Cold Fission is created in the spirit of Electronic Body Music (EBM) and Industrial Techno with a futurist yet retro approach by sound designer and composer Colin C. (CBS, NBC/Universal, FOX Entertainment, Showtime, etc.).

Utilizing only classic bits of kit (namely Roland and Korg units) to capture the essence of EBM’s origins, Cold Fission presents a unique ‘upscaling’ of these sources through Colin’s unique approach to modern distortion, bit crushing and compression combined with unique sequencing and patterns to offer something beyond simply recreating the past. Produced for Soundtrack Loops by Colin Cameron (Slighter).

The sound is thick, smooth and modern with that truly gorgeous Moog character. Every patch has 78 notes sampled from keys G-1 to C6 with one sample per key, that’s over 7 octaves! The addition of the scream filter and sine-shaper to Serum allows Halcyon Vol.3 to be broader in scope than previous volumes.

Distortion, when used carefully, can lead to rich and expressive sounds. The sine-shaper in particular, when combined with pre-filtering, yields an abundance of character. The 101 sounds here have been designed to stand their ground in a busy mix, or provide a rich foundation in more minimal compositions.

Rather than focus on a genre, the sounds in this bank vary more by sound design technique.

Wavetable synthesis provides moody, swirly pads, pitch drift and saturation provide the flavor of vintage synths, and careful filter/distortion combinations allow for the up-front and pushy modern sounds. The precision offered by Serum’s engine ensures a clear, defined sound. Changes can be introduced to the presets, from subtle to extreme with the assigned Macro controls.

Halcyon Vol.3 contains 101 sounds, with simplified preset categories.

Fundamental is a collection of 95 sub bass, bass and lead sounds.

It is a hybrid collection blending ultra deep electronica subs, fat bass sounds, dirty leads with expressive synth sounds inspired by artists such as Joe Zawinul, Jan Hammer, Herbie Hancock, colored just enough to give it a certain amount of a Leap Into The Void.

You’ll find fundamental frequency basses, analog basses, wobble basses, kick basses, mellow sub basses, aggressive basses, noisy basses, expressive leads sounds, classic poly leads, mono leads and more.
It’s an organic collection of sounds with focus on enabling direct expressiveness and character via velocity controlled envelope attack, velocity controlled filter cutoff etc. aswell as mod wheel assignments for further expression and coloring.
