The Thin China Signature line offers a dark, full and "trashy" sound. Very explosive at the first attack, followed by a soft, fast sustain. Well suited for the lower volume range.

The Heavy China of the Signature line offers an explosive, full, bright and "trashy" sound, but with a longer sustain than the Thin China. This makes it better suited for heavier players and situations that require more volume.

In response to extreme developments such as punk and heavy metal in the late 1970s Paiste developed the RUDE series.
