3. MixChecker Pro

MixChecker Pro

Everyone who mixes content for the audience has to make sure that the mixes sound great on every consumer device. It can be done quickly and easily with MixChecker or MixChecker Pro. With tons of new features, the two let you simulate the exact surroundings and devices of your listeners. Because You Mix for the People.

This page is focused on MixChecker Pro add ons. To see the basics about MixChecker, visit the original MixChecker page.

WHAT’S NEW IN MIXCHECKER PRO?

Everything! Even though the interface has the same elegance and ease of use as the original MixChecker.

  • New simulations. All characteristics are newly measured, the processing engine is completely different with lower latency and phase linearity. No simple impulse responses inside.

  • Create sets of simulations. Drag the selected simulations in any order to the MixChecker button. Save your selection to several button sets together with stereo base width and volume level for each button.

  • Custom settings and labels for buttons. The MixChecker buttons have several adjustable parameters. You may even assign the same simulated device to several buttons, each with unique settings. To distinguish between them, there could be a custom label placed to each button.

  • Distortion. We are experts in exact modeling of distortions and saturations, either of speakers or of amps, preamps and other circuits. We used this experience and we added modeling of these distortions to MixChecker Pro.

  • Background noise. MixChecker adds a possibility to add some audio background with adjustable volume. The combination with simulated devices is quite sophisticated: When you select simulation of phones, the path of the noise through the headphones and ears is simulated, so you hear the realistic combination of the mix playing from headphones and of the nose, coming through headphones from outside.

  • Auto Advance. You don’t need to browse through simulations manually. The adjustable auto advance function does it for you.

  • Advanced stereo modes. Except of simple Mono mode, MixChecker offers channel swap, listening to each channel separately in both monitors. Furthermore, each simulation has adjustable width of the stereo base.

  • Web browser, iOS and Android remote control. MixChecker Pro comes accompanied by web browser, mobile phone or tablet control. You may walk around your studio when checking the final mix, save the valuable screen size.

  • And more improvements, like interface zoom, calibration, and so much more.

THE SCIENCE POWERING THE SIMULATIONS

The original MixChecker contains only the simulation of the linear behavior of the devices. We not only added the modeling of non-linear behavior, we have also completely rewritten the original processing to achieve phase linearity, lower latency and better resolution in all parts of the frequency spectrum.

YOUR STUDIO

Have you ever wondered why your music, your videos, showreels, and movies do not sound well when you move out of your studio? That is because you do not use the same equipment the real people use. And you don’t listen in the same environment and conditions as your audience.

YOUR AUDIENCE

MixChecker Pro turns your studio monitors into consumer devices. It adds some background noise and it simulates the distortion and narrow stereo base of the real listening conditions.

NEW BUTTON SETTINGS

The magic of MixChecker Pro is that it has so many new features while it´s still as easy to use as the original MixChecker. Why? Because it offers the new Edit mode. In Edit mode you can assign any simulated device to any device button, set the distortion amount for that exact device, adjust the stereo base width as well as the volume of the device. The simulated devices are organized in categories, so the searching is super-fast and intuitive. Once you have your button set ready, close the Edit mode and work just as with the original MixChecker.

NEW PRO FUNCTIONS

The default view of the new MixChecker Pro has a small secret socket (options panel) at the bottom of the plugin GUI. Here you can adjust some handful settings for the background noise, setup the mono button and if you are not sure if you have reached the distortion threshold or if you are afraid of any hard-clipping during the work, there are 2 LED indicators to show you.

HOW WE MADE IT

We’ve spent weeks measuring the frequency responses and behaviour of all the devices in laboratory conditions to create the true models you can rely on. We were precise in definition of all the background sounds which could disturb the listener from hearing the flawless tune. With many more features, MixChecker Pro is the best plugin for double-checking your mixes and making your sound masterly.

4. SpeakUp

SpeakUp

SpeakUp “So They Can Hear What You Say”

Adjusting the volume of a spoken word in a video can be time-consuming. In Audified, we thought there could be much easier way to edit voice-overs. Just add music and SpeakUp.

Features:

  • Automatic voice detection
  • Smooth blending of voice-over and background music
  • Time-saving
  • Easy user interface
  • Sensor & Performer plugins

STORY BEHIND SPEAKUP

SpeakUp has emerged from the necessity to simplify the process of creating voiceovers and YouTube shows. SpeakUp plugin bundle does exactly that. Applying the SpeakUp Sensor plugin on the speech track and SpeakUp Performer on the music allows you to focus only on what is really important – your show. User friendly control allows you to adjust the plug-in behavior to suit you the best.

DO THEY HEAR WHAT YOU SAY?

Some video editors spend hours of their precious time by adjusting the volume perfectly. We kept them in mind. The responsive plugins assure the ideal blend of voice, background sounds and music. SpeakUp was composed by professionals. For professionals.

MANUAL VOICE-OVER ADJUSTING

Voice-over projects takes a long time to prepare and it is not the most creative part of show production. And being radio-show-hosts is not easy while you have to master the multitasking skill to controll the music and advertisements while doing talk-show. Easy to use tool that covers the technicality while allowing you to focus on show itself is not available.

SPEAKUP SENSOR

Just the right amount of control.

  • Sensitivity – adjust the threshold of voice-over detection
  • Lookahead – tell the Sensor plugin how much to delay the speech so the music fades-out before the speech in the final render.
  • Control Bus – choose up to two independent control busses if you need sofisticated scenario.
  • Force Talk – push this button to be heard immediately no matter if you reach the Sensitivity threshold or not

SENSOR MODE

The Performer is fully controlled by Sensors. It can’t be easier.

  • Ducking Amount – defines the currently applied amount (0-100%) of desired attenuation
  • Fade-out Time – transition time between 0 % and 100 % Ducking Amount
  • Fade-in Time – transition time between 100 % and 0 % Ducking Amount
  • Hold Time – keep the Duckign Amount value at 100 % while there is no speech
  • Target Attenuation – set the target attenuation applied on music track
  • Speech Frequencies Attenuation – set the attenuation of speech filter applied on your music track to enhance intelligibility of the voice-over
  • Control Bus – set the performer to listen to Sensor signals on up to two independent control busses

AUTOMATION MODE

Driven by your will – write Ducking Amount parameter automation curve directly to your DAW (in Sensor Mode), modify it or even redraw it from scratch. Then just let the SpeakUp Automation mode do its magic. Performer is only controlled by the Ducking Amount parameter value read from DAW, Sensor signals have no effect in this mode.

  • Ducking Amount – defines the currently applied amount (0-100%) of desired attenuation
  • Target Attenuation – set the target attenuation applied on music track
  • Speech Frequencies Attenuation – set the attenuation of speech filter applied on your music track to enhance intelligibility of the voice-over

5. Linda RockStack

Linda RockStack

Linda Rockstack – Turning a Vision into a Reality

3-channel guitar software amplifier & cabinet including chorus & delay effects

As an experienced musician, mixing and mastering engineer, and programmer, Martin Linda exactly knows how he wants his guitars to sound to fit any particular mix no matter the genre. Being a long time user of various amp sims and cab impulses, one day, he started programming his dream machine of a virtual amp to create an amplifier plug-in widely usable across many rock & metal subgenres. Since then, many moons have passed, and by working in close collaboration with Kuassa’s team of product designers and programmers, Audified has made his vision into a total amp sim monster!

This uniquely sounding and unbelievably versatile virtual amp will give you control over a vast tonal palette. Its variability is mind-blowing.

Meet RockStack

RockStack is a three-channel amplifier plug-in software with an independently switchable effects section and a continuously blendable cabinet impulse section. Equipped with extensive tone-shaping options such as Pre and Post gain EQ and additional Tight, Fat, Body contours, the tonal possibilities of this amp are virtually endless. On top of that, the effects section consists of independently engageable Multi-stage chorus and Delay processing.

Created in collaboration with Linda Audio, this virtual amp is your complete virtual rig, featuring powerful pre-gain & post-gain tone-shaping and mix-ready guitar tones.

MAIN FEATURES

  • Three-Channel Amp – RockStack delivers three distinctively different voicings – Clean, Rock, & Metal. Each of them has its specific colour and gain structure, and it can be tailored to taste by all given controls of the amplifier.
  • Tone-Gain-Tone – The difference between EQ shaping before and after a gain stage is gigantic. RockStack gives you both options. Use the Pre EQ controls to push the gain stage more in a particular frequency range, and then use the Post EQ to finalize the amp’s sound making it more mix ready.
  • Tight, Fat, Body – Use the Tight to make both the low end and gain structure more focused. Use Fat to get a fuller lower-midrange response. And use Body to make the amp push more aggressively in the higher midrange.
  • Bright Switches – The three-stage multi-switch accentuates higher frequencies dynamically. Both active positions are sensitive to the input signal level. Bright I is more focused on the higher midrange, while Bright II emphasizes even higher frequencies along with little bass as well.
  • Rack Effects – The Chorus can be placed pre or post the gain stages, and it has two switchable modes. The Delay is placed after the gain stages, and it delivers anything from clean and precise digital delay to degraded and clipped repeats typical of analogue delays of yesteryear.
  • Blendable Cabinets – RockStack features two cab impulses – A & B, between which you can blend smoothly. The cabinet section can be switched off, too, in case you wish to pair RockStack with impulses of your own choice.
  • Noise Gate – The solution to keeping your sound noise-free even with higher amounts of gain. It is useful, particularly when pushing Rock and Metal channels into high saturation. When playing Clean or with lower gain sounds, you better turn it off to get maximum dynamics and retain attack information.
  • Independent Modules – Amp, Effects, and Cabinet sections can be separately switched off or used on its own.

Many amp sims aim to simulate exact hardware models made by specific manufacturers. They take an already existing design and recreate it in the software domain. By contrast, RockStack is tuned by an experienced producer’s ear rather than derived from an existing scheme. It gives you tools to create your own mix ready rock & metal sounds instead of copying anything already existing.

6. STA Effects

STA Effects

STA Delay enriched the second generation collection. The bundle also contains STA Chorus that adds your instruments a little warmth and tickling vibe! Extra punch, meat, juice… Call it what you want, but STA Flanger gives it to you. If your sound is not spacey enough, take it to the universe with STA Phaser! And last but not least – STA Enhancer will make your mixes beautiful and bright. But the main effect that gives the STAs their character is the STA Preamp. The Tube Heart STA (Summing Tube Amplifier) uses two signal paths, one is processed by modulation or spectral change and the other is not processed. These two signals are mixed on a vacuum tube. That gives “ordinary” effects like Flanger or Phaser, really unique and warm character. The valve saturation colour depends on the Mode selection. Changing the type of the tube circuit, affects the tube working point and frequency response. 5 valve circuit modes available

  • P – Presence – the higher amount of mid-high frequencies allows better cutting through the mix.
  • V – Vintage – has smoother highs and more even harmonics.
  • B – Brown – has almost flat response with only light high frequencies roll off and nice higher harmonics punch.
  • W – White – has higher amount of higher frequencies and the ratio between the even and odd harmonics is balanced.
  • L – LoFi – contains less low and high frequencies.

We are making our plugins as real as possible with all the natural analog feeling and side effects. There is some low frequency noise in some tube modes. It is a natural result of the tube configuration we are using in STA.

8. MixChecker

MixChecker

This ultimate mixing assistant will help you to get better mixes instantly. MixChecker (VST/AAX/AU plug-in) saves your precious time. Plug it in the master track of your project as the last segment of your listening chain and quickly turn your studio monitors into classic reference monitors or several consumer devices. Have you ever wondered why your music, your videos, showreels and movies do not sound well when you move out of your studio? Why do they lose punch and clarity that your awesome studio monitors deliver? That is because you do not use the same equipment the real people use. To bring the best quality to your audience, you need to check your mixes as often as possible. That is why we made MixChecker. Because we know You mix for the People.

Do You Hear What They Hear? The consumers, the people you are mixing your content for, do not use hi-end studio monitors. They watch TV, listen to music in their cars. They even use their desktop speakers, tablets and smartphones or their earphones. You need your mix to sound great despite of what lousy conditions your audience uses.

No more extra exports In past, to ensure your mix sounds right on any device, you had to export your sound and listen in different conditions. Import your mix to your smartphone, burn on CD and listen in your car, get back to your studio, do little tweaks and export again… Now you can use the MixChecker to perform quick round test that will only take a few seconds. And get back to mixing and corrections while you still know what the problem in your mix was.

What it does MixChecker functions are divided into two sections. The Simulation offers acoustic models of several consumer devices and classic reference monitors. Pressing a single button will turn your monitors into the selected device. Not all studio monitors deliver flat frequency response. Therefore we also added the Compensation section. It will allow you to tell MixChecker, you are using average 5″ or 8″ speakers or headphones. That will change the resulting sound accordingly. The Bypass button turns all processing off. When illuminated, only clean signal comes through MixChecker.

9. u73b Compressor

u73b Compressor

Faithful and unique emulation of an old German broadcast compressor/limiter unit U73b. The device was often used for mastering between 1960 and 1980. It is an all tube vary-mu compressor/limiter with adjustable release time option. We kept the circuit exactly as it was originally designed and only added input and output gain (before and right after compressor circuit) to help with proper adjustment of the compression. The plugin effect has been also supplemented with a VU meter and selectable side-chaining. U73b is great for mastering, mixing drums, bass, guitar, vocals and voice overs. Controls The compressor’s controls are very easy, but the effect of this unique device is audible at the same moment you turn it on:

  • Compressor/Limiter switch – is the upper U73b knob and it switches between Compressor mode (Kompr), Bypass (Durchschalt) and Limiter mode (Begr). The compressor mode has lower threshold setting and very gentle increasing ratio, in opposite, the limiter mode provides higher threshold setting with higher ratio but still with smooth knee.
  • Release time – the first three positions offer fixed release time, the other three positions (marked red) provide adjustable program content dependent release time option.
  • IN – adjust input gain before the compressor/limiter circuit
  • OUT – adjust output gain after the compressor/limiter circuit.
  • Key input – selects the signal source used for controlling the gain reduction
  • HPF – U73b is a vintage device and as such it may not meet present mastering demands. We added a bass management button that simply switches between original sound and desired modern sound (without low frequencies bypass).

10. ToneSpot Acoustic Pro

ToneSpot Acoustic Pro

“Best tone of string instruments spotted easily” – Improves the tone of stringed acoustic instruments such as acoustic guitar, piano, violin, cello, banjo or mandolin.

Swiss Army Knife solution for all tone hunters. Designed to fit the modern genres as well as the more traditional ones.

Main Features:

  • Best mixing tricks and creative effects for stringed acoustic instruments processing
  • Monstrous processing power and flexibility
  • Musically labeled controls
  • Settings based on the analysis of thousands of world-class records
  • Time-saver: No need to use many amp sims
  • Intelligent gain staging

TONE HUNTING

Acoustic instruments can take a lot of processing even the natural tone is needed. It’s because of the context. Acoustic instruments can fight against busy arrangement with several layers of instruments clashing into each other. Or the recordings are sounding too sterile, thin or harsh.

So you need the tone that can cut through. The tone has to be harmonically rich and fat sounding, but it also needs to have a lot of clarity and tightness at the same time.

But it’s not all! Even if the instrument is heavily processed, it also has to be very natural sounding at some point so everyone knows what instrument is played. And that’s why you need ToneSpot

STANDARD ACOUSTIC INSTRUMENTS RIGS

Mostly it’s not enough to run the acoustic instrument through a preamp or DI-box to get the standards we are hearing on today’s records.

At the end of the day, we need a ton of surgical plugins, a ton of effects, simulation plugins that eat a significant portion of CPU power.

TONESPOT SOLUTION

There is a simpler solution. Tone Spot is just one processor doing everything. One missing product you need for every stringed acoustic instrument. It is a key to success full of tricks, extensive know-how and still with a lot of freedom.

WHAT MATTERS? MUSIC OR SOUND?

Both. Great musical ideas need a great sound. Music industry changed over years. The quality of sound and sound aesthetics often determine the success of the music. It’s not enough to write good music anymore.

You need breathtaking sound to get attention.

And… If you have an inspiring sound, you write and play better music.

You have the ideas, we have the tool, so… Lets get inspired by the sound!
