Gibson

Gibson counts the P 498 pickups to the modern classics, which is also a good sound description for these parts known from many current Gibson guitars. The starting point was the legendary PAF (now available as Classic 57); thanks to the alnico magnets, the P498 also provides a warm singing sound, which due to its higher output and an emphasis on the treble and midrange, is very assertive.

The 498T is the hotter version of a vintage pickup with a higher internal resistance and higher power output. The 498T has an average sound character when compared with the 490T, and is therefore preferably used for the bridge position; especially when the player wants to generate warm and singing lead sounds. The 498T has a vintage Alnico magnet and is used by Gibson for Les Paul Studios, Les Paul Standards and Les Paul Custom guitars in the bridge position.

The first humbucker was the PAF by Seth Lover (the PAF was named by the "patent applied for" pickerl on the underside), and it was found not only on the legendary Gibson guitars such as the Les Paul, SG , ES series, but also on the exotics like the Flying V or Explorer. For many guitarists it is still the best; Not a screamer, it's much too classy for that, ​​but it can sing like no other pickup.

Gibson already has the official PAF heir with the Classic 57. But since the first humbuckers were not yet machine-wrapped with today's precision, the legendary early PAFs have a very wide range of tolerances, with different winding ratios and outputs.

The Burstbucker #3 has significantly more output than its #1 and #2 counterparts. It retains the characteristic vintage PAF sound. A very good lead pickup that can be combined with a # 1 or # 2 at the neck
