Tomofon is a groundbreaking new synth from Klevgrand.

This virtual instrument is using a new innovative ”Audio Model” format with a unique capability to process very large volumes of waves, extracted from real audio. Whether you want to play around with the included Audio Model Starter Pack (instruments & voices) and presets, or import your own audio to shape your own unique soundscapes – it is fair to say that you are in for a creative journey.

There are already lots of synths and samplers around, so why this?

Simply put, Tomofon is not a sampler. It is a musical instrument in its own right and doesn’t necessarily aim to imitate real instruments or voices. Tomofon introduces a new “Audio Model” format where the generated sounds are seamlessly morphed between different layers and sections of a massive amount of real audio waves. This gives an instantly playable synthesizer that can sound very organic, but also like something out of this world. The possibilities of changing the character of the sounds are so vast and multi-layered that it will add a new extra dimension to your music production.

How does it work?

Tomofon converts audio files into a large set of oscillating waves, which are then mapped into pitch zones where each wave represents one layer (a bit similar to how a sampler structures different velocity zones). The main difference is that since each zone is populated with waves instead of ordinary samples, the synth engine can morph between them (both layers and zones). This makes all transitions between zones and layers continuous and seamless. The structure containing these organized wavetables is called an Audio Model and gives Tomofon its dynamic properties and characteristic sound.

Create and share your own unique sounds

A significant feature of this plug-in is that users can import their own audio files and create new and unique Audio Models. Ordinary audio files (preferably with monophonic content) can easily be imported and distributed into different pitch zones over the keyboard range, either automatically or manually. Doing an automatic import is basically a one-click process which instantly results in a proper playable Audio Model. A manual import gives the user full control of which waves should end up in which pitch zone. Last but not least you can easily share your own created Audio Models with others.

Tomofon comes pre-loaded with a pack of 124 Audio Models. Included with your download is also over 180 presets to choose from, to get you going right away. From there on you can venture further and experiment with the existing Audio Models, or start using the built-in editor of the plug-in, importing your own sounds to shape and deconstruct. Working on the principles of fluid dynamics and designed to potentially be a real-world replicable machine, every single component inside ResonHeart has been modeled after existing hardware – commercially available devices like air pumps, pneumatic valves and metal resonators. Also the surrounding room acoustics has been carefully modeled, simulating a wide range of spatial environments, from small chambers to big concert halls, to stone-walled cathedrals and beyond.

The Imitation Game

Built as a virtual instrument through the use of physical modeling techniques (ACS), ResonHeart has to be considered as a natural born acoustic machine made of clockwork components, air pumps, motors, pneumatic valves and complex resonator blocks (one per voice). Each resonator block consists of a set of sixteen universal Helmholtz resonators (which can be individually triggered and tuned) arranged in a characteristic modal-synthesis disposal. This particular design makes ResonHeart genuinely capable to imitate the peculiar sound of a wide range of acoustic systems, including rigid-body or membrane-based percussions and cymbals – one of the hardest things to simulate using physical modeling.

With no electronic components involved in its sound generation process, ResonHeart is a real mechanical synthesizer, an articulated acoustic instrument which can also mimic the tones and flavors of other acoustic instruments – and its extended set of mechanical automations and modulation units will also provide manifold, evolving dynamics to the final sound.

Also, ResonHeart’s simplified interface makes the sound designing process seamless, since all the controls and parameters are always in plain sight, arranged on its single-view panel.

Trig the main pump motor, provide energy to the air turbulence and modify the cross-sectional area of the ducts. Change the internal volume and the embouchures aperture for each of the Helmholtz resonators and take control of every nuance of your tone by assigning different modulations for each of the pneumatic valves.

Finally, place each of the resonator blocks inside an accurately modeled hall space and be prepared to reach expressive performances, organic and evocative sounds that will go far beyond what ordinary electronic or acoustic instruments can do.

A Renaissance Synthesizer

Cherry Audio Elka-X Synthesizer is based upon the legendary Synthex , a rare Italian analog synthesizer designed by Mario Maggi and manufactured by ELKA in the early eighties. Elka-X replicates the extraordinary character of the original synth without compromising sound or functionality, thoughtfully expanding its feature set and delivering the authentic Synthex experience at a price anyone can afford.

The Synthex included a combination of uncommon and forward – looking features that made it stand out from other contemporary synthesizers, including highly stable digitally – controlled analog oscillators and a flexible four – pole multimode filter. Unlike most other popular synths that utilized CEM3320 filter chips in a lowpass – only configuration, the Synthex filter featured a 24 dB/oct lowpass mode, 6 and 12 dB/oct bandpass modes, and a 12 dB/oct highpass mode. Along with a powerful onboard analog chorus effect, this gave the Synthex a distinct and powerful tonality. It was multitimbral, with the ability to play two different patches simultaneously, in either split or layer mode. It even included an innovative four – track monophonic step – sequencer with real – time recording and transposition.

By the mid – 80s, ELKA made the last Synthex for Stevie Wonder, who used it for the distinctive bass tone on his single “Skeletons” from the 1987 album Characters. Other notable users of the Synthex were Geoff Downes of the supergroup Asia, Keith Emerson, Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran, Peter Howell of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, and Jean – Michel Jarre, who used it extensively on Rendezvous and for his famed “laser harp” sound.

X-pertly Extended and Enhanced!

Each aspect of Elka-X has been precisely modeled upon Cherry Audio’s pristine vintage Synthex. Every effort was taken to emulate the prized tone of the original’s DCOs, dynamic filter, and stunning chorus. We’ve preserved the innovative sound – sculpting and performance features such as layering and keyboard split, and hugely improved the original’s clunky step sequencer.

Once again, Cherry Audio has kept the soul of a classic alive while enhancing its feature set for modern studio environments. We’ve increased the polyphony, included mono and unison modes, and added velocity response that was absent from the original design. We’ve expanded the functionality of the filter and the LFOs, greatly extending the modulation options. We not only simplified the operation of the four – track step sequencer but added a complete arpeggiator with independent assignments for both layers.

Unique panel controls make it painless to exchange settings between layers, sequencer tracks, and even different presets. In addition to the chorus effect found in the original, Elka-X adds studio – quality echo and reverb stereo effects, with independent settings for both layers. With additional touches such as chord memory, over 500 pro patches, and flexible MIDI mapping, Cherry Audio’s Elka-X brings the authentic and expanded Synthex experience roaring into the 21st century.

Amazing Oscillators, Unique Filters

For FabFilter One, we have put tremendous effort in creating the best cut-off filter ever.

Our new design approach has resulted in the fattest and smoothest self-oscillating digital filter you have ever heard. It has been tuned carefully to achieve the character and warmth of a classic analog synthesizer. FabFilter One’s filter sounds raw but never cheap or ‘digital’, even at full resonance.

The filter is fed by an equally high-quality solid-sounding oscillator, developed from scratch to be completely aliasing-free. It features sawtooth, triangle, and square wave forms with pulse width modulation.

The oscillator and the filter can be modulated by the LFO and the EG. The LFO offers triangle and square wave forms, with adjustable wave balance so any wave form between sawtooth and triangle can be selected. The tempo can be synchronized to the host. The EG has the usual ADSR knobs, but with a perfectly fine-tuned feel. Also, it has an additional Hold setting that extends the time keys are held down.

• MPowerSynth provides 8 fully-featured modulators which can control any set of parameters including other modulators. Each modulator works as an LFO, level follower, midi/audio triggered ADSR enveloper, randomiser or pitch detector, or even a combination and can listen to the plugin’s side-chain.
• You can make the sound move in time, be less static and more interesting. You can make various parameters depend on the input (or the sidechain) level or even listen to the input pitch.

Adjustable Oscillator Shape Technology

• Every oscillator in MPowerSynth uses the most versatile oscillator algorithm on the market. It provides mix of predefined oscillator shapes, custom waveforms edited using our MeldaProduction Envelope System (MES), a step-sequencer and several methods for algorithmic post-processing.
• It also provides a harmonic mode, which lets you control the harmonic content instead of oscillator shape. This is especially useful for high frequency oscillators.

Multiparameters

• MPowerSynth lets you control multiple parameters using a single so-called multiparameter. This may not only come handy for automation for example, but the multiparameters are very smart units and you can use them to smartly morph between banks of settings for example. Smart Randomisation

• Being creative is sometimes complicated and one often needs an inspiration. By clicking a single button you can walk through the billions of possible settings and find the best one for you. The smart randomisation algorithm wisely selects good sounding combinations of parameters. It can even randomise modulators for you. And if that’s too much, you can just hold ctrl and MPowerSynth will just slightly modify existing settings.

Automatic Gain Compensation (AGC)

• Most plugins change loudness of the output audio, which makes browsing presets inconvenient, not mentioning randomisation. MPowerSynth includes automatic gain compensation, which quickly adapts to current settings and ensures the output sounds as loud as the input. This even protects you from thinking that something sounds better in cases it is just louder.

Safety Limiter

• Some plugins can intensely increase gain when exposed to specific audio materials. MPowerSynth provides a safety brick wall limiter, which ensures the output stays below 0dB and prevents your equipment and your ears from potential danger automatically.

Sync Interpolation

• MPowerSynth implements the most advanced interpolation technology to provide the best audio quality.

Adjustable Up-Sampling 1x-16x

• Digital audio provides very superior audio quality compared to ancient analog gear, but there are problems too. The main problem is the aliasing, which may be noticeable, when using nonlinear processes such as compression or saturation. MPowerSynth includes both minimum-phase and high-quality linear-phase upsampling algorithms, which avoids the aliasing.

Synchronisation to Host Tempo

• Every oscillator and modulator in the plugin can automatically synchronise to the host. But it can be out-of-sync if you want of course.

MIDI Controllers with MIDI Learn

• MPowerSynth contains a powerful MIDI processor, which listen to MIDI controllers and MIDI keyboard and control any parameters realtime.

64-bit Processing and an Unlimited Sampling Rate

• MPowerSynth provides the maximum audio quality you can get. It uses 64-bit audio processing and can handle any sampling rate. It does not make much sense to go over 192kHz, but if you think it is a good idea, the plugin can do that.

Extremely Fast, Optimised for Newest AVX Capable Processors

• Computers are now extremely fast, but the algorithms are more complex and projects bigger, so we still need to use the processing power with care. • How many times did you forget your USB dongle? We are an honest company and expect the same from our customers. Our software uses licence files to activate your software. And the licences are to-person, so you can use it on all your computers as long as you are the user.

A versatile, morphable polyphonic synthesizer

Syndt is a high-quality polyphonic synthesizer with a lot of possibilities. The oscillator waveform can be morphed between pure sine to pure square and supports altering of pulse width. Both the shape and pulse width can be modulated by two independent LFOs.

With fine-tuned low pass and high pass filters combined with a separate filter attack setting, (optionally based on velocity) this synth can create some raw and interesting sounds.

The additional LFO can be shaped exactly as the oscillator, and optionally controls filters, gain, and pitch (using a modulation wheel or just automatically). This LFO can be synchronized to an AUv3 host.

Globally there’s a nice stereo chorus, ping pong stereo delay (that also can sync to an AUv3 host’s BPM), and EQ.

• 1. Oscillator – This XY Pad sets the wave shape. X-axis: pulse width (pure sine to the left, short pulse width to the right). Y-axis: morphs between pure sine and square.
• 2. Mini LFO:s & Filters – These sliders affect the oscillator’s values. These LFOs only output pure sinewaves. If the NOTE ON SYNC is ticked, the LFO will be reset on a new note. If not, it will keep ongoing. HP & LP Filters with separate resonance control.

• 4. ADSR – Controls the Attack time, Decay time, Sustain Level and Release time of the voice.
