Amplified Instrument Processor

A monster of a channel strip you’ll use everywhere.
The Amplified Instrument Processor is a complete suite of tools designed to help you sculpt the ultimate guitar, bass or keyboard tone.

But the AIP is much more than that.

Its power and versatility make it an excellent processor for virtually any audio task. The AIP can work wonders on vocals, acoustic instruments, pianos, group buses and even across the whole mix.

Parametric Equalization

The AIP has 4 bands of fully parametric EQ based on German Klangfilm tube equalizers of the 1950’s. This EQ combines digital precision and flexibility with analog quirkiness and unpredictability.

  • Up to 36dB of boost and cut using gain scaling.
  • Independently switchable high-pass and low-pass filtering.
  • Switchable response: modern active or vintage passive EQ curve types.
  • Circuit age modeling: dial in analog anomalies to simulate aging components.
  • Channel Variance: 16 different channels variations model the slight imperfections of vintage handmade equipment.

Proprietary Signal Processing

This is the Secret Mojo Sauce of the AIP. Forget about swapping in preamp plugins. Change characteristics of the AIP by switching between different response modeling and adjusting a slew rate emulation.

  • Tube response modeling provides a warm, round tone that’s perfect for bass and male voices.
  • Tape response modeling gives your signal low end push and high end sparkle. Great for heavy electric guitars, kicks and snares.
  • Solid State response modeling emulates the midrange forward sound of 70’s consoles like those made out in California by companies… that we can’t name… Great for making things in your face.

VCA Compressor

The AIP’s VCA Compressor emulation is based on the classic dbx 202 VCA integrated circuit. This compressor is great for guitars, but smooth and musical enough to work with vocals.

  • Full control of all parameters: threshold, ratio, attack, release and makeup gain.
  • Switchable position in the signal path — place it pre or post EQ.
  • Adjustable nulling – control the amount of color and crunch when the compressor is hit hard.

Frequency Dependent Gain Reduction
The AIP has yet another compressor on it; this one designed to work on selected ranges of frequencies below 600Hz. Clean up the bottom end of chugging guitars, tame resonant bass notes, knock out chestiness on vocals or take the ring out of a kick drum.

Insufferable Midrange Filter
Overdubs and doubling can lead to a nasty build-up in the presence range. This specialized notch filter takes care of the annoying 2kHz “whistle” of electric guitars, vocal sibilance, excessive cymbal hash, and finger squeaks or pick noise from acoustic instruments.

Stereo Widening
Unlike many stereo widening processors, the AIP’s stereo widening algorithm lets you spread things out across the sound stage without sacrificing the solidity of the center. Wrap reverb and ambience around listeners, enhance the movement and sweep of keyboard pads, and put them dual guitar parts at opposite sides of the stage, and then some.

Real Time Analyzer
The AIP’s RTA shows you the frequency response of your signal, and superimposes all of your EQ curves and Frequency Dependent Gain Reduction settings for fast, intuitive fine tuning.

DeeQ

Dynamic EQ

DeeQ lets you adjust the frequency, gain, and Q value of the filter dynamically, either from the incoming audio, or from an external sidechain. You can apply a pre-filter EQ to the detector to only respond to specific frequencies, letting you truly have control of the sound.

Sidechain Detection

Using sidechain detection you can dynamically sculpt your audio using another audio channel as the source. For example, you can automatically remove mid range frequencies when the vocal is playing, or remove the sub bass when the kick hits.

Mid/Side

With the addition of mid/side modes, you can dynamically adjust the stereo spread of your audio. Make the bass mono when a kick plays, or widen the treble over a vocal take.

IN DETAIL

DeeQ is a single-band dynamic EQ filter that automatically adjusts the parameters of the EQ based on the incoming envelope or an external sidechain.

With DeeQ you can do everything from small adjustments like making room in the mix, to creative wah type effects.

FreqAnalyst Multi

Blue Cat’s FreqAnalyst Multi is a unique multiple tracks real time spectrum analyzer: it lets you visualize the spectral content of several audio tracks on the same screen with extreme smoothness and high resolution, for both time and frequency.

It is the ideal solution for mixing: you can use it as a frequency overlap detector and actually see which part of the spectrum every single instrument uses. It is now also possible to easily compare the spectrum of several instances (for EQ matching or response curve measurement) thanks to the new ‘Diff’ view which displays the difference between several curves.

Just like with Blue Cat’s FreqAnalyst Pro plug-in, the frequency analysis can be fine tuned in details, and three modes are offered for each channel: instant, peak or average response of several audio tracks can be displayed on the same graph (the plugin supports up to 16 curves). Zooming capabilities and coordinates display let you exactly measure the characteristics of the spectrum for each audio track. Thanks to the advanced routing capabilities you can define different settings for each track and thus adapt the analysis for each audio signal you want to analyze. Our multiple tracks tutorial shows you how simple multiple tracks spectrum analysis can be.

The four memory slots let you store any curve in memory: it helps you make comparisons between several setups or portions of your audio project very easily.

Thanks to included window opacity management feature and advanced layout customization capabilities, you can adapt the plug-in user interface to your personal needs and enhance your workflow. It is also possible to create a completely custom user interface using Blue Cat’s skinning language.

NEW IN ANTHOLOGY XII

SplitEQ

SplitEQ is a groundbreaking EQ that offers a new approach to corrective and creative audio equalization. It excels at Enhancing, Repairing, Rebalancing, and Widening any musical source or audio signal. SplitEQ is both a surgical tool for fixing particularly nasty problems and a creative tool that opens up exciting new musical possibilities. More than just an EQ—It’s a new and better tool.

SP2016 Reverb

The SP2016 was the first programmable studio rack processor. It introduced the concept of the ‘plug-in’ to the pro audio world back in 1982, with actual EPROM chips that would be plugged in under the hood. Revered for its signature reverbs, the SP2016 was notably used by Dave Pensado, George Massenburg, Alan Sides, Roy Hendrickson, Jack Douglas, and Mick Guzauski.  The lush reverb can be heard on countless hit records by Talking Heads, Adele, Mariah Carey, Eminem, and more. Now, 36 years later, this signature sound is available for your DAW.

Spring

Spring Reverb models the sound and character of popular spring reverb found in guitar amplifiers, popularized by Surf, Garage and Rockabilly music. Spring takes this a step further by allowing manipulation of physical parameters not normally available in a real spring tank. The results vary from faithful recreations of real springs to distinctive new sounds that push the physical boundaries of reverb.

This vintage reverb sound originally derived from the reflections of sound waves travelling through springs has been given an overhaul for the 21st century and beyond. Eventide Spring contains two different sized ‘spring tanks’ along with the ability to morph between one and three springs. Easily program The Ribbon to seamlessly transition between any two settings in real-time!

ShimmerVerb

ShimmerVerb combines a massively lustrous reverb with parallel pitch shifters to add ethereal layers making any signal, well, “shimmer.” Oftentimes, producers would achieve the effect by using Eventide pitch-shifting hardware such as the H910, H949, or H3000 or other rack mount units in combination with a reverb. This production technique was popularized by Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno on U2’s The Unforgettable Fire.

Now, this iconic sound has been refined and extended with a modern, unified interface that is great for adding dreamy ambience to guitars, keys, synths, samples, and vocals. In typical Eventide fashion, features have been added such as the ability to infinitely feedback the signal, resulting in cascading reverbs that smear into oblivion. Feedback can be further fine-tuned by specifying which frequencies are fed back through the low/mid/high cross-over network.

TriceraChorus

TriceraChorus is inspired by the classic tri-choruses and stompbox choruses of the 1970s and early 1980s, particularly the Dyno-My-Piano. It pairs rich BBD style tri-chorusing with another signature Eventide effect: micro-pitch detuning. This effect can be used to thicken the sound and widen the stereo field by detuning the left and right signals and pan them opposite directions.

The combination of these effects makes it easy to create syrupy, smooth, and deep modulations on synths, strings, vocals, guitar, bass, and more. TriceraChorus is a great way to add richness and spatial depth to your sounds.

CrushStation

CrushStation is a versatile, best-in-class, stereo distortion platform for your Mac or PC. Its controls can drive your tone from creamy saturation to a brutal sonic assault. But distortion is just the starting point. CrushStation brings multi-effects to the mix by adding a three-band EQ, Compression, Octave Mix and, Eventide’s unique take on failing hardware, the Sag control. Use the MIX Control to blend your dry signal with CrushStation to create parallel compression, distortion, and other creative effects.

Rotary Mod

Rotary Mod is a rotating speaker effect that simulates a Leslie cabinet. Just like the original sound derived from the uber-famous Hammond organ’s Leslie speaker cabinet, the plug-in produces a pulse-like vibrato effect depending on the speed of rotation. Rotary offers precise control to dial in the exact amount of movement you need. This classic, swirly effect has been used on countless hit records to drastically transform guitars, bass, synths and even vocals. Notably used by The Beatles, Beach Boys, The Band, Cream, and Pink Floyd, this iconic emulation brings that classic ’60s whirling modulation bliss into the 21st century on your laptop or the palm of your hand.

Undulator

Undulator is Eventide’s classic modulated tremolo effect from the iconic H3000 effects processor. This unique, rhythmic effect combines ethereal feedback and detuned echos, run through an AM / FM modulated tremolo. Whether used for manipulating samples or adding movement to strings, pads, guitars, and keys, Undulator is a muse for creative musicians. Add Undulator into your plug-ins collection for the most playable tremolo-style effect on your DAW or iOS device.

Undulator excels at evolving pads, sync’d chops, and time-lapsing dreamy soundscapes. Combined with a multi-tap delay and powerful tremolo, Undulator’s controls give any sound sustain and shape. This is perfect for transforming ordinary synths, keys, guitars, and even vocals into evolving pads, tempo-synced production elements, or ethereal and fluctuant delays. Simply put, Undulator can make shorter sounds into longer layered effects, and give sustaining sounds shape and rhythmic character.

MicroPitch

MicroPitch is a fine-resolution pitch shifter for subtle tone fattening, plus delays for dramatic slap back effects. MicroPitch is the latest incarnation of an iconic effect originated by Eventide in the 1970s. With each generation, Eventide has added refined, enhanced and built-on its legendary predecessors.

MicroPitch can take you beyond the run-of-mill stereo spread effects of simple micro pitch plugins. It goes above and beyond by allowing you to mix in detuned and delayed versions of your source, creating depth and dimensions not possible before. With its expanded controls you can achieve deep pitch dives, haunting echoes, and pristine chorusing effects.

Crystals

Eventide Crystals combines twin reverse pitch shifters with reverse delays and reverb. This iconic H3000 Harmonizer® effect can be used to create out-of-this-world climbing and cascading pitched delays or to create unique sounding reverbs. It features two reverse granular delays that can be manipulated by length and pitch. Crystals excels at adding life to synths, guitar, and vocals making them sound huge and majestic.

Crystals is not a one-trick pony. The plug-in is also capable of huge sounding reverbs. Tweak the pitches a full octave down for a quick “drunk vocal” sound. Fit snares in the mix by pitch-shifting down an octave. Set really long delay times (up to 4 seconds per voice) with high feedback to use it as an ambient looper! From sound design to otherworldly solos, Crystals will spark inspiration.

Effects

Instant Phaser Mk II

Released in 1971, the Eventide Instant Phaser began the studio effects revolution by successfully simulating tape flanging, an effect that’s been at the core of legendary albums for the last five decades.

Reminisce back to a phaser with analog personality, smooth modulations, and inherent musicality. Outfitted with a complete host of control options, the Instant Phaser Mk II is out of the rack and into your plugin arsenal. This new emulation of the classic effect accomplishes the same legendary sound notably used on hits like Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir” and “Presence”. The capabilities have been expanded, and now you can even take your phaser on an excursion from the 70s far into the future with the delightfully characteristic “Age” knob.

Physion

Physion is the first plug-in to use Eventide’s ground-breaking Structural Effects technology – A new method for processing audio. It allows you to split a sound into its transient and tonal parts, independently manipulate them using Eventide’s world-class effects and then fuse them back together. With the ability to add effects and dynamic controls to the transient and tonal sections, you can produce a wide range of effects, from the subtle to the extreme.

H3000 Band Delays

Imagine if you could take any sound, separate it by frequency bands, change the filter type, and then individually process those bands with delays. The H3000 Band Delays plug-in is dereived from the H3000 Harmonizer® studio processor. This unique plug-in is capable of everything from standard delays and filtering, to stereo-widening and killer rhythmic effects.

Just feed it any instrument or vocal and instantly manipulate up to 8 voices by frequency, resonance, filter type, delay time, volume and panning. Then easily build complex movement using the H3000 Function Generator.

H3000 Factory

The H3000 Factory combines the pitch, delay, modulation, and filtering that made the original H3000 Ultra-Harmonizer a studio legend.

Octavox

Level up your composition skills with Octavox’s unique time-based diatonic harmonizer technology. Octavox is an inspiring tool that takes any incoming tones—even drums—and outputs up to eight voices based on the chosen key and timing interval. Based on technology from Eventide’s flagship H8000 hardware effects processor, Octavox will take your melodies and ideas to new heights. Stack harmonies, widen instruments and create innovative rhythmic sequences. Whether you are an electronic musician, singer/songwriter or guitarist, Octavox has got you covered with more than 70 presets to boost your creativity and productivity.

Quadravox

Quadravox is a unique composition tool designed to inspire songwriting, stack harmonies, widen instruments and offers creative innovative rhythmic sequences. With Quadravox, you can take any incoming tones, including drums, and generate up to four voices based on the chosen key and timing interval. It’s optimized for multiple instances so your tracks can interact with each other by way of beautiful harmonies and groovy sequences.

Quadravox controls are intuitive, allowing you to quickly adjust parameters or type in values. Each of the four voices can be independently manipulated by level, panning, delay time with feedback, and pitch, including the type of musical interval. The effect can even be sync’d to your DAW tempo for killer, melodic, rhythmic delays.

UltraTap

UltraTap is a unique multi-tap effect capable of rhythmic delays, glitchy reverbs, huge pad-like volume swells and extraordinary modulation. It’s the perfect tool for creating drum fills, vocal choruses, swelling guitar chords and other evolving effects — everything from reversed reverbs to a massed church choir singing a Gregorian chant in Notre-Dame Cathedral!

Reverb

Blackhole

Most reverbs are earth-bound and constrained by the physics of the real world. Eventide’s Blackhole reverb breaks the rules by allowing you to create virtual spaces that could never exist in reality (at least the one we inhabit). At large sizes, its soft attack and lingering, harmonic tails allows it to really shine on guitars, strings and pads. At small sizes, those very same qualities can add an angelic sheen to vocals or turn a simple drum track into an otherworldly rhythm section.

MangledVerb

MangledVerb™ is a unique effect combining reverb and distortion. Ported directly from the award-winning H9 Harmonizer®, MangledVerb is capable of creating lush reverbs, ripping distortion leads and sound-sculpting musical chaos. Guitarists have used it for years to create signature sounds and now you can have it in your favorite DAW.

Tverb

Tverb was developed in collaboration with legendary producer, engineer and musician, Tony Visconti. The plug-in was inspired by the iconic sound of the title track of David Bowie’s twelfth studio album, Heroes, recorded in August 1977 in the shadow of the Berlin Wall. With only one track left for lead vocals, Visconti was able to harness the power of Bowie’s voice by inventing a stunning recording technique. This technique is the foundation of Tverb.

Tverb integrates three completely independent lush reverbs with compression and selectable polar patterns on microphone 1 and adjustable gates on microphones 2 and 3. Tverb recreates Visconti’s iconic effect as a starting point while adding features that enable new soundscapes and effects. The use of stereo microphones enhances the effect and DAW automation can be used to program the microphones to wander around the hall as the track plays.

UltraReverb

9 High End Hardware-Based Reverb Algorithms Bundled in a Single Native Plug-in. UltraReverb comes packed with over 300 killer presets and features reverbs from the H8000, compression, EQ and delay integrated for the most flexible reverb plug-in available.

Clockworks Legacy

Instant Flanger Mk II

Modeled on the original hardware unit from 1976, the Instant Flanger plug-in simulates the happy accidents of flanging sounds originally produced by interfering with physical tape machines. Its phase-reversed and variable-delay outputs, create a heavy stereo effect. With its simple controls, Instant Flanger allows you to instantly oscillate your tones and will add a new layer of movement to guitars, drums and synths.

By pressing multiple front panel “IN” buttons, Instant Flanger allows for multiple simultaneous control modes. Have the flange moving constantly with an LFO, while also spiked by the peaks from the envelope follower!

H910 Harmonizer®

The H910 Harmonizer was the world’s first digital effects processor. With its unique combinations of pitch shifting, modulation and delay, the H910 can be heard on countless ground-breaking works by artists from AC/DC to David Bowie to Frank Zappa. Simply put, nothing sounds quite like it.

A powerful creative tool, the H910 plug-in for AAX, VST and AU is a faithful recreation of the original hardware. Use the H910’s pitch changing ability to create specific musical intervals and perfect harmonies, spread guitars, fatten snares, apply subtle organic de-tuning to synths or add slap-back delays to vocals. At extreme settings, you can create unheard-of mechanical sounds, drone effects or robot language using self-oscillation, delay, and anti-feedback.

H949 Harmonizer®

Building on the legacy of the H910 pitch shifter, the H949 was Eventide’s first de-glitched pitch-shifter. Produced from 1977 to 1984, it introduced MicroPitch which used a proprietary single sideband modulation technique for precise control of small pitch shifts. The H949 also offered unique flange, reverse and randomized pitch effects.

Popularized by Jimmy Page (as the only piece of digital gear to grace his rig) and cherished by Suzanne Ciani, the H949’s full feature set is recreated in this plug-in. From basic engineering and sound sculpting tasks to demonic space robot creations; H949 is built to inspire.

Omnipressor

Introduced in 1971, the Omnipressor® rack unit was widely used on hit records throughout the last four decades. One of Eventide’s first customers was a young Brian May, lead guitarist of Queen. With the Omnipressor in his rig, his sound was never the same again.

Professional quality dynamic-modifier for gating, compression, limiting and expansion. The Omnipressor is even capable of reversing a sound’s envelope, making loud sounds quiet and quiet sounds loud. This plug-in is based on the original Eventide Omnipressor, introduced in 1971 and used on hit records throughout the last four decades.

Instant Phase Mk II

Modeled on the original hardware unit from the early 1970s, the Instant Phaser plug-in simulates one of the first dedicated electronic effects units ever made. Producers and engineers put it to use on countless hit records to create stereo images from a single source and create swept comb filter effects similar to – yet distinct from – tape flanging. The Instant Phaser employed a series of eight, FET-based, carefully tuned analog all-pass filters which delivered lush phasing while preserving the original tone.

FabFilter Volcano 3

Erupting with Character and Vintage Quality

FabFilter is proud to announce Volcano 3, the latest version of its award-winning filter plugin. Volcano 3 sees the introduction of a completely reimagined interface, a raft of new vintage-style filter shapes, per-filter saturation control, full visualization of modulation sources and targets, and much more. With its smooth workflow, no-limits flexibility and dazzlingly authentic analogue sound, it’s the first-call plugin for creative filtering.

Beautiful New Interface and Improved Workflow

FabFilter has redesigned Volcano 3 from the ground up to make it more intuitive and immediate, while at the same time introducing a wealth of new features, and dramatically improving visualization of audio and modulation signals. The new filter display speeds up workflow with the selection of multiple filters at once and presents a unified response curve with stereo separation, as well as a high-resolution spectrum display.

Claro

Whether you’re a bedroom producer or a Grammy-winning pro, you want to take control to develop your own musical voice.

Claro will empower you to make informed musical decisions in a unique and intuitive way.

Claro is a comprehensive EQ Plug-In that serves the production process from composition to final mix, with three distinct views, progressively adding deeper insight and precision to prevent mud, clutter, or harshness, helping you blend your tracks into a clear and balanced mix.

How does Claro benefit you?

Staying focused is difficult, it slows the production process and kills creativity.

Specifically designed to offer “Vibe first, detail later”, Claro has three distinct views which help to build your EQ intuition and confidence without interrupting the flow. You’ll be guided towards making the right decision for you, first time, every time.

After having reduced masking from your previously muddy mix, have you ended up with something lifeless or sterile?

Of course, you have, but were you aware that not all masking is bad all of the time? Masking can impart body, thickness and presence to your tracks. Claro identifies masking and empowers you to learn and choose whether it is problematic or positively contributing to the tone you’re trying to achieve.

Resonance isn’t always bad.

Resonances are the sharp, tonal characteristics that ring over time, as the overtones of a bell. They can cause things to sound harsh or boxy, and while you might be tempted to notch out or remove all of the resonances, they also help determine that sound’s character, including its pitch.

When searching for resonant areas to tweak, Claro shows precise peaks and highlights those that resonate most over time.

You don’t always refer to audio in specific Hz, so why should your Plugin?

Claro’s friendly, intuitive interface guides you towards frequency ranges using familiar words such as ‘Mud’ and ‘Harshness’ in addition to Hz. A piano keyboard is also displayed to set your EQ band to a specific note helping you to work musically.

Produce | Tweak | Mix

Three Distinct Views

Claro sustains focus and accelerates your workflow through three distinct views.

The first is the PRODUCE view, offering a fast, creative EQ that actively promotes your musical creativity while removing unnecessary distractions and complex technical terminology.

TWEAK view then opens up more correctional possibilities, providing you with the cleanest, most flexible filters. The real-time analyser adapts to your moves and helps to identify problematic resonances.

Finally, use the MIX view to understand and assemble your mix. Every track is simultaneously displayed for you to prioritise, explore interactions and swiftly address frequency collisions between competing tracks.

Claro is an equaliser that aids the production process from composition to final mix. Progressively adding deeper insight and precision, Claro maintains focus and accelerates your workflow through three distinct views.

Produce – Tone

Build EQ intuition and confidence without interrupting your flow.

Broad EQ moves while creating, even if they’re subtle, often inspire you to make different musical decisions.

Focus on where the energy is and discover what tonal characteristics you want to achieve.

Produce – Width

Mid-side EQ is often essential for cleaning up stereo synths and loops or creating space for vocals, and it’s just as quick as Tone shaping.

Flip to Width mode to see the side-channel energy and tweak it.

Too much rumble in the sides? Mono the bass with the Low Cut Filter.

Tweak

Sometimes you’ll need to dive into finer details, tweak filter resonance, adjust left/right and mid/side balance, or attenuate areas that contribute to boxiness or harshness.

Claro’s adaptive spectrum analyser follows the channel (stereo, left/right or mid/side) and the Q of the band you’re adjusting to show you what you need to see.

No more boosting and sweeping. Claro identifies resonances and highlights them so you can be in control of how much or little you wish to attenuate those resonances.

Mix

View all Claro instances across your project and see how the audio interacts.

Drag & drop tracks to explore corrective EQ moves across any combination of tracks from the same window.

Yellow highlights indicate where each track in your mix competes against, or masks, your chosen reference track. Areas of masking can lead to it sounding boomy, muddy, or harsh.

Use the Invert EQ function to apply corresponding boosts to one track and cuts to another to reduce masking and give each track its own spectral space.

Features

  • Claro’s EQ is highly flexible, with each of its 26 bands offering:
    • A clean, musical-sounding EQ that resembles the well-loved Neve types, their modern derivatives and the SSL G Series, as well as many high-end outboard equalisers.
    • Left, Right, Mid, Side, Mono, or Stereo channel processing giving you the capability to correct, widen, narrow, or make space within each track.
    • A wide 20hz – 40kHz range. The extended high-frequency range offers a smooth, airy quality – excellent for vocals and mix busses.
    • Variable Q, including resonance and overshoot on the cut and shelving filters, respectively, giving you the ability to mimic classic synth filters and hardware EQ curves.
    • Variable slopes on all band shapes, up to super-steep (120dB per octave) for surgical work and treating precise audio bands
    • Claro’s automation is smooth and artefact-free, unlike most premium EQs.
  • Auto Gain uniquely keeps your track at the same loudness, no matter the signal content or how you choose to EQ it.

Oxford Dynamic EQ

The Ultimate 5-Band Dynamic EQ

Have you tried to control boomy or harsh frequencies using a traditional static EQ but found you compromised the integrity of the original recording? Then found that writing automation lost you precious time and sounded unnatural? Perhaps you’ve heard that a multiband compressor is the answer but it left you scratching your head?

Then the Oxford Dynamic EQ is the tool you need, providing just the required amount of processing when you need it and takes little time to set up.

5 bands of the ultra-musical Type-3 EQ curve can be overlapped to bring unparalleled control and characteristic Sonnox transparency to your single sources, instrument groups and 2-bus alike.

The Dynamic EQ introduces unique features such as the option to engage the effect by onset (transient) detection – very useful when working with drums and percussion. Additionally, mid-side processing can be used to enhance a vocal without affecting side-channel balance or to open up a mix by focusing low end energy in the centre.

This highly-tweakable space-carving capabilities of the Dynamic EQ will be a welcome addition to your mixing arsenal.

MAIN FEATURES

  • 5 bands of the Oxford Type-3 EQ curve which offer proportional-Q, often considered the most musical EQ curve-type
  • All bands can overlap fluidly without the static phase distortion or low-frequency artefacts associated with multiband compressors
  • Each band can process and/or detect from mono, stereo, mid or side channels
  • Flexible per-band internal/external side chain controls
  • A clear and informative GUI simplifies the often-complex workflows associated with multiband dynamic plug-ins
  • Flexible upwards/downwards compression and upwards/downwards expansion
  • Engage the effect either by setting a level threshold or by using the unique onset detection feature for very precise transient processing

GotoEQ

A classic EQ unit reinvented for the digital age

GotoEQ is a new evolution of a vintage passive tube-based program equalizer, expanding on that classic sound with dynamic EQ bands.

GotoEQ performs the classic ‘low-end trick’ with dual Boost and Attenuate controls for its low shelf, but it also offers the ability to perform a ‘high-end trick’, with a similar formulation of high shelving.

With continuous frequency selection, you can tune each band as you like. But most importantly of all, GotoEQ’s two mid bands offer dynamic attenuation, bringing a musical approach to the classic EQ unit.

Usage

Simultaneously boost and cut the low shelf to create that low-mid scoop on bass tracks. De-ess vocals or de-harsh overheads by engaging dynamic attenuation and tuning the high-mid band. Add air to signals with the high shelf filter, and ‘scoop’ the high-mids using a ‘high-end trick’. Get control over the ‘nose’ of bass tracks with dynamic attenuation of the Low Mid and High Mid bands. Subtly EQ a whole mix or bus using light settings and mild compression

  • 1. Prepare for treatment – To let the dynamic processors work at their best, make sure to set the right input level.
  • 2. Classic style filters – Two shelving filters with separate Boost & Attenuation controls. To achieve the ‘Pultec’ effect, both boost and attenuation must be above 0 dB.
  • 3. Dynamic parametric EQs – These work a bit differently than the Low & High filters – a dynamic processor attenuates the signal. Fine-tune with the gain knob.
  • 4. Level like a boss – VU-meters for Input or Output levels.

Features

  • Low and High Shelf filters, with detailed modelling of a classic passive EQ unit
  • Two parametric dynamic filters
  • High-pass filter: 20/40/80 Hz
  • Preset library
  • Continuous frequency selection for all four bands
  • Boost and Attenuation for the Low and High shelving bands
  • Gain, Q, and Dynamic Attenuation for the two mid bands
  • Finely-tuned compression algorithm makes mid bands react dynamically to the signal
  • Global Input and Output Gain controls (+/-24dB)
  • Global bypass and individual band bypass
  • Peak metering for the input or output
  • macOS 10.10 or later (optimized for the M1-processor)

Picante

Echothief Inspired

This plugin is a direct collaboration with Dr Chris Warren (aka Superhoax); who is also the genius behind Echothief, the library of impulse responses we use for our modelling reverb of the same name. The plugin is adapted from his Picante MaxForLive patch.

Soft Saturation

Picante works as a tone shaper, graphic EQ, and light distortion. It can be made to add grit or a soft fuzz. The full range EQ gives you precise control even as the limiters introduce a nuanced amount of nonlinearities for tonal depth.

Light, Sweet, Crude

We use a unique combination of limiters and saturation to obtain a light push overdrive that is perfect for bringing out the grit in horns and vocals, or used more aggressively it can be used to push a tone to be hard but not heavily distorted.

Q Power

The inclusion of variable Q gives another dimension of control as you can push the sound’s resonance toward ringing. This lets you use this plugin as an effect for otherworldly sounds, shaping a saxophone into a thick tinny sound and then morphing into a ringing percussive blast.

Oxford SuprEsser

The Oxford SuprEsser is both a very highly-featured professional De-Esser and a Dynamic EQ. There is a simple mode for quick fixes, but also an advanced mode for increased functionality and fine-tuning.

The combination of an intuitive FFT display and three listen modes enables the user to easily see and hear exactly where the problem frequencies are, allowing the rapid reduction or removal of the offending audio. As well as being able to trigger the full band compression, only the offending frequencies can be carefully carved out.

Since the SuprEsser can operate at all frequencies, ‘plosives’ and other annoyances can also be removed effortlessly, making it more than a simple De-Esser. Additional features include Automatic Level Tracking, Linear Phase Filtering and a Wet/Dry blend control for final balancing.

A new concept is born – a simple and intuitive De-Esser, PLUS access to a much more sophisticated frequency specific compressor, giving complete control over aggressive frequencies wherever they may be in the audio spectrum. With the Oxford SuprEsser, you can take out unwanted frequency peaks as and when they occur – unlike applying a fixed EQ to the whole channel.

MAIN FEATURES

  • 64-bit compliant (AAX / AU / VST)
  • Highly featured professional De-Esser
  • Linear Phase Dynamic EQ
  • Transparently controls aggressive frequencies
  • Automatic Level Tracking follows energy levels (no need to automate threshold)
  • Large intuitive graphic display makes finding frequencies very easy
  • Full Spectrum Operation (20Hz -20KHz)
  • Three different ‘Listen’ modes
  • Very easy to use
  • Advanced Mode for ultimate control of the Dynamic EQ
  • Many creative as well as corrective uses
  • Presets giving good starting points

As a De-Esser, the Oxford SuprEsser is designed for the treatment of sibilance and fricatives in vocals, and the treatment of unwanted whistles and ‘spirant’ artefacts associated with wind instruments.

However, it can equally be applied to removing low-end ‘plosives’ and thuds from over-close vocal work, without affecting components nearby in the frequency spectrum, keeping the low-end in tact. For the most natural-sounding results, the SuprEsser de-esses only the frequency band you set – so you won’t end up with an over-de-essed lisp-like voice with all the top end gone!

Detailed visual feedback is provided thanks to the highly intuitive graphical display, allowing quick identification of the frequencies that need treatment and where to set the threshold. The threshold level and peak hold levels of the user-definable band are shown on the graph, alongside the FFT display of the narrow band signal, which includes retention of the peak level and the frequency containing the most energy.

At the heart of the Oxford SuprEsser is an enhanced version of the compressor section of the Oxford Dynamics plug-in, which is renowned amongst professional users for delivering precise and transparent control of peaks. Around this is built a pair of cross-over filters to make the compressor react only to the defined frequency band. These linear phase filters are modelled on the filters from the Oxford EQ, making the SuprEsser useful for precise mastering work as well as mixing work.

Three listen modes allow the user to listen to the mix, the output of the band-pass filter (‘Inside’) or the output of the band-reject filter (‘Outside’).

The Oxford SuprEsser comes complete with many presets to act as good starting points, alternatively, the advanced section gives full access to all controls for precise correction or even creative use.

It uses intelligent, adaptive technology that responds in real time to your music; creating not only the loudest, but the best sounding master.

Developed by Newfangled Audio, Elevate maintains subtle dynamics and improves the tonal balance of your mix. The adaptive limiter analyzes 26 frequency bands and alters the gain, speed and transients for each band in real time. The result is a transparent, natural sound, no matter how hard you push it.

Elevate utilizes 26 critical filter bands modeled from the human ear. Each of the bands are spaced to give maximum control over how the sound hits your eardrum. Draw curves, solo bands and manipulate the transient attack for each individual band to bring out particular instruments such as kick or snare drums.

Adaptive Technology

Elevate uses artificial intelligence algorithms to make it easy for you to get the best sounds, but you can still get under the hood for as much precise control as you desire. This includes giving you control over the tonal balance and transients inside the final limiting stage. The adaptive algorithms reduce audible artefacts and the additional controls give you maximum flexibility with professional results.

Features

  • Analyzes and alters the gain, speed and transients of each filter band in real time.
  • Includes presets by: APS Mastering, Matt Lange, Jeremy Lubsey, Eric Beam, ROCAsound, Chris Tabron and John McCaig.
  • Automatically adapts the attack, release and look-ahead parameters for each filter band to greatly reduce “pumping” and breathing artifacts and perceived distortion.
  • Preserves or emphasizes fast transients to avoid squashing your mix.
  • Manipulates transients across the critical bands to preserve the attacks from kick drums, snares and cymbals, without affecting the entire mix.
  • Uses linear phase auditory filters — based on the Mel Scale — to manipulate the audio in a way that is natural to your inner ear.
  • Solo the output of one band (or a number of bands) to hone in on problem frequencies, tweak transients or alter gain.
  • Use the Auto Output Level feature to compare the limited signal to non-limited signals with the same amount of gain allowing you to easily hear what impact the processing is having on your sound.
  • Use the Spectral Clipper to overdrive the final output without affecting the tonal balance or allowing the signal to get “tubby.” Perfect for a more aggressive sound.
  • Six different types of metering allow you to keep an eye on every aspect of your output audio.

EQuivocate

Powerful & Precise Human Ear EQ

Graphic EQ that uses filters which are modeled on the human ear.  Perfect for mixing and mastering, EQuivocate’s auditory filters and match EQ functionality make it incredibly powerful, simple to use, and natural sounding. Each of the 26 critical bands tickles a different part of your inner ear, making any combination of settings sound as natural as possible. Combining this with a linear-phase filter shape that reduces pre-echo makes EQuivocate an EQ with a difference you can hear. Includes a parametric EQ, compressor, gate, soft saturation, transformer emulation, micro pitch shift, and stereo delays.

Saturate

Saturate is the Spectral Clipper algorithm made popular in the Elevate Mastering Limiter. Saturate’s two controls belie a sophisticated signal processing engine which allows it to overdrive a signal without effecting the tonal balance no matter how hard you push it. Add up to 12 dB of clipping with a variable shape parameter which moves from a pleasant soft curve to full hard clipping. Additionally, the SHAPE control allows you to smoothly morph between hard clipping and the mathematically smoothest curve possible. Use Saturate to overdrive individual tracks or your entire mix.

Punctuate

Based on the Transient Emphasis section of the award winning Elevate Mastering Limiter, Punctuate is a multi-band transient modulator based on the critical bands in the human ear. Punctuate’s intelligent algorithms allow you to control the transient emphasis or suppression of all 26 critical bands with just 4 controls. This makes for an incredibly powerful, but very easy to use transient modulator.

Master Suite

Anyone Can Master!

Master Suite by Initial Audio is a Mastering plugin for windows and Mac and comes in VST and AU format.

With Master Suite mastering becomes as easy as 1-2-3. Simply adjust the loudness and finalize your track with the 3 band equalizer and stereo image controls.

Sending out Songs and Instrumentals to clients, record labels, online stores and streaming services requires them to have a industry standard loudness in order to have a state of the art sound.

The LUFS display indicates a industry standard loudness by turning green and warns you when you start getting too loud.

An intelligent algorithm applies the right amount of limiting and compression which can be controlled with soften and mix. The HD interface looks clean, feels great and can be seamlessly resized to match your screen resolution.

PLEASE CHECK THE SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Please Note: This product is not compatible with PRO TOOLS. Not compatible with MAC BIG SUR

Features:

  • THD: Total Harmonic Distortion, this can ‘fatten’ up the master and help increase the perceived loudness.
  • Loudness: Increase or decrease the loudness of your master in decibels. Uses an intelligent compression and limiting algorithm to ensure maximum loudness with minimal distortion.
  • LUFS Meter: The LUFS meter (Loudness Units relative to Full Scale) is an industry standard representation of perceived loudness. The meter goes green when in the ‘sweet’ zone of a loud master without over compressing the dynamics of your mix.
  • Soften: This softens the compression curve, also known as a ‘soft knee’.
  • Mix: Mix the compressed audio with the original. If you are pushing the loudness hard and the master is sounding over compressed with a loss of dynamics, this control can help restore some dynamics while still keeping the master loud.
  • Analog: Changes the frequency response of master suite to sound more Analog.
  • 3 Band Equalizer: Cut or boost the low, mid and high frequencies by up to 6dB.
  • Stereo Image: The Mono control works by making the audio completely mono below the set frequency. This can help to tighten up the low end and ensure it is coming only from the center of the stereo field. The Stereo control enhances the stereo field for the frequencies only above the mid range, leaving the lower frequencies untouched. This can be used to add extra ‘space’ in the master by pushing instruments even wider in the stereo field.
  • Ceiling: Sets the maximum loudness for peaks. Your master will not go louder than this.

GrandEQ

What is it?

GrandEQ is nothing else but the culmination of what we here at DDMF have learned in the years since the first software EQ was released back in 2006. It represents the state of the art of equalizer algorithms.

The goal in digital equalizer design is always to reduce the amount of digital artefacts which are introduced due to the necessarily finite sampling frequency. In its minimum phase setting, GrandEQ manages to do just that to an extent larger than most other EQs, and notably both in the amplitude and in the phase domain, while introducing only a very small amount of latency.

The result is a very open and clear sound with, at the same time, excellent CPU efficiency. Its linear phase setting stays completely in the time domain, using an elaborate time-reversal algorithm and 2-fold oversampling to ensure excellent amplitude and (flat) phase response with the lowest possible amount of digital distortion.

Matched magnitude and phase response: comparison

To further clarify what is meant by accurate magnitude and phase response, let’s look at a Bell filter (+9 dB at 10 kHz). Looking at the magnitude response of GrandEQ (shown in red in the following image), note that it follows the true analog response (yellow) so close that it is barely visible below 20 kHz. Both a standard digital EQ (blue) and a decrampled digital EQ (green) show clear differences towards the higher frequency range.

This excellent behavior also carries over to the phase domain: while all software EQs ultimately show a phase response of 0 at half the sampling (Nyquist) frequency, GrandEQ manages to follow the analog curve all the way until > 20 kHz, while the two other EQs clearly show a different response.

Features

  • Minimum Phase algorithm: accurate magnitude and phase matching to analog targets
  • Linear Phase algorithm: forward-backward approach + oversampling
