Jumpstart Your Creativity

Transfuser 2 offers an array of innovative modules that inspire you to create music in ways you never thought possible. Use the Sequencer module to tweak the groove of a drum loop, vary notes in phrases, store patterns, alter the sequence speed (in relation with your session tempo), and more — in real time.

A Poly Sequencer and Chord Sequencer send monophonic and polyphonic MIDI data, respectively, to any of Transfuser 2’s synthesizer modules.

Use the Synth module to modify your sounds and shape the audio frequency, velocity, filter, attack, and decay. Transfuser 2 can manipulate a single loop or audio file, or apply its effects to a group of sounds.

Compose, Intelligently

M.A.R.I.O., or Musically Advanced Random Intelligence Operations, is a powerful tool that analyzes your music to intelligently generate chords, melodies, and variations that complement your track.

Use M.A.R.I.O.’s advanced algorithms to evaluate the musical characteristics of your song and search its smart tables to find similar or dissimilar (similarity is determined by the Variation settings) phrase styles and rhythms.

M.A.R.I.O can also manipulate parameters such as the pitch, rhythm, level, filter, and more. With M.A.R.I.O., you can simply click to create inspiring melodies, compelling loops and sequences, or build up the accompaniment.

Remix in Real-Time

Transfuser 2 also features an array of performance-drive features that enable you to trigger and manipulate your music on the fly. You can trigger a series of your own pre-sequenced patterns, or let loose and perform, arrange, and tweak grooves on the fly from your own MIDI keyboard or controller.

Transfuser 2’s offers seamless hardware integration, and its module and parameter controls, Smart Knobs, Trigger Pads, four-octave keyboard, and crossfader are completely mappable.

Effects, Instruments, and More

In addition to its real-time audio editing functionality, Transfuser 2 comes with an array of effects, instruments, and samples. Use the Effects module to insert up to four of 20 different effects per track, including Beatcutter, Tape Delay, Pumper, Compressor, Vinyl, Filter, Spring Reverb, Distortion, and Lo-Fi. Transfuser 2 includes a polyphonic analog synthesizer and electric piano instrument for.

Transfuser 2 comes with 4.5+GB of loops and phrases that include beats, breaks, basses, acoustic and ethnic instruments, synth sounds, and more. You can also other sample libraries with Transfuser 2 by dragging and dropping your own ACID, REX, Apple Loops, AIFF, and WAV files onto its interface.

Sektor is a polyphonic wavetable synthesizer with a highly intuitive user interface and a lot of customization features. Sektor was built to use a low amount of system resources while having a massive high quality sound.

Advanced modulation features such as feature rich modulation Envelopes, ADSR´s and LFO´s can be routed to the synths parameters via drag and drop, or via the right click menu of the knobs. The modulation matrix gives you even more access to features such as velocity, aftertouch and much more.

Shape each parameter of 16 voices per wavetable oscillator with OSC+. Create massive unison sounds and change the waveform, phase, pitch, stereo spread, level and detune of each individual unison voice.

Oscillators

Stereo Oscillators with Unison/Voice Stacking: Oscillators in SynthMaster have stereo output. Using the “voices”, “voices mix”, “detune curve”, “detune spread”, “pan stread”, “tone spread” and “phase spread” parameters, each basic/wavetable oscillator can generate a rich “supersaw” type sound.

Basic Oscillators – Basic oscillators in SynthMaster One are capable of synthesizing many different types of waveforms: Sine, Square, Triangle, Sawtooth, Pulse, Noise, single cycle waveforms. VST/AU INSTRUMENT

A total hunk of an instrument, it provides a refreshing and unique approach to creating odd rhythms and noise that works great for improvising, jamming, re-sampling, sequencing, and even blowing out your speaker cones.

How It Works

While complex in texture, at its core Blumen und Pflanzen is quite simple: two identical oscillators are set in an FM feedback loop, each pulsating with its own speed and envelope. Each oscillator can FM or PM modulate each other, with an intuitive XY control pad creating powerful and expressive opportunities to make everything from smooth sine tones to brutal noise.

Control for the tempo, attack, and decay of each oscillator is controlled via an XY pad. X axis is attack time and Y axis is decay time – tempo is calculated based on the combined attack/decay time. Under the central XY pad, theres a little knob which can speed up or slow down both oscillators together. This frees the instrument up from traditional timing, giving it a much more intuitive and playful approach. However, for those that want to sync to a tempo or create more precise rhythms, each oscillator’s internal clock can be switched to receive midi input – making it behave like a weirdo two voice drum synth. Just click the “SEQ” button under each XY pad to switch it into “MIDI” mode. Oscillator 1 is triggered by note C3 and Oscillator 2 by note C#3.

FM feedback is dynamic, powerful, and noisy – but if its not noisy enough for you, there’s also an additional Distortion FX to give it even more punch~

The Distortion comes with a 4-pole lopass filter with Cutoff and Resonance control, as well as an LFO to automate sweeps.

And what instrument wouldn’t be complete without its own delay?

Blumen und Plfanzen is built from the ground up to be a very stereo instrument, so it’s delay is as well.

Poly In The Beginning

Originally released in 1978, the Roland Jupiter-4 synthesizer was one of the earliest instruments to combine voice-assign polyphony with digital patch storage – that is, the ability to store and recall sounds to a digital memory and recall them at the touch of a button.

By “voice-assign polyphony,” we’re referring to instruments with a finite number of independent synthesizer voices (four, in this case) that digitally scan the keyboard and assign notes to onboard voices.

These days, voice-assign polyphony and digital patch storage are taken for granted, but this was a HUGE deal in the late 70s when options for polyphonic synthesis were mostly limited to crude string synthesizers based upon 60s organ technology, and patch recall was generally limited to how fast you could twirl knobs and flick switches!

In its day, the Jupiter-4 was overshadowed by larger, more complex (and far more expensive) instruments from American synth manufacturers, and on paper, its specs weren’t as impressive. But specs don’t tell the whole story, because the Jupiter-4 sounds fantastic, with a raw, raunchy tone not found in any of the other beloved Juno and Jupiter synths.

Its analog oscillators have a uniquely aggressive tone quality, the built-in sub oscillator adds girth, its oddly fast and deep LFO modulation capabilities allow it to create uniquely whacked out modular synth-like tones, and Roland’s famous stereo chorus “ensemble” circuit is beautifully implemented, adding a boatload of width and dimension.

The original instrument had its share of caveats, including a meager eight user patch locations, no edit mode for stored patches, just four voices of polyphony, it weighed a ton (a portly 42 lb!), and the lack of oscillator autotune meant a cold breeze could send it careening out of tune.

Cherry Audio’s Mercury-4 addresses every one of these issues, with up to 16-voice polyphony, infinite patch storage, easy patch editing, and much more.

In addition to recreating the Jupiter-4’s uniquely powerful oscillator and filter tonality, Mercury-4 beautifully replicates Roland’s renowned stereo ensemble effect.

We’ve also added a truly other-worldly “Space Echo”-style tape echo with multiple reverb modes.

The tape echo perfectly recreates the warm tonality and subtle speed variations that make the original Space Echo units so desirable, and the reverb section expands upon the original spring reverb with plate and hall modes for enhanced spatial depth.

Hide your parents, because binaural beats can make you trip….

Wait What?

Harmonal Binaurics is centered around Binaural Beats. Technically binaural beats require headphones to work their magic, though they sound great no matter how you listen to them***. Binaural Beats work by sending subtly different frequencies to each ear. Rather than hearing two frequencies, you mostly just hear one frequency, but a third rhythmic frequency – THE BINAURAL WOBBLE – is created by your brain. The speed of this wobble is the difference between the two pitches (for example, 420hz in your left ear and 426hz in your right ear creates a 6hz wobble in your brain). We dont know why the brain creates this, but what this hypothetically does is something called Brainwave Entrainment – it synchronizes your brainwaves to the wobble and induces altered states of consciousness. This may sound crazy – but who cares – it sounds great.

*** On speakers you still hear the rhythmic wobble – and the sound appears to move around the room – but its the product of air vibrations interfering with each other – not brain illusions – so it doesn’t do Brainwave Entrainment.

Binaural Beats are amazing, but Harmonal Binaurics doesn’t just do binaural beats – it also does Isochronic Tones. This is just like binaural beats, but doesn’t require headphones – instead it uses a repeating tone that can induce similar results. With Harmonal Binaurics, you can use both of these techniques at the same time for some really weird spatial and consciousness bending experiences.

But wait, thats not all. Harmonal Binaurics doesnt just do one Binaural Beat and one Isochronic Tone, IT DOES SEVEN. These seven beating tones are tuned to a user scaleable harmonic series.

The Details

Harmonal Binaurics is built up from seven identical binaural/isochronic beat generators. Each generator can fade between Sine and a user defined waveform (Triangle, Saw or Square). You can control the binaural beating speed, isochronic tone speed, isochronic amount, the shape of the isochronic tone (Sine, Triangle, Saw, Ramp and Square), and a stereo field swap (LR or RL). Theres a master speed control for both binaural beat and isochronic tone speeds, meaning you can globally slow down or speed up the whole instrument. Oddly enough, Harmonal Binaurics doesn’t take MIDI input – this is not an oversight, but an intentional way of forcing a different approach to playing it. The seven oscillators are tuned to the harmonic series (fundamental, +octave, +fifth, +fourth, +major third, +minor third), but you can shrink or expand the harmonic series via the Harmonic knob to create dense cluster chords or wide spectral chords. You can sync all the oscillators/beats with the SYNC button, and of course – theres SLEW.

One Slew To Slew Them All

Faded Instruments loves the SLEW. Slew comes from modular synths and basically what it does is slow down knob movements. Turn a knob and wait as it slowly gets to where its going – which frees you up to twiddle other knobs while it does its thing. Slew features prominently in our Spectral Disturbtion plugin and turns it into a really expressive and unique performance distortion. Well, the slew is back with a vengeance: every parameter on Harmonal Binaurics is controlled by the SLEW knob – allowing you to create long grand gestures – great for drone or slow oriented music (but can be useful for any!).

There is no Mac VST at this point.

Bazille – Digital Modular Synthesis

Bazille is a large modular system combining digital oscillators with analogue-style filters and modelled effects, with a flexibility that only modular patching can provide.

After ACE, the second spawn of our ongoing ‘Berlin Modular’ project, this one is a very different, much larger beast…

Ultraflexible modules – Bazille is highly unusual for a modular synth.

Although the filters are traditional analogue models, the oscillators are unashamedly digital: They combine the two technologies that made digital synthesis affordable (and analogue synths suddenly unfashionable) in the 1980s – FM (frequency modulation, more correctly ‘phase modulation’) and PD (phase distortion).

In Bazille, each oscillator panel has five distinct sections:

ULTRA-CLEAN OSCILLATORS
Playback of wavetables requires digital resampling to play different frequencies. Without considerable care and a whole lot of number crunching, this process will create audible artifacts. Artifacts mean that you are (perhaps unknowingly) crowding your mix with unwanted tones / frequencies. Many popular wavetable synthesizers are astonishingly bad at suppressing artifacts – even on a high-quality setting some create artifacts as high as -36 dB to -60 dB (level difference between fundamental on artifacts) which is well audible, and furthermore often dampening the highest wanted audible frequencies in the process, to try and suppress this unwanted sound. In Serum VST, the native-mode (default) playback of oscillators operates with an ultra high-precision resampling, yielding an astonishingly inaudible signal-to-noise (for instance, -150 dB on a sawtooth played at 1 Khz at 44100)! This requires a lot of calculations, so the Serum VST oscillator playback has been aggressively optimized using SSE2 instructions to allow for this high-quality playback without taxing your CPU any more than the typical (decent quality) soft synth already does. Load up Serum VST and we think you’ll be able to notice both what you hear (solid high frequencies, extending flat all the way up to the limits of hearing) as well as what you don’t hear (no unwanted mud or aliasing gibberish- just good, clean sound).

MODULATION – WORK THE WAY YOU WANT TO
The modulation system allows for drag and drop connections between mod sources and destinations. Want an LFO controlling a filter cutoff? Simply drag the LFO title to the cutoff knob. This LFO->Filter connection will now appear in the Mod Matrix as well. In other words, you have two views/approaches for creating and modifying your modulations: sometimes a list is nice, other times you just want the job done fast and easy.

REALTIME WAVETABLE MANIPULATION
In addition to moving through the set of wavetables (up to 256 make up a single oscillator), you can manipulate the waveform itself in a separate realtime process referred to as Warp. This allows for FM/AM/RM/Oscillator Sync and many other ways to modify the waveform, including “Remap” modes – a graph editor for drawing your own custom table manipulations.

FILTER TYPES
Serum VST includes all of the filter types found in LFOTool in addition to some brand-new ones. Flangers, Phasers, and Comb filters all of which can key-track to the musical note you play. Dual filter types let you control or morph between filter types. Get creative with atypical processes for filters such as downsampling, or the unique filter types found nowhere before, such as the dirty-sounding French LPF.

BUILT-IN SUITE OF EFFECTS
An effects rack with 10 effects modules lets you get your sound all the way to the finish line inside Serum VST. Effects can be re-ordered to any configuration you want. Virtually all effect parameters are also available as modulation destinations. This is especially useful on monophonic synth sounds. For example, apply an LFO to control reverb size or dry/wet, or velocity to control distortion amount. Many of these effects and modes were built just for Serum VST, so there are many unique effects to choose from, such as Hyper, which simulates (additional) unison amounts, or a dual-waveshaper which allows for a distortion you can morph between two separate wave shapes.

ADVANCED UNISON
Serum VST will let you stack a single oscillator to use up to 16 voices. Each of the wavetable oscillators have a number of unison advanced parameters. Stack settings allow for note (e.g. octave) layering to get a fuller sound for a single note-press. Set the unison voices to all have their unique waveform at once with the Unison WT Pos setting, or have them all skewed in a different way with the unison Warp control. A variety of unison tuning modes per-oscillator let you get the stack sound blooming or swarming like you want.

Sound Features
Curve features aliasing-free oscillators with custom waveforms, noise generation and broad FM options. Waveform crossfades provide for changing timbres; a comprehensive unison mode delivers fat lead sounds, wide pads and massive sound. Drawable LFOs deliver everything from melodic and rhythmic patterns to dubstep wobbles and punishing bit-crushing effects. Flexible filter routing, a feature-rich mono mode plus legato and glide, are all designed for great depth of control.

Preset Library
Curve’s preset library is a shared online database, providing a constant source of inspirational sound. Public preset sharing allows an ever-increasing number of great presets, public preset voting will help you manage the vast number of sounds, all from within the plugin. Curve ships with an excerpt of this ever-growing sound library. Macro knobs let you explore vast sound variations quickly, for quick access to those parameters that define the core of a sound.
