Felt 54

FELT 54 is an intimate felt piano with character, it’s not the conventional bright and harmonically complex upright piano.

Stereo sampled from a felt customized upright Yamaha U3 1975 that has been modified in a way that makes the tone more pure, yet preserves its harmonic richness. A 0.8mm felt strip was added between the hammers and strings, and the middle section’s tone of the piano was simplified by muting 2 out of 3 strings per note. The instrument was captured by 3 microphones resulting in a very intimate stereo image.

FELT 54 covers a range of 54 notes, the sweet spot range of this particular piano.

Overview

  • 3 EQ Knobs (Low,Mid,High)
  • Intimate room reverb
  • Tape Delay (Synced Time, Feedback, Send Level)
  • Pedal noise and key release noise levels
  • a Special TAPE module with 3 knobs (Analogue Tape Hiss, Saturation intensity, Flutter intensity)

FELT 54 is ideal for Ambient music and Melancholic film scores, as well as LO-FI hip-hop music with the Tape settings driven up.

Fabrikator

Product Overview

Building on the strengths of Konstruktor, and keeping with the ethos of raw, unpolished percussive sound, Fabrikator explores the texture and motion of acoustic-synthetic sounds colored with convolution.

The task was to design distinctive synthesized percussion that would complement the new acoustic palette while offering fresh material for the convolution engine: sounds and textures that would react in new and unexpected ways.

Different design and mixing methods were applied to produce nine categories of synthetic percussion: over 200 multi-articulation sample instruments in total. Sound treatments include valve and fuzz-wah filters, frequency disintegration and granulation, harmonic and digital distortion, and pitch/time and modulation effects.
Fabrikator offers a rhythmic sound palette and convolution engine with practically endless combinations.

PUSHING RHYTHM DESIGN

New convolution impulses bring the total to almost 400, including vinyl/radio/tape/digital noise and static, particulate and granular effects, digital and acoustic sound effects, frequency modeling, mic effects and chorusing, stereo imaging, and new, pitch-based impulses for adding harmonic interest to rhythms.

With Fabrikator’s totally new sample content, the aim was to shape and control the interaction between convolution impulses and more dynamic textural material. What new rhythmic possibilities might emerge? Going beyond frequency modulation, panning, and spectral effects, this is a new direction for generating rhythmic sound treatments from sample content.
Packed with this kit builder are 72 beautifully constructed kits, ranging from big, deep hip-hop/downtempo kits to dirty, hyperactive electronic/hybrid kits. Now with multi-out capability.

TEXTURE AND MOTION

Fabrikator pushes the concept of a hybrid drum designer and kit builder in ever more creative directions. An all-new sound palette of custom-designed acoustic and synthetic percussion for generating fresh, dynamic rhythms—with a deep focus on texture, motion, and spatial elements.

CONVOLUTION COLORS

Sculpt each kit slot with convolution: almost 400 custom-designed impulses that color, shape, and spatialize every nuance of frequency and texture. Create deep, echoing kicks, dynamic, resonating snares, shimmering, syncopated hi-hats. Bitclutter, Humfuzz, Echoglitz, Monoflak…

ROBOT OR HUMAN?

Control the amount of randomization that is applied to velocity and quantization—separately for each kit slot. Make those snares and hi-hats extra trashy. And with 6 round-robin layers for every articulation, even fully synthetic kits can find a new groove. Let those kits run loose.

PERFORMANCE CONTROL

Adjustments to tuning, sample start points, decay envelopes, and sample width can be used to control how different convolution impulses color an instrument. Fabrikator is multi-out capable: kit slots can be routed to separate output channels for automation control and 3rd party plugins.

FILTER CONTROL

Each of the 7 kit slots has three dedicated, independently selectable lowpass, bandpass, and highpass filters, each with dedicated cutoff and resonance knobs for on-the-fly switching. Filtering offers another way to control how convolution impulses color the sound.

SMART RANDOMIZATION

A powerful kit-building tool, this feature preserves the kit’s performance controls and offers three randomization modes: sample banks only, convo choices only, or both. With two temporary memory slots for comparing new combos, tailor settings then save a snapshot of your new kit.

FEATURES

  • 3,918 Stereo 48kHz/24bit samples
  • 491 Instruments
  • 394 Custom-designed convolution impulse responses
  • 7 Independently controllable drum kit slots
  • 6 Round-robin layers for every articulation
  • Separate LP/BP/HP filters with dedicated cutoff/resonance controls for each kit slot
  • 72 Factory Kits

Aleatoric Keys

Aleatoric Keys is an inspirational tool for producers covering a vast variety of genres.

Aleatoric Keys uses sounds from synthesizers and real life recordings and seamlessly morphs them together to form a new era of inspiring sounds. Sound categories include bass, keys & strings, synths, pads and FX, but the individual sounds cover most categories from natural wind instruments to synthesized brass. Having the modern producer in mind, Aleatoric Keys is meant to be the workhorse tool for that “nasty lead” or the “mass” layer for EDM lead synth or pads. Now you can save time to get that unique sound and no more programming of trance leads or pads. Our powerful engine allows you to have a full sound quicker than using regular workflow or you can let it generate some quick and unique ideas using the “randomise” tool. With the sound of Aleatoric Keys you will stand out, which is massively important in the modern world.

The Aleatoric Keys engine is easy to use, but can give rich and complex outcomes. Aleatoric Keys contains four individually adjustable sample sources, each housing an abundance of fully modulatable parameters. The “Source Movement” & “Filter Movement” manipulation pads make your score or come alive and move with the picture.

Aleatoric Keys is a tool only utilizing new sounds that you cannot get anywhere else. Many natural sounds come from synthesized sources and emulate classical instruments, but also, many natural sounds turn into synthesizers.

To make your life easier, many individual sounds come in premixed, so that you can save time making them unique to your mix.

Included Samples & Snapshots

The 160 included instruments range from reinnovated classid EPianos, to gritty bass, ambient pads and soundscapes, EDM and re-envisioned classic synths, Winds and FX. Consequently, Aleatoric Keys were designed for cinematic material, but can be used as an expressive layer in most genres of music. Make your cue or soundtrack unique or add layers of juicy synths with Aleatoric Keys.

The best of what Aleatoric Keys has to offer is available for auditioning right out of the box; with the 112 categorized Snapshots. They are handily divided into “Bass”, “Keys & Strings”, “Pads”, “Synths” & “FX” subgroups for exceptionally efficient sound spectrum fillment. Each snapshot is easily adaptable, making it simple to modify into the perfect sound.

Four Flexible Sample Sources

The four sound sources allow you to layer sounds from “Bass”, “FX”, “Keys”, “Leads”, “Natural”, “Pad”, “Winds” & “Xtra”. Together they will produce an inspiring starter or a progressive continuation to your music.

The controls on each sound source allow you to tailor the sound to your project’s needs, thus making them extremely effective. These include EQ, Envelope & Filter to mix your sounds and make them unique.

Source Movement’ Manipulation Pad

One of Aleatoric Keys most defining features, the “Source Movement” Manipulation Pad permits for unrivalled control over the four sound source gain dynamics. Continually shifting the focus of your key or pad layers, the produced sound will come to life and tell a story for characters on the screen. You can easily change how the sounds mix with each other with the onboard controls and tailor the result to your specific needs.

Filter Movement’ Manipulation Pad

By allowing for the modulation of the filter cutoff frequency and resonance of each audio source independently, ultimate control over the timbre of each layer is now possible. This control over tonal dynamics massively increases possible sound outcomes for interesting and unique sound. When combined with the already impressive freedom of the “Source Movement” Pad, the possibilities truly are infinite.

Edit Modulation’ Menu

Like “Trails” and “AMM” Aleatoric Keys has four LFO’s and four ADSR Envelopes with various Sound Source parameters to choose from. Whether you want control in your hands of how the sound moves and behaves or you want to be surprised by the Randomise function, these tools are there to add dynamic character to your sounds.

Nine Included Effects Units

The nine built-in effects can be used to further mix the sounds or add crazy flavours. Whether you want to thicken up the sound, add distortions or widen your sound, these effects are extremely useful tools at your service.

Edit Randomise’ Page

Randomisation can spark infinite ideas and get a new track started, so we made sure that the randomising engine changes parameters and values that make the most inspirational sense. The randomisation menu puts control in your hands, so you can choose what you would like to change on a sound.

DS-2500

Seiko DS250 – A strange and extremely rare Additive synthesiser from the 1980’s and used by J.M Jarre on his Rendezvous album.

The DS250 has a set of presets built into it and it allows for you to stack two presets by pressing a dual function key to select layer 1 and layer 2; it is a little awkward pressing these buttons, so our version just has two sets of 16 preset select buttons which is much easier.

The D-250 relies on some form of additive synthesis to create its sound and produces tones that are not clean and pristine, but instead have a wonderful earthy, organic and grainy sound that have bags of character.

After searching for many years to find one of these illusive keyboards I was immediatly struck by its great set of presets, but I thought it was let down by not being velocity sensitive – So that was the first thing we added to Castle Instruments version. I also thought it could benefit from resonant filters, so we added those and also added velocity modulation to allow control of the Filter Cutoff and resonance; this really added so much expression to the sounds. We also added multiple filter types which can be selected from the filter menu on the interface.

We also added controllable ADSR for amp and filter, Hi-Pass filters, and MIDI syncable LFO’s; all of these extra features take the sounds way beyond what can be achived with just the hardware synth. Of course our version has the original sounds from the hardware DS-250 and we created the factory presets for you in the preset folder, but it is great to be able to go way beyond what the hardware can do and explore new sounds – sort of like if Seiko had added all these new features to their original hardware.

Our version also has two random patch generators – one for each preset layer which makes it easy to throw some chaos theory into your patch creation and just hit randomise until you get something you like.

Also included is a full effects section including: Chorus, Phaser, Flanger, Tape saturation/warmth, Reverbs, MIDI syncable Delays and an arpeggiator.

The Castle Instruments DS-2500 is great for taking a journey into the strange and digital world of additive sounds and textures who’s roots are firmly entwined in the original sounds from the DS-250 hardware and comes with 100 presets and 30 MULTI’s to get you started.

Features:

  • 110 Presets
  • 30 Multis
  • Randomisation System
  • 2 Layers (16 Voices per Layer)
  • 41 Filters with LFO
  • Arpeggiator
  • 7 Global Effects

Stigmata

Complex Worlds

Inspired by modular synthesis, Stigmata is an instrument capable of producing rich and complex soundscapes. Designed as a true sound creation tool, Stigmata features numerous modulations and treatments particularly adapted to the staging of melodic ambiances.

A recognizable element of the interface, it is the complete and complex filtering that is in the spotlight with Stigmata. Those familiar with modular systems will be familiar with the technique of using multiple filters together to achieve a richness of harmonic content.

Stigmata incorporates this technique and makes it a central part of the performance. With tempo-synchronised modulations and variations particularly suited to creating melodic moods, Stigmata lacks nothing and should be a real inspiration to you.

Easy to Handle

Stigmata incorporates four polyphonic sources that reproduce layering techniques, each with sufficient controls to place them in space, adjust their character and modulate them dynamically and continuously.

The organisation of the instrument is simple: there are five categories of controls. Modulations allow you to determine the strength and speed with which sounds are modified. Variations offer alterations to each source in real time. Modulations and Variations work with Macros, grouped controls, while the middle section houses a set of filters combined around a common control, stereo width adjustment and infinite sustain to hold notes played without the need to keep your hands on the keyboard.

Simple and effective but not simplistic!

Seurat

Seurat is the first instrument to use our AGRA engine (Advanced Grain Recombination Architecture).

Essentially this is a highly-customisable granular synthesis engine, used across the two complementary voices.

Seurat allows you to manipulate the normal granular controls – grain size, grain frequency, attack and release of each grain and sample position but also adds a range of additional parameter controls for things like grain gain (volume), grain position variation (movement), the space between grains and the symmetry of grain positions in the audio flow offering a range of interesting and often unique outcomes.

Seurat offers an unconventional collection of sounds for movie scoring and sound design.

Seurat uses our powerful AGRA engine (Advanced Grain Recombination Architecture). Essentially this is a highly-customisable granular synthesis engine, Seurat allows you to manipulate the normal granular controls – grain size, grain frequency, attack and release of each grain and sample position but adds a range of additional parameter controls for things like grain gain(volume), grain position (movement), the space between grains and the symmetry of grain position in the audio flow offering a range of interesting and often unique outcomes.

Seurat comes with 707 Samples, 81 Selectable Sound Sources and 175 snapshots, each grouped into separate folders for ease of access.

Included Instruments

Here are some of the instruments and recording techniques used in the creation of Seurat:

Violin

  • Mesh fabric fastened flush to the bow, creating a gritty, broken sound (used for a variety of “articulations” such as tremolo and harmonics)
  • Felt fabric fastened near the bridge to create a softened/muted sound (most notably for “Soft Violin” but other sounds as well)
  • Attaching metal and other materials to the strings to achieve a different sound (“paperclip violin”)
  • and more….

Electric Guitar/Acoustic Guitar

  • Home-made soft guitar picks or soft “found” material for the normal picked sounds
  • Felt fabric and other fabrics used to mute guitar harmonics
  • A technique used for the “moving” plucked and harmonic sounds was to move where I was plucking the string in order to create a different tone across the time of the sample
  • Isolating and amplifying reverb tails
  • Notes generated only from vibrating the strings with the left hand and fingers, no plucking (“ghost guitar”)
  • Notes generated only from a hammeron and then turning the volume knob up (“volumation”)
  • and more…

Bass Guitar

  • Normal bowed
  • Mesh fabric bowed (similar to the violin, but not as “tonal”)
  • Bowed in a “sweet spot” near the bridge in order to create a gritty, harmonic-like, dark sound (these are the “Gritty Harmonic” sounds)

Piano

  • Muted pedal sustain (pretty basic)
  • Muted on and off with fabric (at the strings) while rapidly pressing the keys
  • Muted pedal sustain pressing keys rapidly with a varying degree of dynamics
  • Live performance of rapidly playing different intervals (octaves and whole tones, “octave etude” and “debussy’s dream” respectively)
  • And more…

Mandolin

  • Bowed
  • Multiple strings tuned to same note and plucked together (“mandolin unison plucked”)
  • Basic pluck with a home-made “cardboard” pick
  • Fidget spinner
  • And more…

Ukulele

  • “flamenco” style plucked –using 4 fingers and rapidly plucking the same string
  • “brushing” notes with felt fabric

The Sequencers in Fameboy are small but very powerful offering many functions for creating unique and interesting patterns. Once you have a sequence you can easily export the midi pattern to your host using drag ‘n’ drop!

Each Sequence can hold up to 8 unique patterns and each pattern can be triggered on-the-fly using keyswitches!

Snapshots

Snapshots are the easiest and most efficient way of loading and saving presets within Kontakt. FAMEBOY comes with a vast selection of snapshots ready to use. Please go to the snapshots folder inside your product folder and locate the folder named [Fame Boy] then copy that folder to your user content folder.

Fameboy comes with a selection of sound design and sequencer presets from our good friend and talented producer Si Begg.

Tape Drive

The Tape Drive pages offer a full set of controls to emulate classic tape degredation effects to add an authentic layer of analog grit to your drums

El Dorado Master Guitars

El Dorado Master Guitars has been created to give you the widest variety of sounds possible on a electric guitar.

Tremolo, trills, harmonics and much more, plus 44 different pads in which a lot of other techniques have been used to create them. The result is a workhorse library that will provide you with a lot of the electric guitar sounds that you will need for your productions.

Key Features

  • A wide selection of twenty different articulations.
  • Over forty carefully created pads.
  • The inclusion of DI signals for all articulations.
  • Up to 8 round robins.
  • Stereo mode so you don’t have to duplicate tracks.

DI Signals
The library also includes all previous articulations in DI version. This expands the possibilities even further, allowing you to completely change the sound of the library, making it even more versatile.

UI
As you can see, the variety of sounds available is enormous, for this reason, it is presented in an easy and intuitive user interface that will make it easy for you to work with all these sounds.

Pads
The pads are a very important part of this instrument, the same detail, time and care has been dedicated to creating them as any of the other articulations available in the library. With them you can obtain all kinds of ambient sounds perfect to complement the more traditional articulations. To create them, a large amount of new material has been recorded as well as material from the traditional articulations has been processed with different effects and techniques, resulting in a collection of 44 pads.

Articulations

Among the articulations recorded for this library we can find all kinds of sounds.

Various types of sustains played with pick or with fingers, more percussive sounds such as harmonics or mutes recorded with two different guitars, four different types of tremolo techniques, swells, four types of trills or sustains played with an EBow.

In addition, the shorter articulations have up to eight round robins so you can create all types of rhythms without suffering from the machine gun effect.
