Ancient Greek Compendium is a grand trio of products: Ancient Greek Strings, Winds, and Percussion.

Explore the oldest roots of Western musical traditions, stretching back thousands of years – and likely with roots that easily predate all of recorded history. Crafted of wood, gut and goat skins, these classic musical artifacts capture the sound and spirit of classical Greek civilization at its height. Each instrument was handcrafted using period-accurate methods, building materials, and tools by the Athens-based historical research group LyrΑvlos, led by Panagiotis Stefos. LyrAvlos played each instrument, all recorded in exquisite detail by producer John Valasis.

Strings include a Barbiton, Cithara, Lyre, Goat Horn Lyre, Pandura, Phorminx and Trigonon. Winds include single and double-reeded aulos flutes from bass to alto, as well as conch shell horns, brass salpinx horn, pan flute and plagiaulos. Percussion features a Crotalum, Kymbalon, Sistrum, 15-inch Tympanon, 22-inch Tympanon, and Tympanon Zill. These samples have a rich and colorful tone you won’t find anywhere else.

Rigid Audio Ion Storm is a “Cinematic Transition Designer”

It can be used to create all kinds of transitional elements like up- and downlifters, pitch-risers, noise-sweeps and the like.

It is based on five distinct sound engines and comes with 256 categorized presets. There are 32 Wavetables, 128 percussive elements and 128 granular instruments.

Ion Storm also features modwheel playback manipulation, a dedicated mix page as well as onboard effects like waveshaping, distortion, filter and reverb. Furthermore, you can randomize each preset with a single button.

Tempus is a dual voice Granular instrument inspired by the audio space where tempo becomes pitch and pitch becomes tempo.

There are 500+ sound sources in Tempus, and you can combine any sound source with any other. It has 3 different play modes: Granular, Hybrid and One-shot

These sound sources were designed around the idea of rapid and repeated playing of short staccato notes, that are played so fast they blur into a single audio stream with an original and unique timbre.

Tempus passes these sound sources through its sophisticated granular engine to produce an original and unique output, useful in a wide range of styles and musical genres.

There’s a wide range of intuitive and easy to use controls to sculpt and manipulate the output and how and where it will be made, as well as sends and voice effects and a unique gate system.

Voice Controls: The Voices page controls overall Volume, Pan and Pitch of each voice and includes our innovative Scene Management tool and holds the overall Sound Drift control. Each sound can be played back in 3 different ways: Granular Mode, Hybrid Mode and One-shot Mode.

5 Pages:  There are 5 pages of controls for the voice settings to explore. Over these 5 pages you can choose the sounds, browse presets, change playback modes, adjust filters and LFOs and much more. It also includes a creative MIX control where you can assign Vol, Pitch and panning settings and morph between them using the Mix control or automate the morph using the Walk button.

You have fine tuning over each granular mode and a full suite of grain length settings to tweak. Also included are 8 Models which add additional harmonics to your sounds. These add new pitched grains up or down 1 or two octaves for a richer sound. Send levels are also controlled here, with 4 sends per voice.

Custom Bow And Mallet Instrument FX Library For Kontakt

Frendo is a custom-built Soundiron instrument. We created this monster by stringing bailing wire around and through through steel plates and bolts, over galvanize steel piping and across wood planks. It was meant to suffer. You can help it by mistreating it in horrible ways with screwdrivers, bows, drum sticks, mallets and fingers. The instrument holds a vast amount of otherworldly sounds, which is ideal for composers looking for new disturbing, horror-like textures for their scores. Frendo is partially a mallet instrument, recorded with wooden and rubber mallets, but is also a more traditional string instrument, since we recorded finger plucks and bows. It’s the sound of Satan’s cello, weeping softly for your burning soul.

Made of knotty pine, rusted steel bailing wire, eye bolts, hooks, deck screws, hurricane brackets and an old 24″ bass drum, this 5-stringed son of a bitch was 8 feet long and 3 feet wide. The body had a 2″6 spine and two separate body segments to allow torquing and bending while the instrument was played. It was strung with black iron bailing wire, wound over galvanized steel angle brackets and plates and through heavy gauge eye bolts that we used as tuners, by way of a pipe wrench.

We played it with a violin bow, screwdrivers, rubber and wooden mallets, picks, hands and fingers and have provided an array of custom controls, presets, effects and tools to allow total sonic freedom and control over the sound. This library is a unique tuned percussion and string instrument in it’s own right, but also makes excellent effect and sound design material for stingers, trailers, reveals, slates, post production and any number of other specialized production uses.

This library was originally released in 2008 by Tonehammer. For our version 2.0 update, we improved key-mapping and overall playability, added a full set of brand new automatable performance, DSP FX, convolution reverb and advanced arpeggiator controls and refined the overall playing experience. The new Convolution Reverb effect features 73 select custom impulse responses, featuring some of our favorite recording halls and some rather unusual custom FX impulses.

Welcome to The Drinking Piano by Soundiron!

This fat-bottomed monster upright has a classic beer hall sound, evoking images of the roaring 20s and pre-war 30s. It’s got all of the brutal wear and tear that you’d expect from a hundred-year-old instrument that has been played hard and put away wet, night after night. With a fat, wide and close sound, it puts you right on the bench with the yellow, cracked ivories under your fingers. It was recorded right up against the strings in a small, slightly reflective hall, giving it all the presence of a dry studio recording with just a hint of live ambiance.

The years of alcohol-fueled abuse have been less than kind to this once stately instrument.

With worn and rickety key action, unreliable dampers, loose pedal mechanics, wear hardened felts, the occasional misaligned hammer and decades of baked-in dust, every key has all the character and frailty of a hundred-year-old bartender. The strings were far too corroded to be tuned without risking breakage and further internal damage, so the whole thing is a little over a half-step flat. But beneath the beer stains and cigarette burns, this massive aging troubadour has a substantial pedigree. It’s an original Ivors and Pond model from the dawn of the 20th century, made of solid mahogany, with expert hand-craftsmanship and detail rarely seen in any modern uprights.

The Drinking Piano library features a range of proprietary features

This includes the latest version of our Uberpeggiator arp system, optional tempo synching volume and filter LFOs, custom convolution effects, parametric EQ and standard performance shaping parameters. Note attack and sample offset allow you to simply tighten the sound or create pad-like effects. Release timing with extended decay range settings, independent release sample volume and separate pedal SFX volume knobs give you complete control over the release and decay of the notes.

Micro-tuning and stereo-imaging allow you to fine-tune how the piano sits in a mix with other instruments.

The special Sober/Drunk switch gives you the ability to instantly tighten the sound wiping away years of wear and tear or hear the piano as it naturally sounds; a bit rougher around the edges. The Tuned/Untuned switch corrects the tuning of the entire piano, getting it about as close as it will ever be again to 440 and fixing the misaligned hammer action that can be heard souring a few notes here and there

Legato Drumming ™ – Hyper realistic playback

Legato Drumming is a feature specifically designed for hand drum samples.

It adds a layer of real time gestural sounds, simulating typical vibrations and hand noises that occur when moving between articulations. Appropriate sounds are added during playback and react to speed and dynamics.

Additionally, sustain and resonance is automatically controlled when playing muted articulations or when muting a stroke on the fly.

‘Mirror’ mapping – Create grooves on the fly with ease

Hand drums are usually played using 2 hands. Building realistic grooves relies on this fundamental technique.

In FHP we sampled unique Left and Right hand samples for ALL articulations (!) When designing the MIDI mapping layout, we completed the original 2-hand premise and mapped the Left and Right hand samples symmetrically in a mirror-like fashion.

We also simulated the physical location of articulations as it relates to the mapping layout so triggering sounds from the center of the keyboard, is respective to articulations played on the center of the drum skin.

The Boom Chak is a classic analogue-style percussion synth with six editable drum instruments, a programmable rhythm sequencer, low and hi pass filters and six effects.

Each drum sound has dedicated controls like volume, type, pan, pitch, decay, modulation or additional amount of noise, plus six effect switches. This makes the Boom Chak an extremely flexible electronic percussion tool and a really cool instrument to play with.

The effects (Convolution Reverb, Replika Delay, Chorus, Lo-Fi, Flanger, Overdrive) can be added to any individual drum sound or to all sounds at once. The effects are quickly accessible and all effects are editable.

Here comes the third release of our new ‘Groove Butter’ series. The Bells features 85 different bell presets made from 2597 carefully recorded one shot samples.

Agogo Bells, Cowbells recorded with microphones and Cowbells sampled from machines. The drums are playable over four octaves. All presets are velocity sensitive in a very musical way and also tuned. We have recorded a lot of different drum machines in the last years and now selected some of the rare ones and run them through our saturation, compressing, cleaning process and finally built a nice GUI for you to have lots of fun by turning 44 knobs to get a satisfying beat making experience.

There are some totally clean and classic sounding bells and also some which we have hardly overworked to get some more modern or aggressive results to fill the toolbox for different music genres too.

Add some extra drama by using the pitch bend in combination with some of the useful effects you got here in a very handy and intuitive GUI design.

This time you have 25 Agogo Bell presets, 30 Cowbell presets sampled from machines and 30 Cowbell presets made from 4 different real Cowbells (2x Meinl, 1x Latin Percussion, 1x Unknown) recorded with different Mics.

You have the possibility to make the sound more epic and stereo by using the reverb, delay and flanger section. Here you can go real crazy if you want to.

In the mid section of the instrument you will find some more tone focused effects like a compressor, a saturation unit, a powerful overdrive / distortion section and finally the low and high pass filters. On the left side of the instrument you have a few knobs to build up the total shape and mood of the drum sound by using tune, amplitude and pitch envelopes, a section to manage the speed of the sample and also a very useful transient shaper to add some extra attack and punch to the drums.

Volt has a special Volt Meter dial that is the centre of the action. Most of the controls on the front panel can be controlled by the movement of the Volt Meter.

Simply select from the front panel which controls are to be controlled by Volt Meter and then select the depth/range of the control – Moving the voltmeter will then control those active dials. You can also assign the Volt Meter to your Modwheel or any other external controller dial and control many dials with the Volt Meter.

Most of the included snapshots have already been setup to respond to the Volt Meter – Give it a whirl and experiment.

It is easy to create stunning patches with Volt, and by clicking the Volt symbol in the centre of the interface you can randomise patches and let the chaos of the universe play a hand in the sounds you make.

A collection of Synthesizers were used in the creation of Retropolis such as: Red Sound Dark Star, Alpha Juno2, Kawai SX240, Arp Odyssey, Moog MG-1.

All samples are placed under the control of a very easy to use interface and are accessed via a menu system.

Retropolis has a full effects section and also comes with an Arpeggiator which can also be used to modulate filter cutoff.

Retropolis comes supplied with over 200 snapshots. All snapshots are placed into folders such as: Bass, Strings/pads, synths etc for easy selection of snaphot presets.

Berlin-based soundtrax and UK sound designers Sub51 have created an intuitive and inspiring Drag ‘n’ Drop sample-based Kontakt instrument which allows dynamic blending of four imported custom sound sources to create multilayered complex sounds that morph and evolve in an organic way. 

This special edition of Drop Pad comes with an alternative sound library focussing exclusively on rhythmic sounds like drums, beats, percussions, toppers, motions, sound fx and arps.

XY Morphing

Drop Pad’s XY-Morph movements can be recorded and exported and imported to or from disk, all four samples can be edited and modulated by the onboard Filters and LFOs. Seven of the best Kontakt effects and an optional Arp will give the sound the final touch – and all samples and almost every movement or modulation can be instantly tempo-synced.

Additional features include a Play button (accessible from all windows) for auditioning loops and it is now possible to further modulate the path of the morph cursor using further Warp functions, which open up new  possibilities for modifying rhythms. An Isolate function now allows one or more of the pads to be locked so that its playback level remains constant, for example, when you want your kick and snare patterns to remain steady but still have the toppers assigned to other pads following the Morph path.

Drop Pad uses Kontakt’s new MIR technology to automatically detect tonal material during import and adjusts the pitch of the audio file. Sample editing options include individual controls related to the pitch, envelope, pan position, playback direction, loop and sample start. The playback engine can be set to the classic ‘Sampler’ or ‘TM Pro’ Mode (incl. tempo/speed settings) to provide convenient tempo adjustment.

Mod & FX

The Modulation section contains a low-pass filter, a peak filter and a high-pass filter, each to be assigned to one or more of the four sample pads where it is possible to modulate the filter setting via a choice of LFO shapes allowing both the X and Y parameters of each pad’s cursor to be changed during playback — independently for all three filters. Other modulation features include independent Pan and Pitch, both with a choice of waveforms. Complete Mod setups can be quickly stored and recalled with via the 9 FX preset buttons.

The FX section contains seven global effects: Reverb, Choral (Chorus), Flair (Flanger), Phasis (Phaser), Overdrive (Van51), Compression (Supercharger GT) and Replika Delay. A special FX Warp pad allows the X and Y axes each to be assigned to an FX parameter where the rate, modulation shape and tempo-related speed of the FX modulation can be adjusted.
A simple EQ allows further shaping of the sound. Complete FX setups (all FX and EQ settings) can be quickly stored and recalled with via the 9 FX preset buttons.

Nine FX setups can be stored and recalled with the MOD preset system.

334MB Library & Snapshots

Drop Pad Rhythmic Edition comes with a 334MB library of high quality on-board Snapshots and Samples featuring drums, beats, percussions, toppers, motions, sound fx and arps.Users can easily choose different sample combinations of the Factory content to create their own Snapshots as well as bringing in their own samples. Komplete Kontrol is supported via selected pre-defined parameters.

Also included with Drop Pad Rhythmic Edition is an additional 123MB of waveform samples such as basic waveforms, noise, timecode, turntable belt, electrical noise and vinyl crackles.

Cycles & Spots deliver their follow up Kontakt instrument for vocals.

It comes with 4 banks (Characteristics) of vocal phrases which you can put together as you please. Moreover the vocals can be manipulated in sound by tuning, formant shifting and adjusting the speed and each vocal’s starting point can be set separately.

Last but not least 4 effects (Reverb, Stereo Widener, Chorus, Delay) can be applied and adjusted. If you for any reason don’t want to use Kontakt you can directly work with the vocals by going to the specific folders.

This is an excellent tool for all Deep House / Minimal / House / Techno / Tech House producers.
