Tube Amplifier
The amps of the Dutch company Koch are no longer an insider tip. Good tube sound, flexible, and in a fair price range – that’s the most important information in advance. The Studiotone Head could appeal to all guitarists who still want to use power amp heat and distortion at tolerable volumes. On the other hand, with 20 watts, the amp also provides clean reserves, which should be sufficient in most cases.
This brings us to the clean channel: it has fender-like qualities, from fat to sparkle you can help yourself here. The overdrive channel is a real hit – warm tube pressure between British-rough and American. Sufficient gain for many people. With the Overdrive Boost channel, the same sound is simply blown even harder, which also covers HiGain applications. The 3 sounds share a tone control – no problem in the studio anyway or in any live situation, because the pre-tuning between clean and overdrive is simply right, whereby 2 voicing switches (2 for mids, 3 for treble) effectively intervene in the sound.
A highlight not only in the studio but also when it’s getting tricky with the volume level in a live situation, a recording out with 2 simulated speaker types and microphone positions each is located at the back; if you want it to be silent, you can switch on the power soak and go directly into the desk completely without noise. The speaker outputs are suitable for all kinds of speakers, so you can choose the ideal speaker for your small head or take the right equipment for every possible application. Excellent tube sound with many useful features; not only for the studio!
