broad settings, ripe for tweaking to your own liking. Each of the 3 EQ bands and the master volume automation have simple one-click solutions to quickly access the most common shapes, providing shortcuts to basic ducking, gating and rhythmic shapes.

MIDI Scenes

Program up to 12 completely different MIDI scenes and switch them on the fly using your own chosen MIDI triggers. This makes Dodge Pro essential as an all-in-one solution to your volume shaping automation, allowing scene switching throughout your tracks to bring variety to your audio. Advanced Line Editor

Simply click the automation line to add a node then drag it to define the shape and curve. Complex curve shapes can easily be selected including a variety of single and double types, pulse, wave, saw and step automation. Quickly copy/paste lines and scenes and select common transformations with the easy access buttons. For an extra layer of programming, each primary automation line has a second layer that can be independently drawn and these are summed together to create more complex shapes for really creative effects.

Independent & Adjustable 3 Band Automation

Whereas most volume shaping plugins process the entire signal, Dodge Pro can split the audio into 3 frequency band ranges and apply different volume shape automation to each band. Simply drag the multicoloured band graphic at the top right of the interface to define the low, mid and high-frequency crossover points. Then draw your automation lines for the 3 bands, all of which can have completely independent Volume, Shape, Sync, Length and Mix settings. Want to make just your low-end pump, apply a midrange trance gate, or add a high-frequency rhythmic effect? All of these configurations are quick and easy with Dodge Pro.

Randomisation

Choose to randomise the volume automation of entire scenes or a single band for some ducking and dodging effects that are truly off the chain. 

Visual Feedback

The processed audio can be seen as a waveform in the centre of the interface, either by full frequency or split into the 3 bands. The live ducking is also shown via the mini-meters. Other options for UI feedback include a scaleable interface and left / right monitoring.

Bypass & Master Mix

The bypass control is smoothed to be as click and pop free as possible for unhindered A/B testing. Choose to mix the dodged signal with your original raw audio via the central Master Mix ratio control, allowing you to dial down the volume shaping for more subtle effects.
