FX
The effect section is a sound source in its own right. The Spacializer, a delay-based pitch resonator, can generate an additional synth layer per wave-guide synthesis.

Besides the typical specialities like Comb and Vowel, the Multi-Mode filter dishes up the super-evil Dirt HP/BP/LPs, that bubble over with spectral grit.

The Poly-Autopan, synced Delay, and our best Reverb yet, will add space and air to your precious audio produce.

Modulation
The sole focus of the modulation lies on the diversity of the 16 independent synth voices. As freely definable layers of sound, they will unfold a vast sonic biotope.

The Envelopes show off user-definable slopes, looping modes, and polyphonic parameter modulation. The dual Complex LFO brings along some specialities like FM, Gravitation, Oneshot, S+H/Quantize, and the beautifully chaotic Collision Mode.

The ARP is interwoven with the engine to pick, pluck and extract rhythmic and melodic structures.

A singing wavetable and granulating synth with lots of expression

Pipa is a singing vocal synth with a unique and different sound. It is inspired by the expression and flexibility of the human voice but does not aim to cover all the aspects of an actual voice. Instead, it focuses on an organic and musical sound where the user has the possibility to control formants and dynamics seamlessly.

The synth engine is a crossover between a wavetable- and a granulating synthesizer, which results in a very expressive and playable instrument. Instead of using ordinary samples or processing oscillators with formant filters, Pipa uses a large database of thousands of wavetables extracted from real vocal samples. The advantage of the technique being used is that it’s possible to seamlessly morph between wavetables with proper phase alignment. This enables Pipa to continuously make transitions between pitch, formants, and dynamics, which is very useful in a musical context.

The Sound of Thunder

The Lowdown Bass Synthesizer recreates the super-fat, room-rattling sounds of the most legendary dual-oscillator bass pedal synth ever made. Heard on countless prog-rock and new wave tracks in the 70s and 80s, this floor pedal monster comes to the desktop for the very first time. From the dual “constant-beat” oscillators to the girthy ladder filter, DSP wizard Mark Barton (MRB) has modeled every aspect of the original with exceptional accuracy. Get down to the ground with Lowdown!

Get the Lowdown

Outside of a handful of organ-oriented instruments, the original instrument was the first dedicated foot-controlled bass synthesizer, and with its colossal tone, unquestionably the best sounding. It was used by some of the top acts of 70s and 80s, including Rush, Yes, Genesis, U2, and The Police (check out the intro of “Don’t Stand So Close To Me” or Phil Collins’ “I Don’t Care Anymore.”)

The original design used a Hz/oct oscillator scaling (as opposed to the more conventional volts/oct oscillator scaling), allowing oscillator detuning amount to remain constant across the keyboard by minimizing the phase cancellation that can happen when two oscillators play simultaneously. Along with a couple of other engineering tricks, this contributes to its beefy sound.

In order to create Cherry Audio’s Lowdown, DSP and synthesis legend Mark Barton carefully analyzed the original’s synthesis circuits and precisely recreated them for a massive virtual bass experience like no other. We’re simply thrilled with the outcome of this fun and easy-to-use earth-moving bass experience and we hope you love it as much as we do!

Digital chaos, turbulent atmospheres and cyber sound effects; Abstract Energy contains predominantly atonal sounds and one-shots that can be used for designing rich abstract textures/atmospheres and sound effects for sci-fi and horror; such as robotic machinery and dystopian industries. In total there are 60 ‘oscillators’ and 50 ready-to-go presets.

Feedback Loops – Hard-hitting Feedback FX and Noise Textures

Distortion, feedback and noise; add a harsh or brutal dimension to your next music production. Feedback Loops contains everything from brutal feedbacking hits and FX, to atmospheric noise textures. Signal Interference – Noise Soundscapes

Create rich sonic environments with Signal Interference, a sample library of long hums, buzzes and static noise. It’s also great for layering with other instrumentation; either for sound effects or for atmospheric music. Most of the samples that make up Signal Interference are atonal, however, there are also some semi-tonal sounds that have been tuned to musical pitches and can be used to create intriguingly beautiful pads. Dreamstates – Dreamy and Nightmarish Atmospheres

Create otherworldly dream-like atmospheres with Dreamstates, an ambient sample library for Mirage. It features 120 samples, both multi-tone (chords) and single-tone, including sounds such as stretched-out swathes of noise, hazy, washed-out melodics, deep tension-invoking drones, unique transitions and Lo-Fi tones. As well as this, there are 50 production-ready presets which are made further playable by Mirage’s randomisation features. Dreamstates is perfect for scoring dream sequences, flashback scenes and for adding a sense of dreamy wonder to any genre of music.

Scare Tactics – Frightful Atmosphere Design

Scare Tactics is a collection of unsettling atonal textures, menacing drones, abstract hits, curious instruments and eerie transitions; providing all of the elements needed to construct convincingly creepy horror scenes full of dark ambience, jump scares and ominous presence. In total, there are 200 ‘oscillators’ as well as 50 production-ready presets.

At the core of Music Box Suite are 2 multi-sampled music boxes, both of which feature 4 round-robin. The first is the Victorian music box. This instrument has a warm antique tone. The second is the Tiny music box. This has a bright, sweet sound. By tastefully layering these 2 instruments, new compelling sounds can be made.

Included in Music Box Suite are a few of the winding-up sounds and the ‘whur’ of the music box device. These give you the option to create a fully realistic music box piece.

Organic sound design

This product features a collection of complimentary samples that are designed to work with the real music box samples. This expands Music Box Suite’s potential from more than just realistic music box emulation. The 40 included presets demonstrate this; there are keys, pads and ambient textures. These complimentary sounds are primarily morphed versions of real music box samples, however, there are also a few additional instruments such as a guitar pluck, a glockenspiel and synth strings.

Using Mirage’s simple interface, instruments can be layered, reversed, looped, tuned and distorted. This pairing of Music Box Suite’s samples inside Mirage’s engine results in a unique tool that is ideal for adding a charming melodic aspect to your track, whether it be an electronic piece or a cinematic one.

What is Mirage?

Mirage is our sample-based synthesis engine. It is a VST/AU synthesiser plugin that features a powerful set of controls for processing our custom sample libraries, such as Phoenix or Wraith (currently libraries can only be made with our internal tools).

Mirage is designed for rapid, flexible sound design and for ease-of-use.

A rack of built-in Effects

Another technique that sound designers use to shape the character of sounds is by applying effects. Mirage features a rack of such effects for this purpose. Built-in effects such as distortion, bit-crush, chorus and stereo widener can be used to enhance the sound with extra harmonics or extra simulated width.

The compressor can be used to control dynamics or add punch, and the filter can be used to isolate just the frequencies you need. Mirage also has reverb and delay effects for real space simulation. These are great for sound design too.

One of the reverb effects is a convolution reverb, this is typically used to add a real-sounding reverberation effect to the signal by using samples of real spaces (impulse responses). However, by substituting the sample of a real space with an abstract sample, interesting effects can be produced. Mirage features both realistic impulse responses and abstract ones for creative sound design.

Minimum friction from your mind to your DAW

Mirage is designed to not get in your way. It is fast to load up and is CPU efficient. It has a vector-based GUI that can be resized so that it will work on any size screen. The controls are laid out in an intuitive way, and a full description of what each control does can be viewed by hovering the mouse over it for a moment. Mirage also comes with a PDF user manual with all of the nitty-gritty details covered.

Create the Chaos

Generate is based on a set of chaotic generators. What initially looks like randomness contains underlying patterns, interconnectedness, constant feedback loops, repetition, self-similarity, fractals, and self-organization.

Each of Generate’s 5 chaotic generators brings out these underlying patterns and create an oscillator that can smoothly fade from a sine wave to total chaos, with an expanse of territory to explore in between. The musical textures created include distortion, harmonics, grunge, static, and noise. All of which can be predictably or unpredictably modulated.

Control the Chaos

Generate’s chaotic generators are routed through your choice of a Buchla wavefolder, or novel Animated or Fractal wavefolders, each adding unique overtones. Followed by a low pass gate inspired by the ideas of Don Buchla. These modules combine to create a versatile and musical voice with its own unique flavour.

Every parameter in Generate’s voice can be modulated by a combination of two Envelope Generators, two LFOs, a Sample and Hold/Random generator, an 8 Step Sequencer, and MIDI and MPE sources. Polyphonic Legend

Memorymode is based upon one of the very best-sounding polyphonic programmable analog synthesizers of the 80s – the legendary Memorymoog synthesizer.

Released in 1982, the Memorymoog raised the sonic bar with its lush, powerful analog sound. Memorymode expands upon the original without compromising any of the sound or functionality that made it great, and does away with the reliability, maintenance, and tuning issues of the original.

The user interface has been streamlined and simplified, updating the original instrument’s numeric-keypad-and-command-numbers with fast, simple-to-use pop-up menus and an improved value display window.

Memorymode delivers a one-two punch of huge tonality, with super-accurate replications of the original three-oscillator voice architecture and a precise implementation of the coveted ladder filter circuit.

Further contributing to its famous hefty sound, Memorymode’s oscillator mixer gently overdrives when levels are cranked, just like the original.

In addition to all of the voicing and modulation that made the original sound so great, we’ve added a number of creative and convenient features aimed at modern music makers.

Memorymode’s LFO, arpeggio, and delay effects all feature one-button tempo sync, and filter and amplitude velocity sensitivity add a whole new layer of expressiveness.

A unique Drift parameter allows continuously variable adjustment of tuning accuracy, from perfectly in tune, to aged and loose, or anywhere in between, and the Modern button brings Memorymode into the present with fattened bass and sparkling highs.

Beyond the original

Besides the parameters you can find on the original 303, there are also a bunch of knobs that most of you know and love from popular mods and circuit bends within the 303 community.

Vibrato novelty

You won’t find this in even the most twisted 303 modifications out there… vibrato effect. Used only by a handful of 303 artists in their work, and achieved in a unique way. The original trick uses a twonote tremolo which is smoothed by note sliding, resulting in a distinctive 303-style vibrato. Phoscyon 2 replicates this process in a more intuitive fashion so you can achieve the sound with just two knobs.

The vibrato effect relies on two alternating notes rather than an oscillator, so the two-note spread decides vibrato range and the note duration dictates the speed.
