Boz Big Clipper

Big Clipper combines a variable clipping algorithm and limiter that gives you the ability to control peaks and increase loudness transparently.

Enabling you to make tracks louder, compression and reverb sound more natural, and overall mixes more cohesive.

Big Clipper is what you get when you take a clipper and inject it with growth hormones, and then add a little extra MSG on top. Clipping is a great way to transparently control the peaks of your tracks. When done subtly, clipping will make compressors and reverb sound more natural down the line, and give your mix an overall cohesive feel.

But clippers have one glaring issue: They really fall apart when you push them too hard. There seems to be a very thin line between adding cohesion and breaking apart into a distorted mess.

That’s where Big Clipper comes in.

What Does BUTE Do?

Signum Audio’s smart auto re-metering feature gives instantaneous feedback on how loudness will be affected by changes to the mix so there is no need to re-meter the whole mix. Smooth out peaks by adjusting pre-gain and selecting a preset release curve – Transparent, Natural or Smooth – which have been designed to make gain reduction as un-noticeable as possible. The release time configures automatically based on multiple properties of the input signal, and the dial is used to set the multiplication factor of the calculated release time, enabling fine-tuning. BUTE can also be utilised as a maximiser to push quieter mixes louder whilst taking care of True Peak overshoots. The result? LIMITER

Master your track like a pro

Don’t let bad limiter settings un-do hours of hard mixing work… LIMITER is a great-sounding, smart mastering plugin that analyses your audio and suggests the best settings for your music. Avoid the hassle and create incredible sounding masters in less time with LIMITER.

Load up an instance of LIMITER on your master channel and select your preset (i.e Loud, Spotify, Apple Music, etc). Monitor the loudest section of your track, and click analyze. You’ll see a target range on the input gain slider showing you what gain adjustment is needed to achieve your sonic goal. You’ll also see target arrows on the other controls to help you optimize your sound.

You can dial in rich harmonic distortion using the NRG slider, and enhance your transients with the PCH slider. This drives more perceived loudness and punch to help mitigate the effects of limiting.

LIMITER provides great sounding limiting that gives you incredible transparency and clarity (especially in the low-end), even when mastering loud! 

Great sounding masters in 3 steps

Step 1. 

Load up an instance of LIMITER on your master channel and select your preset, such as Loud, Spotify, or Apple Music.

Step 2.

Monitor the loudest section of your track, and click analyze. You’ll see a target range highlighted on the input gain slider showing you what gain adjustment is suggested to achieve your sonic goal. You’ll also see target arrows on the attack, release, link, and ceiling knobs, helping you optimize those settings to suit your music.

Step 3.

Set the gain slider¹ within the highlighted target range, then adjust the attack², link³, and ceiling⁴ knobs to match the suggestions based on LIMITER’s analysis. We recommend leaving ‘Release’ on auto for the most musical result.

Hear The Difference

LIMITER gives your masters dramatically improved clarity in the low-end compared to other limiters. When running a 100Hz sine wave through LIMITER, a market-leading limiter, and a €299 limiter, we can see that Mastering The Mix’s LIMITER produces considerably less harmonic distortion. In this test the harmonic distortion was 20dB to 40dB less, giving an audibly cleaner sound.

SP2016 Reverb

The SP2016 was the first programmable studio rack processor. It introduced the concept of the ‘plug-in’ to the pro audio world back in 1982, with actual EPROM chips that would be plugged in under the hood. Revered for its signature reverbs, the SP2016 was notably used by Dave Pensado, George Massenburg, Alan Sides, Roy Hendrickson, Jack Douglas, and Mick Guzauski.  The lush reverb can be heard on countless hit records by Talking Heads, Adele, Mariah Carey, Eminem, and more. Now, 36 years later, this signature sound is available for your DAW.

Spring

Spring Reverb models the sound and character of popular spring reverb found in guitar amplifiers, popularized by Surf, Garage and Rockabilly music. Spring takes this a step further by allowing manipulation of physical parameters not normally available in a real spring tank. The results vary from faithful recreations of real springs to distinctive new sounds that push the physical boundaries of reverb.

This vintage reverb sound originally derived from the reflections of sound waves travelling through springs has been given an overhaul for the 21st century and beyond. Eventide Spring contains two different sized ‘spring tanks’ along with the ability to morph between one and three springs. Easily program The Ribbon to seamlessly transition between any two settings in real-time! 

ShimmerVerb

ShimmerVerb combines a massively lustrous reverb with parallel pitch shifters to add ethereal layers making any signal, well, “shimmer.” Oftentimes, producers would achieve the effect by using Eventide pitch-shifting hardware such as the H910, H949, or H3000 or other rack mount units in combination with a reverb. This production technique was popularized by Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno on U2’s The Unforgettable Fire.

Now, this iconic sound has been refined and extended with a modern, unified interface that is great for adding dreamy ambience to guitars, keys, synths, samples, and vocals. In typical Eventide fashion, features have been added such as the ability to infinitely feedback the signal, resulting in cascading reverbs that smear into oblivion. Feedback can be further fine-tuned by specifying which frequencies are fed back through the low/mid/high cross-over network. 

TriceraChorus

TriceraChorus is inspired by the classic tri-choruses and stompbox choruses of the 1970s and early 1980s, particularly the Dyno-My-Piano. It pairs rich BBD style tri-chorusing with another signature Eventide effect: micro-pitch detuning. This effect can be used to thicken the sound and widen the stereo field by detuning the left and right signals and pan them opposite directions.

The combination of these effects makes it easy to create syrupy, smooth, and deep modulations on synths, strings, vocals, guitar, bass, and more. TriceraChorus is a great way to add richness and spatial depth to your sounds.

CrushStation

CrushStation is a versatile, best-in-class, stereo distortion platform for your Mac or PC. Its controls can drive your tone from creamy saturation to a brutal sonic assault. But distortion is just the starting point. CrushStation brings multi-effects to the mix by adding a three-band EQ, Compression, Octave Mix and, Eventide’s unique take on failing hardware, the Sag control. Use the MIX Control to blend your dry signal with CrushStation to create parallel compression, distortion, and other creative effects.

Rotary Mod

Rotary Mod is a rotating speaker effect that simulates a Leslie cabinet. Just like the original sound derived from the uber-famous Hammond organ’s Leslie speaker cabinet, the plug-in produces a pulse-like vibrato effect depending on the speed of rotation. Rotary offers precise control to dial in the exact amount of movement you need. This classic, swirly effect has been used on countless hit records to drastically transform guitars, bass, synths and even vocals. Undulator

Undulator excels at evolving pads, sync’d chops, and time-lapsing dreamy soundscapes. Combined with a multi-tap delay and powerful tremolo, Undulator’s controls give any sound sustain and shape. MicroPitch can take you beyond the run-of-mill stereo spread effects of simple micro pitch plugins. It goes above and beyond by allowing you to mix in detuned and delayed versions of your source, creating depth and dimensions not possible before. With its expanded controls you can achieve deep pitch dives, haunting echoes, and pristine chorusing effects.

Crystals

Eventide Crystals combines twin reverse pitch shifters with reverse delays and reverb. This iconic H3000 Harmonizer® effect can be used to create out-of-this-world climbing and cascading pitched delays or to create unique sounding reverbs. It features two reverse granular delays that can be manipulated by length and pitch. Crystals excels at adding life to synths, guitar, and vocals making them sound huge and majestic.

Crystals is not a one-trick pony. The plug-in is also capable of huge sounding reverbs. Tweak the pitches a full octave down for a quick “drunk vocal” sound. Fit snares in the mix by pitch-shifting down an octave. Set really long delay times (up to 4 seconds per voice) with high feedback to use it as an ambient looper! Instant Phaser Mk II

Released in 1971, the Eventide Instant Phaser began the studio effects revolution by successfully simulating tape flanging, an effect that’s been at the core of legendary albums for the last five decades.

Reminisce back to a phaser with analog personality, smooth modulations, and inherent musicality. Outfitted with a complete host of control options, the Instant Phaser Mk II is out of the rack and into your plugin arsenal. This new emulation of the classic effect accomplishes the same legendary sound notably used on hits like Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir” and “Presence”. The capabilities have been expanded, and now you can even take your phaser on an excursion from the 70s far into the future with the delightfully characteristic “Age” knob.

Physion

Physion is the first plug-in to use Eventide’s ground-breaking Structural Effects technology – A new method for processing audio. It allows you to split a sound into its transient and tonal parts, independently manipulate them using Eventide’s world-class effects and then fuse them back together. With the ability to add effects and dynamic controls to the transient and tonal sections, you can produce a wide range of effects, from the subtle to the extreme.

H3000 Band Delays

Imagine if you could take any sound, separate it by frequency bands, change the filter type, and then individually process those bands with delays. The H3000 Band Delays plug-in is dereived from the H3000 Harmonizer® studio processor. This unique plug-in is capable of everything from standard delays and filtering, to stereo-widening and killer rhythmic effects.

Reverb

Blackhole

Most reverbs are earth-bound and constrained by the physics of the real world. Eventide’s Blackhole reverb breaks the rules by allowing you to create virtual spaces that could never exist in reality (at least the one we inhabit). At large sizes, its soft attack and lingering, harmonic tails allows it to really shine on guitars, strings and pads. At small sizes, those very same qualities can add an angelic sheen to vocals or turn a simple drum track into an otherworldly rhythm section.

MangledVerb

MangledVerb™ is a unique effect combining reverb and distortion. Ported directly from the award-winning H9 Harmonizer®, MangledVerb is capable of creating lush reverbs, ripping distortion leads and sound-sculpting musical chaos. Guitarists have used it for years to create signature sounds and now you can have it in your favorite DAW.

Tverb

Tverb was developed in collaboration with legendary producer, engineer and musician, Tony Visconti. The plug-in was inspired by the iconic sound of the title track of David Bowie’s twelfth studio album, Heroes, recorded in August 1977 in the shadow of the Berlin Wall. With only one track left for lead vocals, Visconti was able to harness the power of Bowie’s voice by inventing a stunning recording technique. This technique is the foundation of Tverb.

Tverb integrates three completely independent lush reverbs with compression and selectable polar patterns on microphone 1 and adjustable gates on microphones 2 and 3. Tverb recreates Visconti’s iconic effect as a starting point while adding features that enable new soundscapes and effects. The use of stereo microphones enhances the effect and DAW automation can be used to program the microphones to wander around the hall as the track plays.

9 High End Hardware-Based Reverb Algorithms Bundled in a Single Native Plug-in. UltraReverb comes packed with over 300 killer presets and features reverbs from the H8000, compression, EQ and delay integrated for the most flexible reverb plug-in available. 

Clockworks Legacy

Instant Flanger Mk II

Modeled on the original hardware unit from 1976, the Instant Flanger plug-in simulates the happy accidents of flanging sounds originally produced by interfering with physical tape machines. Its phase-reversed and variable-delay outputs, create a heavy stereo effect. With its simple controls, Instant Flanger allows you to instantly oscillate your tones and will add a new layer of movement to guitars, drums and synths.

By pressing multiple front panel “IN” buttons, Instant Flanger allows for multiple simultaneous control modes. Have the flange moving constantly with an LFO, while also spiked by the peaks from the envelope follower!

H910 Harmonizer®

The H910 Harmonizer was the world’s first digital effects processor. With its unique combinations of pitch shifting, modulation and delay, the H910 can be heard on countless ground-breaking works by artists from AC/DC to David Bowie to Frank Zappa. Simply put, nothing sounds quite like it.

A powerful creative tool, the H910 plug-in for AAX, VST and AU is a faithful recreation of the original hardware. Use the H910’s pitch changing ability to create specific musical intervals and perfect harmonies, spread guitars, fatten snares, apply subtle organic de-tuning to synths or add slap-back delays to vocals. At extreme settings, you can create unheard-of mechanical sounds, drone effects or robot language using self-oscillation, delay, and anti-feedback.

H949 Harmonizer®

Building on the legacy of the H910 pitch shifter, the H949 was Eventide’s first de-glitched pitch-shifter. Produced from 1977 to 1984, it introduced MicroPitch which used a proprietary single sideband modulation technique for precise control of small pitch shifts. The H949 also offered unique flange, reverse and randomized pitch effects.

Popularized by Jimmy Page (as the only piece of digital gear to grace his rig) and cherished by Suzanne Ciani, the H949’s full feature set is recreated in this plug-in. From basic engineering and sound sculpting tasks to demonic space robot creations; H949 is built to inspire.

Omnipressor

Introduced in 1971, the Omnipressor® rack unit was widely used on hit records throughout the last four decades. One of Eventide’s first customers was a young Brian May, lead guitarist of Queen. With the Omnipressor in his rig, his sound was never the same again.

Professional quality dynamic-modifier for gating, compression, limiting and expansion. The Omnipressor is even capable of reversing a sound’s envelope, making loud sounds quiet and quiet sounds loud. This plug-in is based on the original Eventide Omnipressor, introduced in 1971 and used on hit records throughout the last four decades.

Instant Phase Mk II

Modeled on the original hardware unit from the early 1970s, the Instant Phaser plug-in simulates one of the first dedicated electronic effects units ever made. Producers and engineers put it to use on countless hit records to create stereo images from a single source and create swept comb filter effects similar to – yet distinct from – tape flanging. The Instant Phaser employed a series of eight, FET-based, carefully tuned analog all-pass filters which delivered lush phasing while preserving the original tone.

EChannel is a powerful audio engineering channel strip that includes a routable gate, a powerful parametric EQ, a versatile compressor and an output transformer simulation. EChannel is optimized for efficiency and delivers legendary Eventide effects on multiple tracks at once, without sacrificing sound quality or taxing your CPU. 

EQ 45

Eventide’s EQ45 is a faithful recreation of the Urei 545 equalizer. Its streamlined, easy to use interface features a four-band parametric EQ with high and low cut Butterworth filters, width and gain controls for each frequency band, and an overload protection mechanism.

EQ 65

Eventide’s EQ65 is a faithful recreation of the utilitarian studio tool, the Urei 565 Filter Set. This two-band notch/bandpass filter set allows you to quickly find a selected frequency and perform a boost or cut of the signal. It’s a precision tool that allows you to surgically de-emphasize or completely eliminate selected frequencies in an audio recording.

Precision Time Align

Precision Time Align is a high precision sub-sample delay that can slide a track forward or backwards in time. It will help you get perfectly synchronized double-tracked recordings completely eliminating timing anomalies and phase issues from your mix, especially on multi-miked drums, vocals and instruments.

This can help to tighten up the low end and ensure it is coming only from the center of the stereo field. The Stereo control enhances the stereo field for the frequencies only above the mid range, leaving the lower frequencies untouched. This can be used to add extra ‘space’ in the master by pushing instruments even wider in the stereo field.
  • Ceiling: Sets the maximum loudness for peaks. Your master will not go louder than this.

How To Use REFERENCE 2

1. Load Your References

Load up an instance of REFERENCE as the final plugin on your master bus. REFERENCE should come after your metering plugin but before any speaker / headphone calibration software (if you use it). Drag and drop the reference tracks you want to use onto the Wave Transport.

2. Level Match

Your mix will most likely be a lot quieter than your reference tracks giving you the misconception that it has a weaker bass and less clarity in the high frequencies. The Level Match button will allow you to compare your mix to the reference tracks without bias, allowing you to make informed mixing decisions.

3. Gain Insights

The visuals in the Trinity Display show you how your EQ balance, stereo width and compression compares to your reference track. You can also click to solo a frequency band allowing you to zone in on the intricate differences between your mix and your references.

It is a necessary tool to finish your recordings. It lets you look at and listen to the stereo field and its mono compatibility, ensuring your recording is truly placed into the center. It can widen, shrink and excite stereo field on 4 separate bands.

Features

Global panorama, widening and exciting – for starters you can modify the panorama and widening of the signal itself. The algorithm is totally transparent and mono compatible. Finally you can apply a broadband exciter to improve the clarity of each band.

  • 4 bands with separate widening and exciting – while it is often desired to have bass stereo field minimal as opposed to treble, MStereoProcessor lets you process all bands separately. You can modify the stereo field from mono to a 200% increase and even perform delayed stereo enhancement. Both algorithms are fully transparent and mono compatible. You can also apply an exciter to improve the clarity of each band. MStereoProcessor provides 3 types of crossover (analog, linear-phase, hybrid), so you can choose the optimal band separation mode for your particular audio material.
  • 2D stereo field analyzer and channel peak meters – integrated analyzers give you an accurate view of the output stereo profile, which you can use to ensure the recording is accurately wide and has correct direction.
  • Mono/stereo field check – you can easily check if your recording is mono compatible and what the stereo content actually is.
  • Mute and solo for each band – you can always listen to each band and check that each spectral part of the recording is perfect.
  • Extremely advanced and easy-to-use user interface – our products are always designed to enhance the workflow. You can easily change all values, fine-tune each control in multiple ways. Easy orientation in a standardized GUI, textual editing and smooth visualization with almost unlimited zooming are standard in all of our plugins. Moreover our plugins are the world first (and still the only ones), which support resizable and stylable GUI’s.
  • MIDI controllers with MIDI learn – you can map any parameter to any MIDI controller or MIDI keyboard and control it realtime or record and automate it.
  • Very fast, optimized for SSE and SSE2 processors.
  • Global preset management and online preset exchange – using a title button you can save your settings (which are shared on the computer) so you can easily access these in other songs. Moreover all plugins can automatically share your presets and download presets of other users from our servers (if this feature is enabled). We are building a community and you can be a part of it!

64-bit plugins can’t work in 32-bit hosts even if the operating system is 64-bit. Do NOT use 32-bit plugins in 64-bit hosts. They would have to be bridged and can become slow and unstable
