Cosmic Hand Pans

Cosmic Hand Pans is your complete steel handpan virtual instrument collection.

We’ve partnered with instrument-maker Grahm Doe of Hapi Drum to capture a classic D minor handpan in exquisite detail, as well as a pair of unusual hybrids that each have an utterly unique sonic flavor you won’t hear anywhere else. The traditional handpan has a distinctively dark, warm, mellow tone, with a ghostly and ethereal resonance rich with harmonic overtones. We recorded it with fingerpads and fingertips, as well as small soft rubber mallets and jazz brushes to give you plenty of sonic options.

Next we sampled two unique specimens resulting from Grahm’s quest to meld steel hand pans and tongue drums into a unified instrument. The first mutation is a Prototype fusion of a standard tongue drum and a handpan resonator face that was the first step on his blow-torch and pneumatic-hammer driven journey. It has a brash, plucky steel drum quality with intense and chaotic overtones. The durable steel tongues allow for much more aggressive articulations, including soft and hard rubber mallets and metal rods.

The second oddity is his signature Hybrid Handpan, a well-balanced and precisely- engineered instrument with standard handpan finger dimples on its face, tuned to match playable tongue drum tines on its belly. Each side has a distinct character that compliments the other. We recorded soft rubber finger mallets and sustaining finger rolls on the handpan face, as well as superball and giant rubber mallets on the tongues. With our intuitive multi-layered modular UI, you’ll enjoy complete freedom to mix, layer, retune and customize each sound to your heart’s content.

This library comes with an adaptable LFO system, with selectable LFO shape, modulation target parameter, speed, intensity, tempo-syncing and fade-in time. You can also apply your choice of 12 lowpass, high-pass and FX filters, with assignable modulation targets such as velocity, modwheel, expression, after-touch, key position and step-sequencer table control. Our customizable arpeggiator offers a velocity table and control over arp direction, timing, swing, randomization and duration. We’ve included a key and scale lock system to constrain your notes to common scales and keys for easy melodic composition and live performance.

Aztec Death Whistle

Conjure the sounds of the undead with the Aztec Death Whistle

The Aztec Death Whistle is a deeply sampled folk wind instrument that captures the dark soul of the ancient Aztec death whistle, a ceremonial clay resonator used during human sacrifice rituals and warfare at the height of the Aztec (historically also known as the Mexica) empire in Central America, during the 14 and 15th centuries AD in what has now become modern day Mexico.

This whistle—technically grouped into the same family of whistles as bird and animal call whistles— is made of kiln-fired clay. It has two chambers which create air cavities that are resonated by blowing into the top of the skull. It produces a harsh, raspy atonal vocal sound very much like a dying breath, but with a shrill demonic essence that is certain to evoke dread on an almost instinctive level. It is the sound of death incarnate.

We recorded sustains, flutter-tongues, staccatos, hand percussion in our dry studio with deep dynamic layering and 12x round-robin. You’ll also find single-shot dramatic stinger effects, such as swells, crescendos and diminuendos. We then recorded the instrument in a large cathedral from both close and far stereo mic positions to bring out a darker, more mysterious and ambient quality. We also created a wide variety of dark, ethereal and sinister sound designed ambiences, synth patches and FX presets created with the raw acoustic source to give you plenty of nightmare fuel to get your horror on. They make an ideal accompaniment to the main natural articulations in this library.

Aztec Death Whistle comes equipped with flexible control features, like attack, release, transient offset, dynamic swelling, octave, vibrato and a robust Arpeggiator system that provides a full range of custom dynamic arpeggiation modes and step sequencer pattern creation options. There’s also a complete DSP effects rack, including convolution reverb with dozens of unique spaces, such as cathedrals, churches, halls, bunkers, garages, tunnels, chambers, rooms and plenty of special FX impulses to fully explore and endless variety of strange and unexpected sonic manipulations

Features:

  • Product Version 1.0

  • 24 bit / 48kHz uncompressed stereo PCM wav audio

Alto Xylophone

A Wooden Orff Tuned Percussion & Sound-Design library built for Kontakt

Alto Xylophone is a deeply sampled Orff tuned percussion instrument primarily found in elementary music classrooms, measuring at just over two feet long. It has a warm plunky tone and fast decay, with 13 rosewood bars laid in a diatonic C major scale from C4 – A5. We used felt mallets to capture each note, then recorded glisses and percussive knocks. We also sampled two soprano xylophones an octave higher: One has 13 notes (C5-A6) with a rounded playful timbre, while the other has 12 notes (C5- G6) with a crisp biting tone, performed with mallets and wooden cube hammers.

All three xylophones were recorded in a dry studio using two microphone positions, with 10 round robin and up to 14 velocity layers per note.

After that, we expanded these natural wooden tones with 20 ambient organic soundscapes and 20 custom FX presets to kickstart your creative exploration. Alto Xylophone fits comfortably in any genre from horror to jazz, and it’s ready to bring acoustic percussive accents to your next composition. Bizarre Sitar

Bizarre Sitar may not seem so strange at first glance.

The full retail version of Native Instruments Kontakt version 5.5 (or later) is required to use .nki instrument presets included in this library.

It has most of the elements found on any other sitar, with it’s traditional gourd body, both main playable strings and sympathetic resonating strings, parda (adjustable curved frets), kunti (tuning pegs), dandi (neck), ghoraj (main bridge) all complete with orante hand-painted accents.

At just over 24″ in length, however, this little beauty is barely half the size of a standard sitar. Simply being small isn’t bizarre by any means, but what is bizarre is how it can achieve such a lush, full-bodied sound while being so small. Intended as more decoration than instrument, we feel this little guy has been highly underestimated. Although soft-spoken and possessing fewer strings than normal (5 main and 6 sympathetic), all this “baby” sitar needed was someone to listen closely. And we did. Very close.

The Bizarre Sitar includes chromatic plucks as well as strumming articulations. Two main strumming tunings are included, a fifth and octave/unison.

An onboard “Speed” slider (MIDI assignable and defaulted to the modwheel) allows you to sculpt the speed of the individual strum from very tight, fast strums to slower, plucky strums.

The unison articulation was tuned with strings in unison and in several octaves to give a very full sound. The fifth articulation was tuned with strings in unison and in fifths, similar to the Pancham-Kharaj tuning popularized by Ravi Shankar. By recording several different strumming speeds for both the fifth and the unison strumming articulations, this library allows you to create realistic sounding strums by adjusting the speed in real-time.

The strums are tuned and spread across the entire keyboard, providing deep, droning sounds in the low end and sharp, mandolin-like plucks in the high end.

Frendo

Custom Bow And Mallet Instrument FX Library For Kontakt

Frendo is a custom-built Soundiron instrument. We created this monster by stringing bailing wire around and through through steel plates and bolts, over galvanize steel piping and across wood planks. It was meant to suffer. You can help it by mistreating it in horrible ways with screwdrivers, bows, drum sticks, mallets and fingers. The instrument holds a vast amount of otherworldly sounds, which is ideal for composers looking for new disturbing, horror-like textures for their scores. Frendo is partially a mallet instrument, recorded with wooden and rubber mallets, but is also a more traditional string instrument, since we recorded finger plucks and bows. It’s the sound of Satan’s cello, weeping softly for your burning soul.

Made of knotty pine, rusted steel bailing wire, eye bolts, hooks, deck screws, hurricane brackets and an old 24″ bass drum, this 5-stringed son of a bitch was 8 feet long and 3 feet wide. The body had a 2″6 spine and two separate body segments to allow torquing and bending while the instrument was played. It was strung with black iron bailing wire, wound over galvanized steel angle brackets and plates and through heavy gauge eye bolts that we used as tuners, by way of a pipe wrench.

We played it with a violin bow, screwdrivers, rubber and wooden mallets, picks, hands and fingers and have provided an array of custom controls, presets, effects and tools to allow total sonic freedom and control over the sound. This library is a unique tuned percussion and string instrument in it’s own right, but also makes excellent effect and sound design material for stingers, trailers, reveals, slates, post production and any number of other specialized production uses.

This library was originally released in 2008 by Tonehammer. For our version 2.0 update, we improved key-mapping and overall playability, added a full set of brand new automatable performance, DSP FX, convolution reverb and advanced arpeggiator controls and refined the overall playing experience. The new Convolution Reverb effect features 73 select custom impulse responses, featuring some of our favorite recording halls and some rather unusual custom FX impulses.

The Drinking Piano

Welcome to The Drinking Piano by Soundiron!

This fat-bottomed monster upright has a classic beer hall sound, evoking images of the roaring 20s and pre-war 30s. It’s got all of the brutal wear and tear that you’d expect from a hundred-year-old instrument that has been played hard and put away wet, night after night. With a fat, wide and close sound, it puts you right on the bench with the yellow, cracked ivories under your fingers. It was recorded right up against the strings in a small, slightly reflective hall, giving it all the presence of a dry studio recording with just a hint of live ambiance.

The years of alcohol-fueled abuse have been less than kind to this once stately instrument.

With worn and rickety key action, unreliable dampers, loose pedal mechanics, wear hardened felts, the occasional misaligned hammer and decades of baked-in dust, every key has all the character and frailty of a hundred-year-old bartender. The strings were far too corroded to be tuned without risking breakage and further internal damage, so the whole thing is a little over a half-step flat. But beneath the beer stains and cigarette burns, this massive aging troubadour has a substantial pedigree. It’s an original Ivors and Pond model from the dawn of the 20th century, made of solid mahogany, with expert hand-craftsmanship and detail rarely seen in any modern uprights.

The Drinking Piano library features a range of proprietary features

This includes the latest version of our Uberpeggiator arp system, optional tempo synching volume and filter LFOs, custom convolution effects, parametric EQ and standard performance shaping parameters. Note attack and sample offset allow you to simply tighten the sound or create pad-like effects. Release timing with extended decay range settings, independent release sample volume and separate pedal SFX volume knobs give you complete control over the release and decay of the notes.

Micro-tuning and stereo-imaging allow you to fine-tune how the piano sits in a mix with other instruments.

The special Sober/Drunk switch gives you the ability to instantly tighten the sound wiping away years of wear and tear or hear the piano as it naturally sounds; a bit rougher around the edges. The Tuned/Untuned switch corrects the tuning of the entire piano, getting it about as close as it will ever be again to 440 and fixing the misaligned hammer action that can be heard souring a few notes here and there

Specifications:

  • 5.25 GB Installed
  • 1,778 Samples
  • 25 .nki files (open format) – 22 K4 / 3 K5

Dusty Roads

Dusty Roads captures the essence of a classic Fender Rhodes Mark II Stage Piano.

We recorded this vintage beauty in close stereo and direct line in, giving you total freedom to shape the tone and make it your own. The end result is a naturally playable, great-sounding instrument that will come alive in your tracks, with tons of sound-shaping options and expanded content to take this classic sound in new directions.

This iconic model was one of the most popular in the legendary instrument line originated by Harold Rhodes. He developed his unique take on the electro-acoustic piano concept during World War II in an effort to build compact bed-side electric pianos to aid in the recovery of wounded soldiers. He released an early version, the “Piano Bass”, with Fender in 1959. The first full-sized model, The Mark I “Suitcase”, was released in 1965 after CBS bought Fender.

The Mark I “Stage” followed in 1970 and this Mark II came out in 1979. While the Rhodes line was just one of many early attempts at “electrifying” the piano concept and sound, it achieved a tonal and dynamic character that was completely new and utterly distinct. The Mark II has a smooth, silky, almost glassy bell tone when played softly, but it quickly rises up when the player digs into it with a fuzzy growl and full body of an electric organ. It is one of a very few classic keyboards that have come to define the aesthetics of mid-20th century music.

We sampled all 73 keys with 6 velocity layers and 4 round robin, then recorded key up and down SFX so you can dial in the release volume and amount of key attack click, giving just the right amount of tactile presence when you really want to feel the instrument. Not content to stop there, we crafted 20 evolving textural soundscapes that range from ethereal and cinematic, to haunting and atmospheric – perfect for underscoring and adding depth to your musical compositions.

You can weave them into the sound in real-time or play them as their own instruments. You’ll also find 20 custom FX presets that utilize the multi-layer features and FX of our template to stretch the sounds in all kinds of new directions. And finally, our modular FX rack allows you to re-amp your new e-piano with various pedal, amp and speaker combos and pile on a variety of DSP effects.

Specifications:

Hyperion Strings Micro

ABOUT

Hyperion Strings Micro is our introductory orchestral string library for Native Instruments’ free Kontakt Player, Komplete Kontrol and S-Series Keyboards.

This library is the perfect starter pack for songwriters and musicians just getting into orchestral writing, as well as seasoned composers wanting new colors in their orchestral palette. No matter what your creative needs are, you’ll discover the powerful toolset and outstanding audio quality that you’re looking for in this convenient and extraordinarily flexible virtual instrument library.

This library has a forward and robust sound unlike any other. We recorded our string ensemble sections up close on a dry sound-stage — the historic Studio A at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, CA — and then equipped the interface with plenty of spatialization, environment simulation and positioning controls and options to let you dial in the sound and character you need. It’s perfect for any musical style from rock, pop and EDM, to fully orchestral compositions.

The interface is detailed, configurable and feature-rich to allow total customization. However, for all of the bells and whistles we’ve designed into Hyperion Micro, we’ve carefully refined every feature to be intuitive and naturally simple to use, with virtually no learning curve.

CONTENTS

Hyperion Strings Micro includes a combined full ensemble preset, as well as 4 main section presets for our 8 Violins, 6 Violas, 5 Cellos and 4 Double Basses. For this Micro Edition, we’ve included the most essential core articulations for each section: multi-dynamic sustains both with and without natural vibrato, staccatos, spiccatos and pizzicatos, as well as two basic dynamic expressions: long crescendos and decrescendos.

The multi-dynamic sustain, staccato, spiccato and pizzicato articulations allow smooth crossfading across dynamic layers, from piano to forte with the Swell control. In addition to dynamic layering, you can also choose rich, natural vibrato or clean non-vibrato sustain types or seamlessly blend between them with the sustain blend control. You can also instantly switch the staccatos, spiccatos and pizzicatos to velocity sensitivity mode and control dynamics directly as you play.

The pizzicatos also allow manual or automatic switching between naturally loose flams and precise tight plucks that adapt to your speed. Each of these short articulation types also features two “round-robin” variations per note. The Crescendo and Decrescendo expressions allow real-time dynamically-aware release sample triggering, tempo-synching and time-stretching. These are a great introduction to our broader “Expressions” concept for modular arrangement.

Main Features:

  • Product Version 1.0
  • 5 nki Kontakt instrument Banks
  • 2,950 Samples
  • 2.5 GB installed
  • 24-bit, 48 kHz Stereo Lossless NCW Format.
  • 5 master section presets: Ensemble, Violins, Violas, Cellos, Basses.
  • Multi-dynamic sustains, with smooth real-time control over natural vibrato and dynamic transitions.
  • Multi-dynamic staccatos, spiccatos and pizzicatos with 2x round-robin.

Sick 3

Welcome to Sick Volume 3: Dark Places.

This deep sound & music design collection features 175 professional dark/suspense/horror environments, soundscapes, hellscapes and nightmare worlds. We’ve hand-crafted horrific demonic creatures, feverish states of sonic delirium, monstrously shambling slavering hordes and discordant fever dreams. We traveled to the edge of a hurricane and wandered the endless halls of decrepit, vermin infested industrial, military and institutional ruins to capture authentic, production grade field ambiences that truly live and breathe.

Sick 3 also includes a massive collection of 335 live stereo convolution reverb impulse response files captured in a wide range of remote horror-friendly environments: bunkers, prisons, waterfronts, graveyards, forests, chambers, warehouses, sewers and more.

We’ve focused this catalog of impulses on environments leaning toward dark and foreboding, from the vast hopelessness of a derelict prison hall to a terrifyingly claustrophobic earthen grave. Recorded at a variety of capture distances, angles and degrees of occlusion, they provide realistic coloration and spatialization when placing additional instruments, sound design and foley into a mix, allowing you to augment other source material in your music, film, television, game or multimedia production.

You can find these acoustically accurate impulse responses in the Samples folder – they’re compatible with any convolution effect, host, virtual instrument or utility that supports wav impulse import.

Features

  • One master NKI instrument bank in open Kontakt format
  • Creature noises, Convolutions, Environment field recordings, Drones, SFX
  • 40 Ambience patches created from the source content
  • 24 bit / 48 kHz uncompressed PCM wav samples

  • 4.6 GB Installed
  • Flexible and intuitive multi-layer user interface controls, with LFO, filter, glide, and arpeggiator

Orrville Pipe Organ

Orrville Pipe Organ is a classic pneumatic pipe organ with 1,224 pipes, 21 ranks, 3 divisions, 2 manuals, 18 stops and 31 registers. It was built for the First Presbyterian Church of Orrville, Ohio in 1963 by the venerable Schantz Organ Company. With a robust and mighty sound, it’s a much more elaborate and powerful instrument than you’d typically expect to find in a smaller rural church like this one, allowing the sound to completely fill the space with an epic presence and grand tonal body. However, that all might be explained by the fact that the Schantz workshop is just a mile up the road in the same small town.

We captured several of our favorite sustain and staccato articulations in two microphone positions, as well as chimes, zymbelstern, blower, and pedal noises for ultimate realism. We’ve also included tons of custom FX patches and sound-designed ambient synth pads created from the source to make this library extraordinarily playable and versatile. Whether you’re looking to create a massive video game sound, bold synth bass tone or play straight from the hymnal, Orrville’s got the pipes to do it!

Contents

Chroma Bells

Chroma Bells is a collection of 12 tuned steel, brass and bronze hand bells from England, India, China and Tibet. Each one has a distinct brightly or darkly resonant character, providing an awesome variety to fit any arrangement. They’re great for creating full melodic compositions, accenting percussive arrangements or even as pure sound effects.

We recorded single-note rings, sustaining rolls and special muted articulations, each captured with extensive velocity-layering and round robin variations for exceptionally dynamic natural playability and beautiful acoustic realism. There are three stereo microphone positions that you can freely mix and layer. You’ll find our classic ultra-close pair of large-diaphragm studio mics for dry, crisp and strongly present tonality. There’s also a wide-spaced overhead pair of pencil omnis for a spacious room sound. Lastly, just for fun, we’ve used a pair of very rustic tin can microphones that offer a raw, yet somehow smooth mid-century vintage lofi flavor with a warm mid-range, dark tone and rounded transients.

Delphi Piano 2

Introducing Delphi Piano series, volume 2: Knightsen Boxgrand

A marvelous musical rarity with an untamed spirit. In this series, we explore vintage and classic instruments as portals into new worlds of creative sound design possibility. This time, our focus is on massive, emotionally charged textures that overflow with bombast, while ornately enriched with intricate detail and a distinctive character. It’s not just another ordinary old piano; this one possesses a wild side that pushes the boundaries of sonic exploration outward a little further than we usually go.

In this library, we explore new forms of sonic pareidolia, simultaneously conjuring illusions and revealing the ghosts in the signal. Our goal is to preserve its beauty, flaws and deeper untapped potential in an eternally playable form. Next, we reshape the source recordings into new and complex evolving tones, textures, movements, patterns, abstractions and distortions. It is a collection of playable soundscapes, and transcendent leads, with a wide selection of custom presets and options to transform the sound in an endless variety of new ways that we’re sure will surprise and inspire you.

The Kontakt interface includes a suite of automation-ready sound-shaping controls to give you total creative flexibility. You have control over swell, attack, release, offset, vibrato, filter, pitch (coarse & fine), articulation switching, cross-fading and layering, and so much more.

The interface is rounded-out by our modular FX rack panel, with 27 different DSP effect modules that you can assign in any of 8 available slots, in any order that you wish. You’ll find classic phaser, flanger, delay, distortion, amp and cab simulators, compressors, EQ, rotator and so much more. The Reverb effect includes our favorite convolution reverb impulse responses, including 99 different rooms, halls, chambers and outdoor environments, plus another 40 custom FX impulses to radically transform the sound and open up whole new worlds of musical possibility. We’ve added a great bank of FX rack chain factory presets to get you started!
