Sandbox Textures is a dual-layer texture/pad library for creating ambiences ranging from atmospheric and serene to suspenseful and powerful. It processes 24 textures in two layers simultaneously to generate many unique combinations.

Double Layer

The Sandbox Textures engine has a dual-layer capability to play the 24 textures and generate unique combinations.  The volume of the X and Y layers can be controlled through the XY Pad on the main panel, allowing for a graphical and intuitive control of the volume for each layer.

FX

Includes choral, delay, and reverb effects to customize and enhance each texture.  The XY Filters are a combination of two filters that can be controlled using the cursor and manipulate the final result of the texture.

We’ve sampled this bone-rattling beast to build a massive virtual instrument offering 30+ articulations and over 12GB of content. You’ll find a variety of sustains, shorts, dynamic expressions, true legato, creative effects and hundreds of aleatoric melodic phrases. The first Oktobass (also spelled “Octobass”) was built in 1849 by Jean Baptiste Vuillaume, but it drifted into legend by the end of the 1800s, lost but not forgotten for over a century. Then in 1996, double bass player Nicola Moneta, luthier Pierre Bohr and bow-maker Piero Cavalazzi constructed the first modern Octobass. Moneta has gone on to play it in nearly 150 concerts around the world over the last 25 years, though it still remains one of only a handful in existence today.

This 3.48 meter (11.5 ft) mammoth is played from a raised platform, using a row of mechanical levers to control the fingerboard. The cavernous instrument body produces a surprisingly nuanced character, with intense stereo movement and subtle mechanical ornamentation.

We worked with Giorgio Riolo and Daniele Bertinelli to capture the Octobass at Moneta’s private gallery in Milan, Italy. It was recorded using a close pair of large-diaphragm mics at the F holes to achieve a dry and intimate sound, and a wide-spaced pair of omnis at 2 meters for a bright and vivid chamber quality. The mics can be blended in real-time, and the instrument can be freely positioned on our virtual stage, featuring a huge menu of our custom environments, so it’s easy to mix into any arrangement you desire. The Sustain articulations give you a plethora of sustain types with p, mf, F, tremolo p & F, sforzando, swell, flautando, and true legato.

Each short articulation provides 4 round-robin variations per note, making it easy to humanize your arrangements and find the perfect emotive expression for any musical moment.

The Expressions allow real-time dynamically-aware release sample triggering, tempo-synching and time-stretching. We’ve included Crescendo, Decrescendo, Sforzando, Swell, and Swell Tremolo articulations. When combined with the Offset and Attack controls, you can carve out just about any dynamic shape you could ever need. The phrase presets feature a massive collection of live phrases, organized intuitively by root key. Tempo-synching, time-stretching, and pitch transposition give you complete freedom to customize. A Collection of Central American Indigenous Drone Flutes library built for Kontakt

We teamed up with acclaimed sound practitioner René Jenkins to bring you a fantastic catalog of indigenous Central American drone flutes, in the Mayan, Aztec and Zapotec traditions. René performed with six of his favorite 2, 3 and 4-chambered flutes at the giant cathedral-like St Paul’s Church in San Francisco.

We recorded a variety of chromatic articulations and improvised phrases and effects in meticulous detail, including sustains, staccatos, true legato, chirps, swells, trills, flutters, and more. This library is perfect for cinematic compositions, game scoring, atmospheric songwriting, folk music and creative sound design.

The first instrument is the Double Wooden F#4 Drone Flute. It reaches from F#4 to Bb5, with soulful overtones and a wooden, breathy timbre. Next up is the Double Zapotec A4 Clay Flute, spanning from A4 to C6. In the midrange, the Harmony C4 Flute spans C4 to Eb5. The Quad Clay Flute plays D5 to F#6 – the ceramic body gives it a warm, rounded sound for gentle melodies or powerful rhythms. The Triple Snake Flute and Triple Zapotec Clay Flute both span F4 to Ab5. All of these flutes come with a variety of articulations and mic positions so you can mix and match to create your own chamber ensemble. This level of depth and detail lets you craft naturally lush drone flute arrangements, while our advanced sound-shaping and dynamic performance features allow you to explore with complete freedom.

To encapsulate the feel of live drone flutes in the hands of an expert, René also played thousands of beautifully dynamic live performance phrases for each flute, performing a total of over 3,000 distinct melodic elements. The phrases are organized by flute type, tempo (80, 90, 100, 110, 120, 140 bpm), musical key and style. You can trigger them individually with your keyboard or sequence them in the phrase sequencer, with full control over tempo, offset, release, pitch and so much more.

We captured his beautifully haunting sound from three distinct microphone positions: Close, Mid, and Far. The close microphones are a stereo pair of large studio condensers, offering an essentially “dry” sound, with strong tonality, minimal room tail and full presence. The mid position is a wide pair of omnis with a lush, blooming and open quality perfect for orchestral blending. The far mics are a distant pair of studio mics with a wide, cavernous and smoothly cinematic sound with an almost lonely and somber quality.

We sampled iamyank piano with different unconventional mic setups and playing techniques. The library contains a traditional piano, a prepared and a hand picked instruments. We enhanced the recordings with various synths such as Sequential Circuits Rev2 and Moog modular modules to give bite, depth and real analog low end to the instrument patches. 

Samples are recorded with analog gear and ran through cassettes and tapes to give a more organic feel. We also processed some of our patches with digital granular effects & distortion stompboxes. Also included are 80+ Artist presets from music composers and sound designers.

Orrville Pipe Organ is a classic pneumatic pipe organ with 1,224 pipes, 21 ranks, 3 divisions, 2 manuals, 18 stops and 31 registers. It was built for the First Presbyterian Church of Orrville, Ohio in 1963 by the venerable Schantz Organ Company. With a robust and mighty sound, it’s a much more elaborate and powerful instrument than you’d typically expect to find in a smaller rural church like this one, allowing the sound to completely fill the space with an epic presence and grand tonal body. However, that all might be explained by the fact that the Schantz workshop is just a mile up the road in the same small town.

We captured several of our favorite sustain and staccato articulations in two microphone positions, as well as chimes, zymbelstern, blower, and pedal noises for ultimate realism. We’ve also included tons of custom FX patches and sound-designed ambient synth pads created from the source to make this library extraordinarily playable and versatile. Whether you’re looking to create a massive video game sound, bold synth bass tone or play straight from the hymnal, Orrville’s got the pipes to do it!

Modulation Mayhem

For every parameter of every effect you’ll enjoy immediate and powerful access to envelope modulation, LFO modulation and step sequencing modulation (often used for mod. and tempo sync). This one is powerful. This one is unstable and resonating, wobbly and warm, this one is smooth also harsh. All at the same time.

We decided to bring you chaos paired with pure love. We have recorded an old and out of tune harmonica with different microphones and preamps and get some interesting resonances and musical errors instantly. We then processed this recordings heavily with different hardware saturation and also with lots of awesome software tools to make them sound even more interesting and get the things more under control.

We build three different version for you to play with. The Long and the short versions are the most realistic sounding ones. The Long version is looped carefully so you can play it to eternity without the need to hitting the key again. The short version is just a sharp played recording. For the long and the short version you can mix four different microphones to get a natural sounding result at the end.

Next we build a version where you can mix four so called “Tracks”.

These tracks are made from different recording sessions and the microphones are layered together already. So you got a total different experience and a more mystical or industrial like sound as result. In combination with all the effects you can go real wild with that one.

Finally we made a simple version also where we layered together some of the recordings and samples we got while recording and building these instrument. Just choose one and tune it to your taste with all the given knobs.

All instruments are programmed with musical velocity, aftertouch and pitchbend modulation possibilities and a super useful LFO effect tuneable by using the modwheel.

The user interface is built around four separate quadrants, an assignable XY Pad, and arpeggiator system to expand your creative potential. Each layer in Quadral 3 has fully independent sound-shaping options including Attack, Release, Offset, Pitch, Pan, and more. Every quadrant has its own individual arpeggiator and filter with 39 built-in filter types.

The central XY Pad can be used in a variety of ways but defaults as volume control between the 4 layers. Each axis can be customized to affect a different parameter and can be used to control filters or a select amount of FX options. Rhythmic motion can also be added to the XY Pad, automatically adjusting each axis in a tempo-syncable way. You can also limit the X and Y range to create new patterns and fluctuations in tone.

The Fazioli piano was recorded for Silk at a high level of real layers per note – around 30 40 layers per note.

It sounded great with just this, but we decided to add another 20-30 more layers to the mid/top end of the piano where you are likely to hear more fast/consecutively played notes, to add as much variation and detail as possible!

“London Symphonic Strings” contains the standard five section string ensemble (Violins 1, Violins 2, Violas, Cellos, Basses) recorded 24 bit / 48kHz with four mic positions (Close, Main, Rigs and Room) in a beautiful sounding hall. 4 Distinct Mic Positions & Every String Articulation Under The Sun!

London Symphonic Strings were recorded with a selection of incredible Neumann and Schoeps mics in 4 positions – Close, Main, Rigs and Rooms.

The close position was a pair of Neumanns hovered above each section and the main pair was behind the conductor with a stereo pair and added outriggers allowing you to add that extra width out to the sides.

The rigs mics were a pair of Schoeps along with a pair of outriggers (also Schoeps to match the sound), to add width. The room mics were a pair of Neumanns, for a more ambient hall sound.

Here comes the third release of our new Groove Butter series.

The Rim features 75 different rimshot presets made from 1274 carefully recorded one shot samples. The drums are playable over a range of four octaves. All presets are velocity sensitive in a very musical way and also tuned.

We have recorded a lot of different drum machines in the last years and now selected some of the rare ones and run them thru our saturation, compressing, cleaning process and finally build a nice GUI for you to have lots of fun by turning 44 knobs to get a satisfying beat making experience for musicians and also the listeners. There are some totally clean and classic sounding rims and also some which we have hardly overworked to get some more modern or aggressive results to fill the toolbox for different music genres too.

Add some extra drama by using the pitch bend in combination with some of the useful effects you got here in a very handy and intuitive GUI design. You have the possibility to make the sound more epic and stereo by using the reverb, delay and flanger section. Here you can go real crazy if you want to. In the mid section of the instrument you will find some more tone focussed effects like a compressor, a saturation unit, a powerful overdrive / distortion section and finally the low and high pass filters. On the left side of the instrument you got a few knobs to build up the total shape and mood of the drum sound by using tune, amplitude and pitch envelopes, a section to manage the speed of the sample and also a very useful transient shaper to add some extra attack and punch to the drums.
