3. Noize 2 Upgrade from Noize Retro

by: denise

Noize 2 Upgrade from Noize Retro

Note: This is an Upgrade for owners of Noize Retro. The full version of Noize 2 is also available.

What is Noize?

Producer Jamie Boyle from Sweden won denise’s 2018 plugin contest. Based on his idea, denise created an adaptive noise generation plugin that takes noise generation to the next level. Noise is a secret weapon used by many professional producers to enhance and flavour their tracks: for example by making digital samples and synths sound more natural, adding grit and power to bass synths, leads and paths, and adding character and sustain to drums and beats. It turned out a huge success and almost a year later, after gaining lots of users and feedback, denise now introduces the Noize 2.0.

What is Noize 2?

The Noize 2.0 introduces three new noise types and the option to load and edit your own noise profiles – features that have often been requested by the community. When denise actually tested the plugin, it turned out even more creative and versatile than they could anticipate. For example, they found out using a reversed vocal sample on drums and rhythmical synths have a surprisingly great effect.

Features

  • 8 Built-in Noise Types – Choose between eight types of noise and apply additional filtering.
  • Load & Edit Your Own Samples – Load your own sounds and apply filters and pitch control embedded in the sample editor window.
  • Real-time Adaptive – Generate noise that adapts to the volume of your track, in real-time.
  • Solo Mode – Isolate the noise signal and apply additional effects.
  • Easy to Tweak – Optimize the behaviour of the noise by tweaking the rise and fall time.
  • Fully resizable interface.

How do you use Noize 2?

There are many ways to use adaptive noise to enhance your tracks. Working strictly in the box, you can use Noize 2.0 to add power and aggressiveness to tight bass lines, add analog flavour to pads, lead-synths and percussion loops, create vintage sounding vocal parts and manipulate the attack and sustain of any element in your mix. If you are working on studio recordings instead, you can use Noize 2.0 to add width and depth to cleaned-up drum and percussion parts, add rome-tone from scratch and enhance the presence of guitars, strings and vocals.

Noize 2.0 makes this all very easy. Load Noize 2.0 on a track and mix in your favourite kind of noise with the adaptive mode turned on. You can then use the rise, fall, HPF, LPF and stereo features to tweak the behaviour and flavour of the adaptive noise. Using custom samples and combining the Noize 2.0 with additional effects, such as bit crushing, flanging, tap-delay and reverb, gives you many more ways of adding a creative touch to your music. To facilitate this, Noize 2.0 has a solo option that mutes the source signal so you can route the generated adaptive noise signal to an effects bus for adding any effects you like.

The real question is: when NOT to use noise.

System Requirements

Formats:

OSX:

  • OSX 10.7 or newer (Catalina included) (64-bit only)
  • VST, VST3, AU, AAX

Windows:

  • Windows 7 or newer (64-bit only)

5. El Clapo

by: Boz Digital Labs

El Clapo

Handclap Generator

El Clapo creates authentic-sounding handclap tracks with full control of crowd size, timing, dynamics, mic positioning, and more.

Handclaps remain a staple of popular music and film post, but in drum emulation software, synthesizers, and sound libraries, handclaps are treated as an afterthought. To get them to sound close to realistic, you have to go through a lot of complicated processing, sample layering, and track nudging. El Clapo is a one-of-a-kind plugin that can generate ultra-realistic handclap tracks, from a single intimate-sounding handclap to a raucous mob of 150 head-bangers. El Clapo even lets you control how sober or intoxicated the crowd is with adjustable round-robin timing control. It also features three mic adjustable positions with control of close/mid/room blend and width. Mic position controls also feature solo buttons and FX buttons that give you access to full-featured compressors and equalizers. El Clapo also features MIDI velocity control, panning, and a step sequencer with 12 editable patterns.

El Clapo is the first in a series of samples designed to make it simple to create clap tracks of any size. From a single clap to an entire crowd, you determine how the claps sound.

Realistic Claps

You determine the group size. You determine how sloppy they are. You control the microphone mix. Boz Digital Labs sampled multiple clappers at multiple layers and a bunch of round robins, from 3 different mic perspectives. The result is natural-sounding claps no matter how large the crowd.

Built-in Step Sequencer

Control with MIDI or the built-in step sequencer that lets you automate between 12 user-created patterns.

Cracking the Code

To create the plugin, Boz Digital Labs put a tremendous amount of thought into the process of recording and the way crowds time their handclaps. It came clear that having three microphones (close, mid, and room) was critical in terms of creating the difference between an intimate handclap track and a huge crowd. The plugin also takes into account the various types of processing that music or film-post mixers would use to make tracks fit in context. The end result is natural-sounding handclaps regardless of the size of the crowd, plus the ability to custom-tailor those tracks to suit the creative needs of any genre of program material you put El Clapo to work in.

Sound Engine

The ability to play 150 samples with multiple mic positions ran the risk of making a massive hit to CPU resources. To solve that problem, El Clapo does some work in the background. As the crowd size gets larger, rather than just playing back a large number of samples, El Clapo builds a new set of samples, which can be played back with low CPU usage.

Features

  • Easily generate ultra-realistic handclaps, from an intimate-sounding single clap to an out-of-control mob of 150.
  • Great for music and film post-production.
  • Three adjustable mic positions; close/mid and room.
  • Close and Room mic controls each feature a fully adjustable compressor with mix knob, 4-band EQ, and width control.
  • “Slop” control lets you adjust how tight or loose the claps are.
  • Simple, straightforward interface with access to advanced controls including velocity-sensing MIDI curve control, panning, timing, layer, and CPU-saving round-robin settings.
  • Built-in step sequencer with 12 editable patterns and adjustable speed.

9. RAW-Kick

by: Rob Papen

RAW-Kick

RAW-Kick is a product developed in conjunction with DJ Free-K and DJ Promo. Based on the legendary RAW synthesizer, RAW-Kick includes neat features and focus specifically designed for today’s demanding producers!

RAW-Kick offers three individual layers to design and build up your Kick drum sound, which is a common method often used by producers. But now, instead of using three separate products, you can use this method within one product. Each layer offers two modes. You can select a dedicated kick synthesizer model or use a sample-based layer. The ‘Kick Model’ type offers some new and unique features, for instance, the RAW amount. You can also control the harmonics which can have a firm impact on the sound, especially in combination with the many included distortion FX on board.

The ‘Sample’ type also has to offer some neat features like a multi-mode analogue modelled filter, two EQ sections and many FX algorithms with several types of distortion and other top-quality FX.

The Master section of RAW-Kick finishes it all off with an additional double EQ section and the MONO/STEREO FX to make your kick tight in its low end and wide in the mid/high range of the spectrum!

The Master section also offers you some neat control over all three layers at once, for speeding up your workflow creating the perfect RAW-Kick!

Industrial Strength Samples have created an Expansion for Raw-Kick which can be found on Loopmasters.

10. Le Snappet

by: Boz Digital Labs

Le Snappet

Realistic Finger Snap Generator

Le Snappet, like its brothers El Clapo and Das Boot, enables you to create ultra-realistic finger snaps, from a single snap to a smoke-filled club full of beat poet aficionados showing their appreciation, now that snapping is the new clapping (you can’t hold a beer and clap at the same time). Snap lets you control how intoxicated your crowd is via the Slop control, and also provides essential mix features, including front-to-back placement via mic blend and positioning controls for front, mid, and room mics. Plus, you don’t have to load up on processing plugins thanks to built-in compressors, EQ, and width control. Snap also features  MIDI velocity control and a step sequencer with 12 editable patterns.

Le Snappet is designed to make it simple to create snap tracks of any size. From a single snap to an entire crowd, you determine how the snaps sound.

You determine the group size. You determine how sloppy they are. You control the microphone mix. We sampled multiple snappers at multiple layers and a bunch of round robins, from 3 different mic perspectives. The result is natural-sounding snaps no matter how large the group.

Control with MIDI or the built-in step sequencer that lets you automate between 12 user-created patterns.

Features

  • Easily generate ultra-realistic finger snaps, from an intimate single snap to a crowd of new bohemians.
