Oberheim OB-E v2

THE OB-E – AN OBERHEIM OCTAPHONIC SONIC ADVENTURE

The Oberheim OB-E is our take on the legendary Oberheim® 8-Voice and the first software instrument ever to receive Tom Oberheim’s personal endorsement. More than just an emulation, the OB-E offers a unique musical experience. Sounding HUGE, it takes the iconic Synthesizer Expander Module (SEM®) based 8-Voice (a.k.a the EVS) into new sonic territory via a raft of enhancements and additions.

The concept of the 8-Voice is actually very simple; based around a single SEM containing two VCOs with Pulse and Sawtooth waveforms, two ADS Envelope Generators, one LFO, and a magical Multi-Mode Filter. In isolation each SEM is monophonic, but in the 8-Voice, because there are eight SEMs triggered by a polyphonic keyboard, you have a superb eight note polyphonic synthesizer.

This unique Octaphonic architecture offers fresh and exciting creative possibilities to music producers, composers and sound designers for the first time in the digital realm.

AN AUGMENTED YET AUTHENTIC INSTRUMENT

We’ve painstakingly emulated every section of the synth to ensure sonic authenticity while adding the convenience of software control over those eight SEMs. Mono, Mono Legato, Poly, Unison and Split keyboard modes are all available. Add to this the new VCO3, doubling as an audio rate LFO for each SEM, and a stack of additional performance controls via velocity, polyphonic after-touch and MPE control then you’ll begin to understand the depth of musical possibilities OB-E provides.

A COLLABORATION WITH OBERHEIM AND NEW ‘VINTAGE’ CONTROL

As we neared the release of OB-E®, we were contacted by Tom Oberheim and Marcus Ryle (an Oberheim engineer in the 1980s) who were impressed enough to suggest a collaboration offering support to refine OB-E and to release the v2 update carrying their full endorsement. Despite receiving several Best Soft Synth 2021 awards, working under the guidance of Tom and Marcus, we further enhanced the already incredible sounding OB-E. Refining the Detune feature and adding a new Vintage control, dials in more realistic musical inaccuracies in line with the original instrument for a truly authentic 8-Voice experience.

NEW IN OB-E v2 (Now macOS & Windows)

The enhanced OB-E v2 is a pin sharp emulation of the Oberheim® 8-Voice thanks to the new Vintage control and a highly refined Detune parameter. In addition, it’s now available for both macOS and Windows. OB-E v2 features a new reverb, 100+ new Patches (bringing the total to over 700), a new Zoom function for the sequencer along with a crazy new Drum Mode enabling each SEM to be triggered by a dedicated key. We’ve also added 10 drum kit Presets to get you started. If you are looking for a new analog drum machine, give it a go, it might surprise you.

CREATIVE SEQUENCER, STEREO DELAY & REVERB

And that’s not all! With the original MS-1 sequencer as a starting reference point, we’ve integrated an extremely comprehensive and creative 8-step Sequencer providing a flexibility and fun-factor unavailable via the original hardware. In keyboard Split mode with the Sequencer routed to SEM 8, the OB-E provides the ability to create a complete three part soundscape within a single Patch. An all-new routable Stereo Delay and lush Reverb provides sonically complimentary effects.

MORE THAN EIGHT VOICES PUT TOGETHER

The 8-Voice is not simply eight identical SEMs put together. The interaction of those 8 independent, and slightly different Synthesizer Expander Modules, plays a major role in making the 8-Voice’s sound so incredibly beautiful. The injection of these authentic inaccuracies into each of the eight SEMs in OB-E takes it to another level, one that blurs the lines between the hardware, and makes OB-E the most authentic emulation of the Oberheim SEM sound and 8-Voice instrument.

Finally, we’ve complemented our instrument with 700+ factory Patches designed by Dave Spiers and a roster of brilliant sound designers. Even better, each Patch has been tagged, categorised and is quickly accessible from the OB-E’s librarian (arrow navigation friendly).

impOSCar 2

Serious Software Synth

The GForce impOSCar2 virtual analog synthesizer is modeled on the OSCar – the mythical early ’80s synth many savvy synthesists consider to be England’s answer to the Minimoog. If you crave fat, lush (and frequently outrageous) subtractive synthesis sounds, you’ll find plenty to love here.

impOSCar2 also includes additive synthesis, plus a host of tweakables to keep you stoked. You get dual oscillators and a serious assortment of multimode filters, envelopes, ring modulator, an arpeggiator, Chord Memory, polyphonic and channel aftertouch, mono and poly Unison modes, and a ginormous Patch Library. The sounds? Brilliant, mate. You’re going to love GForce’s impOSCar2.

GForce impOSCar2 at a Glance:

  • Oozes character, playability, expression, and sound sculpting opportunities
  • Multiple Mono and Poly Unison Modes
  • Go nuts with Effects

Oozes character, playability, expression, and sound sculpting opportunities

Successor to our multi-award winning impOSCar software synthesizer, impOSCar2 gives you more: more modulation choices, more sound sculpting opportunities, and more effects. The result is not merely a synth modeled on an ’80s holy grail hardware synth, but a new breed of sound monster with massive expressiveness and tweakability. Since the original impOSCar was released, GForce has paid rapt attention to the wish lists generated by its fiercely loyal users, and incorporated the most meritorious suggestions into impOSCar2.

Multiple Mono and Poly Unison Modes

Utilizing impOSCar2’s various Mono and Poly Unison modes lets you create anything from screaming leads to colossal 8-voice Poly Unison stacks with 16 note polyphony. Further enhancing your sonic horizons, the Unison Detune dial ramps unison voice tuning from understated to completely insane, for the fattest sounds ever to emerge from a virtual synth. GForce’s inclusion of multiple Unison modes make impOSCar2 absurdly versatile.

Go nuts with Effects

Process drums, vocals, or any other audio source through impOSCar2’s filters, envelopes, ring modulator, et al, and you’ll unleash serious sonic potential – and possibly sonic armageddon, if you’re not careful. For certain hosts (including Logic) there’s also a side-chained MIDI-controlled Effect available, letting you route audio through the arpeggiator. Now, that’s just sick (and we love it). If you’re into synthesis, the GForce impOSCar2 belongs in your studio.

GForce impOSCar2 Features:

  • Oozes character, playability, expression, and sound sculpting opportunities
  • Successor to the multi-award winning impOSCar
  • Two Oscillators (each with independent pulse width control) and 13 Waveforms
  • Programmable Velocity Responses and Aftertouch

Oberheim SEM

The Oberheim SEM – A simple monophonic synth with a huge sound

When Tom Oberheim created the first Oberheim® Synthesizer Expander Module (model SEM-1) in 1974, he had one goal – to make a synth that sounded great, whilst being extremely simple to use. In the decades since the release of this iconic synth, it’s been used by countless legendary musicians, making the SEM one of the most revered synthesizers of all time.

As well as painstakingly recreating the huge, unmistakable sound of the SEM, the GForce Oberheim SEM also recreates the ethos of the original – a simple monophonic synth that allows you to shape incredible sounds in an instant. And with Tom Oberheim’s seal of approval, you can be confident in its authenticity. Add to this more than 400+ categorised presets, and inspiration is just moments away.

Made in collaboration with Oberheim

We first worked with Tom Oberheim and Marcus Ryle (an Oberheim engineer during the 80s) when creating the GForce Oberheim OB-E® v2. During this time, Tom and Marcus revealed that they felt there were no software emulations of the SEM that accurately recreated the sound and the ethos of the original monophonic SEM. We decided to change that, and under the close guidance of Tom and Marcus, we developed the GForce Oberheim SEM to ensure an experience that is truly authentic to the original instrument.

The Authentic SEM Sound

Centered around two VCOs with Pulse and Sawtooth waveforms, two ADS Envelope Generators, one LFO, and a magical, legendary Multi-Mode Filter, the SEM sound is more than the sum of its parts. In the GForce Oberheim SEM, every section of the synth has been painstakingly emulated to ensure sonic authenticity. We’ve even modelled the authentic analog inaccuracies of the original SEM, blurring the lines between analog character and digital precision. All this makes the GForce Oberheim SEM the most authentic emulation of the SEM sound available.

Simple never sounded so good

The beauty of the SEM truly lies in its simplicity. With a refined design and feature set, you can easily create warm basses, soaring leads and sweeping arps in an instant. This allows you to spend less time shaping your sounds, and more time making music.

Enhanced where it matters

While staying true to the original SEM, we also added a number of enhancements to make the GForce Oberheim SEM even more useful for modern music production. Alongside a new VCO3, which doubles as an audio rate LFO for additional modulation and FM possibilities, the SEM now has tempo-syncable LFOs and a host of performance controls via velocity and aftertouch. We’ve also integrated a fun, fast arpeggiator & sequencer, and added a stereo delay and a beautifully lush reverb to sonically compliment your sounds.

Finally, we’ve included 400+ factory presets designed by Dave Spiers, Graeme Rawson and Tom Wolfe, each created to demonstrate the incredible sonic character of the SEM. Every preset has been tagged, categorised and is quickly accessible from the preset browser. The SEM even integrates with the GForce Oberheim OB-E, allowing you to load your SEM presets in either device. This enables you to quickly sketch out your sounds in the SEM, and then make them polyphonic in an instant.

Features

  • Most authentic monophonic SEM experience and sound – small package, big sound!
  • The most playable SEM, full of character, and augmented with a 3rd VCO
  • 400+ factory Patches designed to fit in a mix, all tagged and categorised
  • Librarian for easy access to the presets (Arrow Keys Navigation)

M-Tron MkII

The GForce M-Tron MkII is a celebration of the insanely rare and highly coveted original dual manual ‘trons, namely the Mellotron® MkI/MkII and Chamberlin® Musicmaster.

M-Tron MkII is a new and distinct product from M-Tron Pro, yet part of the family.

Originally conceived as the ultimate Home Entertainment Console, the UK made 1963 MkI/MkII was a dual manual tape based instrument where the left manual’s 35 notes replayed a combination of 18 Rhythms and Accompaniments (66 on the GForce M-Tron MkII *) and the right manual (also 35 notes) replayed 18 lead sounds (66 on M-Tron MkII *).

M-Tron MkII was designed specially for producers and composers who want access to the evocative tones of the original dual manual Chamberlin®, Mellotron® MkI & MkII instruments with special emphasis on the Rhythms and Accompaniments which capture a moment in time between the 1950’s and late 1960’s.

If you are looking for a truly authentic MkII dose of nostalgia and host sync potential, you’ve found it.

RETUNE, HOST SYNC AND CREATE A FUSION OF HYBRID RHYTHMS AND ACCOMPANIMENTS

Under each key of the original MkII was over 40 feet of magnetic tape. At the press of a button, a scrolling mechanism would move that tape so that one of six different sections could be replayed. These sections are referred to as ‘Stations’ and each conformed to a specific style, musical key and tempo. Obviously, it was impossible on the original to mix and match Rhythms and/or Accompaniments from different Stations.

On the M-Tron MkII, we’ve kept this methodology, but added ways where Rhythms and Accompaniments from different Stations can be mixed and matched, vastly increasing the possible permutations and flexibility of the instrument. M-Tron MkII also offers the ability to retune an entire bank while maintaining the host tempo.

What’s more, M-Tron MkII features a Dual Rhythm Mode where you can layer two Rhythms and Accompaniments from the Chamberlin and Melly MkI & II to create a fusion of hybrid rhythms and motifs. We’ve also taken care not to iron out the character of the original tapes so the contrast between US and UK recordings is a joy to behold… warts and all.

EVOLVED, EVOCATIVE AND BEAUTIFULLY IMPERFECT

King Hussein of Jordan, Princess Margaret & L Ron Hubbard bought into the MkII’s Home Entertainment concept. But in much the same way as a younger generation reshaped music using Roland TB-303’s & TR-909’s in fresh and imaginative ways, so too did The Beatles, The Moody Blues, King Crimson, Genesis, The Rolling Stones, who catapulted its magnificently grainy tones into the public consciousness via Strawberry Fields Forever, The Court Of The Crimson King, Watcher of the Skies, Nights In White Satin and 2000 Light Years From Home.

All the sounds on the GForce M-Tron MkII are sourced from the MKI, MKII and Chamberlin Tape Archive curated by Martin Smith who prepared the recordings for this project. With these tapes undergoing extensive, but sympathetic tape restoration and tempo remapping, on M-Tron MkII both microphone and DI’d recorded versions of the lead tapes now sit side-by-side with combinations of rhythms and accompaniments, the latter of which can be synchronised to your host tempo and transposed to fit into your own compositions.

Gforce M-Tron MkII plug-in Features:

  • Rhythms, Accompaniments & Lead sounds from the 1960’s dual-manual Chamberlin & Mellotron MkI & MkII.
  • 132 tape-banks, several of which have never been previously released.
  • Over 4500 individual samples curated from The Streetly Archives.
  • Over 150 Patches.
  • Rhythm / Accompaniment & Lead mode, plus Dual Rhythm / Accompaniment mode.
  • Parallel Trigger option for Rhythms, Accompaniments or both.
  • Rhythm & Accompaniment Host Sync, Transposition, Tape Half Speed, Tape 2s-Rewind Time, Tape Reverse and Pan.
  • Individual key edit control (tape start, detune, tape pan, key click), & key edit presets save and recall.
  • Chord Finder visual-aid for playing matched Rhythms and Accompaniments.
  • Use one 88-note keyboard or two separate smaller keyboards to control each manual.
  • Reverb (modern or spring) and Delay effects.
  • Unlooped tape-banks for an authentic MkII playing experience.

Oddity3

Oddity3 – Brash, Bold & Beautiful

Oddity3 is a fresh and hugely enhanced rebuild of our much loved, multi-award winning Oddity software synthesizer. The original Oddity, along with its successor Oddity2, gained heavy praise by fans and critics alike for incredible accuracy and, in the case of Oddity2, a huge range of additions taking the legendary ARP® Odyssey into previously unrealized audio realms. Oddity3 retains the fundamental architecture at the heart of previous versions but builds on this in ways that extend its sonic and musical capabilities.

Oddity3 features an improved audio engine, a powerful new Preset Browser, over 250 new presets (plus all the originals), new Distortion and Reverb effects, a Vintage control to add authentic analogue imperfections, four programmable Macros, new and improved performance controls along with three new, fully scalable UI designs. This classic desert island synth just got even better.

A Classic Synth For The 21st Century

With the sound and character of the original hardware at its core, Oddity3 gives a classic synth a new lease of life. Authentic models of all three original filters, two syncable oscillators, an accurate recreation of the legendary ring modulator, AR and ADSR envelopes, and much more, we’ve spent countless hours ensuring that Oddity3 still provides a faithful and accurate recreation of one of the most highly revered synths ever.

Over the years we’ve enhanced these original features extensively, adding monophonic and polyphonic playability, a tunable sub oscillator, our unique X-Modifier technology, onboard effects and voice panning. Now, Oddity3 adds a raft of new features and improvements – a powerful new Preset Browser, expanded performance controls with programmable Macros, Velocity and Polyphonic Aftertouch, a Vintage knob for adding analog-style imperfections, new Distortion and Reverb effects, and more. All of this gives Oddity3 an authentic experience that feels at home in a modern setup.

X-Modifiers – A Sound Design Playground

Using our unique X-Modifier technology, users can reach new sonic heights with Oddity3. With a unique LFO and Envelope for almost every parameter on the synth, Oddity3 allows you to create hugely complex sounds. And, while the tone and character of the synth remains authentic to the original, the X-Modifiers allow you to take this classic sound to unexplored realms of possibility. This is the odyssey sound on steroids.

From Pretty To Gritty

When listening to some of the beautiful, soft pads in Oddity3, it would be easy to think that this is a synth with a gentle nature – but make no mistake. Oddity3 is a synth that’s just as happy screaming as it is singing. With raw oscillators, gritty filters, screeching hardsync and a gnarly ring mod circuit, the original hardware was made to shred. GForce Oddity3 retains this dirty, edgy character and takes it one step further – enhancing it with new ways to add dirt and grime to your sounds. The new distortion circuit allows you to mutilate and mangle your sounds even further, plus we’ve also added a Vintage control so you can dial in authentic analog inaccuracies to suit your taste. Sometimes, there really is beauty in imperfection!

Inspiration At The Speed Of Sound

Oddity3 features our brand new preset browser, which gives you the power to organise your sounds the way you want. With extensive tagging, sorting and search possibilities, it’s now quick and easy to find the presets you want. Talking of presets, we’ve got them by the bucketload. Firstly, we’ve included more than 250 brand new presets created by our team of GForce sound designers, as well as a number of highly-regarded synthesists. You can also access over 1750 legacy presets from Oddity and Oddity2, which have all been categorised and tagged for easy navigation. Finally, we’ve also included 66 presets that we faithfully recreated from original patch books. With a total of over 2000 presets at your fingertips, inspiration is just moments away.

Minimonsta2

Minimonsta2 – Boldly going where no mini has gone before.

When we first released it, the original Minimonsta gained heavy praise from fans and critics alike for providing an extraordinarily accurate sonic replication of the legendary Model D®. But it went much further, augmenting the simplicity of the original design with a host of new features that allowed the deeply familiar tones to be pushed into previously unexplored sonic realms. Minimonsta2 retains the fundamental architecture at the heart of its predecessor, but builds on this in ways that extend its sonic and musical capabilities into a uniquely deep & musical instrument and sets it apart from other Mini.

Minimonsta2 features a new fully resizable UI, an improved audio engine, a powerful new Preset Browser, over 300 new presets, a new Reverb effect, a Vintage control for adding subtle analogue imperfections, four programmable Macros, selectable 4-stage envelopes, an alternative bass-preserving ladder filter, PWM for OSC1 and much more. These powerful new features give Minimonsta2 an authentic experience that’s designed for the modern setup.

[Mini]Monsta

True to the original Model D®, the heart of Minimonsta2 provides the full original feature set with precise waveforms, a beautifully accurate resonant filter, snappy ADS envelope generators and the wonderful Mini loop-feedback function. Using just these classic parameters, Minimonsta2 has a huge tonal palette that ranges from fat to fierce, and searing to sizzling. However, there’s so much more here, as a plethora of additions turn a beautifully realised Mini into a truly unique Monsta.

[Monsta]Mini

Using our unique X-Modifier technology, the scope of sound modulation possibilities is immense. An intuitive X-LFO and X-ADSR section provides you with the ability to create extensive modulations of almost every parameter, allowing you to create hugely complex, yet musical, sounds. So, while the tone and character at the heart of the synth remains authentic to the original, the additional features turn it into a true sonic Monsta with no equivalent.
