On the way to an optimal cymbal sound, a special Paiste sound alloy from patented bronze was developed for the signature series. The result are instruments that have been gaining recognition since their introduction in 1989, and have proven themselves both in the studio and life. The sound has a high expressive power and can be described as filigree, transparent, musical, emotional and colourful.

The Heavy China of the Signature line offers an explosive, full, bright and "trashy" sound, but with a longer sustain than the Thin China. This makes it better suited for heavier players and situations that require more volume.

In response to extreme developments such as punk and heavy metal in the late 1970s Paiste developed the RUDE series. These cymbals are not rotated, but are uniform in their thickness and offer a pronounced average frequency range at high volume. Their daring, lively character makes them the obvious choice for bands of our time.
