Dual-Oscillator with 5 Waveforms

You Won’t run out of Classic Analogue Sounds Anytime Soon

Unique is a well-crafted emulation of synthesisers from the golden age of analogue keyboard sounds. Some of the strings and piano sounds will bring back fond memories, while there’s plenty of depth and power to the basses.

Sound and functionality have been designed together with musicians to cover a wide range of sounds and ease of use. We took a close look at some old techniques to reinvent them for the current age. The user interface is simple but powerful.

And it’s a pretty versatile instrument. Once you’ve built your sound, there’s tons of sound polish in a juicy filter section and two chained multi effect units.

Activate Vowel Mode

The sound of Unique springs to life when it hits the filter section. Needless to say, analogue high-pass, low-pass and band-pass varieties are in place, along with a comb filter. But standards aside, the actual intention behind this project, a Vowel Filter, also became its outstanding feature. The Vowel Filter allows you to string together two or four vowel formants and play them back in a multitude of ways.

The internal controller section will bring in some much-needed dynamics. There’s a recordable XY field, a sequencer and it’s all very easy to manage with just a right-click on any control. User feedback range from “the Controllers section rocks!” to “the Controllers section just blows me away!”

It’s not a Software, it’s a Mindset!

Thanks to the unusual architecture, Unique always remained special down to the present day. The duo-phonic arpeggiator, polyphonic auto-panning per oscillator and the complex filter have what it takes to let your mix shine.

The modulators can be triggered in many different and “unique” ways: for example with the lowest note played, the first note played or even with the sequencer clock or the arpeggiator.

Yet another stunning feature: The internal LFOs have fade algorithms for rate and intensity; and we implemented a proper polyphonic portamento, too.

Guitarist

Unrivalled Functionality

Guitarist is a virtual guitar that’s designed to emulate rhythm parts played on an electric guitar. The actual guitar player has been transformed into a step sequencer system with a huge level of customisation when it comes to chords or fingering patterns and a detailed control over authentic nuance and expression.

The Sequencers

Detailed Control and Vast Arrangement Options

The Patterns page in the centre is actually very easy to use. On 16 steps you can determine if a chord is triggered, which strings are played and if the strum goes up- or downward.

Each string can be played individually at any time, guaranteeing gigantic arpeggios, nuanced metal riffs are also easily done. The damp- and deadnotes make it funky and lively.

The lower lanes are where you can define the chord sequences. Select a root note, choose one of 12 different chord types, each available in three fingering variations and use the “step-repeat” for longer patterns. You can also create up to 24 user chords (incl. impossible chords) by clicking on the fretboard.

The Human Touch

Busy Fingers

The “Animations” page lets you program extra movements for each of the mechanical “fingers” on the fretboard. A finger can be moved up or down by one, two or three semitones per step, to enrich chords with harmonic elements.

The “Action Section” offers the means for immediate intervention. Loop parts with a press of a button, include dead- or damp notes, half tempo works as well.

The Guitars

Four Electric Models with More to Come

Three different guitars are built in: Fender’s Stratocaster and Telecaster are included, along with a Duesenberg Starplayer Special. The Starplayer exists in a “Bright” and “Normal” version.

Each of these beautiful six-strings was recorded with 2,000 samples. Extensive sets of fretted notes and open strings have been sampled, each one repeated several times.

The “round robin” function can alternate the playback of different samples. In Random mode, a sample is selected at random from the available pool for the note triggered.

Amps and Effects

Form Your Sound

Two effect-units with 10 effects altogether provide the colors you are looking for. FX1 specializes in modulation effects, including a very nice Chorus, a throaty Phaser, and “Phase Wah” and “Auto Wah” effects. FX2 does classic delays and reverbs, and a reverse‑buffer delay effect.

Two wonderful sounding amp models are available as well as a direct out mode for your favorite amp-emulator-software.

And there’s the Wah-Wah pedal. This is more sophisticated than the average guitar stomp-box, with an integral, variable‑rate LFO to sweep the effect back and forth (this can be deactivated, and a MIDI controller assigned for manual control). The LFO can be set to retrigger with input signals above a given threshold (another way of producing “auto‑wah” effects), and Max and Min controls allow you to set the upper and lower boundaries of the effect’s sweep.

Clever and Detailed Mechanics

The Feature List Keeps on Giving

Here are some more features to improve workflow and provide an authentic setup:

  • Global Strum Speed controllable by host automation
  • Export MIDI sequences to your DAW – can be useful when used to double on another instrument
  • Copy/Paste buttons all over the place for effective composing
  • Detune strings by a semitone using the pegs

Sounds & Presets

Authentic and Expressive:

  • Presets are sub-divided into four categories: Global, Sound, Pattern and Chord
  • Sound presets store settings such as the guitar type and selected effects. Pattern presets store the strumming and picking patterns, while Chord presets store chord changes
  • Selecting a Global preset automatically loads the matching presets in the other three categories. However, you can mix and match the different categories, combining the chord progression from one preset with the picking from another, and the effects settings from still another
  • User presets of all four types can be created and saved

Features

  • Four electric Guitars with more to come soon
  • More than 2,000 Samples for each Sixstring
  • Control over Strum, Chords & Song Structures
  • Action Section for real-time Control
  • Slides, Vibratos or Portamentos

The Kit Page provides the most important functions of the sound engine. Each of the eight kit channels provides a preset browser for the individual sound, controls for global pitch and decay, a modify knob and a profiled random function. Define a Mute group in oder to make a trigger on one engine choke the sound on another engine and use Choke Groups for open/closed hihat choking, but also for interesting synth sounds.

The Finalizer is a well balanced recipe of transient shaper, compressor, maximizer and saturation. Use it to bring out the Attacks of your drums and let the room breath.

Millions of Drum Sounds

Drum sound randomizers with profiles and the MakeKit button will keep on surprising you with new drum sounds and kits. Simple patterns turn into livid tracks with the Auto Fill feature, which inserts fills and parameter changes at certain song positions. The revolutionary Remix control creates crazy fills and covers lots of groove and fun.

The Pattern, Mute & Mapping section offers you extensive live-performance-oriented control over DrumComputer. Enjoy total freedom when it comes to assigning drum sounds to your keyboard and use Key zones for rolls, pitch, and modulations. 8 keys are reserved for the mute function, perfect for live-re-arranging of your beats. 16 pattern keys plus pattern chain allow for easy pattern editing and sequencing.

Sequencer

The 16-step/16-pattern sequencer is packed with features. While it provides Tempo, Direction and Step Length per track, its also capable of generating complete, complex patterns with more than just triggers, you have to try it to believe it.

Modulation sequencers for probability, rolls, step delay and also pitch- decay- and mod sequencers are included. And the best part: A complete MIDI drag and drop feature generates a MIDI file that contains everything from triggers, modulation sequences to auto fills and their related CCs.

Nest

A Rule-Based MIDI Sequencer

Nest is a modular system which gravitates around the creation of MIDI. The basic ingredients are: 20 modules inspired by classic integrated circuits and today’s computer features, a clever voice to synth assignment, 12 patch scenes and a quad VST/Synth/MIDI Interface.

Key Features

  • Build your own sequencer!
  • More than 20 different modules
  • Generate 8 MIDI voices and assign to 4 targets
  • Host up to 4 VST2 plug-ins
  • Use internal synths and drums
  • Recall 12 scenes via MIDI
  • Send to 16 MDI channels
  • Plus MIDI CCs and automation
  • Multi audio outs (5 stereo)
  • Flexible scale system

What is Nest

Nest is a modular sequencer. It offers all kinds of modules to generate and process triggers and numbers. You can build highly complex sequencing environments with the aim to produce music with a life of its own.

Nest is equipped with resemblings of classical, transistor based integrated circuits like Shift Registers or Multiplexers, plus programming tools like the if/else and math modules. Also a writable Sequencer and flexible Arpeggiator are onboard, to make life easy when needed.

A clever voice assignment distributes the 8 possible MIDI voices to up to 4 different sound generators like VSTs, internal Synths and Drums or MIDI channels. This can make Nest not only fun when hosting your favorite plugins, you can also use it to drive your hardware park.

A new Sequencer everyday

Hardware is made of interesting components, and tinkering with them is loads of fun, now Nest provides this experience without sourcing parts and magic smoke. It provides access to the main building blocks of modern electronics, and it allows for free patching and experimenting.

You can throw circuits together like Lego bricks, and with that, sheer endless possibilities open up. Create beats from numbers and numbers from beats, distribute patterns across multiple sound sources, build intelligent songmachines.

Nest is a super flexible composition tool, which brings together classical transistor logic with modern computer functions. The wire-patching offers endless possibilities and surprises. With 12 patch scenes and a powerful sound interface, Nest is a little laboratory for complex, intelligent music machines.

The two faces of Nest

We have 2 Pages: Wire and Sound.

On the Wire Page we create the awesome patch and send it to up to 8 voice slots. The range of possibilities is sheer endless. More than 20 modules to combine, some rather for numbers (pitch, velocity, modulation), some for gates (triggers, rhythms). With 12 Scenes, a patch can have many variations and allows for playing with songs structures.

On the Sound Page, we receive these 8 voices and assign them freely to 4 channels. So we could have a huge layered 8 voice chord, or 3 voices could be drums, another 3 would be a chord and the last two might be a bassline and some samples. Each Channel can be an internal Synth, a VST Plugin or MIDI Out. A fine reverb puts your patch into perspective and adds a silver lining to even the most simple sounds. With the multiple audio outs, each sound channel plus the reverb channel can be routed to an individual DAW channel.

Artillery2

A Sugar Bytes Classic

The concept is as simple as it is effective: An arsenal of 28 effects can be assigned to zones on your keyboard. Then fire up the effects with your keyboard! Artillery simply is a great product, allowing you to create mad effect orgies in an intuitive manner. As you become familiar with its possibilities, you’ll find yourself turning to Artillery more and more often, be it on stage or in production.

Intelligent & Versatile

Chances are Artillery Will Substitute a Few of your Plug-ins

Effect zones are set up by drawing boxes across ranges of keys on the on-screen keyboard. The collection of processors (6 categories) ranges from standard filters and delays to advanced granular processing and even a vocoder.

We surely did work on the sound of Artillery: it spans a dazzling array from traditional filter sweeps, dead-on delays to extreme granular, loop- and vocoder effects.

Another focus of our development were resources. You can stack as many of the effects as you like: cpu load will rarely be in the double digits.

Universal Modulator

Transparent & Versatile Control

Once you have defined your keyzone, a specific set of controls appears on screen. Each effect has its own parameters that can be modulated by Key Tracking (which note you play on the keyboard inside the range), an LFO, an envelope, or a step sequencer.

Having a different modifier for each parameter of a single effect can be a little daunting in the beginning, but it allows for some really intricate sounding effects.

An animated green ring around each parameter knob shows the strength of the modulation as it takes place, so you can, for example, see the ring pulsing in time to an assigned LFO.

Key Tracking

Modulate According to the Pitch of the Played Note

The key tracking option allows you to apply one effect to a group of keys and have each key modify the effect.

You could apply a delay to an octave of keys and have the delay time or feedback change as you work your way up or down the octave.

Or have a looper where the size of the loop changes as you work your way up the keyboard, creating 8th note to 16th note to 32nd note stutters before a big impact.

Host Integration

Setting up Artillery in your DAW

It’s really simple, here’s FL Studio as an example: Open up Artillery on any channel, and create a MIDI Out layer just like you would any other type of layer.

Set the output to any number and go into Artillery, click the button that looks like a gear in the upper left-hand corner, and set the input and output to the same number as in your MIDI out layer.

Sounds & Presets

Unlimited creative possibilities:

  • Use Artillery 2 to do magic with your tracks or live signals on stage, in your VST/AU/AAX compatible DJ software or in your studio setup
  • Turn an EQ into a multiband comp with a set of envelope followers, let the Looper scratch its buffer using a step sequencer, play pitched delay times on the keyboard, or let Ring modulators pitch jam along the transients of your audio!

Features

  • Multi-Effect with definable keyboard zones
  • 28 Effect Algorithms
  • Consistent MIDI Integration and Host Sync
  • Flexible Modulation System with Key Tracking and Universal Modulator
  • Dedicated Modulation, Env. & Dry/Wet per effect
  • Each Parameter: LFO, Env-Foll. & Sequencer

Egoist

Groove in a Box

Use samples or full songs as a sound source. Instant Groove. The onboard bassline, a drum machine and the multi-effect sequencer make Egoist the perfect track sketching tool in the studio and on the road. You’ll soon fall in love with its distinct features and concept.

It’s All Simple But Effective Stuff

The Slice Arranger Couldn’t Be More Straight forward

Egoist easily does what would take considerable effort in a traditional sampler: In record time, it can rearrange even the most predictable of samples to some great-sounding chops.

Each slice has separate controls of pitch, direction, attack, decay and volume. So, let’s assume you play the same snippet over and over again – each step would sound completely different than the one before.

The factory library packs 760MB sonic material, from acoustic beats, piano- & percussion loops, synths, vocals to FX, so you can go for hours before using external audio. Via „Load Sample“, you can import the formats .wav, .aiff and mp3.

Drum ‘n’ Bass

What All Good Music Is About

Having made a slice sequence, you might wanna grab inspiration by its tail and move on with the structure of your idea. Therefore, we added the Bassline and the Beat. And this trinity of Sample, Beat and Bass really provides the most minimal setup to craft an idea in one go.

The Bass Tab lets you create classic bass lines (á la 303 or SH101). Run the oscillator in saw or pulse and tune essential parameters like resonance, decay & cutoff modulation.

The drum module is straight and to the point, just like its neighbour. More than 1,000 sampled kick, snare and hi-hats (open and closed) neatly organised in 15 kits. You can control pitch, loudness and velocity options. 96 samples per drum kit and a “Mix and Match” option leave you with endless combinations.

Cheerful Rebel

Arpiculation Is Arpeggiator and Intonation

Rather than being a static add-on, the effects can be varied on a per-step basis. Of course, being able to treat effects as one-shot moments is much more dynamic than using overall global effects. A familiar concept to anyone who knows Effectrix.

There are 7 processors in total, a small but well-formed array: Reverb, Chorus, Delay, Filter, Lo-Fi, Tape Stop and Looper – to be applied to Slicer, Beat and Bass.

These con artists of sound are all quite beautifully depicted in their respective icons. Each offers a couple of parameters that can be edited via sliders, while the Filter section begins by offering 7 types and an equal amount of cutoff modulation sources from across the instrument.

Neat Integration with your DAW

Slice Key Mode: Triggers Patterns or Slices per MIDI

Much like a traditional hardware sequencer, Egoist uses a pattern-based method for chaining patterns into a song. Each pattern can contain a different sample, slicing setup, individual bass, beat and effects setups…

If you’d rather use your DAW’s sequencer instead, the small piano keys button at the bottom left lets you trigger the patterns or the individual slices. On the setup page, you can select whether the sequencer’s clock source is internal or via your host, and choose if DAW/host will start the sequencer on playback.

The patterns themselves are triggered by pressing C1 through D#2, and the individual sequencer slices by pressing C3 through D#4.

Sounds & Presets

Some catchy tunes coming out of this thing:

  • The sample library contains over 400 sounds in 16 folders filed according to their origin (drums, guitar, modular, SFX, etc.). The drum machine comes with more than 1,000 sampled drum sounds
  • There are more than 200 excellent pre-produced presets, including a number from Detroit legend Mike Huckaby

Features

  • Slicer, Bass, Beat and an Effect Sequencer
  • Easy Arranging of Sample Slices
  • Perfect Track Sketching Tool
  • Arrange up to 16 slices with detailed control
  • Round and fat basses or blatant 303 lines
  • Beatbox with HiHat, Kick and Snare
  • Effect Engine for bright colours in the right spots

New Features and Content:

  • The new version adds features to all four engines: all sequencers are polyrhythmic now with independent clock dividers, the slicer got a monophonic mode, we added scales to the bass, powerful mod sources to the filter and Pan control for the Hi-Hats!
  • There’s also new content: more presets, new slicing samples and a fresh drumkit: “Cwejman S1”.

Looperator

Enter the FX Matrix!
Looperator chops up your audio and turns it into something new. In the process, you can dispose of the classics like Filters and Reverbs, but also trippy Loop and Vinyl manipulations.

Looperator makes you sound as if you worked on your track for hours and hours and really all it took was a click of a button.

MAIN FEATURES

  • 16-Step Sample Slicer
  • Looper with Reverse Mode
  • Time Stretch & Talkbox Filter
  • Recall presets with MIDI notes
  • Independent Control for left/right Channel
  • Unlimited Undo/Redo
  • Intelligent Random
  • 5 Parameters per effect and step

Plug in and let Loose!

Looperator unites two concepts: you can re-arrange the material with the Slicer and place effects with surgical precision. Right from the start, we aimed at a tool that is easy to handle and produces favourable results.

The preset tools make creating of rolls, loops and stutter edits, that can be fiddly to build in a DAW, a matter of a few mouse clicks.

And when inspiration has left the room, the smart random algorithms with detailed programming options will generate sequences with a high chance of sounding balanced and useable.

Extensive MIDI Integration & Modest on your CPU
Looperator can be triggered in sync with the DAW’s transport controls, or via notes from a MIDI track. In a classic DJ setup, it syncs with your DJ software.

You can assign complete effect sequences to MIDI notes – this way you can trigger individual patterns. This gives you plenty of flexibility when it comes to applying magic to audio signals in a live environment.

Find a boring drum loop! In under a minute, you’ll have something sounding not only completely different, but truly compelling.

It’s undemanding on your resources, so running a number of instances and incorporating the results into a broader project is a truly effortless process.

The Beauty of Under-the-Hood Editing Power
Despite its simple interface, Looperator is a surprisingly deep plug-in if you really dig in.

Each effect holds its individual parameters (5 settings), each of which can be controlled by one of 20 selectable and adjustable envelope shapes, a simple automation-ready parameter dial, an envelope follower, or a randomiser.

Much of the time, you won’t need to go any further than the ready-made steps, but when you do, the four user-defined steps per track give you full and precise control of vital effect parameters on a per-step basis.

When it comes to animating lively sequences on a detailed level, the possibilities are literally endless.

Dynamics and Depth
The processing chain runs from top to bottom and you can alter the order of the six lanes by a simple vertical drag–and–drop.

If for example, the Slicer is below FX1, then the results of FX1 will be included in the slices as you sequence them—after which they’ll be filtered, looped and processed through FX2 and the envelopes.

Each effect module has an individual dry/wet and the global mix control boasts 6 different setups.

All UI elements put the spotlight on the task at hand and directly respond to every user action with visual feedback.

Take a Peek at the Manual, or Don’t…

Don’t overthink it! Looperator allows unlimited undo steps. This security encourages experimentation. Silence your critical voice, paint some patterns, and when it sounds good, save the preset.

Features and logic will become apparent through use and you’ll hear for yourself that Looperator’s output of new ideas from the first moment is intoxicating.

From subtle enhancements to spectacular effect pyrotechnics: Looperator’s expressive potential quickly approaches the character of an instrument.

Sounds & Presets

Rearrange your groove..!

Looperator comes with over 300 presets, ready to instantly transform your sounds. The factory library is categorised, making it easy to tell at a glance what sort of sonic role each set of patches is best suited to.

Thesys

The Art of Expression

Step Sequencers are an attractive concept. Machines making music. Who could better awake the genie in the machine than Thesys, the drawing board for step-based music creation?

A refined Randomizer is ready, whatever the current situation, to mutate existing material or to bring a new approach on the table.

MAIN FEATURES

  • Powerful 32-step MIDI Sequencer
  • Pitch Recorder
  • Choose and trigger Patterns per MIDI
  • Pattern sequencer for longer passages
  • Real-time Manipulation of the patterns per keyboard
  • Internal Synth
  • Vast Randomizer
  • Independent Loop lengths for all 5 sequencers
  • 18 sequencer lanes
  • MIDI Out and Drag ‘n’ Drop

Generate Pitch
The sequences can simply be painted, but with the random generator and the mutate-function you can easily generate patterns on the fly. Or record the pitch straight from your MIDI keyboard. The internal synthesiser saves you lengthy wiring sessions so you can start straightaway.

Start by setting the root note. When using the scales, no out-of-key note will slip through your fingers.

Below the pitch lane, you’ll see the Velocity (volume) and Gate Sequencer (controlling each note’s length). It’s in these top three sections that you’ll spend the most of your time, programming riffs and arpeggios, then assigning them to patterns.

Detailed Per-Step Control
The fourth step window is home to the Performance Sequencer, which is in fact 5 sequencers in one. Each row offers per-step control over Octave, Pitch Bend (with 20 pre-configured shapes), Chord (for polyphonic sequencing), Note Roll and sequence randomisation of a vast range of other cleverly implemented “humanising” elements to your patterns.

The final lane is the CC modulation section: each step accepts a value of 0 to 127, pumped out to a MIDI CC of your choosing. You can actually run several Modulation sequences simultaneously – up to eight – with all of them controlling different CCs.

Some Action in Real-Time
Up to 16 full patterns can be created within a single project. They can can be sequenced within the Pattern Sequencer (bottom right) or triggered via the Keyboard (set to “Pitch”), where the full length of the keyboard is used to transpose the current pattern. Switch to “Performance” and the keyboard is split into 3 zones: Pattern Select, Action Section and a Range for pitch transposing.

The “Action Section” offers 8 effects that can influence the patterns in real time. Choose from Looping, Half-Time, Re-Trigger or a Tempo Break.

Sequencing Magic
The lanes within a single pattern can be set to operate over different lengths. You could have pitches cycling over 16 steps, while velocity cycles over 15 steps and a modulation lane is used to sweep a synth filter over 29 steps.

The end results can yield some fascinating interactions between these different step-cycle lengths and an almost endless evolution of the pattern. If you thought step sequencers were only capable of creating repetitive fixed patterns, think again!

There’s More… Internal Synth for Idea Sketching on the fly & MIDI Export

Yes, Thesys also comes with its own synthesiser, it is perfectly capable and very useful if you just want to develop a few quick ideas.

In its VST2 and AAX versions, Thesys is fully MIDI-out capable. As an Audio Unit, it can be plugged as a MIDI FX to trigger other AUs. In the 1.5.1 Update, we implemented MIDI Export. Just drag and drop from within Thesys to your host or simply save the file to your desktop. Quick and easy!

Send melodies, controller data and program changes. Save patterns to a MIDI file.

No other MIDI sequencer offers you the ease and power of Thesys. It is 100% MIDI compliant – the ultimate MIDI sequencing solution. Use Thesys on your iPad to control multiple apps or external hard- and software!

Graindad

Explore the many faces of granular

Graindad is a granular effect for high quality realtime audio manipulation. Freeze, texturize or reorganize & slice your audio, triggered by transients, clocks or MIDI notes. A complex modulation system with intelligent randomizers provides astonishing results. Filters, reverbs, delays and the all-at-once manipulating Harvester complete the package.

Key Features

  • Grain Engine with up to 64 grains
  • 12 main controller for easy handling
  • Harvester: Innovative modulation system
  • Freeze, Stutter, Glitch, Texturize
  • Multiband transient detector
  • Host sync and transient clock
  • 16 step trigger sequencerLP, BP, HP, Band Reject filters
  • HQ reverb, spring reverb, shimmer, delay, flanger, chorus
  • Complex dry/wet envelope
  • Modulation system with countless random functions
  • Morph between Harvester and modulation

What Graindad Can Do

With up to 64 grains Graindad offers extensive possibilities to define your sound in realtime. With 12 main parameters, quick and powerful access to granular synthesis is provided.

There are basically 2 modulation systems: a classical system with modulators like step sequencers, lfo, & envelope, for familiar access. And a modulation system called Harvester, which provides an easy and playful way to control multiple parameters at once in a visual manner. These two modulation systems can then be mixed for uniquely complex results.

Randomization is a big part of Graindad – varying amounts of randomization can be applied to nearly every parameter. Furthermore, there are dedicated functions to define when randomization should be generated, for example, a transient in your audio signal can trigger a randomizer.

Grain Engine

The heart of Graindad is the Grain Engine. While audio is being recorded, it can simultaneously be played back up to 64 times via so-called grains. Organising and defining these grains is the core task of the engine.

The 12 main parameters provide the power to achieve various effects like looping, stuttering, time stretching, pitch shifting, reversing, or harmonizing.

As important as the playback is, recording also plays a huge role in defining the overall result. Graindad can record in sync to your host clock or be triggered directly via MIDI. It can even dynamically start recording depending on transients in your audio material.

Modulation Engine

In addition to envelope, LFO and a classic step sequencer with step repeat, the Harvester, various randomizers and MIDI notes can be used as modulation sources.

Even the intensity and source of modulation can be controlled by randomizers, and can do so in different modes.

Not to forget the Modmix Control, which crossfades between the Harvester and Main Page modulation for surprising results.

Effects

Whether it’s classic effects like filters, reverbs, and delays, Graindad’s effects section has everything you need in order to add a new dimension to your sound. Filter types include lowpass, bandpass, band reject and highpass. Choose between three reverb effects: HQ reverb, spring reverb and shimmer. The delay section offers not only different delay types, but also flanger and chorus modes.

Dry/Wet controls make it easy to blend filter sweeps into the image or use the bandpass as a peaking EQ to emphasise certain frequencies.

The Harvester

The Harvester modulates all 12 main controls at once. The distance between the Harvester and parameter objects defines the modulation depth. The parameter objects have “moons” that can be recorded as automation or randomized for additional layers of motion. On the Auto-Pilot Page, the Harvester can move between 12 breakpoints, which can also be triggered by MIDI notes for performative control.

The power of the Harvester is hard to put into words. Hours of fun and surprises, and endless sonic possibilities await. Of course, there are many more features that are explained in detail in the manual.

Sounds & Presets

Graindad comes with hundreds of presets from our best sound designers. All presets were meticulously crafted and created with love.

Melting all the feedback into one sentence: “Graindad is an endless source of inspiration, one little sample can turn into a million of things.”

“Graindad’s Granular Engine is so refined and sounds top notch. Add to that insane deep and creative modulation capabilities and then add the excellent sounding post effects like Reverb, Delay and more, and then knowing everything can be CRAZY Modulated with such ease makes it a powerhouse package, an absolute must for amazing granular and unique creative effects.” Embray Designs

“I haven’t run across a granular processor quite like this before. To me, it blurs the line between effect and instrument, which has taken me on many unexpected journeys. As a granular enthusiast I wouldn’t want to be without Graindad in my toolkit.” Quinn Zender

“Graindad impressed me. It has a clear vision, it’s helpful both for live and studio people, it packs a lot of fun and a lot of punch – if you’re willing to learn, understand, embrace the true power of granular.” Vospi

“The most refreshing way to give your samples a new life.” Miclop

A Surprisingly Versatile Tool
Obscurium animates you to explore new paths to creation of music & sound design. Like a modular system, it allows for most complex circuits, yet remains easily accessible.

It will change your process of making music, to a fun and playful state of flow and you’ll come up with patch after patch of cool melodic and chordal passages that intiate new tracks. Never mind the possibilities of the VST synth integration!

If you are sound designing for films, adverts or games, if you are looking for a fresh short cut to your creative cloud, give it a go!

Obscurium’s Scope can only be Matched by very Large and Costly Modular Setups
The two sound generators are deceptively basic looking. Number 1 is an emulation of an analogue oscillator with a unison functionality. The second oscillator uses FM synthesis with a flexible ratio. Both can be routed through the effect section and you can mix and modulate them via the sequencer. Ask Audio’s Quick Tip

The Super Obscure Mode automatically draws sequences in most various ways. The Modifiers paint all parameters at once: while setting individual steps you can define their sound. Step by step a different sound – this is the agenda here.

Resurrect your library of Long-Forgotten Plug-ins
You can host any of your sound generator plug-ins for fresh sounds. Obscurium sends trigger, pitch and 11 automation lanes. Take your plug-ins to new levels!

Setting this up couldn’t be easier – pick any of the plug-in’s presets, use a random mode to assign parameters or use the Learn function in Obscurium’s hosting options.

The More you Play, the More you Discover
We implemented the unique possibility to rotate parameters and their motion lanes. Organic and complex sound changes just blossom around you with a tender touch of these faders. This feature can be modulated for endless evolving results.

Additionally, you can morph between two sequencer states (copy and paste between the two states is very useful!). That makes it possible to vary parts of a sequence while it repeats.

Obscure Clock

A Warp Drive to the new Dimension of Sequencing
The clock tab regulates the master speed, swing & direction. Combine its 2 mini sequencers for clock and direction with the main sequencer for finestcolourfull rhythm tapestry.

Sequencer steps can be assigned to MIDI notes, playback speed and direction might change at any time. A different sound for each note of a melody and tumbling rhythms, rolls and triplets, ready to be explored.

Sounds & Presets
An instrument with a mind-boggling scope…

  • Rummage around in these sounds…They give a pretty good idea of what Obscurium is capable of. Better yet: check out the demo – the modulated presets are a feast for ear and eye
  • The presets are a good inspiration and starting point for your own ideas. Obscurium invites you to experiment!

  • 21 Filter Types
  • LFO, Env.-Follower, Step Seq. & Wobble
  • Non Aliasing
  • Distortion with 3 Overdrives & 4 Digital Functions
  • Distortion Pre- or Post Filter Units
  • Envelope Follower with Frequency Detection
  • 9 Human vocal Sounds in Vowel Filter
  • Dynamic Oversampling across the board
Designed for Best Harmonics & Audio Quality All 21 filters produce a stunning analogue sound with huge resolution and free of any aliasing. From singing Comb to a steep 8-pole Lowpass from dirty Diode MS to the gnarly 030. WOW2 offers all the filters you can wish for. And all of them work in Vowel Mode, showing off the wide variety of humanoid sounds. The extraordinary modulation system multiplies the possibilities to modular level: for instance with modulatable modulators. The presets are a good place to start. Or try a steep 8-pole LP on a bass sound and taste that bubbly, smacking sound. WOW’s Talkbox lets you Pick any two Vowels out of a Choice of Nine Swing the cutoff between two vowels to create formant-shaping effects on your dry signal. Modulate the cutoff (or the selected vowels themselves…) for distinct chorus and flanger effects. Works best with Comb or Bandpass combined on high resonance settings! The vowels are: [i:] as in seat, [e] as in hen, [æ] as in fat, [y] as in tu (French), [ə] as in the, [ɑ] as in father, [ɔ] as in awe, [o] as in copy, and [u] as in boot. The Real Magic Happens When Modulation Steps in There are four sources: an envelope follower with frequency detection, the LFO with 13 waveforms, a 16-step step sequencer and the Wobble Knob (lifted from our Cyclop synth). Targets and intensity (bi-polar) are assigned in the circular elements at the foot of the modulation section – or you just right-click any parameter and assign a source – couldn’t be easier. Pushing the Mod Section to Extremes This is a different beast compared to the other modulators. The central knob controls two things: the shape of the LFO (16 different waveforms) while also changing the speed (12 tempo-synced rates). The knob can be modulated itself (pick the LFO for a start) and this is what the wobble control is all about: to get that knob moving! Fourfold Oversampling for harmonic Manipulation without Aliasing Seven algorithms can be engaged before or after the filter section, which greatly broadens the sonic range. Pick the tube-inspired “Parabolic”, the delicately-chiselled “Bit Crusher”, a Sine(!) or “Diabolic” from digital hell. Volume is stable even at high levels, which will save you cumbersome automation when things get rather dynamic. Sounds & Presets Everything from subtle filter sweeps to all-out modulated chaos:
  • WOW2 comes with more than 250 presets…just one click away. Randomize for instant inspiration!
  • Try it now! You’re in good company: Skrillex, Boyz Noise, SiriusMo & Modeselektor.

Turnado

The Ultimate Audio-Mangler

Keep it simple! Turnado comes with 8 knobs, each firing up an effect and varying it with their dial. It invites play and experimentation with one or several effects.

Customize 24 effects in expert mode. If you want it even more compact: in Dictator Mode, you can control all 8 effects simultaneously with a single fader.

Remix Digital Audio

Re-Interpret Existing Material

Describing Turnado as a multi-effects processor perhaps doesn’t capture the essence of what it’s about. You can use reverb and delay in a subtle way – but what makes it very different from a conventional multi-effects unit is the combination of effects types available and its real-time control options.

The GUI is clutter free with bright and clean graphics. Open it up, and you’ll instantly understand the concept.

Turnado is rock solid and light on CPU, if you plan to use it in a live performance or, say, in a dozen instances simultaneously.

The World’s Most Controllable Effect

Maximum Transparency with as few Controls as Possible

As a plug-in in the studio or on stage, Turnado will prove as a surprisingly versatile tool while its operation is cast into a bare minimum of controls.

If you’re not an octopus, the “Dictator” is probably a feature of interest: this fader provides a unique way of controlling multiple knobs with just one slide. Here you can set up for each knob, when and how much to be rotated.

You can of course automate all controls in Turnado. Or, if you’re looking for a more natural approach, remote-control them via MIDI.

Turnado in the Beardytron 5000 mkII

Building Beardyman’s Ultimate Live-Production System

What Beardyman dreamt about doing couldn’t be done: Technology simply couldn’t keep up with his demands. To pull off his sets the way he wanted, he spent six years and $30,000 building a complex live setup: Beardytron 5000 mkII.

For Beardyman, the name of the game is being able to control things like high- and low-pass filtering, build-ups and drops, and muting and unmuting of channels in real-time with just two hands: “Without having Turnado, there would be literally no way for me to do it.”

A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing

Turnado is Deep if you Choose to Dive Deeper

When you open up one of the effects’ edit panels, you quickly begin to realise how powerful Turnado really is. With the ability to tweak five different parameters, the degree of control available is staggering.

Each of these five knobs can be tied to the main-screen knob, which is what gives them the magic! If you want some hands-off automation as well, each slot has two LFOs/step sequencers and an envelope follower that can be used to modulate. These can be assigned to any effect parameter.

Dynamic Signal Flow

The Art of Routing

There are two options when it comes to routing the signal through the effects: going through each in series (from bank 1-8) or Dynamic Signal Flow mode, where it follows the order in which each effect is activated.

Setting up the order of effects is an art in itself – and the ability to swap effects by dragging one onto another allows you to quickly audition how a different order can have a drastic effect on the overall sound.

This can also be handy if, for example, you always want a reverb to come last in a chain regardless of when it’s active.

Sounds & Presets

Crafted for massive real-time audio Manipulation:

  • With its instantaneous, one-knob, multi-parameter modulation features, Turnado will lay waste to the audio landscape. Giving you the power to crunch, chop, twist, mash and elevate your music to new levels, Turnado will have you creating wicked new sounds that will blow any crowd away.
  • With instant access to eight effects and immediate control over key parameters, Turnado is guaranteed to cause devastation on the dance floor, shredding beats and crunking breaks to insane proportions.

Consequence

Anything but Inconsequential

Consequence is an arpeggiator, which creates a sequence of notes based on the chords that you provide. Up to 3 instruments can be loaded up, and a vast number of sequencing options can be used to control the way that the plug-in “interprets” your input.

Chord-Sequencer and Arpeggiator

A Simple Concept, with Tons of Scope for Creativity

The chord sequencer is the centrepiece of the creative flow. It’s basically choosing from a palette of 16-chord “snapshots” you define in the Chord memory section at the bottom. There are actually 5 sequencers controlling different aspects of the groove you’re creating. The Modulation section is especially deep, offering separate patterns for each of the synth parts, the filter and the effects.

The sample-based sound library contains all kinds of instruments – from powerful analogue synths to subtle violins, each offering Octave, Pan, Level and Crush controls. You can choose a trigger mode for each instrument independently, so it becomes possible to create more complex sequences by having some instruments triggered as chords and others as arps.

High Level of User Control

A Musician’s eye for Detail…

Consequence allows for a detailed definition of all the sonic aspects on a step-by-step basis: “Arp” or “Chord”, “Octave” or “Tie”. With detailed control over the Arp-direction, you can create melodies with a narrow focus.

Like the rhythm of one preset, but the sound set from another? No problem! No matter how you save your presets, sequences and sounds can be switched out independently to give you other options to expand your presets further.

Sound Collection

Sample Library with 800 MB Content in 15 Categories & 222 Sound Presets

Consequence’s sound library not only includes sounds of the most sought-after synths like the Memorymoog or the OP-1, there’s also plenty of strings and percussion. String passages are crafted fast and impressive. By combining the 3 instruments, it’s easy to create interlaced rhythms with the oddest sounds.

Besides an ADSR, each instrument holds an “Age” and “Crush” control: With these two, say goodbye to “Samples always sound so sterile!”

MIDI Output on VST & AAX

Control External MIDI Devices and Plug-ins

Consequence is not limited to the internal sound library: if you wanna combine with other generators, it is possible to use the MIDI out to trigger hardware or software synths, which opens up a lot of possibilities. There’s also the MIDI Export: just drag and drop to your host or save as a file.

The final stage of the Consequence sound section is the master section which offers tuning features, a fine master compressor and a kickdrum which plays a 4/4 rhythm. The kickdrum is a friendly helper to keep the groove while you are creating sequences, also it can be sent to the compressor exclusively to glue the mix together or let the level drop at each quarter note.
