WraithDesigned for versatile dark ambient and cinematic sound design, Wraith is a synthesiser for pads, drones and synthetic textures. It’s comprised of 230 audio samples grouped into 3 categories: Drones, Tonal and Textures and over 80 playable presets. It’s housed in our powerful sampler engine Mirage, which is structured around 3 audio layers that can be controlled separately, and an effects rack with distortion, chorus, reverbs and more. Wraith is an ideal sound design tool for creating atmospheres, backgrounds and tension. KEY FEATURES
230 Samples and 80 presets Wraith contains a huge collection of sounds, each organised into one of three categories. The Drones and Tonal sets that comprise the largest bulk of this expansion allow for quick prototyping of complex scenes and soundscapes featuring gritty low-end, rich drones full of depth, and granular harmonic content contrasted with smooth and silky Ambient tones perfect for adding a bit of sweetness and emotion to the cold and hopeless vibe of the bleak drones. The Textures folder acts in turn as a glue between the two main categories, making it possible to either make even more complex sounds through an extra layer of sound or substitute either of the two main layers for further variety and flexibility. Overall, this is a great collection of sounds to add to your palette if you’re on the lookout for new and fresh modern cinematic tools capable of taking your music to obscure and uncharted places, which, within the Mirage engine conforms a great playground for extremely creative sound design. Audio crafted by sound designer and composer Carlos Butler Carlos Butler, who is also known for his sound design project, Temporal Geometry, created the samples of Wraith. For Wraith he has drawn from years of experience as a composer of ambient and cinematic music which he releases under the name Rildrim. His skill for tonality and for making samples that can be used in a practical, musical way shine through in this library. Specifications
What is Mirage? Mirage is our sample-based synthesis engine. It is a VST/AU synthesiser plugin that features a powerful set of controls for processing our custom sample libraries, such as Phoenix or Wraith (currently libraries can only be made with our internal tools). Mirage is designed for rapid, flexible sound design and for ease-of-use. Designed for sound layering As sound designers and foley artists know well, layering is an excellent way of designing new sounds using existing samples. Mirage allows for up to three different sounds to be controlled separately and layered together. The layers in Mirage have the following controls unique to them: pitch, volume and pan, filter, volume envelope, LFO, EQ, sample loop settings and MIDI settings. These controls facilitate an incredible amount of manipulation over the original sound source. A rack of built-in Effects Another technique that sound designers use to shape the character of sounds is by applying effects. Mirage features a rack of such effects for this purpose. Built-in effects such as distortion, bit-crush, chorus and stereo widener can be used to enhance the sound with extra harmonics or extra simulated width. The compressor can be used to control dynamics or add punch, and the filter can be used to isolate just the frequencies you need. Mirage also has reverb and delay effects for real space simulation. These are great for sound design too. One of the reverb effects is a convolution reverb, this is typically used to add a real-sounding reverberation effect to the signal by using samples of real spaces (impulse responses). However, by substituting the sample of a real space with an abstract sample, interesting effects can be produced. Mirage features both realistic impulse responses and abstract ones for creative sound design. Designed to be Played For compelling and dynamic performances, you often want to control the parameters of the sound as you play. We naturally do this in real life. For example, when singing a melody, we make some parts louder and vary the tremolo intensity. Mirage helps with enabling this type of modulation too. The volume at both the layer level and the master level can be controlled with MIDI velocity. Sustain pedal (MIDI CC 64) is also fully supported, enabling you to hold notes using a foot pedal. On top of that, any parameter in Mirage can be controlled by knobs or sliders on your physical MIDI controller. This is simply a matter of right-clicking the parameter, selecting ‘MIDI learn’ and then moving your controller. And of course, Mirage can also be automated by your DAW. Minimum friction from your mind to your DAW Mirage is designed to not get in your way. It is fast to load up and is CPU efficient. It has a vector-based GUI that can be resized so that it will work on any size screen. The controls are laid out in an intuitive way, and a full description of what each control does can be viewed by hovering the mouse over it for a moment. Mirage also comes with a PDF user manual with all of the nitty-gritty details covered.

Music Box SuiteRealistic music boxes and sound design VST/AU Two multi-sampled music boxes At the core of Music Box Suite are 2 multi-sampled music boxes, both of which feature 4 round-robin. The first is the Victorian music box. This instrument has a warm antique tone. The second is the Tiny music box. This has a bright, sweet sound. By tastefully layering these 2 instruments, new compelling sounds can be made. Included in Music Box Suite are a few of the winding-up sounds and the ‘whur’ of the music box device. These give you the option to create a fully realistic music box piece. Organic sound design This product features a collection of complimentary samples that are designed to work with the real music box samples. This expands Music Box Suite’s potential from more than just realistic music box emulation. The 40 included presets demonstrate this; there are keys, pads and ambient textures. These complimentary sounds are primarily morphed versions of real music box samples, however, there are also a few additional instruments such as a guitar pluck, a glockenspiel and synth strings. Using Mirage’s simple interface, instruments can be layered, reversed, looped, tuned and distorted. This pairing of Music Box Suite’s samples inside Mirage’s engine results in a unique tool that is ideal for adding a charming melodic aspect to your track, whether it be an electronic piece or a cinematic one. PhoenixA Cinematic Synth based on Smooth Synth Strings and Choirs A toolkit of cinematic sounds The core sounds of this library are six synthetic strings and choirs instruments. These sounds are useful even before processing. Ethereal choirs and lush string pads can be made instantly. However, the three-layer structure of Mirage allows you to take these sounds even further. Complimentary sounds can be layered together and modulated with LFOs and filters, and reverbs can be applied. Using these features, it is easy to create rich textures and soundscapes with movement. But this is by no means the extent of Phoenix’s capabilities. Keys and bass sounds can also be produced. In the included presets you will find many examples of these types of sounds such as low rumbles, plucky staccatos and clean subs. Phoenix also works excellently when layered with real instruments. The smoothness of the sounds of this product gell superbly with them, enhancing their richness and width. Uses of Phoenix You might make use of Phoenix in a film/TV/video game score. A preset such as Shimmering Cavern could be used to create a sense of wonder and beauty. This preset uses three sound layers spread across three octaves. LFOs subtly modulate the volumes of these layers, and a touch of bit-crush distortion is used, resulting in a sound that shimmers in the high frequencies. Similarly to this, there are many other presets included in this product that have an emotional character. This track could be added to by using the Bass Pluck preset with a low pass filter applied to it. This would work excellently as a driving ‘underscore’ element. Another possible use for Phoenix might be in an ambient track. A preset like Smoothest Pad might be used to play wide-spanning chords, gently transitioning into each other in the background. A Keys preset like Melody Drops could be used on top of this for a distant emotive sounding melody. A Bass preset such as Sub Bass Repeater could be used to fill out the low end, and give drive to the track with its pulsing pattern. A third possibility might be in a track outside of the ambient or cinematic genres. Phoenix can be used to add character to your electronic/rock/hip hop track. It can be used as something to bring depth to the background or to layer up with your real performances. The various strings presets of Phoenix, in particular, might be useful in these situations. These synthetic strings have a smooth organic sound to them, similar to their real counterparts, but with a softer character. Phoenix might also be useful in writing a breakdown in a track – add atmosphere and a sense of open space – before bringing back the drive of your track. Specifications

Lost ReveriesAmbient-drone & soundscape synthesiser (VST/AU) Designed unapologetically for one purpose, Lost Reveries provides you with customisable, playable, ambient-drone synthesis created by an expert of the genre, Hilyard. It’s a sample-based VST/AU synthesiser plugin containing 32 ambient ‘oscillators’ that can be combined in up to 3 layers: with controls such as ADSR envelopes, filters, LFOs and more. Furthermore, it features a rack of effects including a rich reverb algorithm, delay and a phaser. Lost Reveries also comes with 80 production-ready presets that can be selected from an in-built preset browser. Lost Reveries lives inside FrozenPlain’s sampler engine, called Mirage – which is included for free in the no-hassle installer. Key features
Designed by renowned ambient producer, Hilyard For over 8 years, Hilyard has been transporting listeners to serene and beautiful worlds with his impactful ambient music. He combines a masterful use of drone-sound-design with subtle compositional elements to create emotion, depth, nostalgia and uplifting melancholy. He has an outstanding 25 releases (albums, singles and EPs) on Spotify. For Lost Reveries, Hilyard has drawn from his own sonic palette to create a set of sample-based instruments that allow you to create your own emotive ambient tones. Hilyard’s work has been part of the Cryo Chamber record label who focus on dark ambient and drone music. The effect of this music has been surprisingly wide reaching as is evident of Cryo Chamber’s 340K YouTube subscribers. You might find inspiration on how to utilise Lost Reveries by listening to the work of Cryo Chamber’s artists. Great for ambient music, soundtracks, drone and more You might find Lost Reveries useful for creating music in some of these genres: ambient, drone, cinematic, meditation, music-for-sleep or soundtracks. But that isn’t its limit: we’ve also found that the smooth, semi-organic tones of Lost Reveries layer incredibly well with both real orchestration or as a backdrop for synthesisers. 32 ambient ‘oscillators’ With a typical subtractive synthesiser you might have oscillators like sawtooth, sine or square; in Lost Reveries the ‘oscillators’ are instead sample-based ambient tones. These ambient tones can be shaped using ADSR envelopes, filters and EQ, and layered with other ambient tones. Modulation can also be added using LFOs. Finally, the sound can be coloured using a rack of effects which includes reverb, distortion, chorus and phaser. The samples are made by Hilyard, who used various tone-generation processes; including both real recordings and synthesisied elements. The end-goal was to create the core elements that you can use to design your own multi-layered ambient tones. Smooth, pure, rich tones The ambient-tone ‘oscillators’ are categorised into 4 sections: low, mid, air and vocal. The names of these categories suggest how you might use the tone; allowing you to more easily build multi-layered tracks. The vocal category contains ambient tones that resonate similarly to how the human voice makes various vowels sounds. The timbral character of these tone are similar to what you will hear in Hilyard’s music. They are pure, smooth and rich: exploring both earthy, dark-forest ambiences and deep space-drifts. You’ll find a spectrum of light/dark, hopeful/hopeless and terrestrial/extraterrestrial. 80 production-ready presets Lost Reveries comes with 80 presets made by Hilyard, and can be easily modified to suit your needs. They’re split into 4 categories: Pads, Plucked Rhythmic Movements and Textures. There’s a simple but effective set of controls for navigating these presets: next/previous buttons, arrow keys support, search, and functions for loading a random preset. Requirements
Lost Reveries is installed using the Mirage Installer. This application will install the Mirage VST/AU plugin (Lost Reveries’ host), and all the other necessary files. It will prompt you for a ‘download ticket’ – this is a code that you will be given after purchase. There is no other activation or licence key process. You may install the program on as many computers that you personally own! |
