Deemed ‘unofficial’ up until the mid-80’s, Soviet Post-Punk and New Wave bands had to self-distribute their records via illicit ‘magnitizdat’ tapes and were only allowed to play live shows in a handful of strictly monitored venues.

Barred from state-run studios, underground musicians had to record their works in small communal apartments, with low budget instruments and makeshift DIY gear, thus setting themselves apart from the more polished sounds coming from the West.

This collection comes fully equipped with samples scored from rare Soviet synths, worn out guitars, old handheld radios, improvised effects processors and battered up drum-machines.

All tracked on cassette and reel-to-reel tapes.

They say that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Well the ShamanStems team is now unraveling a treasure trove of trash. The crew have scoured through abandoned fields, industrial areas, slums, construction sites and forests (of all places) to find and record junk ranging from broken TVs and PCs, to car parts, construction materials, glasswork or just every-day items not thrown away in specially designated places by a ‘select-many’ careless individuals.

After months of successfully dodging stray dogs, wild boars, hornets and other ghastly creatures and staying clear of shards, shrapnel ,stings and cuts , they have narrowed down the bulk of the recordings to 420 + single hits structured into ambience, metal, glass and ceramics, rock and construction, wood and paper, plastic and mixed folders. The sounds range from short to complex, a number of them additionally possessing rhythmical nuances.
The team is now employing an ongoing forest cleanup in their neighboring areas and strongly discourages littering.

Inside you will discover 30 Ableton Live Instrument Racks, with macros for sample start time, attack, release, portamento time, filter controls and loop on/off. Three Ableton Effect Racks are also available to further shape the pads, including a Multistomp, ideal for adding warmth and character, a Mangler, which is perfect for degrading and lofi-ing the sounds and a Movement rack, designed liven up the pads via phasing, autofiltering and autopanning.

Said racks have been created using the 106 Wav single notes recorded in the key of C, across many octaves, with very little external processing, to capture the genuine sound and feel of the machines they were recorded form. 129 Wav Chords are provided in various keys, with their respective MIDI notes attached. 11 Demo Projects showcase the use of the above racks and all WAV and MIDI content has been rendered inside the Demo Loops folders as construction kits for easy and fast access. Drop all of these sounds into your sampler or wavetable synth of choice, layer, mangle and get creative.

An extremely rare and underrated synth, the 1987 built Casio HT-6000 has the specs of legendary analog synths: 8 voice polyphony, 4 oscillators, 64 different waveforms, resonant analogue filter, analogue chorus , ring modulation, white noise, multitimbrality and the list could go on.

Unfortunately, being poorly marketed as just another Casio humdrum home-keyboard has made it slip through the cracks.

Its sonic palette is highly versatile, from accurately replicating pianos, harps, vibraphones, rhodes or tonewheel organs to creating very particular timbres, the HT-6000 is brimming with warmth and character, and has been a studio favorite since day one.

What’s inside?

There are 20 folders, each pertaining to a unique timbre, containing up to 50 chord variations. We’ve expanded the minor/major dichotomy present in our previous Analog Chords releases to include 9th,11th,13th variations, dominant and diminished chords , jazz voicings, impressionists-inspired stacked forths, fifths and sixths, plus many out-of-the box key combinations.

The oneshots are also neatly organized into 20 Ableton racks, for quick and easy access to mapped macros for volume ADSR, Filter and Glue. These racks can be very handy and can be expanded to your liking, by creative use of transposition, warping, stretching and looping.

You will also discover a total of 39 Ableton projects, and their respective WAV renderings, created only with the above mentioned oneshots, employing various sample manipulation techniques to created moods varying from smooth deep house, to melancholic chillout, all the way up to jacking techno or chicago footwork.
