Drop Pad 2

Berlin-based Soundtrax and UK sound designers Sub51 have teamed up to create a new, intuitive and inspiring Drag ‘n’ Drop sample-based Kontakt instrument which allows dynamic blending of four imported custom sound sources to create multilayered complex sounds that morph and evolve in an organic way.

XY Morphing

Drop Pad’s XY-Morph movements can be recorded and exported and imported to or from disk, all four samples can be edited and modulated by the onboard Filters and LFOs. Seven of the best Kontakt effects and an optional Arp will give the sound the final touch – and all samples and almost every movement or modulation can be instantly tempo-synced.

Additional features include a Play button (accessible from all windows) for auditioning loops and it is now possible to further modulate the path of the morph cursor using further Warp functions, which open up new  possibilities for modifying rhythms. An Isolate function now allows one or more of the pads to be locked so that its playback level remains constant, for example, when you want your kick and snare patterns to remain steady but still have the toppers assigned to other pads following the Morph path.

Drop Pad uses Kontakt’s new MIR technology to automatically detect tonal material during import and adjusts the pitch of the audio file. Sample editing options include individual controls related to the pitch, envelope, pan position, playback direction, loop and sample start. The playback engine can be set to the classic ‘Sampler’ or ‘TM Pro’ Mode (incl. tempo/speed settings) to provide convenient tempo adjustment.

Mod & FX

The Modulation section contains a low-pass filter, a peak filter and a high-pass filter, each to be assigned to one or more of the four sample pads where it is possible to modulate the filter setting via a choice of LFO shapes allowing both the X and Y parameters of each pad’s cursor to be changed during playback — independently for all three filters. Other modulation features include independent Pan and Pitch, both with a choice of waveforms. Complete Mod setups can be quickly stored and recalled with via the 9 FX preset buttons.

The FX section contains seven global effects: Reverb, Choral (Chorus), Flair (Flanger), Phasis (Phaser), Overdrive (Van51), Compression (Supercharger GT) and Replika Delay. A special FX Warp pad allows the X and Y axes each to be assigned to an FX parameter where the rate, modulation shape and tempo-related speed of the FX modulation can be adjusted.
A simple EQ allows further shaping of the sound. Complete FX setups (all FX and EQ settings) can be quickly stored and recalled with via the 9 FX preset buttons

Nine FX setups can be stored and recalled with the MOD preset system.

900 MB Library & Snapshots

Drop Pad (Original Edition) comes with a 850MB library of high quality on-board Snapshots and Samples featuring Cinematic Soundscapes, Bass and Drum Loops, Pads, Raw Textures, Sound Effects and Arps. Users can easily choose different sample combinations of the Factory content to create their own Snapshots as well as bringing in their own samples.

Komplete Kontrol is supported via selected pre-defined parameters

Also included with Drop Pad is an additional 123MB of waveform samples such as basic waveforms, noise, timecode, turntable belt, electrical noise and vinyl crackles.

  • Requires Kontakt 6.7.1 Full Version (Not for Kontakt Player)

RootBass

Sound and Feel

What separates a digital instrument from a mechanical one is the sound and feel of striking a key and sensing a mechanical actuator working the string or tine or electric contact. That unmistakeable, satisfying *thunk* is at the root of this new instrument.

Blending carefully modeled, velocity-sensitive multisamples from a vintage analog synthesizer with both velocity-sensitive physical actuators—keys, switches, old circuitry, and others—and articulations from analog waveforms—sine, saw, pulse, white noise, and others—RootBass recaptures the sound and feel of classic bass keys, electric basses, and bass synths from the 60s and 70s: smoky tines, fuzzy basses, funky clavs, electric fuzzbox pianos, deep synth arps, broken rock organs, and old noise boxes that never existed yet sound like they should have.

Custom noise textures, which include different tape hiss and flutter styles, amplifier hum, vinyl crackle, VHS tracking, and electromagnetic noise, add just the right amount of fuzz, dirt, and unpredictability. Routed through classic tape echo, amp/cabinet impulses, and effects, RootBass has a distinctive sound that feels solid, real, and deliciously mechanical.

MECHANICAL BASS

Independently selectable key-down and key-up articulations offer separate decay, filter, tuning, and velocity sensitivity controls, including fine control over their position relative to the bass’s attack and release. Similarly, control the noise type, volume, envelope, filtering, and velocity sensitivity. The instrument offers poly/mono modes and a simple, classic legato mode. Each element can be bypassed.

TAPE ECHO/FX & MIXING

The unique character of tape echo pairs up beautifully with classic rotator, phaser, flanger, and chorus effects to color the bass tones. Three output mix types shape the instrument’s essential style: overdrive + amp/cabinet impulse, classic tube amp, and classic UK guitar amp. Finally, tape saturation and compression give warmth and body while classic mono and modern stereo reverb impulses put space around it.

CLASSIC ARPEGGIATOR

Analog articulations dominate RootBass’s arpeggiator, which recalls the iconic style of classic 70s electronica. Filtering, noise modeling, effects, and subtle modulation are central to capturing the feel of vintage analog synths with their fluctuating voltages, scratchy pots, failing transistors, and aged circuits. The humanization feature (instrument mode) adds another dimension by shifting note volume, pitch, and filtering.

Features

  • 80 PRESETS
  • 3,480 SAMPLES
  • 20 INSTRUMENTS
  • 19 ARTICULATIONS
  • 13 NOISE TEXTURES
  • 124 CONVO IRS

NOTE: *RootBass requires the full version of Kontakt 5.8.1 or higher (the instruments cannot be used in the free Kontakt Player).

RootBass: Tang

Blending analog textures with mechanical and electronic actuators.

All-new electro-mechanical bass instruments constructed from a multisampled analog synthesizer, physical actuators, noise artifacts, and amp/cabinet impulses.

Building on the philosophy of mechanical sound, RootBass TANG charts new creative territory by blending all-new analog textures with mechanical and electronic actuators. Rich new sample content re-imagines the sound and feel of classic synthesizers, with a focus on root+fifth variants.

Carefully modeled, velocity-sensitive multisamples from an analog synthesizer are made combinable with keys, switches, old circuitry, percussive strikes, and articulations from analog waveforms and effects. RootBass TANG captures the sound and feel of vintage synthesizers in a fresh, modern style: brilliant arpeggiators, intense leads, deep keys, rich basses, and gorgeous crossover instruments that defy classification.

RootBass demonstrated how noise becomes an essential part of the sound and feel of an instrument. Two types of radio noise are added to the lineup of custom noise textures, which include different tape hiss and flutter styles, amplifier hum, vinyl crackle, VHS tracking, and electromagnetic noise. Routed through classic tape echo, amp/cabinet impulses, and effects, RootBass TANG creates instruments that feel solid, real, and deliciously mechanical.

CLASSIC ARPEGGIATOR

RootBass TANG‘s arpeggiator is bright, and intense, and captures the iconic sound of vintage electronica in a fresh new style. Filtering, noise modeling, effects, and subtle modulation are central to capturing the feel of fluctuating voltages, scratchy pots, failing transistors, and aged circuits. The humanization feature (instrument mode) adds another dimension by shifting note volume, pitch, and filtering.

Bizarre Sitar

Bizarre Sitar may not seem so strange at first glance.

The full retail version of Native Instruments Kontakt version 5.5 (or later) is required to use .nki instrument presets included in this library.

It has most of the elements found on any other sitar, with it’s traditional gourd body, both main playable strings and sympathetic resonating strings, parda (adjustable curved frets), kunti (tuning pegs), dandi (neck), ghoraj (main bridge) all complete with orante hand-painted accents.

At just over 24″ in length, however, this little beauty is barely half the size of a standard sitar. Simply being small isn’t bizarre by any means, but what is bizarre is how it can achieve such a lush, full-bodied sound while being so small. Intended as more decoration than instrument, we feel this little guy has been highly underestimated. Although soft-spoken and possessing fewer strings than normal (5 main and 6 sympathetic), all this “baby” sitar needed was someone to listen closely. And we did. Very close.

The Bizarre Sitar includes chromatic plucks as well as strumming articulations. Two main strumming tunings are included, a fifth and octave/unison.

An onboard “Speed” slider (MIDI assignable and defaulted to the modwheel) allows you to sculpt the speed of the individual strum from very tight, fast strums to slower, plucky strums.

The unison articulation was tuned with strings in unison and in several octaves to give a very full sound. The fifth articulation was tuned with strings in unison and in fifths, similar to the Pancham-Kharaj tuning popularized by Ravi Shankar. By recording several different strumming speeds for both the fifth and the unison strumming articulations, this library allows you to create realistic sounding strums by adjusting the speed in real-time.

The strums are tuned and spread across the entire keyboard, providing deep, droning sounds in the low end and sharp, mandolin-like plucks in the high end.

Product Specs

  • One master NKI instrument bank in open Kontakt format
  • 603 Stereo Samples
  • 1.86 GB installed
  • 24 bit / 48 kHz uncompressed PCM wav samples
  • 20 Custom Sound-Designed FX and Ambient presets

Contents

The Kontakt interface includes a suite of automation-ready sound-shaping controls to give you total creative flexibility. You have control over swell, attack, release, offset, vibrato, filter, pitch (coarse & fine), articulation switching, cross-fading and layering, and so much more.

We’ve also included 20 unique sound-designed custom FX presets to give you lots of creative options.

This library comes with an adaptable LFO system, with selectable LFO shape, modulation target parameter, speed, intensity, tempo-syncing and fade-in time.

You can also apply your choice of 12 lowpass, high-pass and FX filters, with assignable modulation targets such as velocity, modwheel, expression, after-touch, key position and step-sequencer table control. Our customizable arpeggiator offers a velocity table and control over arp direction, timing, swing, randomization and duration. We’ve included a key and scale lock system to constrain your notes to common scales and keys for easy melodic composition and live performance.

The interface is rounded-out by our modular FX rack panel, with 18 different DSP effect modules that you can assign in any of 10 available slots, in any order that you wish.

You’ll find classic phaser, flanger, delay, distortion, amp and cab simulators, compressors, EQ, rotator and so much more.

The Reverb effect includes our favorite convolution reverb impulse responses, including 99 different rooms, halls, chambers and outdoor environments, plus another 40 custom FX impulses to radically transform the sound and open up whole new worlds of musical possibility. We’ve added a great bank of FX rack chain factory presets to get you started!

The full retail version of Native Instruments Kontakt version 5.5 (or later) is required to use .nki instrument presets included in this library.

The free Kontakt “Player” and “Add Library” import process do not support this standard open-format Kontakt library. Windows 7 or higher. Mac OSX 10.9 or higher. Dual Core CPU, 2 GB System Ram, SATA or SSD hard drive recommended for this library.

The Woods

Here comes the next release of our “Groove Butter” series. “The Woods” features 90 different Clave and Woodblock presets made from 1,764 carefully recorded and sampled one shots. All presets are playable over four octaves and are velocity sensitive.

We have recorded 6 Claves, 5 Woodblocks with 3 drum sticks and 2 brushes, we also sampled 5 different drum maschines, run them through our saturation, compression, cleaning process and finally built a nice GUI for you to have lots of fun by turning 45 knobs to get a satisfying beat making experience.

There are some clean and classic sounding claves and woodblocks and also some which we have hardly overworked, to get some more modern or aggressive results to fill the toolbox for different music genres too. Add some extra drama by using the pitchbend in combination with some of the useful effects available, in a very handy and intuitive GUI design.

You have the possibility to make the sound more epic and wide by using the reverb, delay and flanger section. Here you can go real crazy if you want to. In the mid section of the instrument you will find some more tone focussed effects like a compressor, a saturation unit, a powerful overdrive / distortion section and finally the low and hi-pass filters. On the left side of the instrument you got a few knobs to build up the total shape and mood of the drum sound by using tune, amplitude and pitch envelopes, a section to manage the speed of the sample and also a very useful transient shaper to add some extra attack and punch to the drums.

Sore

350 Powerful Cinematic Underscore Kits

Truly unique and inspiring sounds right out of the box.

Important Note: The Full version of Native Instruments Kontakt 5.8.1 or above required to run this software.

Sore is a state-of-the-art cinematic loop module for Kontakt containing 350 different kits that can be played in tandem across four categories (Bass, Melody, Ambience and Groove).

These kits are built using the included 1,300 (unencrypted) 24-bit WAV files. All loops can be played polyphonically, time-stretched within a range of two octaves (24 semitones).

Each part has its own colour-coded range on the keyboard. You can alternatively play the loops sliced using the “Slice” button in the sequencer pages.

There are special MIDI trigger keys/notes that enable you to retrigger a currently playing slice (when a sequencer is turned on) or to trigger a volume “trance gate” per part.

The Mix Page

From here you can mix and match the individual loops (parts) – the top LCD shows the current kit or simply “—USER—” if you’ve modified the kit (loaded a different loop).

You have 4 LC-displays that show the current (loaded) loop. From there you can select different loops or let SORE choose new ones by clicking on the “R” buttons (randomize). When you press Shift and Alt/Option on the first randomize button on the mix page (Bass section), then that will also alter the sequencer state randomly (on or off) and choose a random sequencer preset for all four parts.

The Solo buttons can be used to solo parts. Clicking any Solo button with Control/Command or Shift will deactivate any active solo.

For almost all controls you can press Alt/Option and adjust the value for all parts at once (It´s always stated in Kontakt’s information window). Control/Command will reset values. Shift is for fine-tuning.

The Space knobs set the amount of convolution reverb for the selected part (The “Space” toggle button must be enabled in the FX page).

The FX buttons can be used to enable or disable FX sections for the parts. The SEQ buttons will enable/disable the per-part sequencer.

The Edit Page

The Edit page lets you set up parameters for each of the four parts. Sore features per-part loop speed control (half, normal, double speed and freeze).

You got a filter modifier with cutoff and resonance, amplifier and filter envelope control, modwheel mapping (volume, lowpass or highpass filter cutoff), pitch bend range as well as a solid bus compressor, tape-saturation, a lowcut and a stereo width adjustment.

The FX Page

Sore comes with a comprehensive onboard FX section. Besides the basic bread-and-butter effects like auto-pan, flanger and delay, you also got some more interesting effects:

The Step Filter is a tempo-synced bandpass filter that randomly changes it’s cutoff. The Amount controls the strength of the cutoff sweeps. The Step Gate is a classical volume “trance gate”.  In the middle are on/off toggle buttons for the various effect sections. To the right is a preset menu with 32 presets and a randomize button that chooses one randomly.

The Space Reverb comes with 60 impulse responses that you can choose via the dropdown menu.

The Seq Page

Perhaps the most interesting thing in Sore. Each part has a 2 x 32 step sequencer that lets you not only control the sample offset per part but also the loop offset. So basically it loads 32 loops per part into the RAM and then you can offset which one to play. (Which delivers really interesting results in no time!).

Furthermore, each part has 32 presets (together with the famous “R” button), a rate control (1/2 , 1/4,  1/8 , 1/16), start step and end step offset knobs + a Slice and a Gate button:

  • Gate button: If the current step in the first (sample offset) sequencer is 0 it won´t play the loop at this moment. (Required for some presets.)
  • Slice button: Let´s you play the first 24 slices on the keyboard of the selected loop chromatically. (“AKAI-Style”).

It will then use the default pitch, that you can still change using the Semi knobs on the mix page.

On top of that, you can even record your own pattern data using the pattern recording buttons for either sample offset (SO) or loop offset (LO).

MAIN FEATURES

350 preset kits that guarantee instant inspiration. If that’s not enough you can use the randomization features of Sore to generate endless “new” kits.

  • Based on the powerful CINEMATRIX engine (14k+ lines of script code)
  • Instantly useable and inspiring sounds right at your fingertips
  • Fast preset kit browsing utilizing Kontakt’s snapshot feature
  • Comprehensive effects section with 4x convolution reverb

The Jamblocks

Here comes the next release of our “Groove Butter” series. “The Jamblocks” features 99 different jamblock presets made from 2,058 carefully recorded and sampled one shots. All presets are playable over four octaves and velocity sensitive.

We have recorded 5 Jamblocks with 5 drum sticks and 2 brushes, we also sampled 3 different drum maschines, run them through our saturation, compression, cleaning process and finally built a nice GUI for you to have lots of fun by turning 45 knobs to get a satisfying beat making experience.

There are some clean and classic sounding jamblocks and also some which are more synthetic or weird.

Features:

  • 99 Kontakt Instruments
  • 2.058 Samples (44.1kHz / 24Bit)
  • 3 drum machines sampled
  • 5 jamblocks recorded with 5 drum sticks and 2 brushes
  • Processed in the box and through outboard gear
  • Formats: Kontakt and WAV

MAD RocknFunk

3 deeply sampled drum kits with authentic musical dynamics

MAD – RocknFunk is the first full installment of the MAD Drum Kit Series. It features an integrated hi-end environment for producing Uber realistic drum grooves with maximum nuance and impact! The idea behind RocknFunk was to sample several iconic kits in such a way to retain a very focused and direct tonal quality at all dynamic levels. With an extended articulation options, a versatile mixer, dedicated groove engine, and immediate playability, you can quickly program convincing drum beats with lots of musical and sonic detail.

RocknFunk packs a lot under the hood with customized elaborate scripts and features that enhance both realistic playback and ease of use. Some features, such as the extensive microphone bleed and Snare Grace notes Legatos, have never before seen in a drum library!

The Highlights

  • Deeply Sampled to the Extreme – 3 Complete Drum kits with a total of 20GB and 24,000+ samples. Up to 20 velocity layers, numerous articulation per drum element, unique release samples, legato transitions, and 4X Round Robin samples throughout!

  • Realistic Extended Dynamic Range – MAD features Drum kits with an authentic extended dynamic range. The top velocities are at the point of stick-breaking power! By utilizing a strict playing style, we achieved a powerful dynamic range without losing touch with the musicality of the instrument.

  • Unique Recording Concept – Each kit was captured in a different space using a unique blend of microphones and by recording numerous articulations. We focused on developing unique scripting features to simplify the drum programming process and keep you focused on the creative process.

  • Highly Playable – The kits are effortless to play. We’ve implemented extended articulations featuring special playing techniques, Left/Right hand samples, multiple playing zones, and combination strokes. Other playability features include: automatic note overlap prevention, an extensive Hi Hat engine, and a variable velocity setup.

  • Flexible Mixing Architecture – Rocknfunk includes an ergonomic mixing environment of up to 14 individual microphone perspectives including EQ, Sends/Returns, and custom bussing.

  • Extensive Hi-Hat Engine – The Hi-Hat engine features various articulations and 6 degrees of Close-To-Open modulation. The auto foot pedal and Legato transitions help you to easily switch between playing zones and apply real-time modulation. The variable attack and velocity curves add the final touch for an unsurpassed Hi Hat action.

  • Comprehensive Microphone Bleed Control – Each kit sports around 50dB of dynamic range, which offers a great deal of musicality. MAD’s signal flow design gives you full control over audio leakage (microphone bleed) from almost every microphone perspective. This unprecedented control brings a new level of realism and nuance to drums sound.

  • Legato Snare Grace Notes, Cymbal Chokes, and Note Overlap Prevention – MAD features an ergonomic key mapping and articulation layout. Snare grace notes are triggered automatically by playing legato eliminating unnecessary bloat to the mapping. Same goes to cymbal chokes where you can choke any individual cymbal from one key. Since we’ve included dedicated Left and Right hand samples, the engine disallows impossible note overlaps keeping your performance clean and real!

  • Dedicated Groove Engine – Explore plenty of Rock and Funk beats complete with alternate grooves and fills ranging from subtle to extreme. All grooves are un-quantized and can be dragged to your host as standard MIDI files.

The Instruments

Each of the three included kits is unique and offers a great deal of timbre contrast. We recorded each kit in a different space to further extend versatility of sound. Each recording space has inspired us with different recording techniques, microphone selection, and playing styles.

We then developed custom scripts and a user interface that is deep, yet straightforward and easy to use. The outcome is collection of drum kits that offers a detailed and organic sound that will enhance any music style.

Ancient Greek Compendium

Ancient Greek Compendium is a grand trio of products: Ancient Greek Strings, Winds, and Percussion.

Explore the oldest roots of Western musical traditions, stretching back thousands of years – and likely with roots that easily predate all of recorded history. Crafted of wood, gut and goat skins, these classic musical artifacts capture the sound and spirit of classical Greek civilization at its height. Each instrument was handcrafted using period-accurate methods, building materials, and tools by the Athens-based historical research group LyrΑvlos, led by Panagiotis Stefos. LyrAvlos played each instrument, all recorded in exquisite detail by producer John Valasis.

Strings include a Barbiton, Cithara, Lyre, Goat Horn Lyre, Pandura, Phorminx and Trigonon. Winds include single and double-reeded aulos flutes from bass to alto, as well as conch shell horns, brass salpinx horn, pan flute and plagiaulos. Percussion features a Crotalum, Kymbalon, Sistrum, 15-inch Tympanon, 22-inch Tympanon, and Tympanon Zill. These samples have a rich and colorful tone you won’t find anywhere else.

Contents

The Kontakt interface includes a suite of automation-ready sound-shaping controls to give you total creative flexibility. You have control over swell, attack, release, offset, vibrato, filter, pitch (coarse & fine), articulation switching, cross-fading and layering, and so much more.

The interface is rounded-out by our modular FX rack panel, with 27 different DSP effect modules that you can assign in any of 8 available slots, in any order that you wish.
