We decoded and analyzed a vintage electric piano sinewaves spectrum for every note and every velocity, and recreated it manually. When you play a note on Markus, the exact same sound for the original instrument will be generated (no samples involved)

And we did it manually. Every single harmonic was tuned by ear. Like in acoustic piano tuning, the final touch is always made manually, and no tuning software or algorithm is able to replace that.

DECODING THE ELECTRIC PIANO GENOME

Every sound in nature is a complex spectrum of harmonics. The combination of those harmonics makes every sound unique and easy to be identified by humans. Doing the reverse engineering for finding the harmonics that makes a tine-based electric piano sound like a tine-based electric piano is a complex task. We disassembled tine-based electric piano timbre into the minimal parts a sound can be split. And reassembled into a fully expressive virtual instrument.

We redesigned the entire harmonic spectrum and behaviors. Bells are more natural, low range is darker and overall velocity responses were improved.

A very playable electric piano in its own right

Tines emulates an electric piano. With internal effects like a stereo tremolo, a multiband distortion panel, and a subtle roomy reverb, Tines can sound like anything between a dreamy slick Rhodes to a nasty Wurlitzer (however, it is not designed to be a ”vintage” emulation, but a modern and playable instrument).

A fine-tuned velocity curve makes Tines a true joy to play on a MIDI keyboard.

• 1. Wobble Depth / Wobble Speed – Sets how each note should vibrate dynamically (like a Tremolo but on each note).
• 2. Phase / Decay – Controls the phase offset between the left and right output channels. Decay sets a note’s decay time.
• 3. 3-band EQ – If you need more, rearrange your song.
• 4. Fresh air – A well-balanced room reverb + stereo spread.

Sierras Altas 2 is an instrument plugin designed with cinematic, inspiring, and ambient sounds.

Its dual-layer engine processes a collection of 69 layers, including pads, keys, strings, and synths, allowing an extensive array of sound possibilities.

Dual-Layer Engine

Sierras Altas 2 features a dual-layer engine, granting you the ability to autonomously blend the 69 layers and produce distinctive combinations. The volume control for each layer is managed through a central XY pad, providing precision and creativity in layer blending. Dual Arpeggiator

Sierras Altas 2 introduces a new feature: the dual arpeggiator. Each layer has its own independent arpeggiator, enabling you to create unique and captivating sequences for each part of the instrument. With Sierras Altas 2, you can explore a wide range of rhythmic patterns and melodic variations by customizing the settings of each arpeggiator.

Presets

Sierras Altas 2 includes 89 presets created from combinations of layers, effects, and arpeggiators. These presets are categorized into five groups: 18 atmospheric pads, 17 chill sounds, 21 inspiring pads, 20 sequences, and 14 thriller sounds.

FX and features

The instrument offers a variety of effects such as saturation, reverb, delay, chorus, and filters. You can use these effects on each layer independently or activate the link button to apply them together

It also incorporates XY Pad filters, allowing you to experiment with new depths and textures, particularly with the pads. Furthermore, it features a multiband graphic equalizer that enables you to fine-tune the frequency spectrum and achieve a balanced mix.

To prevent undesirable distortions, address volume variations, and enhance the sense of spaciousness and sound depth, master racks for limiter, compression, and stereo width adjustments are included.

Sound FX

Sierras Altas 2 also includes the “Sierras Altas 2 Sound FX” sample pack, which features 36 audio effects such as impacts, explosions, and transitions. Previously, in Sierras Altas 1, these samples were part of the instrument, but in the second version, they are provided as a separate sample pack.

Glassy is an electric piano module inspired by the lovely digital-electric piano sounds from the late ’80s and ’90s. Recreated by spectral modelling and offering 20 studio-quality Digital Pianos in just 35MB.

There’s no ’90s without these sounds. And Sampleson brought them back in a studio-grade virtual instrument, using a different approach.

Most of the Digital Electric Pianos were made upon FM and additive-like synthesis. Sampleson used spectral modelling to recreate a create those unique timbres and to propose some new ones.

Glassy was built using spectral modelling. In some way it’s related with additive synthesis method. Sampleson used spectral models to recreate famous sounds and to introduce new ones. With a detailed control of the harmonics over the keyboard range.

Suitcase Electric Piano

Sampleson have extracted the Suitcase 73’s DNA and packed it into a 35MB virtual instrument.

Suit73 is the most detailed emulation Sampleson have created so far. Presenting the second generation of Sampleson’s spectral modelling engine (DNAudio 2.0) allowing them to create realistic and warm emulations.

Suit73 was made upon spectral modelling. A technique providing realistic sounds since it’s based on real samples and not mathematical approaches like physical modelling.

It sounds real because it is real: sound is created the same way it’s in nature (stacking simple sinewaves together). This is why it feels organic and warm.

Sampleson mapped more than 64 groups of timbre components (releases, bells, key noises, main timbre, resonance, etc) and recreated them by spectral modelling. Archiving a realistic and warm sound in just 35MB and very low CPU usage.

The Loft Piano is an exquisitely sampled upright grand piano. Sampled in, you guessed it, a loft. It’s a perfect Kontakt piano for a wide range of genres. We love using it for bedroom pop (Billie Eilish vibes anyone?) as well as Future Bass, House, Hip Hop, and of course, Film Score. ​

We wanted to create a piano that is part character and part studio. Most piano plugins or piano Kontakt libraries are either one or the other.

Character pianos often only work in a limited range of songs while the more versatile pianos can sound stale and boring. ​

The Loft Piano for Kontakt can be either. It comes with 5 Snap Shots for Kontakt so you can easily access 5 distinct and unique versions of the piano. We’ve also created a soft patch as a bonus to the main sound.

Exquisitely sampled

We used two large diaphragm condenser microphones (Nuemann UI 87) and two pencil condensers to capture the source recordings. Over 1,500 samples.

RARE VIRTUAL ELECTRIC PIANO

The recreation of the rare and famous Hohner Eletra Piano T used by Led Zeppelin in “Stairway to Heaven”, “Misty Mountain Hop”, “No Quarter” and “Down by the Seaside”.

BETWEEN RHODES AND WURLITZER

Where it all begins. Hohner created The Electra Piano T in the early 70’s and was followed by other electric piano manufacturers. It uses forks strucked by hammers and electronically converts vibrations transmitted to a transistorised amplifier.

Sound can be described as a half-way between Rhodes and Wurlitzer, but with a vintage dirty touch .

THE RHODES BASS PIANO

Late in the 60’s Fender Rhodes released the bass version for his Rhodes Piano. Bass Piano was used on many records and live shows.

Equipped with the same tines and pickups system you can find on a regular Rhodes MK1, the Piano Bass offers a deeper and warmer, with reinforced low frequencies.

WHAT EXACTLY IS SPECTRAL MODELING?

Every sound in nature can be split into simple sinewaves. From thunder to a trumpet. Spectral modeling is the technique to analyze and recreate sinewaves spectra to recreate the exact timbre and behavior of an instrument.

According to Julius O. Smith (Standford) Spectral modeling provides a sound representation much closer to the perception of sound by the brain because your ear and brain are in fact spectral decoders.
