Uhbik-A

Ambience / Reverb, a very unusual combination of early reflections with different plate algorithms.

While most of the other effects in the Uhbik family are geared towards the more synthetic, radical effects, Uhbik-A is the master of understatement. Great reverb is seldom conspicuous, but if itʼs not there, something is missing from the sound. With its independant control over high and low-frequency decays, diffusion and modulation, Uhbik-A delivers the kind of reverberations that can turn a flat sound into a warm space, or evoke the widest of landscapes!

Uhbik-D

Delay / echo with 5 ‘tape heads’, LFO or flutter modulation, low/high-cut filters, soft-clipping, per-tap feedback and multi-channel pan.

Imagine an echo that repeats every quarter note, although precise quarters are not part of the echo signal? Or ping-pong delay (no central tap) that applies the Haas effect for extra movement? Or 7.1 surround delays… Uhbik can do all this and more – once again, the simplicity of the GUI belies its power. Uhbik-D is the perfect playground for creative delays without the overt complexity of MFM2 (see there!)

Uhbik-F

Flanger, from through-zero tape flanging (dramatic jet-effect!) to classic stomp-box type chorus, with LFO modulation and feedback / resonance

Uhbik-F simulates two tape machines per audio channel, with recording and playback heads that can even occupy the same position if you want – impossible in the real world! Bass frequencies can bypass the effect (‘bass sanctuary’) to ensure LF-stability while the rest of the sound is swept around. Turn up the drive (2nd harmonic distortion), and your lead line will scorch its way through any mix!

Uhbik-G

Granular pitch-shifter / phase vocoder (via fast fourier analysis) delivers a wide range of dramatic contemporary effects. Whole grain goodness…

Effectively cuts audio material into snippets (‘grains’), then plays them back at a variable rate – even backwards. In the original tape devices, the radius of a rotating cylindrical tape-head determined grain size and the length of tape in contact with the cylinder determined the overlap between grains. But Uhbik-G is not bound by the physical limitations of rotating cylinders – you can make it huge or impossibly small!

Uhbik-P

Phaser set to stun, with up to 42 allpass filters in series delivering the deepest, richest phasing available. But is it an angel or a metal monster?

Again, bass frequencies can bypass the effect (‘bass sanctuary’) to ensure LF-stability. Again, resonance accentuates the comb filter effect, but unlike Uhbik-F the distance between peaks is kept fairly constant. As the signal is phase-shifted each time it is fed back, frequencies are created that were not present in the original signal – the main reason why Uhbik-P is also great for wild metallic effects!

Uhbik-Q

Equalizer, the perfect balance between simplicity and flexibility required a unique approach… Uhbik-Q is a revelation!

Maximum flexibility from a minimum of controls, low CPU without compromising transparency. Uhbik-Q combines freely tunable frequency bands (4-pole filters, not the usual 2-pole!) with presets for other options. Q-factors automatically adjust to gain, an optional ‘mid’ bell curve filter adjusts to the two main bands… judging by the simple GUI, you would never guess just how much this EQ can do!

Runciter

Filter with parallel lowpass, bandpass and highpass outputs, resonance, controllable input overdrive and brick-wall fuzz.

Filters were always dramatic sound-shaping tools, one reason why they’re still so popular. But users today expect more than a simple resonant lowpass, so here’s RUNCITER! For classic wah-wah, add low- and highpass together then control cutoff from a MIDI pedal. Or max out the resonance and drive the input from -48db to 48dB for a vast range of effects… instant glittering sweeps or absolute filter mayhem!

Uhbik-S

Frequency shifter / sideband filter with exceptional frequency response and low latency, can create anything from serene barber-pole waves to metallic FFF (full frequency freakout) effects!

Movement in frequency shifters (no LFO required) is constantly downwards or upwards. In Uhbik-S, the barber-pole effect can even rise in one channel while falling in the other. Clever routines prevent otherwise inaudible sidebands from folding back into the audio range – Uhbik-S never compromises audio quality.

Uhbik-T

Tremolo – but if you think that just means ‘volume wobble’ you haven’t tried the mother of all tremolos yet: Uhbik-T!

Our tremolo unit Uhbik-T is a general-purpose ‘rhythmicizer’ featuring linear or exponential (with 3 different strengths) gain modulation. But there’s much more: You can morph between user-defined patterns in the 11 x 16 grid, apply rhythmic lowpass filtering, add vibrato or Haas-delay spatial effects. In either of the pattern modes, the LFO wave knob selects a position between 11 user-defined patterns, and the LFO scale knob determines precisely how ‘choppy’ the effect is… tremolo redefined!

HALO-2 FX

The HALO FX plug-in brings the pristine filters, customisable distortions, EQs, fx and modulations from the HALO virtual instrument directly into your plug-in effect chain. With a signal flow comprising of a triple multi filter complete with individual LFOs, four distortions including a customisable waveshaper and bit-crusher, a post distortion filter with LFO, a reverb, delay, phaser, chorus, limiter and a choice of two EQs HALO FX is the fastest way of dialling in experimental FX ever created.

Within only a few clicks you can add any or all of the processing available in HALO FX. The Random Preset Generator will create totally new, useable, interesting settings to shape your sounds in ways you never would otherwise. OBSIDIAN is a difficult beast to pin down and to explain – and honestly, you’re probably better skipping the science and just taking OBSIDIAN for a test run to experience the mind-melting modulation that it has to offer. The plugin is more like a creative instrument than a traditional audio device. Route any audio through OBSIDIAN and it will transform the nature and timbre of the sound in sometimes unexpected ways, adding colour with a secret-sauce FX matrix and spectral delay.

Freq & Hype Matrix

The XY pad at the centre of OBSIDIAN is where the magic happens, with a central node that can be dragged or automated in your DAW to creatively move between different processing styles. FREQ controls the frequency and shape of the audio-rate modulation. HYPE sets the modulation depth and other special parameters. This secret combination of FX creates additional harmonics that add excitement and colour to your sounds. In essence, the incoming signal is modulated at a very high rate and then formant shifted, before being passed through a spectral delay line.

Creative Spectral Delay

The delay unit within OBSIDIAN is something rather beautiful. Containing controls for TIME, MODE and FEEDBACK, this module returns audio to the main matrix to create ever-shifting feedback. This is a delay with deceptively simple controls that has many creative uses; rhythmic effects, ambient textures, subtle vocal thickening and big-room synth echoes. Delay TIME can be changed, from 10ms – 2s to straight, triplet and dotted note partitions. Change the MODE time to freeplay, or sync to the BPM of your host project. Adjust FEEDBACK from 0-100% with precise control.

Randomization

When you’re stuck for ideas, or just want OBSIDIAN to suggest a magical metamorphosis, hit the central dice icon. The XY pad will be randomized, automatically choosing some stunning effects to shape your audio.

Mix

For creative purposes it’s useful to be able to mix the effected audio that OBSIDIAN produces with the original source audio. Use the Mix slider for this and conjure every kind of processing from subtle transformations, to full-on dub-style modulations that spin into infinity.

Drip

Drip is a classic modern delay and echo modulation, with built-in high and low pass filters, along with a ping pong option. Simple, yet effective.

Multiband

The Sauce allows for all of the above effects to be processed both as a whole or individually across three user-definable multiband layers. This allows for endless possibilities of sounds and effects never heard before.

Intelligent analysis
FireCharger is based on intelligent spectral dynamic processing. It analyses your audio material and gets it as close as possible to what United Plugins’ sound engineers consider ideal. The result is richer and more balanced sound of any track.

Fast and Simple
There are not too many processors with such function and there is definitely none with such simplicity of use. In most cases, you can just load a FireCharger preset and simply dial the Dry/Wet knob to decide how radical the change of your sound will be.

Anodize
Anodize sets the amount of energy your tracks will temporarily gain using the charger when they need it. Be careful with that so that your tracks wouldn’t burn.

Magnetize
Aside from spectral dynamics, your tracks can get extra charge by deploying the Magnetize parameter. This feature controls the advanced vintage tube tape-machine saturation simulation which can give your sound some additional warmth and live feel.

Brighten Up Your Tone
To make your tracks shine, United Plugins added a special sophisticated height dynamic exciter. The Tone control helps the higher frequencies to get well pronounced and make your tracks brighter.

Use All the Time
FireCharger can be used as a mastering plugin (at the end of the plugin chain) as well as to improve single tracks. It will add body and brightness to acoustic guitars and vocals, improve your drums and bass guitar tracks and charge electric guitar performance. Try it on everything!

Hassle-free Software Protection
No iLok, no dongle nor internet access is required for activation. United Plugins’ software uses licence files to activate your software. You can freely use the purchased software on all your computers as long as you are the user.

Realistic 3D Yet Flexible GUI
The photorealistic graphic user interface of the plugin gives you the feeling you are touching the real hardware. But it easily adapts to your needs. You can always drag the arrow in the bottom right corner to change its size – make it smaller to save the valuable screen space, or enlarge it to make it easier to use.

64-bit Audio Quality at ANY Sampling Rate
The plugin provides the maximum audio quality you can get. It uses internal 64-bit audio processing and can handle any sampling rate. 192 kHz or even higher.

Smart Bypass
The intelligent way United Plugins’ plugins manage bypassing ensures that you don’t get any click or harmful noises when automating the parameter. It also compensates for latency ensuring that the bypass states are perfectly in sync with each other.

Blue Cat’s PolyVibe is a complete re-creation of vintage “vibe” pedals, based on original designs and taking them several steps further for the 21st century.

With a couple of twists and innovations, the plug-in can simulate many kinds of “vibes”, chorus, phaser, rotary or wah/vocal effects, while keeping this particular vintage flavor that is so typical to “vibe” pedals.

Thanks to these extensions, the plug-in is not only suitable for guitars, but for any other instrument, including the human voice.

Like the original “Uni-Vibe” pedal (a registered trademark of Dunlop Manufacturing, Inc.) played by Jimi Hendrix, David Gilmour and many others, the PolyVibe plug-in gives you access to a wide range of vintage “vibe” tones, and actually much more!

Using the original filters designs as a starting point, the plug-in lets you control their shape and motion in details to create new modulation effects, with two extra modes. It can also produce stereo vibe effects, while most pedals are still limited to mono these days.

You can of course synchronize the modulation with the host application, and adjust the feel of the oscillator with the “swing” control to fit the music.

Despite all these extra controls and options, it has never been so easy to find your own tone: the Tone Maps helps you explore existing presets and create new effects quickly.

Spectral Disturbtion is a Multiband Chebyshev Polynomial Distortion Effect.

What Does That Mean?

Distortion is all about adding harmonics to your sound – thats what gives it bite.

Most distortions add odd and/or even harmonics to a signal, but with Chebyshev Polynomials, you can choose specific harmonics – resulting in some super unique, interesting, and weird sounds that can exist somewhere between distortion and pitch shifting.

Chebyshevs are complex formulas, but you don’t need to understand it at all to use Spectral Disturbtion – the interface is intuitive, musical, and easy to use. It centers around an XY pad to ‘perform’ polynomials 1 thru 9 – its expressive and fun to play!

Because its multiband, you can choose different harmonics and different distortion amounts for the bass, mids, and high frequencies. Its capable of some brutal noise, old radio crunch, and can even add weird harmonies to your sound.

To make things even more interesting, its got SLOO to slow down parameter changes, and BOO, which tangles up the internal routing – making it a little more unpredictable – and way more fun to play!

How It Works

Spectral Disturbtion starts by dividing up your sound into 3 frequency bands. Each band is saturated and then put through a Chebyshev Polynomial shaper.

The polynomial number its shaped through is controlled via the central XY pad – just drag the corresponding emoji around to perform it.

The Chebyshev’ed signals are then combined back together and saturated one last time before being run through hi and lo pass filters.

There’s a SLOO knob, which adds a slew to almost every knob and XY parameter on the plugin. This is essentially a ‘time shmear’ – meaning it slows parameter changes down: move a knob, and if the SLOO is high, it can take a full 30 seconds to shmear from point A to B. This is a very powerful performance function, particularly with drones or gestural music.

Then of course, theres BOO. The BOO knob tangles up the internal wires… The multibands send the wrong signals to different Chebyshev shapers. I’m not going to explain what this does exactly – but this knob adds a little chaos and a lot of stereo to your sound!

Air Sprite, a modern take on the studio hardware staple of the 80s and 90s, the multi-effects processor.

Sprite does things not possible in a hardware unit. Even better, Sprite is a plugin that is as simple, or as complex as the user desires. Make synths shine, bring guitars to life, and sprinkle audio fairy dust on vocals. A cross-fade effect can be useful but a simple blending of one material into another can be a bit boring. Fortunately, there’s now Transmutator which brings transition between tracks, song parts or whole songs to another level of fun and creativity.

Transmutator has many uses including, transitioning from different sections in tracks (for example verse to chorus or build-up to drop), mixing between two songs (for example in a DJ set), or sound design by fusing and morphing two elements together in various creative ways.

Please Note: This product only works with sidechain signals therefore applications that do not support this kind of routing (i.e. GarageBand) do not work well with it.
