Vapor Keys are heavily sound-designed keyboard instruments with dry and wet signals mixed together from various FM pianos, other synth sources and reverb gears. These patches are great for chords, arps and shorter soundscapes. Karanyi captured authentic, classic instruments algorithmic and fm (Yamaha DX7 and TX81z) and modern wavetable (Arturia MicroFreak) synthesizers along with various Eventide reverb units and tape machines to create these extraordinary presets.

Conjure the sounds of the undead with the Aztec Death Whistle

The Aztec Death Whistle is a deeply sampled folk wind instrument that captures the dark soul of the ancient Aztec death whistle, a ceremonial clay resonator used during human sacrifice rituals and warfare at the height of the Aztec (historically also known as the Mexica) empire in Central America, during the 14 and 15th centuries AD in what has now become modern day Mexico.

This whistle—technically grouped into the same family of whistles as bird and animal call whistles— is made of kiln-fired clay. It has two chambers which create air cavities that are resonated by blowing into the top of the skull. It produces a harsh, raspy atonal vocal sound very much like a dying breath, but with a shrill demonic essence that is certain to evoke dread on an almost instinctive level. It is the sound of death incarnate.

We recorded sustains, flutter-tongues, staccatos, hand percussion in our dry studio with deep dynamic layering and 12x round-robin. You’ll also find single-shot dramatic stinger effects, such as swells, crescendos and diminuendos. We then recorded the instrument in a large cathedral from both close and far stereo mic positions to bring out a darker, more mysterious and ambient quality. We also created a wide variety of dark, ethereal and sinister sound designed ambiences, synth patches and FX presets created with the raw acoustic source to give you plenty of nightmare fuel to get your horror on. They make an ideal accompaniment to the main natural articulations in this library.

Aztec Death Whistle comes equipped with flexible control features, like attack, release, transient offset, dynamic swelling, octave, vibrato and a robust Arpeggiator system that provides a full range of custom dynamic arpeggiation modes and step sequencer pattern creation options. The third release of the “Groove Butter” series, The Closed Hats features 100 different closed Hi-hat presets made from 2.450 carefully recorded and processed one shot samples. The Hats are playable over four octaves and all presets are velocity sensitive and tuned.

We have recorded a lot of different drum machines in the past and we have now selected some of the rare ones and run them through our saturation, compressing, cleaning process and built a nice GUI for you to have lots of fun with, by turning 44 knobs to get a satisfying beat making experience for musicans and listeners. There are some totally clean and classic sounding closed Hihats and some which we have barely overworked to get some more modern or aggressive results, to fill the toolbox for different music genres.

Add some extra drama by using the pitchbend in combination with some of the useful effects, in a handy and intuitive GUI design. Use the reverb, delay and flanger section to add some width and epicness. You can go real crazy if you want to. In the mid section of the instrument you will find some more tone focussed effects like a compressor, a saturation unit, a powerful overdrive / distortion section and finally the low and hi-pass filters.

On the left side of the instrument you got a few knobs to build up the total shape and mood of the hi-hat sound by using tune, amplitude and pitch envelopes, a section to manage the speed of the sample and also a very useful transient shaper to add some extra attack and punch to the drums.

We are excited to announce the next release of our Groove Butter series: the Maracas & Shakers.

This plugin features 105 unique shaker and maracas presets, carefully crafted from 1,725 meticulously recorded and sampled one-shots.

Each preset is playable over two octaves and is velocity-sensitive in a musical way. We recorded 11 shakers and 6 maracas with 5 microphones, as well as sampled 4 different drum machines. After running them through our saturation, compression, and cleaning process, we designed an intuitive GUI with 45 knobs for an enjoyable beat-making experience.

The plugin includes clean and classic-sounding maracas and shakers, as well as more synthetic or unusual options.

We also overworked some of them to achieve a modern or aggressive sound suitable for different genres. Add extra drama by using the pitch bend in combination with the useful effects available in the intuitive GUI design, including reverb, delay, and flanger.

The mid-section of the instrument features tone-focused effects, such as a compressor, a saturation unit, a powerful overdrive/distortion section, and low and hipass filters. Rhythmic Origins is a comprehensively multi-sampled catalog of UK percussionist David Oliver’s globe-spanning collection of rare, specialty, ethnic concert drums and hand percussion instruments.

Recorded at Whitehouse Studios in Somerset, England, Bell Music in London, and David’s Somerset Studio, this massive library captures 73 different percussion instruments of all shapes and sizes offering a variety of primary and effect articulations. You can custom mix your sound with close and room microphone positions, along with additional mic positions for Bell Music’s giant 54 inch Verdi Taiko Drum, David’s custom Gran Casa and several African hand drums.

The tonal and dynamic balance for each instrument has been carefully engineered to bring out the full bodied bass, rich tonality and high-end clarity in each sample, from the most subtle hand percussion to thunderous concert bass drum strikes. We recorded vocalists Evan “Severed” Seidlitz, Alecia “Mixi” Demner (Stitched Up Heart), Jason Kocol (Impaled) Aaron Boynton (The Sky We Scrape), and Redouane Aouameur. Each singer offers their own unique style and technique, giving you options to work with a broad range of metal sub-genres. We pushed them to their absolute physical limits to build a massive array of fully playable lyrics. The huge Wordmaster dictionary includes 100 words, covering a variety of nouns, pronouns, verbs and adjectives. Each word was chosen to create an effective lyrical toolbox, with sustaining and staccato variants – in both guttural death and acidic screaming tones. We also recorded hundreds of live micro-phrases that can be assembled into your own songs using our phrase step-sequencer and tempo-synched, stretched, layered and blended in all manner of ways.

Each of the five vocalists was captured in a dry studio environment with multiple microphones to capture every subtle nuance of the performance, while providing to distinct sonic flavors. We used a dynamic stage mic (Shure SM58) to get all of the punch and grit of a stage performance. We also recorded with a large diaphragm studio condenser mic (Neumann TLM 103) for pure, crisp full range clarity and perfect fidelity. We then carefully prepared and edited each sample and hand-programmed each element into an unrivaled performance interface that delivers both efficiency and control.

The library includes our Wordmaster interface with 100 words to build your own lyrics with, with death and scream modes for each word. The Scream and Death layers can be mixed, panned and switched between sustaining and staccato versions independently of one another. Angus is a full-featured wavetable-based Synthesizer with 800 instruments across 15 categories. It features 2x 128 wavetables split into two Oscillators, a comprehensive effects section as well as an Arpeggiator, Chordplayer, two Stepmodulators and intelligent musical patch randomization.

It features free wavetable-position modulating, harmonical shifting as well as modifying the wavetable via 14 different shaping modes.

Furthermore, it comes with a multiband filter, a chord memory function, an effects sequencer, a step-modulator, an arpeggiator as well as six built-in effects. Most of these sections do come with built-in factory presets that you can choose via menus easily.

The EKO Stradivarius is one of the rarest and hardest to find string synthesisers from the 1970’s.

It has an incredibly rich and vibrant sound all of its own.

I personally spent a long while hunting one of these synths down and eventually found one, but it was in Italy and had to be shipped here. I could not find one in the UK!

The EKO was released in the 1970’s and used by the likes of Vangelis during his 70’s live shows, the EKO produces beautiful and haunting string sounds of that era. Our version will allow for you to easily create those sounds and go way beyond what the original hardware can do.

Each of the 6 original sections of the EKO stradivarius has been sampled in great detail.

The Soprano Melodica is a nice and easy to use reed instrument made since 1958 by the german company Hohner*.

The sound is generated by blowing air through a mouthpiece into fine brass reeds like those used in Harmocicas.

This underrated instrument was used by musicians like UB40, Depeche Mode, The Gorillas, The Hooters, Supertramp and… you too name a few!

We are very happy to get our hands on one of these rare old instruments in a very good, maybe never used, condition. This is one of the very first Melodicas ever made.

Sounds that you’d never imagine could come out of a piano – for Kontakt 4 and above.

The vol.1 of Hybrichord is our first exploration into what we can really get out of a normal piano, and the initial results are fantastic.

Using various means of getting the instrument to vibrate, including wiring the instrument up, using magnets, electric current, etc, we managed to create some fantastic organic sounding sonic landscapes.

The user interface has controls to allow you to shape and sculpt some of the sound to your liking for use in your music.

Of course, we have also included a variety of more well known experimental techniques, including picks, plucks, bows, hammers, drumming, screws in the strings etc.

This library contains over 4GB of excellent cinematic content, recorded at 96KHz, 24Bit.

A Wooden Orff Tuned Percussion & Sound-Design library built for Kontakt

Alto Xylophone is a deeply sampled Orff tuned percussion instrument primarily found in elementary music classrooms, measuring at just over two feet long. It has a warm plunky tone and fast decay, with 13 rosewood bars laid in a diatonic C major scale from C4 – A5. We used felt mallets to capture each note, then recorded glisses and percussive knocks. We also sampled two soprano xylophones an octave higher: One has 13 notes (C5-A6) with a rounded playful timbre, while the other has 12 notes (C5- G6) with a crisp biting tone, performed with mallets and wooden cube hammers.

All three xylophones were recorded in a dry studio using two microphone positions, with 10 round robin and up to 14 velocity layers per note.

After that, we expanded these natural wooden tones with 20 ambient organic soundscapes and 20 custom FX presets to kickstart your creative exploration. Alto Xylophone fits comfortably in any genre from horror to jazz, and it’s ready to bring acoustic percussive accents to your next composition. This library comes with an adaptable LFO system, with selectable LFO shape, modulation target parameter, speed, intensity, tempo-syncing and fade-in time. You can also apply your choice of 12 lowpass, high-pass and FX filters, with assignable modulation targets such as velocity, modwheel, expression, after-touch, key position and step-sequencer table control. Our customizable arpeggiator offers a velocity table and control over arp direction, timing, swing, randomization and duration.

We’ve included a key and scale lock system to constrain your notes to common scales and keys for easy melodic composition and live performance.

The interface is rounded-out by our modular FX rack panel, with 18 different DSP effect modules that you can assign in any of 10 available slots, in any order that you wish. You’ll find classic phaser, flanger, delay, distortion, amp and cab simulators, compressors, EQ, rotator and so much more. The Reverb effect includes our favorite convolution reverb impulse responses, including 99 different rooms, halls, chambers and outdoor environments, plus another 40 custom FX impulses to radically transform the sound and open up whole new worlds of musical possibility.

We recorded this massive Lyon & Healy bronze concert harp in exquisite detail, with extended articulation choices, advanced controls, easy play-assist features and warm presence across the entire key range.

We’ve covered classic Finger Plucks with long sustains, deep round-robin and dynamic layering for each string. We also recorded Hard Fingernail plucks, Harmonics, Xylophonics, Bass Pedal Buzzes, plus a wide collection of natural Live Glisses in 19 scales and styles by harpist Jennifer Ellis.

You’ll find lots of custom ambiences, pads and unique FX presets created with the harp source to open up limitless sound design possibilities. The central XY Pad can be used in a variety of ways but defaults as volume control between the 4 layers. Each axis can be customized to affect a different parameter and can be used to control filters or a select amount of FX options. Rhythmic motion can also be added to the XY Pad, automatically adjusting each axis in a tempo-syncable way. You can also limit the X and Y range to create new patterns and fluctuations in tone.
