Year Two Collection

Important Note: Voltage Modular is required in order to use this product.

The Cherry Audio Year Two Collection assembles all of Cherry Audio’s killer “high-end” modules from Voltage Modular’s second year including SynthVoice, SynthVoice Filter, DCO-60, VCF-60, Chorus-60, AirWave, Poly AirWave, AirVector, AirStep, FM Station, Poly FM Station, EG Station, Poly EG Station, and the brand-new Polymode synthesizer module.

Products

Polymode is a complete instrument inspired by the legendary 70s Polymoog synthesizer. One of the world’s first polyphonic synthesizers, it excels at large pads, strings, and vocal-esque sounds, and its unique multiple filter implementation and mod routings give it a sound like no other synth.

SynthVoice is a complete semi-modular vintage synthesizer, featuring two oscillators, a multi-mode filter, an LFO, dual envelope generators, sample and hold, and spring reverb. It’s like having a classic ARP 2600 synthesizer in your modular rack.

SynthVoice Filter delivers the ballsy, pure analogue tonality of the ARP 2600 vintage synthesizer. It features lowpass and highpass modes, with selectable 12 or 24 dB/oct slopes.

DCO-60 models every element of the beloved classic Juno-106 synthesizer, from its self-oscillating filter to its dreamy chorus effect, all combined in a fully-polyphonic module, loaded with patch points, that has to be heard to be believed. Cherry Audio have even recreated the entire “A” bank of original factory presets.

VCF-60 is a separate module containing the highpass and lowpass filters from the DCO-60 vintage synthesizer module. With independently patchable sections and a self-resonating lowpass section, it’s the perfect replication of the classic 80’s Juno synth sound.

Chorus-60 is an expanded version of the DCO-60 chorus section and precisely replicates the giant, lush stereo spread of classic Roland Juno synthesizers. It adds stereo spread and wet/dry mix controls for added flexibility.

Miniverse

Introducing Miniverse from Cherry Audio

Cherry Audio has proclaimed May to be “Bob Moog Appreciation Month,” a month-long tribute to the genius of Dr. Robert A. Moog. To kick it off, Cherry Audio has released Miniverse , an absolutely authentic emulation of the Minimoog Model D® that debuted in 1971 and set the gold standard for all portable synthesizers to come.

Miniverse is a painstaking virtual emulation of the granddaddy of all portable synthesizers, the legendary Model D. Introduced in 1971, no other instrument is more associated with the word “synthesizer” than the iconic Minimoog® – it’s perhaps the best-known and loved analog synthesizer ever made. Though its innards weren’t identical to Moog’s massive modular synths, it shared the thick, juicy, “fat” analog sound that remains unchallenged 50 years later! It set the standard for future synthesizers, inspired whole new genres of music, and defined the sound of artists as diverse as Kraftwerk, Herbie Hancock, Rick Wakeman, Pink Floyd, Parliament, Gary Numan, and countless others.

Miniverse was conceived as the ultimate tribute to the original instrument

We focused on a single principle: absolute authenticity. In association with DSP master and frequent collaborator Mark Barton (MRB), we studied and measured every nuance, every curve, and every response of the audio. Even the Miniverse interface is a meticulous recreation of the Minimoog, from the maple cabinet and textured surface to the unmistakable “Cosmo” knobs and switches. We avoided the temptation to add extra features, such as additional LFOs or effects, which might distract from the spirit and vibe of the classic Model D. Instead, Miniverse portrays the pure, raw, powerful sound and feel of the classic original.

All About the Sound

Whether you’re seeking monstrous leads, funky basslines, or warm atmospheric pads, Miniverse has you covered. In fact, the resulting tones are so mighty that we could not resist adding one particular enhancement. If one classic synth voice isn’t enough, we’ve made it easy to dial in two, four, eight, or sixteen polyphonic voices guaranteed to bring the house down. Need outstanding sounds even faster? Miniverse includes a library of over 250 presets created by pro professional sound designers. Brass, keys, percussion, sound effects, and even MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE) presets and, of course, the signature earthshaking basses and leads the Mini is renowned for are just a click away.

New: Preset MIDI Mapping

Speaking of presets, by popular demand, we’ve added a new feature to Miniverse : the ability to save custom MIDI controller mappings to individual presets or globally (or both!).

Features:

  • Faithful virtual analog emulation of the legendary Model D
  • All features of the original in a realistic interface exactly as the original
  • Three oscillators with triangle, sawtooth-triangular, ramp sawtooth, square, wide rectangular, and narrow rectangular waveforms

Elka-X

A Renaissance Synthesizer

Cherry Audio Elka-X Synthesizer is based upon the legendary Synthex , a rare Italian analog synthesizer designed by Mario Maggi and manufactured by ELKA in the early eighties. Elka-X replicates the extraordinary character of the original synth without compromising sound or functionality, thoughtfully expanding its feature set and delivering the authentic Synthex experience at a price anyone can afford.

The Synthex included a combination of uncommon and forward – looking features that made it stand out from other contemporary synthesizers, including highly stable digitally – controlled analog oscillators and a flexible four – pole multimode filter. Unlike most other popular synths that utilized CEM3320 filter chips in a lowpass – only configuration, the Synthex filter featured a 24 dB/oct lowpass mode, 6 and 12 dB/oct bandpass modes, and a 12 dB/oct highpass mode. Along with a powerful onboard analog chorus effect, this gave the Synthex a distinct and powerful tonality. It was multitimbral, with the ability to play two different patches simultaneously, in either split or layer mode. It even included an innovative four – track monophonic step – sequencer with real – time recording and transposition.

By the mid – 80s, ELKA made the last Synthex for Stevie Wonder, who used it for the distinctive bass tone on his single “Skeletons” from the 1987 album Characters. Other notable users of the Synthex were Geoff Downes of the supergroup Asia, Keith Emerson, Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran, Peter Howell of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, and Jean – Michel Jarre, who used it extensively on Rendezvous and for his famed “laser harp” sound.

X-pertly Extended and Enhanced!

Each aspect of Elka-X has been precisely modeled upon Cherry Audio’s pristine vintage Synthex. Every effort was taken to emulate the prized tone of the original’s DCOs, dynamic filter, and stunning chorus. We’ve preserved the innovative sound – sculpting and performance features such as layering and keyboard split, and hugely improved the original’s clunky step sequencer.

Once again, Cherry Audio has kept the soul of a classic alive while enhancing its feature set for modern studio environments. We’ve increased the polyphony, included mono and unison modes, and added velocity response that was absent from the original design. We’ve expanded the functionality of the filter and the LFOs, greatly extending the modulation options. We not only simplified the operation of the four – track step sequencer but added a complete arpeggiator with independent assignments for both layers.

Unique panel controls make it painless to exchange settings between layers, sequencer tracks, and even different presets. In addition to the chorus effect found in the original, Elka-X adds studio – quality echo and reverb stereo effects, with independent settings for both layers. With additional touches such as chord memory, over 500 pro patches, and flexible MIDI mapping, Cherry Audio’s Elka-X brings the authentic and expanded Synthex experience roaring into the 21st century.

Elka-X Features:

  • Two part multitimbral operation: two different patches simultaneously playable, in either a keyboard split or stacked layer mode, with user – specified split point and discrete controls for layer volume and panning
  • 16 polyphonic voices which can be layered or split across the keyboard
  • Panel Control for selecting layers, with a utility function for exchanging settings between the Lower and Upper sound layers, or even between presets
