Chorddetector

Chorddetector is an MP3/WAV-player with an integrated chord detection engine. As simple as that.

Some people have perfect pitch. For them, transcribing the chords of a song is just as easy as writing down the lyrics. For the rest of us, life is way more difficult. Fortunately, now you can get this cool piece of software to help you with the task.

Of course, what is going on under the hood is mighty complicated but all you need to do is load the song whose chords you are interested in, press play, and off you go.

Chords will be displayed in realtime, so you can play along live with your instrument.

All DDMF plugins come both in 32 and 64 bit format, which means they will run without issues in the ever increasing number of 64 bit digital audio workstations. To make a long story short, a 64 bit program can address vastly more memory space than a 32 bit program (where the limit is 4 Gigabyte), so whenever you can, you should use a 64 bit host.

What are the system requirements?

There are no “hard” requirements in terms of processing power or memory.

All reasonably recent PCs or (Intel) Macs should have plenty of power to handle the highly optimized DDMF effects with ease.

PowerPC Macs are not supported anymore

Concerning operating systems, Windows XP or higher is required. On the Mac side, DDMF is slowly shifting from 10.5 to 10.6 as a minimum requirement.

For the plugins you need a host (a DAW or a digital audio workstation). Specifically, a VST host on Windows, a VST or AU host on Mac or ProTools (8 or higher) on Windows or Mac.

LinComp

LinComp is a linear phase multiband compressor, a tool that belongs in every mastering chain.

Multiband compression allows you to take care of the levels and response times of four frequency bands independently, and the linear phase crossover guarantee that all this happens with no damage done to the audio whatsoever.

Independent threshold, attack, release, ratio and gain controls as well as master faders for simultaneous control let you sculpt the dynamics of your tracks in any way imaginable.

Select the compression type by switching between hard and soft knee, use LinComp as a brickwall limiter with the built-in clipping function, and do A/B tests to find out the optimal setting.

Features

  • 4 frequency bands
  • Double-precision linear phase band splitters
  • Freely variable transition frequencies
  • Individual adjustment of threshold, gain, ratio, attack and release per band
  • Solo and bypass options for each band
  • Built-in brickwall clipper
  • Switch between hard and soft knee
  • A/B states for easy comparison
  • 32/64 bit VST/RTAS/AAX for Windows 10

Metaplugin

Metaplugin is a plugin that loads other plugins.

As simple as that. Build your own effect networks with this plugin wrapper using any VST/VST3 (and AU, if you’re on Mac) effect you already have on your harddisk. To get you started, a Mid-Side matrix, a fourband crossover filter and a routing plugin are included in the package. This means instant cross-track routing, mid-side, multiband compression/distortion/reverb/… you name it. Of course that’s only the beginning…

Let your imagination run free, nothing is impossible, from creating your own layered synth sounds to building whole sound generators from scratch using simple modules.

Another favourite use case for Metaplugin is to load VST plugins in Pro Tools (or to load AudioUnits in Pro Tools if you’re on a Mac). Hence, you can use it as a VST to AAX wrapper or an AU to AAX wrapper. While we’re at it: you can also use Metaplugin to load VST plugins in Logic/LogicX (VST to AU wrapper), or AU plugins in Cubase (AU to VST wrapper).

Features:

  • Effect version supports up to eight individual channels for, e.g. surround or other multichannel purposes.
  • Instrument version featuring 16 stereo output buses for all conceivable routing purposes using multichannel instruments
  • Double precision audio processing when supported by DAW and plugin format (not for Audio Units)
  • Additional stereo sidechain input
  • Convenient plugin organizer: scan your plugins once, then just drag and drop them onto the graph area
  • Internal bridge from 32 to 64 bit, with seamless plugin window integration: load 32 bit plugins in ProTools or LogicPro X without the need for a 3rd party bridging solution
  • NEW since v3.4: internal bridge from 64 bit to 32 bit too!
  • Support for native Apple Audio Unit plugins
  • Dry/wet ratio can be adjusted for each loaded plugin.
  • Individual bypass for each loaded plugin
  • Full plugin delay compensation included.
  • Automate up to 100 parameters by mapping them on any parameter of a loaded plugin
  • Negligible additional CPU overhead.
  • Synths can also be loaded and played with any MIDI control, which means you can create custom synthesizers with existing building blocks.
  • Oversampling: to avoid antialiasing, oversampling is a necessity. Metaplugin offers up to 16x oversampling option of the whole signal chain in realtime mode, and up to 64x oversampling in offline mode (during rendering).
  • Included: mid-side matrix, multiband splitter and cross track send/receive helper plugins.
  • Define your own colour palette for the plugin: check!
  • Freely resizable plugin window for maximum convenience: check!
  • Can be used as a VST (2 or 3) to AU wrapper, a VST (2 or 3) to AAX wrapper or an AU to AAX wrapper.
  • Windows: 32/64 bit VST/VST3 and AAX
  • Mac: 32/64 bit VST/VST3/AU/AAX, 10.7 or higher needed

GrandEQ

What is it?

GrandEQ is nothing else but the culmination of what we here at DDMF have learned in the years since the first software EQ was released back in 2006. It represents the state of the art of equalizer algorithms.

The goal in digital equalizer design is always to reduce the amount of digital artefacts which are introduced due to the necessarily finite sampling frequency. In its minimum phase setting, GrandEQ manages to do just that to an extent larger than most other EQs, and notably both in the amplitude and in the phase domain, while introducing only a very small amount of latency.

The result is a very open and clear sound with, at the same time, excellent CPU efficiency. Its linear phase setting stays completely in the time domain, using an elaborate time-reversal algorithm and 2-fold oversampling to ensure excellent amplitude and (flat) phase response with the lowest possible amount of digital distortion.

Matched magnitude and phase response: comparison

To further clarify what is meant by accurate magnitude and phase response, let’s look at a Bell filter (+9 dB at 10 kHz). Looking at the magnitude response of GrandEQ (shown in red in the following image), note that it follows the true analog response (yellow) so close that it is barely visible below 20 kHz. Both a standard digital EQ (blue) and a decrampled digital EQ (green) show clear differences towards the higher frequency range.

This excellent behavior also carries over to the phase domain: while all software EQs ultimately show a phase response of 0 at half the sampling (Nyquist) frequency, GrandEQ manages to follow the analog curve all the way until > 20 kHz, while the two other EQs clearly show a different response.

Features

  • Minimum Phase algorithm: accurate magnitude and phase matching to analog targets
  • Linear Phase algorithm: forward-backward approach + oversampling
  • 7 independent bands, with 7 different band types: Bell, Low Shelf, High Shelf, Low Cut, High Cut, Bandpass and Notch
  • two internal states (A/B) for quick switching between alternative settings
  • Left-Right or Mid-Side operation
  • Two-channel EQ which can be linked/unlinked

Mac

  • Intel Core 2 Duo or higher, 4GB RAM minimum
  • OSX 10.7 or higher is required. Intel and Apple Silicon are both supported.

PC

  • Intel Core 2 Duo / AMD Athlon 64 X2 or higher, 4GB RAM minimum
  • Windows 7 SP1 or later

Available in 32 and 64 bit format, as a VST, VST3, AU and AAX plugin.

MagicVerb

MagicVerb is the latest result of the collaboration between MagicDeathEye aka Ian Sefchick and DDMF.

This journey was a little more creative as we weren’t modeling a piece of hardware. We were modeling spaces and experimenting with EQ and texture. Ian spent a decade working at a studio known for its chambers and that dark beautiful feeling of space was always with him when creating these models.

We had a lot of his engineer and producer buddies check em’ out and used their feedback to tighten everything up.

We also put a really cool plate and model of a classic digital reverb in there as well.

There’s nothing new under the sun and this has all been done before, so the objective was to make a reverb plugin as useful as the Magic Death Eye compressor plugins. A real utility reverb that works on everything and is super easy to operate.

A reverb with depth, texture, and lots of love. A MagicVerb!

  • Available in 32 and 64 bit format, as a VST, VST3, AU and AAX plugin.
  • Windows users will need version 10 – 64 bit
  • Mac OSX 10.7 or higher is required. Intel and Apple Silicon are both supported
