miniBitminiBit is a 8-bit/chiptune style synthesizer that emulates the sound of 80s game consoles and retrocomputers. It features a main oscillator with 15 waveforms paired with a sub oscillator (a square wave pitched one octave below). The waveforms are not bandlimited and will produce aliasing. Furthermore, using the built-in bitcrusher, you can create even more noisy and retro sounds. The new version also features a synced 8 Steps Stepper/Sequencer with multiple destinations. From noisy, snare-like steps to ambient subs, miniBit has many uses beyond what one expects from a chip tune synth. Specifications
CLASSIC CONSOLES miniBit was inspired by the sound of classic game consoles and retro computers of the 80s and 90s. Some of the waveforms were carefully created and edited with an Amiga 1200, while others were meticulously recreated from the sounds of the best classic games that we have collected over the years. STEP SEQUENCER miniBit features an 8 steps sequencer that can be used to automate several parameters: pitch, volume, cutoff, resonance, waveform, and downsampling. Sequencing the waveforms will generate sounds reminiscent of early trackers and wavetable synthesizers. Each track can also be randomized using the dice buttons on the right. CUSTOM WAVEFORMS The Custom Waveform Editor features 32 steps and 8 waveform slots per preset. You can draw your waveforms by clicking and dragging on the editor. You can also use the built-in examples as a starting point. Each preset has its own set of custom waveforms, if you want to use a custom wave with another preset you can use the Copy/Paste buttons, or you can disable the Update Custom Waves in the global settings. Analogue Explorations
Analogue Explorations is a collection of 64 carefully programmed analogue type sounds created by Twolegs Toneworks for Applied Acoustics Systems Ultra Analog VA-2 synth. The soundset is not aimed at any particular style or genre, but provides a sound-palette easily adapted in any type of electronic music – spanning the spectre from deep dubtechno, dnb, idm, chip to funky house. This pack contains a broad variety of analogue type sounds programmed with small amounts of drift and plenty of analog grit – of which this synth has plenty. You’ll find basses ranging from funky synth basses to bombastic subbasses – and pads ranging from soft baby tissue to sweeping textured wonders. There’s also a range of lead-synths well suited for the odd melody-line or a full solo-riff. Ultra Analog VA-2 doesn’t allow too much action to be applied through the modwheel, but there’s added vibrato for most sounds. The true bonus in this soundset is the percussive sounds and the instant atmosphere creating soundeffects, which in some cases can make up the basis of an entire dub techno track. miniVerb8-BIT/CHIPTUNE ECHO REVERB EFFECT miniVerb is an 8-bit/chiptune and lofi reverb effect inspired by the sound of 80s game consoles and retrocomputers. Early consoles didn’t have much power for DSP effects, so the video game composers at that time had to improvise. The most common way to add a sense of space/reverb to the sound was to sacrifice one of the internal tracks to play a delayed version of the original sound, essentially using a slapback echo to add depth. The technique evolved and eventually, consoles started to take advantage of more power for real internal effects. miniVerb recreates that classic digital echo/reverb sound, made famous by iconic consoles such as the NES and SNES, topping it with two flters (post/pre), vibrato, and crusher (bit crusher, downsampler, pitch shifter). ECHO SECTION AND TIPS The Echo Section can be used to simulate the tricks used in early video game consoles to add a sense of space/reverb to the sounds. The most common way was to sacrifice one of the internal tracks of the sound chip to play a delayed version of the original track, essentially creating a slapback echo effect. To achieve this NES-like reverb sound, you can use a single delay line, very short time, no feedback, and width set to mono. To simulate a 90s fake reverb/echo (like the SNES) instead, you can play with longer times and add some feedback to simulate a reverb tail. For a more modern approach, you can switch the Echo to Double Delay Line by clicking on the blue button (in the top-left corner) and increase the width to a wider setting.
