Suit up your mix with this elegant compressor/saturator/enhancer/enchanter

LUXE is an effect plugin that compresses and saturates an audio signal in a quite subtle but musical way. It is very useful for making a track “fit in the mix”, and can be used with very good results on a drum bus, a vocal track, or anything in between.

LUXE is very easy to use – simply choose between the LUXE or FINESSE algorithms, and set the desired processing level. Don’t be fooled by the modest control possibilities – under the hood is a very sophisticated set of parameters that will treat your incoming audio with great care, musicality, and warmth.

The slider sets the amount of the effect. Under the hood, this parameter controls a set of internal (non-visible) parameters which makes LUXE an easy tool to use for quick results. The OUT knob sets the output volume and ranges from silence to +6 dB.

The alternate FINESSE algorithm offers a slightly different frequency response, and also adds some edge to the internal saturation module.

A compressor beyond the ordinary

Richter is a tectonic compressor, designed to achieve heavy compression with a minimal amount of artifacts. It is the result of many years of experimenting in the Klevgrand labs. Normally a heavily compressed audio signal gets distorted, often with a nasty “zipper noise” artifact because of how the internal envelope followers are engineered. The experiments led to a brand new approach resulting in a compressor that empowers you to squeeze every bit of sonic perfection out of your tracks. Use it for meaty mixes, punchy drums or smooth, transparent vocal tracks.

Due to how the algorithm is designed, there are a few unconventional controls to tame Richter. First of all: one single parameter controls how much compression will get applied. The other (important) parameter controls how the internal envelope follower will react to transients vs continuous/lasting sounds. These two parameters make Richter a highly intuitive compressor where the user quickly will be able to dial in the wanted sound. On top of that there’s a boost switch that literally makes the amount span go to eleven. And, as the name suggests, earthquake levels are possible.

5 Band Compressor

W.A Production went above and beyond and rather than give you the standard 3 band EQ, they put 5 EQ controls at your fingertips. Now you have more control to master your mix. You can customize:

• Mid High

You are also able to adjust the amount of Threshold of each individual band as well as the Makeup gain of each individual band. This will give you an amazingly clear and professional sound that will please the ears of not only the producer but the listener.

The Mix Knob, as a Multi-use Tool

You can use the Mix knob to toggle between hearing how much of the effect is being used and compare it to the dry mix. You can also use the Mix Knob as a parallel compressor by adding 30% of the effected sound to the mix.
Built-in Limiter

No need to use a third party limiter. Not only do W.A Production know what it’s like to have a slew of different effects open consuming your CPU or you rack space, but they know the better the organization, the more productive you can be.

With a simple flick of a switch the limiter keeps the master track, individual audio file or MIDI instrument from exceeding the 0dB mark. The 0dB mark, also referred to as “Unity Gain”, is the maximum peak anything in a song. Anything above that will result in the dreaded “clipping”.

Upward and Downward Compression

These effects are two separate knobs on the interface of The King 2.

Adjusting either the Upward or Downward Compression knob will increase or decrease either compression. Both knobs default at 100 and are capable of dropping to 0 or being increased to 200.

Time Knob

Allows producers to adjust the attack and release time of the Upward and Downward Compression. W.A Production love how both of these compression options compliment the mix of the Multi-Band elements.

Magic EQ

The King 2s Magic EQ is an amazing development that allows you to add EQ to anything being affected whether it be a master rack, individual audio file and or MIDI instrument. The Magic EQ has 3 different shapes/ curves that are designed mainly for cleaning. The 1st option is designed to clean up the muddy frequencies to give the affected element a cleaner sound. The 2nd and 3rd option on the Magic EQ is primarily meant for the master tracks of a project. 

Designed to focus on cleaning up a wide variety of elements at one time. This means cleaning up the muddy frequencies and amplifying what it has polished clean. This will make your bright tones shine and sound crisper.

Input / Output Gain

A major factor in compression plug-ins is an Input Gain and an Output Gain option. These two options are extremely important based on what you are using The King 2 on. Say you have a MIDI Instrument and you need to judge how much of the instrument gains into The King 2, you would adjust the Input Gain knob, and to judge how much The King 2’s effects push out into the mix. 

These features are important to understand and use, because they can bring the clarity of the effect and really show how amazing The King 2 is. W.A Production really hope producers abuse this feature to really get that intense sound that The King 2 provides!

We’ve done it again… after the release of “Pumper” we wanted to step up our game and give you even more control over the punch and power of your sounds. The sequel, Pumper 3, has been long in development as our team toiled away to retain the stellar performance parameters of the original plugin whilst adding new features. Compressor

The compression module has 4 flexible modes:

• Punchy Mode gives you that direct punch and clarity. This is great for kick drums or percussion.
• Fat will help to bring out the bottom end of your audio and make it sound big.
• Clean is more transparent and perfect for adding cohesion. Great for softer vocals or acoustic instruments.
• Soft is wonderful to use on your master channel. Subtle compression makes everything sound tighter, increasing clarity without sucking the life out of your mix.

New compression parameters for Pumper 3 include adjustable wet / dry parallel compression and RMS shaping controls, ideal for perfecting your sound in the box, without resorting to complex channel audio routing.

Saturator

Add warmth and depth with subtle saturation settings, or push the dial up high for pronounced distortion with a harder edge.

The new Rise and Fall settings allow you to shape transients and smooth out the character of the saturation, both essential controls for fine-tuning the performance of any audio.

Stereo Imager

Bring your tracks to life with the Stereo Image control, adding beautifully clear width and depth. Unique to Pumper 3, the dedicated Low and High shelf modes, alongside frequency and resonance controls, allow you to focus the width processing to specific frequency ranges. Use these settings to emphasise the unique characteristics of a sound.

All In One

Using these 3 modules simultaneously within one plugin is quick, easy and inspiring.

Smooth Talking

Capturing that perfect vocal take is difficult, but knowing how to process vocals can be even trickier. The first step in the chain is often compression, but with so many different types of compressors to choose from which is the perfect solution for your vocals? W.A Production has created Vocal Compressor to solve that problem, featuring a compression chain that’s transparent, balanced and adds a subtle flavour, colour and grit to make vocals sit perfectly in a mix.

The 3-stage compression passes your audio through 3 distinct types of compressors to tame troublesome peaks, balance dynamics and add flavourful saturation. Throw in gating & colour controls alongside options for parallel compression and you’ve got an all-in-one compression tool that suits vocals perfectly but will also work well on synths, bass, leads and other audio.

Peaks

The first step in the signal chain; the Peaks compressor removes amplitude spikes from the signal to make it sound smoother. It aggressively clamps down on the rogue dynamics of your vocal, preparing the signal for the next stage. You’ll only need to push down the threshold by a few dB to hear the effect in action and at it’s transparent best.

Balance

This is a parallel compressor that leaves loud transients intact whilst making the softer parts of your audio louder. This results in a reduction of overall dynamic range to make the vocal sit better in the mix. Use the Mix and Makeup dials to set the balance between the lightly compressed Peaks output and the heavily compressed Balance processing of the same signal. Don’t hold back on the gain reduction as this compressor needs a threshold of around 20dB to work. Keep pushing that threshold down until things sound good.  

Flavour

This compressor has an integrated tape saturation curve to add harmonics, grit and flavour to the audio. Start subtly and then adjust the threshold until you can hear the bite of your vocal, so it clearly rides over the top of your track.

Gate & Colour

Remove unwanted and distracting pops, clicks and noise with the Gate dial. With the Colour slider, dial in a frequency curve that’s specifically tailored to vocal processing, making your vocal performance sound as professional as possible.

Bypass, Output & Master Mix

The bypass control is smoothed to be as click and pop free as possible for unhindered A/B testing when combined with the Output dial. Choose to mix the compressed signal with your original raw audio via the central Master Mix ratio control, allowing you to dial down the compression ratio for parallel effects.

Visual Feedback

The live visuals of the interface meters show exactly what’s happening to the signal as it travels through each compressor in real-time. This allows for accurate monitoring at every step of the chain.

Presets

With many included presets, it’s easy to find the perfect starting point for your own compression adventures. Categorised into distinct themes, these presets can be used on all sorts of audio, not just vocals. They include everything from subtle shaping to more full-on saturated compression effects.

If you work with audio, you will eventually need a good compressor in your toolbox. Korvpressor is an adaptive compressor/limiter, designed for all purposes in audio treatment. It has a super-simple UI with a unique approach on how to tame and visualize a compressor, now also with some added controls to make it even more versatile.

The basic controls are still minimalistic – set the input gain, level of compression, and output gain. The compression algorithm was designed with transparency in mind, and Korvpressor will sound great on almost any kind of sound; all from a vocal track to a full-blown mix. If you push it even harder, it gives a nice squeezing effect.

A compressor beyond the ordinary

Richter is a tectonic compressor, designed to achieve heavy compression with a minimal amount of artifacts. It is the result of many years of experimenting in the Klevgrand labs. Normally a heavily compressed audio signal gets distorted, often with a nasty “zipper noise” artifact because of how the internal envelope followers are engineered. The experiments led to a brand new approach resulting in a compressor that empowers you to squeeze every bit of sonic perfection out of your tracks. Use it for meaty mixes, punchy drums or smooth, transparent vocal tracks.

Due to how the algorithm is designed, there are a few unconventional controls to tame Richter. First of all: one single parameter controls how much compression will get applied. The other (important) parameter controls how the internal envelope follower will react to transients vs continuous/lasting sounds. These two parameters make Richter a highly intuitive compressor where the user quickly will be able to dial in the wanted sound. On top of that there’s a boost switch that literally makes the amount span go to eleven. And, as the name suggests, earthquake levels are possible.

Careful attention has been paid to PSP Vintage Warmer’s overload characteristics with the algorithm being capable of generating saturation effects typical of analog tape recorders. What is Spectral Processing.

The easiest way to understand Spectral Processing is to think of it as manipulating the building blocks that make up a digital signal – rather than the actual signal.

Our algorithm uses Fast Fourier Transform – or FFT – to break the incoming audio into tiny particles, which are analyzed and processed separately, before being put back together as audio. This all happens in realtime and allows for a much more surgical approach to resonance detection and rebalancing than what would be possible with traditional audio effects.

While most spectral tools focus on audio restoration, we wanted Smooth Operator to be all about creative expression. The plugin is meant for shaping your tone.

Faithful and unique emulation of an old German broadcast compressor/limiter unit U73b. The device was often used for mastering between 1960 and 1980. It is an all tube vary-mu compressor/limiter with adjustable release time option. We kept the circuit exactly as it was originally designed and only added input and output gain (before and right after compressor circuit) to help with proper adjustment of the compression. The plugin effect has been also supplemented with a VU meter and selectable side-chaining. U73b is great for mastering, mixing drums, bass, guitar, vocals and voice overs. Controls The compressor’s controls are very easy, but the effect of this unique device is audible at the same moment you turn it on:

• Compressor/Limiter switch – is the upper U73b knob and it switches between Compressor mode (Kompr), Bypass (Durchschalt) and Limiter mode (Begr). The compressor mode has lower threshold setting and very gentle increasing ratio, in opposite, the limiter mode provides higher threshold setting with higher ratio but still with smooth knee.
• Release time – the first three positions offer fixed release time, the other three positions (marked red) provide adjustable program content dependent release time option.
• IN – adjust input gain before the compressor/limiter circuit
• OUT – adjust output gain after the compressor/limiter circuit.
• Key input – selects the signal source used for controlling the gain reduction
• HPF – U73b is a vintage device and as such it may not meet present mastering demands. We added a bass management button that simply switches between original sound and desired modern sound (without low frequencies bypass).
