1. NI Massive – Noise Filtering Pro Tips

In this video, Echo Sound Works shows you how to use a dedicated noise filter in NI Massive to have greater control and sound shaping capabilities over the noise oscillator

2. Future Bass Synth in Massive

3. Massive Side Chain (SC) Tips

In this video, Echo Sound Works will show you how to use the Side Chain Feature (SC) to give yourself more control over your sounds.

4. Future Bass LFO Pro Tip in Massive

In this video, Echo Sound Works shows you a great tip and trick to liven up your chord synths for Future Bass. Think Flume.

5. DJ Mustard Bass NI Massive

In this tutorial Echo Sound Works shows you how to make a DJ Mustard style bass in Massive.

DJ Mustard fuses Deep House with old school West Coast bass lines and created a style all his own. Learn how to incorporate these types of sounds in your music!

6. Dark Rnb Hip Hop Bass

In this tutorial Echo Sound Works shows you how to make an dark, gritty bass that would be perfect for Future Bass, OVO/Hip Hop and RNB.

7. Future Bass Wobble Synth

In this tutorial, Echo Sound Works will show you how to create a Future Bass wobble synth using Massive.

The key points to take away from this video aren’t what to use in the Oscillators, but rather how to introduce different rhythmic patterns of an LFO or Performer into the sound. This will allow you to modulate and automate those variations into your chord progression at any point, which will keep things interesting.

8. 3 Types Of Risers In Massive

In this tutorial, Echo Sound Works covers how to make 3 different types of riser FX in Massive.

I like to break down riser/transition FX into three categories:

1.) Tonal

2.) Noise

3.) Arp

Each riser has it’s own feel and brings it’s own flavor to any mix and sometimes blending all three together is the perfect recipe for building into a drop.

9. Doubling Effect ( How to widen any sound in MASSIVE )

In this tutorial, Echo Sound Works shows you a great tip and trick to widen almost any sound in Massive.

Massive has two delay FX, one is for your typical delay that creates an echo or flam type of sound, the other can be used as a pseudo doubler.

A very common trick to widen a sound or to create a stereo image from a mono source is to use an offset delay effect, usually in MS. You can do this same type of technique in Massive!

10. Indie Dance Bass (Moog Feel)

In this tutorial, Echo Sound Works shows you how to create a Indie Dance style bass that has nice Moog feel to it.

This is a good bass to use if you just want more character to a bass line because it’s not extremely digital sounding.

11. Keytracking Noise Pro Tip

In this tutorial, Echo Sound Works shows you a quick tip that will help make using the more interesting noise types in Massive.

White and Bright noise are two very “musical” sounding noises because they pair nicely with a wide range of sounds. Massive comes with some interesting noise types that can be hard to get to pair with a sound in a mix.

The key to getting the most out of noise types like Aluminum, Murmur or Waterpipe is to Keytrack the Color of the noise.

Check out the tutorial to see how this can make a big difference!

12. JP8000 Super Saw Lead with Massive

In this tutorial Echo Sound Works will show you how to create a lead sound that resembles a patch I made on a Roland JP8000.

It’s a big unison super saw type of sound. Perfect for multiple genres!

Check out the video to see how it’s done.

13. Phase Modulation Alternate Tunings

In this tutorial, Echo Sound Works shows you some alternate tunings that you can use with the Phase Modulation effect.

A very cool tool in Massive for Deep House/Future House bass sounds is the modulation oscillator and the Phase Modulation. This can take a normal sounding sine or saw wavetable and transform it into a FM style bass.

To make those sounds more interesting, you can use alternate tunings in your main oscillator for a more unique result.

Try using these tunings:

+4
+7
+14
+25
+27

Those will all be in normal tuning, meaning they won’t create interval stacks because of the Phase Modulation.

14. Tempo Synced Risers in Massive

In this quick tip video, Echo Sound Works will show you how to make sure your risers, sweeps or swells remain in sync with your tempo and productions.

This is a great video if you struggle making transitional FX!

15. Chill Poly Synth

In this tutorial, Echo Sound Works shows you how to make a chill poly synth in Massive.

It’s a hybrid sound that takes elements from Deep House and Chill Wave which makes it really versatile.

They key to this sound is combining two oscillators that are tuned normally with one being tuned to +7 (or a fifth). It also helps to add some velocity sensitivity to the sound via an envelope modulating the Cut Off filter.

Check out the video to hear the sound!

16. Ring Mod Tips and Tricks

This video explores how to use the Ring Mod effect in the MOD OSC.

This is a very powerful sound design tool and if you haven’t been using it you need to!

17. Multi Rhythm LFO’s in Massive

In this video, see how to use the full power of Massive’s LFO’s by learning how to automate the LFO rate while being tempo locked to your host DAW.

18. 3 Sound Design Mistakes To Avoid in Massive

3 Sound Design Mistakes To Avoid in Massive is a mini tutorial course that will show you three common pitfalls that seem to be pretty common for presets made in Massive.

19. Noise LFO Tips and Tricks For NI Massive

In this video, Echo Sound Works shows you a quick tip and trick that can add some character to almost any sound.

The LFO’s in Massive come with some unique shapes and one of the fun ones to play around with is the Noise Curve. Using this shape to modulate a the pitch, cut off, resonance, intensity etc., can really add some grit and edge to a sound.

20. Unison Wavetable Position in NI Massive

In this tutorial, Echo Sound Works talks about how to properly use the Wavetable Position slider in the Voicing tab.

This can either be a powerful sound design tool or a dud, it all depends on how you set it up.

There are some wavetables, ones that have a noticeable difference between the left and right WT Positions, that this slider will work better with.

To get the Unison WT Pos slider to work, you need to be working with a unison sound. Meaning more than once voice in the voices of unisono tab. Once you have that set up properly, the slider will cycle through the Unisons Voice’s WT Position, not the actual WT position in the oscillator. This makes it a very musical effect.
