Nanopulse

Nanopulse by JMG Sound – The Power of Attack

Get ready to add power and punch to your attacks that will cut through your mix like never before. Enhance and shape your transients in an innovative new way. Nanopulse takes the profile of other expertly crafted attack sounds and applies them to your sound, giving you the power to morph the character of your transient or replace it altogether. Then shape the dynamics to perfection with Nanopulse’s multiband attack and sustain processor.

Enhanced Attack

Morph the character of your transients with various profiles taken from drums, percussion, instruments, noises, objects and more. You can use these character profiles to subtly enhance your existing transients or completely transform them. You get complete control over the pitch, tone and resonance to ensure the timbre fits perfectly with your sound.

Transient Shaping

Use the 3-band dynamic shaper to balance the relationship of attack and sustain independently for low, mid and high frequencies. You can change the crossover frequencies and slope to finetune it to your needs. The 6 easy to use sliders give you immediate control to sculpt and shape your sound with lightning speed and precision.

Flexible Detection

Nanopulse offers three different modes for detecting transients, Smart, Spectral and Fast. Each has unique sound properties and benefits, offering you the flexibility to suit your audio material.

Character Morphing

At the heart of Nanopulse is our unique attack enhancer. Here you can select from 64 transient types. They have been captured from a wide variety of sources, for example, snare skin, woodblock, kick beater, glass ping, string pluck, cymbal tap, and the list goes on. Simply select from the list to make your transients take on the character of these profiles.

Order & Chaos

Nanopulse has a high-quality limiter on the output that lets you drive the level into or simply use it as a safety feature. There is also a handy randomizer that can drum up unexpected inspiration, but if you do not prefer the results, you can use the undo feature to revert back to your original sound.

Hassle-free software protection

No iLok, no dongle nor internet access is required for activation. Our software uses licence files to activate your software. You can freely use the purchased software on all your computers as long as you are the user.

Realistic 3D yet flexible GUI

The photorealistic graphic user interface of the plugin gives you the feeling you are touching the real hardware. But it easily adapts to your needs. You can always drag the arrow in the bottom right corner to change its size – make it smaller to save valuable screen space, or enlarge it to make it easier to use.

64-bit audio quality at ANY sampling rate

The plugin provides the maximum audio quality you can get. It uses internal 64-bit audio processing and can handle any sampling rate. 192 kHz or even higher.

Smart bypass

The intelligent way our plugins manage bypassing ensures that you don’t get any clicks or harmful noises when automating the parameter. It also compensates for latency ensuring that the bypass states are perfectly in sync with each other.

Intelligent sleep on silence

This plugin intelligently detects whether it makes sense to perform processing at all. And if not, it temporarily turns on sleep mode. In such a state, it requires virtually no CPU at all to save the computing sources for other processes.

Free-for-life updates

Our plugins never get obsolete. We keep track of the current operating systems and DAWs. And you may always update to the most recent version for free. Without paying a cent, a penny, or whatever currency you prefer.

  • AAX, AU, VST & VST3-compatible plug-in (using internal 64-bit audio processing capable of handling any sample rate)
  • macOS 10.10
  • Windows 8/10

Note that no iLok, dongle, or internet access is required for Nanopulse activation. (All United Plugins software uses license files for activation and owners can freely use purchased software on all their computers as long as they are the user.)

Couture

Couture gives you control over your dynamics, and particularly attacks.

Raw Efficiency. Increase or decrease dynamics. Get a usable result, now.

Fully Volume-independent. Keep the freedom to change input gain when needed. Including the Saturation stage.

Laser-sharp. Couture’s 2-bands, half-spectral, RMS, program-dependent detector finds each and every transient. No internal thresholds.

Couture is very versatile:

  • Make individual drum tracks a lot more dynamic and punchy
  • Remove the “click” out of a kick drum sample
  • Make a whole bus more or less dynamic in a single click
  • Give glue to a mix with light compression and saturation.
  • Use a subtle saturation that preserve dynamics.
  • Deess the very start of notes for vocals.
  • Give life to inane lead synths.

Combined dynamics and saturation

There is often some overlap in usage cases between saturation and dynamics. Both can be used to control peaks. Some transients prefer saturation, others prefer dynamics.

Couture comes with both Transient and Saturation sections to make related decisions at the same time. For example for a drum track you can increase dynamics and smash it later with distortion.

Full volume-independence

Transient Shaping is traditionally volume-independent. We extended the Saturation stage to be volume-independent, too

When using Couture you keep the freedom to change input gain afterwards. This avoids some gain-staging dependencies in your signal chain, that may backfire later in the mixing stage.

Compression versus Transient Shaping?

Our vision is that transient control could perhaps be something satisfying.;

In general terms, a compressor is somewhat longer to tune and its parameters change volume: attack, release, ratio, threshold… they change output gain while you tune them.

Essentially, the Transient section of Couture has only 3 parameters and they have semantic meaning:

  • Sharpen: add or remove dynamics in one click, how “sharp” the signal is
  • Speed: time scale of captured transients
  • Front vs Back of the captured note.

When turned to Front, the Sharpen knob acts like the Attack knob on a regular Transient Shaper. When turned to Front, the Sharpen knob acts more like the Sustain knob on a regular Transient Shaper.

To improve predictability, we made Couture’s behavior 100% program-dependent. Couture catches transients very accurately by design.

Transgressor 2

Not Just Another Transient Designer

A true one of a kind, Transgressor goes beyond the limits of standard transient designers. It gives you the ability to craft the sound of drums and other instruments not just in terms of attack and sustain, but timbrally as well. The Transgressor combines a transient designer with two equalizers.

No big deal you say? Any EQ plug-ins will do? Au contraire mon frère. Transgressor not only lets you equalize the attack and sustain portions of the instrument’s envelope individually (yes, you read that right; attack can be equalized differently from sustain), but it also lets you dial in the specific low, mid, and high frequencies independently on each.

What if you need a brighter attack but want to keep the dark resonance of toms or kick drum? Perhaps you need more midrange attack but wish to brighten the resonance of a hi-hat? Perhaps you’re happy with the overall sound of snare but the attack is just a little too bright.

The answer is the Transgressor (you must have seen that coming). Only Transgressor gives you the ability to control transients and sustain without compromising one for the other.

MAIN FEATURES

  • Hybrid transient designer with two 3-band equalizers with selectable slopes
  • Gain controls let you boost or eliminate transients and sustain independently
  • Mix knob lets you adjust wet/dry signal
  • Adjustable transient detector lets you control sensitivity, eliminate false triggers from bleed
  • Internal or external sidechain control of detector
  • Sidechain EQ lets you dial in the frequencies that trigger the detector
  • Three sidechain modes with “listen” feature to monitor sidechain signal
  • Retrigger controls time between triggered events
  • A/B bank comparison
  • Factory presets to get you started

EQ Transients and Sustain Individually

EQ plug-ins only make global changes to an instrument; whatever you do to the transient is also done to the sustain and decay. Even dynamic EQs change the entire envelope, even if it’s only momentarily. Transgressor gives you 2 EQs. One for your attack and one for your sustain, letting you shape exactly the way you want your attack to sound. There are three bands to each EQ section (low, mid, high) with variable frequency selection and gain for each band. Each band also gives you three selectable filter types that are particularly suited to each band. For example, the low band has high-pass, low shelf, and bell, while the mid band has bell, bandpass, and slant, which boosts highs while cutting lows and vice versa.

EQ Applications

Do you want to add bite to your snare without increasing the snare buzz? Transgressor is your go-to plug-in. Do you need to reduce the ringing in your snare without changing the tone? No worries. Transgressor does it easily. Transgressor is also a great tool for reamping a snare. The high-frequency attack coming through a speaker will not excite the snare head enough. You need midrange information to make that happen, which requires transient design and dramatic EQing. Transgressor’s ability to boost the gain on the low and midrange portion of the attack, while eliminating sustain lets you do it in one simple process. Better still, it gives you the ability to easily craft the sound of the re-amped snare with adjustments on the fly.

If you’ve ever fallen asleep on the control room sofa while producer and drummer went through every snare in the known universe to find the right one, only to be replaced in the mix with CPU-eating software, Transgressor can save both time and CPU resources. Don’t like the snare the client sent you? Forget about time-consuming snare sample shootouts. Transgressor’s powerful EQ and transient- and resonance-shaping capabilities can transform the sound of any drum to suit the song and your taste.

Not just for drums, Transgressor can also bring out the snap and pop of a funk bass without turning it into a baritone guitar. Plus, you can get really clever and create unique-sounding drums and instruments that will have other producers calling you up to find out how you got that sound.

Sidechain Sleight of Hand

In addition to giving you full control over the sound of your transients, Transgressor adds another layer of creativity by letting you use the detector with an external sidechain. This lets you adjust the EQ and sustain of any instrument triggered by another. For example, some engineers use room mics just for ambience. However, if you mix like Chris Lord-Alge and derive the body of your drum sound from the room mics, perhaps you’ll find that you need to increase the attack on the snare drum hits. Put Transgressor on your room mics and route the snare drum to the sidechain. Then the transients will only trigger when the snare drum is hit, but it will affect the sound on the room mics. This is highly effective for getting big drum sounds without washing them out in reverb.
