  • Start trashing your audio immediately with an extensive new preset library and an ear-friendly Limiter that ensures you can play without fear

Trash and Burn

Not all distortions are created equal. Trash 2 combines the power of multi-band, dual-stage distortions and advanced post-filtering for immediate sonic transformation. Give your low end some thump, get a warm crunch on the midrange, and let your high end soar—all without the over-hyped side effects (unless, of course, that’s what you want).  Trash any track: not just guitars and basses, but drums, synths, pads, vocals, brass, woodwinds, and more.  A distortion engine like no other, this is Trash 2.

Shape Shifter

Invent a distortion that the world has never heard. Design your own distortion algorithms with Trash 2’s new customizable Waveshaper. If the physics of waveshaping have your brain in a knot—not to worry. With Trash 2 it’s easy: simply draw in, tweak, and create infinite distortions. Don’t know where to start? Load one of Trash 2’s 60+ distortion algorithms and adjust at will. Trash has shaped everything from major music releases to film and game sound effects over the past decade. Your audio is next.

Follow Your Impulses

The power to morph sound from one object to another is yours with the new Convolve module. Melt your synth bass into a metal bowl, push your electric piano into a vintage cabinet, or play your guitar tone through a human voice box. Convolve includes over 100 impulse responses—a collection of amps, objects, animal sounds and mouth shapes that are ready and waiting to transform your sound. Or, concoct a unique convolution and load any .wav or .aiff file into Trash 2. Impress the sonic characteristics of your wildest imagination onto any track or instrument. A single mouse click is all you need.

Beyond Distortion

Explore new sonic dimensions with the Filter, Delay and Dynamics modules. Breathe life and movement into your audio using the dual Filters, each with 20+ evocative filter types to shape your tone. Modulate, invigorate and apply exotic filter sounds, then control and manipulate each node with LFOs, envelopes and side-chaining. A filter bank unlike any other, you’re free to custom-design your ultimate filter styles and reach the bleeding edge of sound design. Polish it all off with Trash 2’s rich, organic Delay options and a new analog-modeled compressor worth turning up to 11. Throughout the wild ride, the ear-friendly Limiter keeps you and your speakers safe.

Multiband Trash Module

The heart of Trash is its dual-stage multiband waveshaping distortion—allowing you to chain pairs of distortions together for sonic manipulation. Split the signal into multiple bands and apply distortion independently to individual frequencies, each with their own custom waveshape. Use the new Waveform Trace to see exactly how you’re mangling your waveforms in real time, and DC offset filtering to keep them centered and on track. Be extreme or be benevolent: the power of audio annihilation is completely within your control.

  • Apply different distortion types to up to 4 frequency bands.
  • Chain two distortion algorithms for each frequency band for up to 8 different flavors of destruction.
  • Choose from over 60 different distortion algorithms.
  • Design and edit your own distortions using the new graphic-based Waveshaper.
  • Filter each stage with the included Post Filter.
  • Further refine your distortions with the DC Offset Filter and Logarithmic Distortion modes.

Filter Modules

With distortion, tone is everything. Trash 2 gives you two new redesigned Filter modules to drive the frequencies you want into distortion or tame the ones you don’t want. Shape the tone and make it your own with re-engineered Filter shapes and new Vowel Filters.

  • Experiment with 20+ sweepable filters for tons of tonal options that range from clean and warm to fat and juicy to harsh and clipping.
  • Get twice the filter action with brand new Filter 1 and Filter 2 modules.
  • Add LFO and envelope modulation per node to get wahs, wubs, tremolos, and other sweeping effects.
  • Let your Filter settings react dynamically to other incoming audio with new sidechaining support.
  • Put both Filter modules in parallel to achieve different combinations of filter settings simultaneously.

Convolve Module

Trash features extremely realistic amp, device, cabinet, effect and speaker convolution modeling, freeing you to place your audio into another space (or object) entirely. Choose from classics, combos, boutique models, and stacks, or play with creative synthetic impulses from a number of different sources. There’s a tone and character for any situation—let Trash bring you outside the box with telephones, clock radios, sheet metal, plexiglass tubes, piano cabinets, tin cans, and more. Still want more? You’re in luck! With the Convolve module, you can teleport your sound wherever you please by loading in your own audio files.

  • Explore over 100 redesigned Impulse Responses, each one capturing the audio characteristics of another space or object.
  • Load your own custom Impulse Response using any .wav or .aiff file.
  • Adjust stereo width and placement using stereo imaging controls.

Multiband Dynamics Module

Controlling distortion goes far beyond simple filtering and limiting. To get the most out of your tracks, Trash 2 includes a multiband Compressor and Noise Gate to squash the peaks, add grit and character, silence the noise, or draw out sustain. With the addition of sidechaining support, multiband processing, and an updated compression algorithm, the Dynamics module is sure to be among the most powerful tools in Trash 2.

  • Get analog-modeled and grit-filled compression and gating from the redesigned Dynamics module.
  • Apply Dynamics to different frequency ranges independently with 4-band Multiband support.
  • Trigger the Compressor or Gate via external sources with sidechaining support–even to individual frequency bands in Multiband mode.
  • Keep an eye on extensive Dynamics metering for immediate visual feedback
  • Determine exactly which frequencies trigger Dynamics processing using the new Detection Filter, or exploit the Filter’s resonance for more creative applications of compression.
  • Dig deeper into additional Dynamics options like Hard or Soft Knee compression, RMS or Peak level detection, and Auto-Gain compensation.

Delay Module

Trash isn’t just about distortion. Go a step further by using a classic lo-fi Delay. Choose from delays that include: tape delay with saturation and nonlinear tape machine artifacts, tape-tube delay with added tube saturation modeling, classic analog delay with analog degradation, and lo-fi digital delay with quantization noise and aliasing.

  • Experiment with 6 different delay types: Tape, Tape/Tube, Analog, Lo-fi Digital, Broken Bit, and Digital

2. Subvert

by Glitchmachines

Subvert

Subvert is a Savage 3-Channel Distortion Processor Designed to Decimate the Frequency Spectrum

Based around 5 effects; multimode distortion, FM ring modulator, digitizer, metalizer and multimode filter, Subvert generates anything from subtle harmonics to relentlessly brutal distortions. Offering three parallel channels of each effects chain as well as a wealth of modulation and routing options, Subvert is our take on signal decimation with a twist.

Subvert’s multi-channel layout and per-effect bypass option make it possible to reconfigure the order of effects in each chain in a variety of creative ways. Between the unconventional routing options, 15 effects processors, global EQ, numerous modulation options and global randomizer, Subvert makes it possible to achieve mind-bending destructive effects.

While Subvert’s primary focus is on Distortion, it features four additional effects that can be configured in various ways across its three channels. Driving its core are 2 envelope followers and 4 LFOs with optional tempo sync, which can have their output inverted or combined using up to 4 mixers. The final output of the plugin can be sculpted with the master EQ.

With a multi-mode filter as the first processor in each chain, it is possible to set up multi-band effects patches where each channel is processing a different frequency range of the incoming signal. Bypassing certain effects within a chain allows you to globally reconfigure the order of effects, thereby giving you many options in setting up parallel and serial processing patches.

Features

  • Multi-Channel Distortion
  • 3 Parallel Multi-Effects Chains
  • Extensive Routing Options
  • Extensive Modulation Options
  • Global 3-Band Equalizer
  • Scalable User Interface

4.Devastor 2

by D16 Group

Devastor 2

Devastor 2 is the second generation of D16’s first FX Plugin from the SilverLine Collection series. Devastor is a deceptively simple yet remarkable Multiband Distortion Unit. It is an enhanced version of the distortion unit you can find in Phoscyon, but with full control over multiband processing. This elevates its sonic mangling capabilities to an entirely new level!

Structure

The plug-in consists of four essential blocks:

  • Dynamics-flattener module (one-knob controlled input signal compressor)
  • Diode-clipper distortion
  • Three multi-mode filter sections
  • Optionally activated signal limiter

The plug-in offers nine different connection topologies between its filters and diode-clipper. Filters can process the signal before or after it gets fed into the diode-clipper, but some of the configurations even allow the filters to work alongside the clipper, which greatly increases the possible sonic palette.

Devastor’s filters are not simply the peaking EQ type which is commonly used in classic multiband distortion units: rather, they are like those found in analogue synthesizers (low pass, high pass, band pass and band reject) with adjustable resonance and cutoff parameters. As a result, Devastor has a completely unique sound. Just check out the factory content and hear for yourself!

Versatile and advanced

Devastor can be used to distort and enhance a wide range of sounds, from full-on acid synth sounds to guitar fuzz or an analogue amp with speaker combo. It can even be used with drums to make them sound dirtier and more dynamic! Devastor isn’t just good at creating distorted, monster sounds: it can also be used subtly to improve the timbre and character of gentler sounds. For example, reducing the preamp gain, increasing the threshold, and selecting a soft-knee for the dynamics will bring out more warmth and detail in a sound without introducing distortion.

When designing Devastor, we applied special antialiasing techniques to the output signal to make sure it was devoid of aliasing (one of the reasons why digital distortion units can sound so cold and un-musical). As a result, Devastor has a warm, musical, and very high-quality sound.

We would like to invite you to listen to the audio examples to whet your appetite and to check out the demo version for yourself if you need any more convincing. Devastor uses algorithms of such high quality that you’d be forgiven in a blind test for wondering if the sound has somehow been sent from the computer to an external analogue distortion unit and back into the computer again!

Features

  • Probably the best diode-clipper emulation on the market today
  • Analogue-modelled filters of extremely high quality (refined filter models)
  • Dynamics flattener (with improved peak detection and more natural envelopes)
  • Optional output limiter
  • Tag-based preset browser

7.Wave Box

by AudioThing

Wave Box

Wave Box is a dynamic dual waveshaper plugin that can be used for both symmetrical and asymmetrical distortion. A waveshaper is a type of distortion in which the input signal is mapped to the output by applying a fixed or variable shaping function.

Wave Box features two separate waveshapers that can be mixed together while being modulated by 2 LFOs and 1 Envelope Follower. You can design your own waveshaping curves by combining and adjusting 6 pre-defined functions (tanh, sinh, sin, linear, floor, round). Wave Box can range from mild tube-flavoured overdrive to extreme digital harshness.

Symmetrical vs Asymmetrical Waveshaping

When a shaping function is applied equally to both the positive and negative part of the signal (symmetrical waveshaping), odd harmonics are generated. Instead, when a shaping function is applied only to either the positive or the negative part (asymmetrical waveshaping), even harmonics are generated.

In Asymmetrical Mode (± on), the first shaping function is applied to the positive part while the second shaping function is applied to the negative. The Bias, in this case, controls an offset added between the positive and negative part of the signal.

In Symmetrical Mode (± off), both shaping functions are applied to the whole signal. The Bias, in this case, controls the mix between the two functions.

Features

  •  2 Waveshapers
  •  6 Shaping Functions
  •  2 LFOs with 6 Waveforms
  •  Envelope Follower
  •  Oversample up to 16x

8. FutzBox Native

by McDSP

FutzBox Native

Please Note: This product is the Native version. You can purchase the HD version HERE.

FutzBox is a distortion and noise generator plug-in for creating low fidelity versions of audio signals.

Typical post productions require distorted, or ‘futzed’ versions of dialog and other tracks. Simulations of radios, cell phones, and televisions are now available in a single software product. The warmth and crunch that certain great valve gear brought to classic recordings is still missed today. Although many companies have tried to emulate classic valve hardware, we developed a proprietery new method for getting an authentic valve emulation

With 6 modes of Distortion A (Triode) and another 6 modes of Distortion B (Pentode), this plugin can give you many different colors and flavors of distortion from soft and warm to edgy and crunchy. Push this plugin and it will bite back! Further shape your sound with The Varislope Equalizer Section of the Plugin.

Features

Distortion Modes:

Distortion Types A (Triode) & B (Pentode): Mode 1 has a smoother tone and upon moving towards mode 6 the tone becomes edgier resulting in more breakup of the sound. Both A & B Distortion types have different characteristics on all 6 modes.

Input Gain / Stereo Link:

Input Gain drives the signal harder into the valve circuit dialing in more distortion. Adjust this control as a drive control for more or less stauration

The Stereo Link switch enables the channel link mode for the 2 channels. So the Left channel will also control the right channel settings

Varislope Equalizer:

The Bass gain peaks at a frequency of 65Hz. The Bass Cut is a high pass filter. The Mid/High frequency boost control gives a bell type curve at 2.5kHz / 4kHz /12kHz, selectable. The ‘Mid Cut’ cuts mid frequencies at 1kHz. The ‘LPF – Low Pass Frequency’ control will allow the high frequencies to be cut when excessive distortion is used, smoothing the resulting sound.

Special Features:

  • Post/ Pre EQ Button (New): Put the EQ section before or after the Distortion Section
  • Smooth Mode Button (New): Makes the signal louder with less harsh peaks
  • Wet/Dry Fader (New): A Wet/Dry Mix control allowing you to mix in as much of the processed signal as needed

12.CrushStation

by Eventide

CrushStation

Drive your Tone from Creamy Saturation to a Brutal Sonic Assault

CrushStation is a versatile, best-in-class, stereo distortion platform for your Mac or PC. Its controls can drive your tone from creamy saturation to a brutal sonic assault. But distortion is just the starting point. CrushStation brings multi-effects to the mix by adding a three-band EQ, Compression, Octave Mix and, Eventide’s unique take on failing hardware, the Sag control. Use the MIX Control to blend your dry signal with CrushStation to create parallel compression, distortion, and other creative effects.

Fix, Fit & Feature

CrushStation’s combination of ingredients creates a plugin that excels at the three broad ways distortion effects can be deployed. FX expert and author, Alex Case, refers to them as the “3Fs”: FIT, FIX and FEATURE:

  • FIX” a weak snare track by adding just a bit of Grit & Compression.
  • “FIT” finesse the lead into your mix by adding a bit of warmth and bottom.
  • “FEATURE” the lead by crushing it ‘til it hurts.

Features

  • 35 PRESETS painstakingly tailored to cover all the bases.
  • DRIVE from shallow subtle boost to deep overdrive distortion.
  • GRIT and SUSTAIN push into fuzz territory.
  • SAG was inspired by Eventide’s experience of the sound of dying analogue gear; the power rail sags and the amp starts sputtering, cutting out and sounding ‘broken’.
  • MIX in higher and lower OCTAVES then turn up the DRIVE and SUSTAIN to crush them together to form massive new textures.
  • GRIT for low-end, gritty, chugging sounds.
  • 3-Band EQ to shape your tone.
  • GATE your signal to tame an aggressive distortion output, or get aggressive with high threshold gating and dry MIX for parallel gated crunch.
  • RIBBON lets you ‘play’ the effect in real-time and provides dynamic and fluid control to morph back and forth between the settings of your choice.
  • HOTSWITCH allows you to instantly switch between two different distinct settings within the same preset at the push of a button.
  • MIXLOCK keeps MIX control constant as you audition presets.
  • Available for Mac and PC as VST, AAX, and AU plug-in.

Play It Live

Originally developed for the Eventide H9 Harmonizer® pedal, CrushStation has been enhanced for experimentation and live performance and fine-tuned for your desktop, laptop or iPad. Like all H9 series plug-ins, CrushStation is designed to ‘play’. The Ribbon lets you sweep the effect between two completely different settings. On one end you can have a gritty dark EQ, and on the other a wall of sound using heavy Compression, Sag, and Octaves during a solo or intense transition. Even a dramatic effect can become boring if it remains static throughout a track. Use the Ribbon to add a bit of ‘life’ while you’re mixing. For desktop users, plug in a MIDI keyboard and gain control of the Ribbon via the mod wheel for tactile and nuanced morphs and sweeps.

Presets Make It Easy

The plug-in comes loaded with 35 Factory Presets that cover the many ways that you’ll want to use it. Presets capable of adding spice, flair, crude and crunch to suit a variety of production styles. Get guitars, bass and synth to sit perfectly in the mix by dialling in warmth and depth with “PunkRock Lobster.” The Grit control in “Fat n Snappy” adds preamp-style distortion that can help bring out kicks in the mix with. “Big Pop Octaves” adds subtle distortion and lower octaves for unique pitch blending vocal effects. Further fine-tune your sound using the three-band EQ to tame cymbals and vocal sibilance.

14. Grind

by Audio Damage

Grind

A true powerhouse of audio warfare, Grind puts the “damage” in Audio Damage. From subtle tube-style saturation to full-on mangled wavetable distortion, Grind is a Swiss Army Knife of sound design.

Grind consists of three main blocks: wavetable lookup, into algorithmic saturation/distortion/, and finally to a multi-mode filter. The wavetable module uses the amplitude of the incoming signal to replace the sample with one from 15 different linearly-interpolated wavetables, chosen for their mangling potential. Window size and phase controls provide further tone-shaping possibilities.

The next stop is the algorithm module, with eleven different distortion and saturation algorithms, from simple soft-knee saturation on up to full-on sine warping.

After this, the signal passes through a multi-mode filter stage, with eleven different filter models to choose from, including “vintage digital” versions from the early days of plugin development, on up to our modern analogue-modelled MS20-style lowpass and highpass synth filters. A tempo-synced LFO provides motion for the filter frequency, and a final stage of soft clipping and DC filtering tames the output.

Make no mistake: this is not a subtle, polite tool. With careful tuning of the provided presets, it can be tamed to normal filtering and saturation duties, but on the whole, it is a noisy, snorting beast of a plug-in, and is happiest with Full Metal audio destruction.

18. Redoptor 2

by D16 Group

Redoptor 2

High-Quality Vintage Tube Distortion effect

Overview

The organic sound of a tube amplifier being pushed into breakup has been the gold standard for overdriven and distorted tones for as long as musicians have been intentionally distorting their signals. The gentle natural compression and rich blend of even and odd harmonics produced by analogue tube circuitry make any effected signal feel more powerful, punchy, and alive.

Unlike solid-state transistor and fuzz circuits which only produce odd harmonics and limit the incoming signal in an unnatural and unresponsive way, Redoptor smoothly and dynamically responds to the changes in volume of incoming audio, just like a real tube amplifier. This means that louder sounds are saturated with more crunch and delicious harmonics, while softer and naturally decaying sounds clean up gradually. This creates a very sonically pleasing distortion.

Exact circuit emulation

In addition to its spot-on modelling of hot vacuum tubes being pushed into glorious, creamy distortion, Redoptor packs several features that allow it to accurately mimic the behaviour of a complex analogue circuit with all its interactive and complementary components.

Redoptor’s adjustable tube bias parameter creates subtle amplification of even harmonics and gentle transient reshaping in the signal. Every individual element of the plugin’s signal chain has similarly been designed to capture the subtleties and dynamics of proper high-quality analogue tube distortion.

Completely adjustable preamp

Redoptor expands on classic tube guitar amplifier circuit design by offering total control of the preamp’s frequency range. The cut-off point for both high and low tones may be set before the signal is amplified and distorted, allowing for incredible versatility in sound shaping – from lo-fi to full-spectrum.

Parametric EQ

While many typical amplifiers and emulations rely on a fixed graphical equalizer offering limited control, Redoptor features a powerful parametric equalizer with independent gain and frequency control of 4 bands.

Independent stereo channel processing

Although based on the mono signal paths of vintage guitar amplifiers, Redoptor is a fully functioning stereo tube distortion with an independent path for each channel in the stereo signal. This allows each side to have completely different harmonics and distortion added to it. So, synth sounds, for example, can benefit from enhanced definition and stereo imaging in addition to the analogue feel offered by the tube distortion emulation.

Dynamics under control

A built-in pre-gain compressor module and master output limiter provide even more freedom to sculpt the perfect saturated sound. These two elements are studio essentials for creative gain staging. The preliminary compressor adds punch and controls your signal’s dynamic range before it hits the highly responsive distortion stage. The master output limiter tames unruly peaks and polishes your signal as it leaves the plug-in.

Unique character

Redoptor perfectly emulates the behaviour of classic hot-rodded tube guitar amplifier circuits, allowing it to sound just as good as its real-world analogue ancestors.

Guitarists working in the digital realm will feel perfectly at home with Redoptor. Those who have played through an excellent high-gain tube amp will find the plug-in’s warmth, crunch, responsiveness, and singing overtones immediately familiar.

Producers and electronic musicians will also find Redoptor indispensable for the high-quality distortion, rich harmonics, and attitude it brings to their sounds.

Use it to re-amp guitar parts, fatten drum loops, sweeten arpeggiated synths, beef up bass lines, or heat up any sterile audio and you’ll feel the difference from its warm, rich, and truly unique character brings to your music.

19. MDistortionMB

by MeldaProduction

MDistortionMB

MDistortionMB is an extremely versatile distortion plugin designed mainly for guitars and synths. Thanks to its multiband core, it can be used on any track or even applied to the whole mix. Subtle or be over-the-top, it produces everything from mild clean amps to completely sick devastated disturbances.

Features

  • Generalized amp simulation – MDistortionMB implements a generalized amp simulation, rather than providing particular existing amps. It can simulate a whole set of amps and contains a set of 12 predefined sounds organized by styles, such as metal or rock.
  • 5 purely digital distortion algorithms are provided as a supplement for those who really need a unique sound. All of them are combined together and with the amp simulation, can provide the power you always dreamed of.
  • Dual user interface – the plugin is not only extremely versatile, but also quick and easy-to-use thanks to 2 graphical user interfaces. First there is a simple default one with several predefined modes, but just a few controls, which lets you start quickly and easily without any knowledge. All you need to do is choose what you want and use a few knobs. And the plugins also has an advanced mode, which provides all the extreme features the plugin offers.
  • 1-6 fully configurable independent bands built on 3 perfectly transparent crossover algorithms (analog, linear-phase and hybrid) with fully adjustable limits and input gains. Includes peak meters for all bands and the master.
  • Continuously adjustable oscillator shape – every oscillator in our plugins is defined by a mix of predefined oscillator shapes, custom waveforms edited using our MeldaProduction Envelope System (MES), step-sequencer and several methods for algorithmic postprocessing. It is the most advanced approach for defining oscillator shapes.
  • 4 global modulators – in each instance you can have up to 4 fully-featured modulators that can modulate any set of parameters including other modulators! In this way you can make the sound move in time, be less static and more interesting. Each modulator works as LFO, follower, midi/audio triggered ADSR envelopes, a pitch detector or even a combination.
  • Up to 8 channels surround processing – our plugins can handle not only mono and stereo signals, but also up to 8 channels of surround audio, making them ideal for audio production for movies, games etc.
  • Full randomization – using a single button you can generate completely new settings. By clicking the button you can walk through the billions of possible settings and find the best one for you! And if that’s too much, you can just hold ctrl and MDistortionMB will only slightly modify existing settings.
  • Adjustable up-sampling 1x-16x to minimize aliasing and get an even clearer sound.
  • Extremely advanced and easy-to-use user interface – our products are always designed to enhance the workflow. You can easily change all values, fine-tune each control in multiple ways. Easy orientation in a standardized GUI, textual editing and smooth visualization with almost unlimited zooming are standard in all of our plugins. Moreover our plugins are the world first (and still the only ones), which support resizable and stylable GUI’s.
  • Automatic synchronization to host tempo – every oscillator and modulator in the plugin can automatically synchronize to the host providing as natural a sound as possible while not offending other tracks.
  • MIDI controllers with MIDI learn – you can map any parameter to any MIDI controller or MIDI keyboard and control it realtime or record and automate it.
  • Very fast, optimized for SSE and SSE2 processors.
  • Global preset management and online preset exchange – using a title button you can save your settings (which are shared on the computer) so you can easily access these in other songs. Moreover all plugins can automatically share your presets and download presets of other users from our servers (if this feature is enabled). We are building a community and you can be a part of it!
  • Fully Automatable.

System Requirements

Windows

  • Windows Vista / 7 / 8 / 10 (32-bit or 64-bit)
  • VST / VST3 / AAX compatible host (32-bit or 64-bit)
  • Intel/AMD processor with SSE2 support

Always use 32-bit plugins in 32-bit hosts, or 64-bit plugins in 64-bit hosts!

64-bit plugins can’t work in 32-bit hosts even if the operating system is 64-bit. Do NOT use 32-bit plugins in 64-bit hosts. They would have to be bridged and can become slow and unstable.

Mac OS X

  • Mac OS X (10.7 and newer, 32-bit or 64-bit)
  • VST / VST3 / AU / AAX compatible host (32-bit or 64-bit)
  • Intel/AMD processor with SSE2 support

Note: Please check your product PDF documentation for more information and installation instructions.

by Kuassa

EFEKTOR FZ3603 Fuzz

The Good Old Fuzzy Woolly Distortion Box – Fuzz FX Engine

Note: Also available in in the EFEKTOR Distorion Bundle.

Probably the most primitive type of distortion device. Instantly recognizable from the wooly, gritty, and compressed ‘artificial’ sound. There are five types of buzzy tone benders on the FZ3603.

Kuassa Efektor is a new line of plug-ins which consists of several of most requested effect units. The grandfather of ‘artificial’ effect units. by Kuassa

Loopcloud Music App from Loopmasters.com

EFEKTOR OD3603 Overdrive

The Warm, Crunchy, Cranked Amp Tone – Overdrive FX Engine

Back in the early days of electric guitars and amplification, guitar players didn’t care if their guitar sound were altered to ‘breaking’ by the very limit of their amps. They pushed the gain on their amps for just one thing LOUD. It resulted in crunchy saturated sound, added sustain, raw, but responded very well to the dynamics of the playing. Straight for rock n roll in a box, you may choose from five models of overdrive:

  • Blues Overdrive: Imitates overdriven British amps
  • Boutique Overdrive: Acustom made overdrive, sounds fat and dynamic
  • Mad Overdrive: Hard, thick and retains the dynamic of your playing
  • Modern Overdrive: A new model of overdrive that can be pushed into dense distortion
  • Pro Overdrive: Warm and tight, the classic screamer sound
  • Zepp Fuzz: The vintage british rock sound

There are always demands for more ‘gain’ – the search for the perfect distortion sound that never ends. DS3603 brings five types of massive amount of gain for demolition.

DS3603 Distortion clips the input signal by increasing the signal to maximum overload. Adding musical harmonics and overtones while still maintains the characteristics of the originalsound, or not. You choose. For heavy metal guitars or abrasive and pounding industrial drums, seek from five types of distortion:

by Blue Cat Audio

Blue Cat's AcouFiend

Creative Feedback is Not Evil

Blue Cat’s AcouFiend is an acoustic feedback simulator plug-in that can make your guitars scream, growl, or sing, even at low volume or through headphones, and it gives you total control over it!

AcouFiend simulates the acoustic feedback (a.k.a “Larsen effect”) well known to guitarists playing loud and close to their speaker… Except that here, you have total control over the effect.

You can choose when and how to trigger the feedback, on sustained notes or chords. The plug-in lets you select the main harmonic of the feedback, and you can even choose to transpose it for more creative effects. Of course, it can be entirely automated or controlled via MIDI. And since it is a plug-in, it is not just for guitars: create screaming synths, sustained vocal harmonies and more.

29. OVC-128

by Voxengo

OVC-128

OVC-128 is a massively-oversampled soft/hard clipping effect AudioUnit, AAX and VST plugin for professional music production applications.  A common use for this plug-in is hard-clipping before the final peak limiter.  This is an effective approach in contemporary electronic music when loudness is boosted using a clipper plug-in while minor excessive peaks are absorbed by a final peak limiter that applies no additional gain itself.

Clipping the tracks via OVC-128 is practically similar to clipping using high-quality outboard analog gear.  At 44.1kHz source sample rate, the internal audio sample rate of OVC-128 is a whopping 5.6 MHz!

A perfect combination for contemporary electronic music production is OVC-128 followed by Voxengo Elephant mastering limiter in the “EL-C” or “EL INS” mode.  This combination produces both energy and smoothness.

Note that OVC-128 is a relatively CPU-demanding effect plug-in, it requires a higher-end processor for comfortable use.  Performing 128X-oversampled clipping on a single stereo track is computationally similar to performing simple clipping on 1000 tracks.

Applications

  • EDM production
  • Drum bus clipping
  • Soft saturation

Features

  • 128X linear-phase oversampling
  • Clipping hardness control
  • Stereo processing
  • 64-bit floating point processing

30. Ravage Lite

by SoundSpot

Ravage Lite

When you’re striving to get that big & full sound like you hear on commercial releases, often the key ingredient in the mix is distortion.

Distortion adds additional harmonics to a signal, which increases the perceived volume. By increasing the perceived volume, you are able to reduce the peak levels in your mix which translates into more headroom for better masters.

Ravage Lite is a scaled-back version of our forthcoming Ravage Creative Distortion plugin, which is perfect for when you just need a touch of extra warmth and sparkle in a highly CPU friendly way.

The Ravage Lite has just one flavour of distortion which is a combination of the 6 distortion styles found in its big brother. The Ravage Lite also includes up to 16x oversampling.

31.Screamo

by W.A Production

Screamo

Loud & Proud

Sometimes the wildest ideas are the best and Screamo is proof… a crazy concept that just works! We’ve taken distortion to the next level by wrapping up several familiar ideas within one plugin, resulting in a talk-box / screamer hybrid that can groove along with your track. Forget about complex audio routing and syncing up multiple LFOs. With Screamo that’s handled for you as half of the plugin interface features a dedicated waveform shaper which can modulate resonant filters, distortion and gain to add life to any audio. Bring your bass lines out from the shadows with some subtle movement or make a synth line scream with in-your-face rhythmic overdrive – the choice is yours.

Smear

Two resonant shelving filters give a talk-box-like effect when used with restraint or full-on screamer when pushed hard. 3 different styles of smear effect can be switched: either upward, downward or two-way frequency modulation.

Drive

Use the Drive control to make your percussion loops crack or synths cut through the mix. Push your signal from subtle saturation to extreme overdrive. Soft, medium and hard style distortion modes can be activated.

Sync Everything

The Smear, Drive and Makeup controls are all synced together allowing you to create tempo-synced scream effects that would normally be very complex to achieve with normal plugin routing.

Use the bottom row of Shape, Speed and Smooth dials to design your waveform, controlling the 3 parameters on the top row. It’s totally possible to create a slowly evolving talk-box effect, or crazy fluttering overdrive – and everything in between.

All in one

Use the simple controls to dial in your individual style or utilise the onboard presets for one-click transformations. The 25 factory presets are designed to get you up and running quickly, with settings that veer from subtle saturation to wild overdriven rhythms. These are all easily accessible from the plugin menu and of course, you can save your own settings as user presets too.

A real-time level monitor and gain control are essential for accurate A/Bing to check the results of Screamo’s processing power.

W. A. Production are real-life producers making creative plugins to help you achieve studio-quality processing quickly and easily. Enjoy!

Features

  • 25 Creative Presets for one-click transformations

32. Faturator

by kiloHearts

Faturator

Grit, oomph, fatness, raw, color, or just that certain something. Sometimes your sounds need a shovel of dirt. Faturator is standing ready to tear whatever you throw at it apart violently, and then gently (but firmly) put it back together fatter and rawer than ever.

Faturator can do everything from adding subtle and warm gritty character to your sounds to slam them into a wall of heavy saturation and digital fuzz. Contrary to many distortion effects, Faturator will preserve the dynamics of your sound and work its wonders on it regardless of input gain.

For the heck of it, it can also color the input to emphasize a specific tone of the sound, or throw some stereo width into the mix. Everything to give you a fast and easy way of making any input come alive.

What’s a Snapin?

This plugin is a “snapin”. That means you can use it as a regular VST/AU plugin, or you can use it with our snapin hosts Multipass and Snap Heap where you can combine effects in amazing ways.

System Requirements

These are the minimum recommended system requirements for running kHs ONE:

CPU:

  • 2 GHz or faster

Memory:

  • 1 GB or more

36. Predatohm

by OhmForce

Predatohm

The fastest Way To Get That BIG PHAT Sound

It’s no easy task to turn a lifeless signal into a warm, punchy sound. Predatohm, a multi-band overdrive with many useful features and capable of producing all kinds of distortion from vintage tube to aggressive blast, does it very well. So well, in fact, that it received a best plugin award from Computer Music!

Complete Enhancing Arsenal

To put it technically, Predatohm is a 4-band distortion with compressor/expander features for each band. To start with, on each channel 13 distortion types cover a wide range of options. Moreover, they control not only tones but also stereo widener for mono-to-stereo processing and a creative feedback generator.

Get that Vintage Tone

Guitar players know how valuable a warm, vintage tube sound full of harmonics is. The good news is that you can get this tonal character out of Predatohm very easily. Welcome back to the golden era of tube amps! Used on vocals, you can go as far as to get megaphone or radio effects!

PHAT’en any Sound

Actually, Predatohm is good to any source that sounds too dry or thin. On activating, you will immediately add bass punch to your rhythmic section. Your listeners will not be able to help but marvel, like “D*mn, this synth line is so PHAT!!!” Of course, you can push distortion even further, but you better mind your speakers!

Simplicity of Use

Despite a large palette of controls and possibilities, Predatohm remains a very simple plugin to use. You will quickly understand how its interface is organized, be it the classic or the funky skin. For usability’s sake, all of the parameters are automatable via MIDI, as with all Ohm Force plugins.

Two Skins, Two Paths to the Force

Ohm Force plugins come with two skins: the classic one gives you all the controls in a neat, old school analogue rack-like interface. It’s a good point to start learning and get familiar with the plugin’s capabilities. The other one, called ‘funky’, embodies the true spirit of Ohm Force.

38. Blue Cat’s Destructor

by Cat Audio

Blue Cat's Destructor

The Distortion & Amp Sims Factory That Actually Goes To 11 And Beyond!

Blue Cat’s Destructor is a powerful distortion and amp sim modelling tool capable of simulating any kind of distortion: from harsh digital destruction to smooth compression or guitar amp simulation (works for clean tones too!), and most importantly, yours!

It is delivered with hundreds of presets and predefined models, either inspired by existing gear (guitar & bass amps or cabinets, compressors, pedals, tape machines…) or created by our destructive minds.

But the plug-in is not limited to these predefined models: all parameters of existing presets are fully editable, which gives you access to an unlimited number of distortion simulations – no need to purchase extra presets or amp models to build your custom tone. And if you want to keep it simple, use tone maps to create new sounds without diving into the details.

Based on a perceptual model rather than on electronic designs or impulse responses, the signal chain is reduced to its bare minimum, simplifying the process of tweaking the tone and making it fit into the mix. You can also load and transform your own impulse responses to add color to your tone.

Thanks to its exclusive adaptive shaper, it is reactive to the playing of instrumentists, providing a very natural feeling, similar to analog gear.

To make the look and feel of the plug-in fit with your favorites tones, it is bundled with more than 1600 visual styles that can be selected separately for each module.

It is also possible to import reference curves measured with Blue Cat’s FreqAnalyst Multi to quickly match existing tones.

If you are looking for a complete amp simulation solution with effects, check out Blue Cat’s Axiom. For frequency-selective or multiband distortion, the plug-in can be used in combination with Blue Cat’s MB-7 Mixer.

Typical applications – Distortion modelling, guitar amp simulation, non-linear tone-shaping channel strip, overdrive, bit crushing, analog compression, hard & soft clipping, colouring, tape saturation, Lo-fi, fuzz, digital noise, aliasing, filter effects.

41. MBitFunMB

by MeldaProduction

MBitFunMB

MBitFunMB is a serious tool for extreme distortion lovers. It converts incoming audio into limited fixed-point precision of 1-16 bits per sample and lets you access each bit with several operations and finishes the processing with a low-pass filter. All with up to 6 independent bands, 4 modulators…

FROM LIGHT DISTORTION TO MAXIMUM BRUTALITY

Bit changing 16th bit you won’t do much, but it can still give you the missing character. The true power is however in the brutality the plugin is capable of. 4 processors can mess up any bit, merge them with shifted versions of the same sample, a delayed sample or even anything you send through the plugin’s sidechain. Limitless creativity and mainly fatal results.

MODULATION HEAVEN

Looking for a little extra variation in your sound? Look no further than our extensive modulation options. Modulate any parameter from sources such as an LFO, audio level follower, envelope generator, randomize, or pitch detector. Your sound will never be static again.

MELDAPRODUCTION GOODIES

You can also expect to find the standard MeldaProduction goodies: 16x upsampling, M/S, surround support as well as other channel modes, A-H presets for easy comparisons, and our easy to use integrated help system.

Features

The most advanced user interface on the market – stylable, resizable, GPU accelerated

  • Modern user interfaces must not only be easy and quick to use, but also versatile and the whole visual appearance should inspire you. MBitFunMB features the most advanced GUI engine on the market. It is still the first and only GUI engine, which is freely resizable and stylable. It also lets you choose between knobs, sliders or buttons, whichever you like the most.
  • The plugin can look as an ancient vintage gear, if you are working on old-school rock music. Or as super-modern futuristic device if you are working on modern electronic music.
  • If your display doesn’t have a high resolution, you can make the plugin smaller. If the fonts are too small, you can make the plugin bigger and save your eyes.
  • All the graphics is accelerated using your GPU, graphical interface, providing ultimately quick response and keep your CPU focused on the audio.

Unique visualisation engine with classic meters and time graphs

  • Your ears should always be the main judge, but a smart metering system can often be a huge help. MBitFunMB provides the most advanced metering system out there. The plugin can display the measurements of all relevant values using classic meters, or it can even show them in time using the time graphs. Everything is customisable as usual.

1-6 fully configurable independent bands

  • MBitFunMB provides 3 perfectly transparent crossover algorithms (analog with slopes from 12dB/oct to 120dB/oct, linear-phase and hybrid) with fully adjustable limits, input gains and input panoramas. The audio quality of all of these algorithms is the maximum money can buy. The plugin provides metering for each of the bands and the master.

4 exceptionally versatile modulators

  • MBitFunMB provides 4 fully-featured modulators which can control any set of parameters including other modulators. Each modulator works as an LFO, level follower, midi/audio triggered ADSR enveloper, randomizer or pitch detector, or even a combination and can listen to the plugin’s side-chain.
  • You can make the sound move in time, be less static and more interesting. You can make various parameters depend on the input (or the sidechain) level or even listen to the input pitch.

Adjustable oscillator shape technology

  • Every oscillator in MBitFunMB uses the most versatile oscillator algorithm on the market. It provides mix of predefined oscillator shapes, custom waveforms edited using our MeldaProduction Envelope System (MES), a step-sequencer and several methods for algorithmic postprocessing.
  • It also provides a harmonic mode, which lets you control the harmonic content instead of oscillator shape. This is especially useful for high frequency oscillators.

4 multiparameters

  • MMultiBandBitFun lets you control multiple parameters using a single so-called multiparameter. This may not only come handy for automation for example, but the multiparameters are very smart units and you can use them to smartly morph between banks of settings for example. All in the name of creativity!

M/S, single channel, up to 8 channels surround processing…

  • MBitFunMB can handle not only mono and stereo signals, but also mid/side encoding for stereo field processing, separate left & right channels, separate mid or side signal and up to 8 channels of surround audio. It is perfect for audio production for music, movies, games…

Smart randomization

  • Being creative is sometimes complicated and one often needs an inspiration. By clicking a single button you can walk through the billions of possible settings and find the best one for you. The smart randomization algorithm wisely selects good sounding combinations of parameters. It can even randomize modulators for you. And if that’s too much, you can just hold ctrl and MBitFunMB will just slightly modify existing settings.

Automatic gain compensation (AGC)

  • Most plugins change loudness of the output audio, which makes browsing presets inconvenient, not mentioning randomization. MBitFunMB includes automatic gain compensation, which quickly adapts to current settings and ensures the output sounds as loud as the input. This even protects you from thinking that something sounds better in cases it is just louder.

Safety limiter

  • Some plugins can intensely increase gain when exposed to specific audio materials. MBitFunMB provides a safety brickwall limiter, which ensures the output stays below 0dB and prevents your equipment and your ears from potential danger automatically.

Adjustable up-sampling 1x-16x

  • Digital audio provides very superior audio quality compared to ancient analog gear, but there are problems too. The main problem is the aliasing, which may be noticeable, when using nonlinear processes such as compression or saturation. MBitFunMB includes both minimum-phase and high-quality linear-phase upsampling algorithms, which avoids the aliasing.

Synchronization to host tempo

  • Every oscillator and modulator in the plugin can automatically synchronize to the host. But it can be out-of-sync if you want of course.

MIDI controllers with MIDI learn

  • MMultiBandBitFun contains a powerful MIDI processor, which listen to MIDI controllers and MIDI keyboard and control any parameters realtime.

Extremely fast, optimized for newest AVX capable processors

  • Computers are now extremely fast, but the algorithms are more complex and projects bigger, so we still need to use the processing power with care. MBitFunMB uses the fastest algorithms, takes advantage of the newest processor capabilities, lets your GPU hangle the graphics, and shares the resources with other MeldaProduction plugins. The plugin is among the fastest on the market, yet it provides the best possible audio quality.

Global preset management and online preset exchange

  • MMultiBandBitFun presets are carefully stored in a system database and you can quickly access then from any project in any host. The plugin can automatically share your presets and download presets of other users from our servers. We are building a community and you can be a part of it!

Supports VST, VST3, AU and AAX interfaces on Windows & Mac, both 32-bit and 64-bit

  • MBitFunMB supports all major hosts on both platforms. Check system requirements for information about compatibility and installation.

No dongle nor internet access is required for activation

  • How many times did you forget your USB dongle? We are an honest company and expect the same from our customers. Our software uses licence files to activate your software. And the licences are to-person, so you can use it on all your computers as long as you are the user.

Free-for-life updates

  • When you buy the software you are entitled to free updates, forever. No more money wasted on major upgrades like it is with other companies. And we upgrade our software a lot!
