Volt II

Volt II is the follow up to our last popular Kontakt library Volt I.

Volt II is packed with deeply sampled and highly playable sounds including hard hitting and gritty bass sounds, ethereal pads and strings, arpeggios, distorted other-world textures, alien atmospherics and dreamy uplifting chordal synths.

Volt II uses our Volt Meter controller which allows for multiple dial manipulations on the interface with just one dial movement. Essentially the Volt Meter is an advanced Macro. Assign your modwheel to the Volt Meter automate the parameters on the fly.

Volt II is perfect for all kinds of electronic music from ambient, abstract electronica to Techno and is also great for writing breakdowns for your next electronic masterpiece.

Comes with over 130 snapshots preset and we also included a collection of MULTI’s.

Audio demos are made with just a few instances of Volt II using simple chords etc – Volt II does the rest with slow evolving textures and gritty bass and distorted arpeggios etc.

Volt Meter

Volt has a special Volt Meter dial that is the centre of the action. Most of the controls on the front panel can be controlled by the movement of the Volt Meter.

Simply select from the front panel which controls are to be controlled by Volt Meter and then select the depth/range of the control – Moving the voltmeter will then control those active dials. You can also assign the Volt Meter to your Modwheel or any other external controller dial and control many dials with the Volt Meter.

The two sliders under each dial are to set the min and max movement that the volt meter will have on the dial ie they set the range that the dial will move, if it did not have those range dials then all the dials would move the same range from 0 to full which would not be that exciting. Also it is worth noting that the left slider can also go higher then the right slider and this will create an inverse movement when the volt dial is used. ie if the left slider is taller than the right slider then when the volt meter is used the dial will move in the opposite direction – good for using on Cutoff and res with an inverse set of sliders.

Most of the included snapshots have already been setup to respond to the Volt Meter – Give it a whirl and experiment.

It is easy to create stunning patches with Volt, and by clicking the Volt symbol in the centre of the interface you can randomise patches and let the chaos of the universe play a hand in the sounds you make.

Roomscape

Roomscape is an ambient infinite tape playback machine designed to generate infinite soundscapes derived from real-world field recordings of interior and exterior spaces.

The unique feature of Roomscape is that it is designed to emulate a tape machine in that you simply press play and then blend and modulate up to 4 sources as it plays. This gives incredibly unique evolving soundscapes that never stop! All sounds in Roomscape have been provided by 3Maze Sound Effects Libraries.

10 Sound Categories: 4 sounds sources, each with 10 sound categories. All sounds are accessible using the pop-up browser system and mixer settings are retained per sound.

Evolving Modulation: Roomscape allows nearly every single control to be modulated over time. With a dedicated pop-up modulation system with between 4 and 128 steps per conrol it is possible to create pulses, stepped sequences or long smooth progressions and adjust the speed individually for every control.

Send FX:  Roomscape contains 4 Send FX slots, each slot can be populated with 1 of 5 FX. Each channel can then send the signal to each slot. This makes it very easy to quickly swap effects on the fly without having to re-assign them for each source.

Snapshots: If you don’t know how to use snapshots in Kontakt then you don’t know what you are missing. They load quicker, can be organised better and shared easier than using a bunch of nkis.

Roomscape ships with 67 snapshots in 6 different categories to get you started:

  • Alien Spaces
  • Buildings
  • City
  • Country
  • FX
  • Nature

Synthetic Materials

Synthetic Materials is a simple, but powerful KONTAKT instrument fuelled by a rich assortment of modern-day classic analog and wavetable synthesiser sounds, complete with a scale-quantised semi-generative sequencer and support for user samples.

All the factory instruments (60 in total, approx 5GB compressed) have been sampled in 24 bit super-wide stereo, and include plenty of interesting content for long, evolving and atmospheric pads. The instrument comes with 100 snapshots plus 25 sequencer demos, but Synthetic Materials is really about making those sounds your own. There are also 50 Multis demonstrating what can be achieved by layering Synthetic Materials instruments plus five 4-track demo “songs” comprising 20 sequencer snapshots.

Instrument

Refine your sonic creations selecting from two different types of low pass filter (with envelope and LFO) or add some grit with a drive effect that has its own dedicated envelope. Further enhance your sounds with the instrument’s built-in effects, including 4-band EQ, stereo ping-pong delay, rotary, chorus, reverb and compression.

Add pitch-based expression with a unique velocity threshold legato glide, vibrato and an effects pedal inspired pitch shifter. The pitch shifter allows you to generate up to two additional notes for each one you play, for octave or chord effects, including velocity scaling, automated pan and subtle detuning. You can even emulate analog-like instability with variable pitch and velocity drift that randomly alters the pitch and tone of every single note.

Configure all of these parameters from a single screen on the instrument’s GUI or from your NKS controller.

Synthetic Materials also has its own percussion instrument, the “DM 78” which includes over 200 analog drum samples showcased by 100 “vintage” and “modern” sequencer snapshots of readymade beats for your projects.

User Samples

Synthetic Materials also supports user sample import giving you access to the same sample zone mapping design used by the factory sounds. Simply drag and drop your audio files, tweak your sample and loop points, then save custom instruments as snapshots. You can even share your creations with other Synthetic Materials users.

Sounds

All the base sounds (60 in total, approx 5GB compressed) have been sampled in 24 bit super-wide stereo, and include plenty of interesting content for long, evolving and atmospheric pads. The instrument comes with 100 snapshots plus 25 sequencer demos, but Synthetic Materials is really about making those sounds your own with its flexible sound design engine.

Powerful Sequencer

Last but not least, the Synthetic Materials step sequencer has been designed to be fun, creative and musically inspiring. Despite having only 16 steps maximum, the sequencer is driven by a generative probability-based engine that allows you to develop patterns that will never sound the same twice. Step length for each sequence can be set from a sixteenth note to a massive 8 beats in length for evolving soundscapes and simple chords. Velocity and gate is adjustable for each step, and steps can be optionally sub-divided for old-school “ratcheting” effects. Gate times can also be overlapped for glides between steps.

But the fun really starts when you explore some of the sequencer’s more unusual features…

The A/B options allows you to configure musical variation with alternative or combined pitches for each step. Add anything from subtle direction shifts to all-out chaos by assigning steps to “bump” or “jump”. All of this is probability-based of course! And finally, you can even sketch out musical ideas using the sequencer’s “shift automation” feature that auto-transposes your sequence while it’s running, with everything staying perfectly in key and in tune using built-in scale quantisation.

Kontakt Player & NKS

Synthetic Materials is compatible with the Free KONTAKT player, so you don’t need the paid full version of KONTAKT to use the library.  Synthetic Materials is also compliant with Native Instrument’s NKS standard, with categorised snapshots and parameter mapping, allowing you to browse and edit sounds from any NKS-compatible controller.

Compatible with KONTAKT Free Player and Full version: 6.6.1

Konstruktor

TRUE HYBRID DRUMS

Konstruktor is a hybrid drum designer and kit builder that blends acoustic sound sources with synthesized waveforms. Together with both fully acoustic and fully synthetic elements, this kit builder creates truly hybrid drums with a unique, fresh new sound.

CONVOLUTION COLORS

Model each kit component with its own convolution plugin: almost 400 custom impulses that color, shape, distort, and augment the drum samples. Thicken kick drums, smear and widen snares, turn hi-hats into mini rhythm engines. Glitchbomb, Drumrust, Echoglitz, Boomscope…

ROBOT OR HUMAN?

Control the amount of randomization that is applied to velocity and quantization—separately for each kit component. Make those snares and hi-hats extra trashy. And with 6 round-robin layers for every articulation, even fully synthetic kits can find a new groove. Let those kits run loose.

PERFORMANCE CONTROL

Adjustments to tuning, sample start points, decay envelopes, and sample width can also be used to control how different convolution impulses color an instrument. Subtle tuning changes, in particular, will often reveal new and unexpected frequency effects that can help to shape a whole kit.

FILTER CONTROL

Each of the 7 kit components has three dedicated, independently selectable lowpass, bandpass, and highpass filters, each with dedicated cutoff and resonance knobs for on-the-fly switching. Filtering offers another way to control how the convolution impulse colors the sound.

STATS

  • 3,648 Stereo 48kHz/24bit samples
  • 476 Instruments
  • 394 Custom-designed convolution impulse responses
  • 7 Independently controllable drum kit slots
  • 6 Round-robin layers for every articulation
  • Separate LP/BP/HP filters with dedicated cutoff/resonance controls for each kit slot
  • 108 Factory Kits

*Requires a keyboard/MIDI input. 64 MIDI rhythms are included for importing into your DAW.

ACOUSTIC-SYNTHETIC

From the start Klüsterkitt was about capturing the dirt and rattle of new and exotic acoustic sound sources, then blending and sculpting those wonderfully noisy, full-spectrum stereo sounds with synthesized ones.

The hunt for fresh, distinctive percussive sounds was a process of experimentation using a range of de/reconstructed acoustic objects. The four dozen instruments born from this process formed the sound palettes for Konstruktor, Fabrikator (coming soon), and Rezonator (coming soon). Playing techniques were honed to produce the most useful and interesting articulations for recording.

Session samples were then selectively mixed with pure tone waveforms, each tailored to color and transform them into new, truly hybridized rhythm instruments. Supplemented by fully acoustic variants and over 200 synthetic percussion sources, the result is a kit builder of astonishing depth and character.

ONE STEP FURTHER

What acoustic-synthetic blending did for the individual instruments, convolution would do for the drum kit. Almost 400 impulses were designed using vinyl/radio/tape/digital noise and static, particulate and granular effects, digital and acoustic sound effects, frequency modeling, mic effects and chorusing, and stereo imaging.

Some impulses are designed to affect particular frequency ranges, or to expand the feeling of depth and space around them, while others are designed to enhance the stereo image, create audio effects, or to generate interesting syncopations and multirhythms. Many of the impulses are designed to add dirt and texture to samples.

Packed with this kit builder are 108 beautifully constructed kits of big, full-sounding drums: acoustic-flavored synthetic drums and synthetic-flavored acoustic drums. Now with multi-out capability.
